2000 Chrysler Lhs problems

chrysler logo

The Chrysler LHS is a full-size luxury four-door sedan that was produced by Chrysler for the 1994 through the 2001 model years, with a one-year hiatus for 1998. It replaced the Chrysler Imperial and the Chrysler Fifth Avenue as the division's flagship model. The LHS was rebadged as the Concorde Limited for the 2002 model year.

First generation (1994–1997)

Introduced in May 1993 for the 1994 model year, the Chrysler LHS was the top of the line model for the division, as well as the most expensive of the Chrysler LH platform cars. All the LH-series models shared a 113.0-inch (2,870 mm) wheelbase and were developed using Chrysler's new computer drafting system.

The car was differentiated from the division's New Yorker sedan by its bucket leather seats (the New Yorker had a bench seat) and standard features such as alloy wheels that were options on the New Yorker. Further differences between the Chrysler LHS and its New Yorker counterpart were a floor console and shifter, five-passenger seating, lack of chrome trim, an upgraded interior, and a sportier image. From the 1996 model year on the New Yorker was dropped in favor of a six-passenger option on the LHS. The LHS received a minor face change in 1995 when the corporate-wide Pentastar emblem was replaced with the revived Chrysler brand emblem.

Standard features of the LHS included a 3.5 L EGE 24-valve 214 hp (160 kW; 217 PS) V6 engine, body-colored grille, side mirrors and trim, traction control, aluminum wheels, integrated fog lights, 8-way power-adjustable front seats, premium sound systems with amplifiers, and automatic temperature control. Unlike the New Yorker, leather seats were standard.

Common 2000 Chrysler Lhs problems

The 2000 Chrysler LHS has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. These issues include child seat vehicle description, seat back recliner bolt breakage, seat belts, structure, and frame.

  • Seat Back Recliner Bolt Breakage: On certain passenger vehicles, seat back recliner bolt breakage can occur, resulting in the seat back reclining unexpectedly. This issue affects the front seats of the 2000 Chrysler LHS. The remedy for this problem is to replace the recliner bolts, with owner notification beginning on April 23, 2003.
  • Seat Belts: The 2000 Chrysler LHS has experienced several issues related to seat belts. One issue is that the seat belt shoulder height adjustable turning loop (ATL) top mounting bolt may have been inadequately manufactured. This issue affects passenger vehicles and requires dealers to replace the shoulder belt height adjuster mounting bolts. Another seat belt issue involves the molding flash on the primary lever, which may prevent the operation of the G-lock and tilt lock functions on some of the driver's seat belts. In this case, dealers will replace the left front retractor assemblies.
  • Structure and Frame: The 2000 Chrysler LHS has had problems with compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 201, "Occupant Protection in Interior Impact." This issue affects certain passenger vehicles (non-sunroof only) and requires owners to be sent a storage bin accessory unit that can be attached to the B-pillar along with installation instructions. Dealers can also perform the installation. Owner notification began on December 17, 2001.

These common problems with the 2000 Chrysler LHS have been reported by owners and have led to recalls and complaints. While the car has been praised for its comfortable and reliable 3.5L engine, issues with seats, seat belts, and structure have been reported, affecting a significant number of vehicles.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my car. I've had it for 2.5 years and driven 24000 miles, and I'm happy to say that the only thing I've had to replace so far are the tires. I'm really impressed with how well-built and reliable this car is, not to mention how comfortable it is to drive. It feels like a luxury car, but at a really affordable price. Thanks for listening!

    Outstanding!!!!

  3. Kory Anderson 2024-10-04

This is a great car for the money you'll spend on it, but I recommend getting one off lease.

  4. Deon Murphy 2024-09-28

I never imagined that a car this large would show between 27-30 MPG consistently on the road and 21 in the city. Chrysler has a winning formula in the LHS. Sadly, I must part ways with it as it is time to move to something new for my business. If you can find one like mine, I highly recommend buying it! These cars are excellent - few mechanical problems and high reliability.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to let you know that I am the second owner of this car and it has been great. Currently, it has 185,000 miles on it. The fuel pump went out at 90K, but I have replaced the front bearings. Everything else on the car is fine. The body and the interior have held up great, it still sparkles!
