2022 Gmc Acadia problems

gmc logo

The GMC Acadia is a crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors for its GMC division. The first-generation GMC Acadia shared the GM Lambda platform with the Saturn Outlook, the Chevrolet Traverse, and the Buick Enclave. The Acadia went on sale in 2006 as a 2007 model in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Acadia replaces three of the 7- or 8-seater vehicles on the Buick-Pontiac–GMC dealership network, the midsize GMC Safari van, the GMC Envoy, and the Pontiac Montana SV6 minivan for the domestic market. As of 2009, the Lambda vehicles have replaced the Buick Rainier, Buick Rendezvous, Buick Terraza, and the GMC Envoy XL and then subsequently the GMC Envoy, Chevrolet TrailBlazer and the Isuzu Ascender. A Denali version of the Acadia debuted for 2011. In 2017, the second generation Acadia was repositioned as a mid-size crossover utility vehicle in order to compete within the growing midsize SUV market against the likes of the Ford Explorer, Edge, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

First generation (2007)

The Acadia represents GMC's entry-level truck-like CUV and is the first unibody vehicle from the marque. It is also GMC's first front-wheel drive passenger vehicle, and also the first such vehicle of any kind since the 1973-78 GMC Motorhome.

The Acadia has seating for eight and either front or all-wheel drive. With a 5,200 lb (2,359 kg) towing capacity, the Acadia slots between the GMC Terrain and the Yukon. The Acadia is the mid-priced Lambda model between the Chevrolet Traverse and Enclave.

In December 2006, all production and sales of the Acadia (and the Saturn Outlook) were temporarily stopped due to the engine mounts not having holes drilled to release accumulated water, as well as an issue with potentially faulty rivets in the load floor just forward of the vehicle's rear hatch. The assembly process was quickly adjusted, and dealership sales of the vehicles had resumed within days of the notice.

The first-generation Acadia was sold alongside its second-generation replacement as the Acadia Limited.

Common 2022 Gmc Acadia problems

The GMC Acadia has been a popular midsize SUV, but like any vehicle, it has had its share of issues. While the 2022 GMC Acadia is considered to be a relatively dependable model, there are some common problems that potential buyers should be aware of.

  • Transmission Fault: According to RepairPal, GMC Acadias with a six-speed automatic transmission may develop faults related to a broken 35R clutch wave plate within the transmission. This issue can lead to symptoms like slipping transmission, harsh/rough shifting, and loss of reverse gear.
  • Check Engine Light: Some GMC Acadias may return one or more of the following codes: P0011, P0014, P0021, P0024, P0341, P0346, P0336, or P0391. These codes are related to the powertrain control module or PCM. In many cases, a software update for the PCM can resolve the issue.
  • Faulty A/C System: Some Acadia model years struggled with a flawed A/C system with decreased cooling performance. The root cause was determined to be an evaporator leak that prevents cooling in one zone or the entire vehicle.

It is important to note that these issues are not exclusive to the 2022 GMC Acadia and may vary depending on the specific model year and vehicle condition. When considering a used GMC Acadia, it is always recommended to do thorough research, consult with experts, and test drive the vehicle before making a purchase.

The 2022 GMC Acadia is expected to have about average reliability when compared to the average new car. This prediction is based on the 2021, 2022, and 2023 models, plus the GMC brand scores.

For those who own a 2022 GMC Acadia and are experiencing issues, it is essential to seek professional help from authorized dealerships or mechanics. In some cases, these issues may qualify as a lemon, and legal assistance may be necessary.

In summary, while the 2022 GMC Acadia has some common problems, it is generally considered to be a reliable vehicle. Potential buyers and current owners should stay informed about these issues and seek professional help when needed.

Negative 2022 Gmc Acadia car reviews

  1. Garrett Robel 2024-11-25

Sorry to hear that you've been having issues with your 2022 GMC Acadia. If you're in the market for a new SUV, there are plenty of other options out there to consider. Hopefully, the issues with your vehicle can be resolved soon. Take care!

  2. Karley Beatty 2024-10-11

I really enjoy my Acadia, but there is one issue that bothers me. Unfortunately, I can't leave it idling for long periods of time, which can be inconvenient during my long drives across the country. GMC has implemented a Keyless Engine Shut Off feature that automatically shuts down the vehicle after about 45 minutes of idling with the key in it, or 15 minutes with the key out. While this isn't a problem in the winter, it can get uncomfortably hot in the summer. As someone who travels frequently, I wish there was a way to disable this feature. Unfortunately, I wasn't informed of this feature when I purchased the vehicle brand new from the dealer. I may have to consider trading it in for a different model that better suits my needs.

  3. Conrad Mertz 2024-10-09

After owning it for a year, we find the 22 Acadia Denali to be very lackluster. We traded my wife's 2019 Explorer for it, and we miss the Explorer almost daily. Towing is a challenge, even for a small golf cart and trailer. Simple features like remote start and door lock from the phone require a 150 a year OnStar package that is free for many other makes. It's just GM's way of staying in your pocket. We also noticed little squeaks all over the interior when driving. Overall, we find nothing special about this thing at all. It's about the smallest third-row SUV, and that's why she liked it, but we don't think it's worth it. It feels underpowered and lackluster.

  4. Otho Senger 2024-04-20

Congratulations on your new 2021 GMC Acadia Denali lease! However, it seems like you've been experiencing some issues with the car such as the SD card not functioning properly, the sunroof going off track and the left wheel well making a loud noise. That must be frustrating! I hope the issues get resolved soon and you can fully enjoy your new car.

Positive 2022 Gmc Acadia car reviews

  1. Judah Mitchell 2024-11-26

The vehicle has many great features, but I dislike that it needs a bigger gas tank.

  2. Felix Dooley 2024-11-26

Hi there! I've been driving this SUV for 10 months now and have put about 9000 miles on it. I must say, it's one of the best riding vehicles I've ever owned (and I've owned over 20 vehicles!). I opted for the 2.0 Turbo engine and it has plenty of power while still maintaining great gas mileage. On a recent trip to Ocean City, I was able to average over 34 mpg while cruising at about 70mph for 500 miles. The transmission shifts smoothly and the vehicle handles excellently during winter driving (I live in the Western New York snow belt area).

  3. Gino Sawayn 2024-11-25

I'm glad to hear that you've driven over 3,000 miles without any complaints! I have the same model with a V-6 and 9-speed, but unfortunately, mine didn't come with a heated steering wheel. I wish I had one, especially during the recent cold spell. Overall, it's a quiet and enjoyable driving experience. However, I did have some trouble with the jack and lug wrench that came with the vehicle when I needed to install the 'donut' tire. I had to call for road assistance. Additionally, the rear doors now squeak when I open them, and even though I tried using WD-40, it hasn't solved the issue. When I brought my vehicle to the dealer for the first oil change, they told me that the radio needs updating, but I'm not sure what that means.

  4. Kieran Wiegand 2024-10-14

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to let you know that I completely understand where you're coming from. I was in the same boat when I was looking for a new car. I didn't want anything too big, but I needed something with enough space for my family. That's why I think the Acadias are such a great choice. They're the perfect size and have 3rd row seating, which is so convenient. Plus, they come with all sorts of new technology and gadgets that make driving them so much fun! Let me know if you have any questions or if there's anything else I can help you with.

  5. Lionel Barton 2024-09-02

Love everything about this Denali...the ride is so awesome, the technology is incredible, the interior is beautiful...GMC is definitely professional grade!!!!!
