The GMC Acadia is a crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors for its GMC division. The first-generation GMC Acadia shared the GM Lambda platform with the Saturn Outlook, the Chevrolet Traverse, and the Buick Enclave. The Acadia went on sale in 2006 as a 2007 model in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Acadia replaces three of the 7- or 8-seater vehicles on the Buick-Pontiac–GMC dealership network, the midsize GMC Safari van, the GMC Envoy, and the Pontiac Montana SV6 minivan for the domestic market. As of 2009, the Lambda vehicles have replaced the Buick Rainier, Buick Rendezvous, Buick Terraza, and the GMC Envoy XL and then subsequently the GMC Envoy, Chevrolet TrailBlazer and the Isuzu Ascender. A Denali version of the Acadia debuted for 2011. In 2017, the second generation Acadia was repositioned as a mid-size crossover utility vehicle in order to compete within the growing midsize SUV market against the likes of the Ford Explorer, Edge, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
First generation (2007)
The Acadia represents GMC's entry-level truck-like CUV and is the first unibody vehicle from the marque. It is also GMC's first front-wheel drive passenger vehicle, and also the first such vehicle of any kind since the 1973-78 GMC Motorhome.
The Acadia has seating for eight and either front or all-wheel drive. With a 5,200 lb (2,359 kg) towing capacity, the Acadia slots between the GMC Terrain and the Yukon. The Acadia is the mid-priced Lambda model between the Chevrolet Traverse and Enclave.
In December 2006, all production and sales of the Acadia (and the Saturn Outlook) were temporarily stopped due to the engine mounts not having holes drilled to release accumulated water, as well as an issue with potentially faulty rivets in the load floor just forward of the vehicle's rear hatch. The assembly process was quickly adjusted, and dealership sales of the vehicles had resumed within days of the notice.

This is a fantastic vehicle! It offers the most head and legroom in the midsize class, and has a great body style similar to a Durango or Explorer but bigger. The interior is made with quality parts, and even shutting the door you can hear the sturdiness of this vehicle. It truly offers a car-like ride, and I've had it for almost two years with no problems, aside from a blown tire. You sit high with great safety ratings and lots of visibility. Even the low trims look great with leather dash and stitching. The back up camera with sensors and trajectory is awesome, and the automatic on and off lights with pretty LED headlamps are a nice touch. The slight hesitation in the transmission turning low speeds is just a quirk from reviews I've read. Overall, GMC got this vehicle right!

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with my leased 2017 Acadia. While I've enjoyed driving it, I have noticed a few minor issues with the build quality that I wanted to bring to your attention. For example, the hood/grille is slightly off-center, there are gaps between the grille and headlights, and some of the trim pieces don't fit flush. Additionally, the rear seats are a bit uneven and there are some bumps in the fabric when the seats are folded flat. While these may seem like small details, I was surprised to see them in a 2017 model year vehicle. That being said, I have found the Acadia to be very comfortable to drive, whether on the highway or in town. It doesn't feel like a full size SUV at all, which is great. If you're able to find an SLT-1 for around $35,000, I think it would be a good value. However, if you're looking to spend more than $40,000, I would recommend exploring other options. It seems like GMC may have prioritized electronics and flashy features over the mechanical quality of the vehicle. Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts!

The interior sounds nicely refined and quiet, and the rear legroom is unrivaled by any other vehicle. The rear sliding seat is also a great feature for extra space. Hi there! I've been driving this SUV for 10 months now and have put about 9000 miles on it. I must say, it's one of the best riding vehicles I've ever owned (and I've owned over 20 vehicles!). I opted for the 2.0 Turbo engine and it has plenty of power while still maintaining great gas mileage. On a recent trip to Ocean City, I was able to average over 34 mpg while cruising at about 70mph for 500 miles. The transmission shifts smoothly and the vehicle handles excellently during winter driving (I live in the Western New York snow belt area).

This car is great for long rides on the highway, but it does feel quite heavy. Unfortunately, the front brakes wore out at 27000 and the electrical system is failing. The dealer says it will take many months to get the parts due to high demand, which is frustrating. It seems that the problems are caused by road salt, which is a common issue in the north east. It would be great if the car was designed to handle salt better. I have decided to sell the car as soon as the parts arrive and buy a Toyota instead. On the bright side, the factory gave us a two-year extension on the warranty to cover the chronic electrical problem. Although the warning module broke again, it was replaced under the extended warranty. Unfortunately, GM has not done anything to correct the problem, and it cost $1000.00 to replace the module.

Despite the initial issues with the vehicle, I am confident in its potential. The dealership was able to fix the problem and I am grateful for their assistance. While there were some additional codes that were not addressed, I am optimistic that they can be resolved. Although the horn honked unexpectedly and the security system was activated, I believe these are minor issues that can be easily addressed. While it may not have been the smoothest start, I am confident that this vehicle has a lot of potential. I am currently weighing my options and considering the best course of action moving forward.

The safety features are really nice, especially the lane assist which is my favorite for long drives. However, if you plan to use the third row, you will only be able to fit a few bags of groceries in this thing, as there is almost no trunk space at all. Our family also owns a 2014 Buick Enclave, which is a better vehicle even being 5 years older. It has more space, a better ride, and a nicer interior. My last vehicle was a 2017 Ford Explorer, which beats the Acadia in every category I can think of. I want to clarify that this review is without bias since the Acadia is a company provided car. Unfortunately, upon delivery, my transmission sprung a leak and lost all its fluid, stranding my wife and kids. It only had 20 miles on it. The dealership near me was an absolute nightmare to deal with.

I purchased my 2009 Acadia in March 2009. Although I have had some issues with the rack and pinion, seatbelt sensor, tire sensor, keyless remote, frame around 2nd row seats, and inside part of front driver/passenger door, I have found that these issues are not covered by the limited bumper to bumper warranty. Despite these challenges, I still believe that the Acadia is a quality vehicle with many great features. It is important to carefully review the warranty before making a purchase to fully understand what is covered.
