The GMC Acadia is a crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors for its GMC division. The first-generation GMC Acadia shared the GM Lambda platform with the Saturn Outlook, the Chevrolet Traverse, and the Buick Enclave. The Acadia went on sale in 2006 as a 2007 model in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Acadia replaces three of the 7- or 8-seater vehicles on the Buick-Pontiac–GMC dealership network, the midsize GMC Safari van, the GMC Envoy, and the Pontiac Montana SV6 minivan for the domestic market. As of 2009, the Lambda vehicles have replaced the Buick Rainier, Buick Rendezvous, Buick Terraza, and the GMC Envoy XL and then subsequently the GMC Envoy, Chevrolet TrailBlazer and the Isuzu Ascender. A Denali version of the Acadia debuted for 2011. In 2017, the second generation Acadia was repositioned as a mid-size crossover utility vehicle in order to compete within the growing midsize SUV market against the likes of the Ford Explorer, Edge, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
First generation (2007)
The Acadia represents GMC's entry-level truck-like CUV and is the first unibody vehicle from the marque. It is also GMC's first front-wheel drive passenger vehicle, and also the first such vehicle of any kind since the 1973-78 GMC Motorhome.
The Acadia has seating for eight and either front or all-wheel drive. With a 5,200 lb (2,359 kg) towing capacity, the Acadia slots between the GMC Terrain and the Yukon. The Acadia is the mid-priced Lambda model between the Chevrolet Traverse and Enclave.
In December 2006, all production and sales of the Acadia (and the Saturn Outlook) were temporarily stopped due to the engine mounts not having holes drilled to release accumulated water, as well as an issue with potentially faulty rivets in the load floor just forward of the vehicle's rear hatch. The assembly process was quickly adjusted, and dealership sales of the vehicles had resumed within days of the notice.

I looked at several vehicles before settling on the 2017 GMC Arcadia. As a father of two small kids, I needed something more family-friendly than my flashy 2013 Cadillac XTS. I was looking for a stylish vehicle with plenty of tech features, and the Arcadia fit the bill perfectly. It's not too big or too small, just the right size. I opted for the captain chairs in the back, but my only complaint is that my two-year-old can easily fiddle with the rear heat and air conditioner controls. However, that's just the nature of having a young child. Overall, for the money and my budget, this truck serves its purpose well. It may not be an MDX or Cadillac XT5, but it's definitely worth the investment.

I am unable to comment or add to my original review, so I am writing another one. I posted my review in October, just 3 days after we received the car back with a rebuilt engine. Unfortunately, the motor was losing oil, and although there was never an oil light, we checked the oil every other day. We took a 2-hour trip and then had to drive another hour to help a friend, but apparently, that was too much for the engine. In that time, it had used up all the oil and simply died on a random country road, spinning a bearing. This is the second motor we have had to replace in just 6 months. Unfortunately, no one will rebuild or sell this motor because they cannot warranty it due to its poor quality. I would like to add that the Traverse, Escalade, Acadia, and Enclave all have this motor, and I will not be buying any of them either. When we get another motor in this car, we will be taking it directly from the mechanic to be traded in. I estimate that I will have at least 6 grand added to the cost of a new vehicle if I get the average trade-in value for this car.

I had a Honda Pilot for the last 7 years and I absolutely loved it. However, we decided to switch to the Acadia because we were drawn to its stylish exterior. After owning it for a few months, we have noticed some drawbacks. The interior plastic features feel cheap and the doors don't have the same solid feel as our Honda. Additionally, the chrome trim in the interior can be distracting while driving. On the plus side, the back seat floor area is great for catching crumbs from my two girls. While we appreciate the sliding passenger seats, we feel that comfort was sacrificed in the process. Overall, we have mixed feelings about the Acadia.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my 2009 Acadia that I bought back in May of 2010 with 24,727 miles on it. While I've enjoyed driving it, I have had a few minor issues with some of the plastic parts. Specifically, I've had to have the plastic seatbelt cover for one of the middle seats replaced, as well as the cover for one of the middle seat pull downs. Most recently, the plastic at the base of the gear shift slipped off of the top part and there are wires exposed. I agree that some of the plastic parts could be of better quality. Additionally, I've noticed that the chrome lining around the radio and all of the AC vents can be a bit distracting in bright sunlight. Overall, I still enjoy my Acadia and hope that these minor issues can be addressed in future models. Thanks for listening!

Hello everyone! I wanted to share my experience with my 2007 GMC Acadia that I bought about a year and a half ago. Unfortunately, I've had a few issues with it. First, the transmission was severely damaged and it took a whole month to fix. During that time, I had to rely on others for rides, which was a bit of a hassle. Then, the steering went bad and now there seems to be an issue with the electrical components. Recently, I came out to a dead battery on a cold day, but after changing it, the radio, lights, and inside console all came on automatically and stayed on. The service engine light was also on and the engine took a while to turn off even after the ignition was off. Now, my mechanic is saying that I have a leak. Has anyone else had similar experiences with their Acadia? Thank you for your help!

I recently purchased a 2016 GMC Acadia SLT after driving non-American cars for 25 years. I was initially impressed with the middle aisle to the 3rd row, leather seats, and smooth driving experience. However, I have experienced some major issues over the past 2 years, including a failed power steering pump costing $500, and both front and rear AC failures due to leaks, which cost $4000. Unfortunately, the transmission is now starting to slip. While I have had some issues with this car, I still appreciate the effort put into its design and features. I hope that US car manufacturers continue to improve their products in the future.
