Gmc Acadia problems
The GMC Acadia is a crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors for its GMC division. The first-generation GMC Acadia shared the GM Lambda platform with the Saturn Outlook, the Chevrolet Traverse, and the Buick Enclave. The Acadia went on sale in 2006 as a 2007 model in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Acadia replaces three of the 7- or 8-seater vehicles on the Buick-Pontiac–GMC dealership network, the midsize GMC Safari van, the GMC Envoy, and the Pontiac Montana SV6 minivan for the domestic market. As of 2009, the Lambda vehicles have replaced the Buick Rainier, Buick Rendezvous, Buick Terraza, and the GMC Envoy XL and then subsequently the GMC Envoy, Chevrolet TrailBlazer and the Isuzu Ascender. A Denali version of the Acadia debuted for 2011. In 2017, the second generation Acadia was repositioned as a mid-size crossover utility vehicle in order to compete within the growing midsize SUV market against the likes of the Ford Explorer, Edge, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
First generation (2007)
The Acadia represents GMC's entry-level truck-like CUV and is the first unibody vehicle from the marque. It is also GMC's first front-wheel drive passenger vehicle, and also the first such vehicle of any kind since the 1973-78 GMC Motorhome.
The Acadia has seating for eight and either front or all-wheel drive. With a 5,200 lb (2,359 kg) towing capacity, the Acadia slots between the GMC Terrain and the Yukon. The Acadia is the mid-priced Lambda model between the Chevrolet Traverse and Enclave.
In December 2006, all production and sales of the Acadia (and the Saturn Outlook) were temporarily stopped due to the engine mounts not having holes drilled to release accumulated water, as well as an issue with potentially faulty rivets in the load floor just forward of the vehicle's rear hatch. The assembly process was quickly adjusted, and dealership sales of the vehicles had resumed within days of the notice.

Just a quick update on our ownership experience so far. We're really happy with our Acadia and have only a few minor nitpicks. I just put on the winter tires, Bridgestone Blizzaks, and the fuel mileage is getting better with more miles on the vehicle. It's great on long trips and the kids love it. We do wish that a better sound system was standard for the price, but overall it's been effortless to drive on the highway (120 km/h) and very quiet inside.

I purchased a 2015 GMC Acadia, my second one after owning a 2008 model. The previous car had an issue with the electrical panel shorting out due to blocked sun roof drains, which was resolved through an insurance claim. However, my new Acadia, which does not have a sun roof, experienced a similar issue with water leakage. The service department suggested that leaves and acorns under the hood may have caused the problem, which I find concerning as it indicates a potential design flaw. Despite the service rep's inquiry about parking under a tree, I do not park my car under trees in my neighborhood.

We purchased a 2009 car with 60,000 miles and only one previous owner in 2014. Although we have not driven it much, we have unfortunately had to deal with several repairs. Thankfully, we had purchased an extended warranty through our bank which covered most of the costs. We had to replace the navigation system, front day running light, lift gate, entire exhaust system, rack and pinion, tie rods, and steering hose. In 2017, the transmission went out and the rear heat stopped working, but we were able to get it fixed under warranty. As of 2018, we are still driving the same vehicle and recently had to install a new engine flex pipe, which unfortunately was not covered by the warranty. We had to pay $1,000 for this repair. In 2019, we had to replace the alternator which cost $1,500 and the catalytic converter along with new spark plugs which cost $1,200. We advise potential buyers to be cautious.

Update: Hi there! Just wanted to share that my 8 year old Acadia has reached 60K miles! However, I've decided to upgrade to a Honda Pilot or Toyota 4-Runner as I've had a few issues with it lately and the extended warranty ran out last year. In the 8 years that I've owned it, it's been in the shop about a dozen times and just had to have it towed a few months ago. Although I take good care of my vehicles, all sorts of annoying things inside are breaking and mechanically, it's been one thing after another! While I do like many of the practical, daily-use aspects of the Acadia, the mechanical unreliability would probably cause me not to buy a GMC again. I really liked the car when we first bought it. It has some good features, although not quite as good as the Caddy I traded in. Unfortunately, we've had some issues with it. The car has been in the shop for a total of 14 days on 3 separate occasions, and it's currently still there. The problems we've experienced are not minor. Firstly, there was a transmission leak, and the dealer didn't have the parts to repair it, so they had to order them. Secondly, there was a leaking rear shock and a bad spring bushing, but once again, the dealer didn't have the parts. Finally, the rear wheels were out of alignment from the factory, which caused the tires to wear down to the cord before we discovered the issue. The shop says that the car came from the factory out of alignment. I'm feeling really frustrated with the vehicle, and I'm worried that I might have a lemon on my hands. However, one positive is that the dealer has been very good to work with so far. I'm planning to contact GMC to arrange a meeting with their representative.
