- Summary: My 2014 Ford Taurus SEL transmission when driving and when the shifting begins, the car shudders in 3rd and 4th gear, when it passes the 4 gears, then the vehicle runs smooth. I would like to report this because this is not normal for a transmission to do this. I do not believe it is a Torque converter. Ford Dealership said it was a Torque Converter. I took it to Aamco Transmission and had it looked at and the person that worked on it, he did not believe it was a Torque Converter. I had Aamco to check this and all they did was changed my Transmission Fluid. The problem came back. I believe this is a defect in the Transmission. I did some research and come to believe it is the body valves inside the Transmission causing this problem. I am sure this could be a safety hazard to me while driving. I believe the Transmission could lock up and cause a crash. I will upload the work order. This has been going on since March 2023 and I have no solution to this problem. I wanted to see if you can help with this problem and get it recalled.

- Summary: Power steering system failed. Internal electrical motor and / or steering angle sensor failed as diagnosed using scanning software. Failure results in requiring extreme effort to turn the steering wheel causing an unsafe situation. At low speeds, steering is nearly impossible and the steering wheel itself stresses to a point which causes concern of additional mechanical failure. Vehicle has less than 100,000 miles of use. All heat generated by the engine, transmission, turbocharger and catalytic converter are transferred to air which flows over the power steering assembly which is located directly behind all of these components in the engine bay. Ford has recalls on this steering assemble on previous year vehicles. The solution for preceding vehicles was adding a heat shield to the power steering assembly. The heat shield helps block radiative heat from the catalytic converter but is insufficient in preventing convective heat transfer to the power steering assembly’s electronics. The result is internal electrical failure of the power steering assembly. A smaller person may not be able to control the vehicle upon failure.

- Summary: Please note that from the time i purchased the vehicle brand new the doors and roof have leaked. The same garage has continued to try and glue the molding in the outside. Now the back window area had the cloth sagging down. I was told it was a design problem and that the police car taurus was experiencing the same problems. After having a problem trying to steer the vehicle,I pulled over to the side of the road and put the car in park. Suddenly the Steering Assist notification appeared and I could not move the steering wheel. I had the car towed to the Ford Garage that services my car. Upon checking all available literature on the 2014 Taurus the failure of the steering is a common problem. Ford has recalled Taurus models up to the year 2013 but not 2014.. I contacted Ford and they gave me a case number to document my concern in the event of a Ford issued recall. How many complaints do they need before the problem is corrected by Ford and not the consumer spending up to 4000. To fix the problem. Perhaps it is a design defect.

- Summary: On 2 occasions in October 2023 my 2014 Ford Taurus would not start after cranking. Once the engine had been warm. The 2nd time approximately 2 weeks later, it was cold and had to be towed to Ford dealer. After the dealer said it was the fuel pump driver module needing replacement, it appears this was a known problem (see below from Ford website); however, mine was not recalled. Mine came from the Chicago factory as well. This should be replaced at no charge to me, including the tow fee. Total $602.90 should be reimbursed. "DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 24, 2016 – Ford Motor Company is issuing two safety recalls and one safety compliance recall in North America. Details are as follows: Ford issues safety recall for certain 2013-15 Ford and Lincoln vehicles to replace fuel pump control modules Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 86,000 2013-15 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS and Lincoln MKT vehicles with 3.5-liter gasoline turbocharged direct injection engines, as well as Ford Police Interceptor sedans to replace fuel pump control modules. In the affected vehicles, the fuel pump control module could fail, which may cause an engine to not start or stall. In some cases, the engine could stall without warning while driving and without the ability to restart, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue. - Summary: Water pump failure causing a major leak. Because the vehicle is designed to have the water pump run on the timing chain and the oil pan right underneath the water pump, the coolant leaks right into the oil pan and coolant enters the engine. I was driving on a back road and had to abruptly pull over on the side of the road because the driver assist screen said “engine coolant overheating.” This was the first and only time this message appeared. There was smoke coming from under the hood. Numerous mechanics that I’ve spoken to said that if I drove it any longer, there’s a good chance the engine could blow. So now I’m looking at a $3,000+ repair for this. Realistically, any other make and model (that was designed with common sense) with a failed water pump should cost $500-1,000. And won’t run the risk of ruining your engine on top of it. I spoke to several Ford dealers and third party mechanics. Every one of them knew exactly what I was talking about like they had seen this many times before. The third party mechanics refused to fix it because it’s an 11+ hour labor None of them said there are any pro’s to having the water pump connected to the timing chain. But there are many con’s to this design. Sounds like negligence on behalf of the engineers who designed all the 3.5L and 3.7L V6’s in the Fords. Luckily, I was going between 20-30 mph on a backroad when this occurred. Otherwise, this could have ended very badly and I’d like to prevent this from happening to anyone else in the future.

- Summary: On 3/8/23 I was attempting to turn around on a residential street. I put my car in reverse and started turning steering wheel to the right when suddenly there was a loud pop and my steering wheel tighted up and I could barely turn it. IThen when I put in drive it stated rattling everywhere. I almost hit another car trying to turn in a drive cause couldn't turn. With in an hour the check engine power assist and traction control came lost blinkers and if I tried to gas it it would baulk I eventually got it home but every time I had to change gears drive to reverse it made a loud noise as if the bottom just fell out. My car has 5 recalls none have been fixed and Ford said my car had no recalls said mechanic but first lady agreed there was one. But they are refusing to fix it or even acknowledge that there is a recall. The mechanic was very short and rude with me. And then said to take it up with Ford Customer Service. I've only had my car for 6 months and now am out of car and in danger of loosing my two jobs. 64 of the 153 complaints all have to do with the exact problems I have with steering then the axel. This needs to be investigated cause had I lost power steering suddenly when making that turn someone could have been seriously injured if not killed. Thankfully I lost it while at a stoping point and was able to compensate for the lack of steering. However my back my shoulders and my hands have all been damaged due to trying to control my car. Who should I call to have recalls fixed since Ford is denying there's even a recall. I've emailed CarMax no response and emailed Ford CEO but mail came back

- Summary: Without any warning or warning lights the electronic power steering system failed, and the turn signal will not remain on unless held manually (new problem that started when the power steering failed). It is very hard to turn without it, and I am a strong man, it's nearly impossible to turn with one hand so the turn signal can also be operated. Only 39000 miles on the vehicle.

- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Explorer, 2014-2015 Taurus and 2014 Edge vehicles equipped with 2.0L or 2.3L engines and front wheel drive. The support bracket for the front drive axle halfshaft may fail.
- Consequence: The failed bracket could result in a loss of park function which can cause unintended vehicle movement, and loss of motive power while driving which increases the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the link shaft bracket, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. Owners received an interim notification detailing safety risk December 8, 2020. A second letter will be mailed when parts become available in January 2021. The recall began February 2, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S63.

- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Lincoln MKT and Ford Flex and Taurus vehicles with the Police Interceptor or SHO Performance Pack. The rear suspension toe links may fracture due to stress on the rear suspension.
- Consequence: A fractured rear toe link will cause a sudden change in vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear suspension toe links, free of charge. Remedy parts are not currently available. Owners were notified about the recall on March 3, 2020. A second notice will be mailed when remedy parts become available, which is currently expected to be the end of September 2020. The recall began October 28, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or Lincoln customer service at 1-800-521-4140. Ford's number for this recall is 20S04.

- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS and Lincoln MKT vehicles equipped with 3.5L GTDI Ecoboost engines and 2013-2015 Ford Taurus Police Interceptor vehicles. A component within the fuel pump electric module (PEM) may overheat causing a loss of electrical power to the fuel pump.
- Consequence: A loss of power to the fuel pump will cause the engine to stall or prevent the vehicle from starting, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel PEM part number and replace the fuel PEM, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on December 1, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16S31.

- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles manufactured September 2, 2010, to November 30, 2013; 2013-2014 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS vehicles manufactured August 25, 2011, to November 30, 2013; and 2013-2014 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles manufactured September 12, 2011, to November 30, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the halfshaft retention circlip may not have been properly installed, and as a result, the halfshaft may move outward and disengage from the linkshaft while driving and without prior warning.
- Consequence: If the halfshaft and linkshaft become disengaged while driving, power will no longer be transmitted to the wheels, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Additionally, if the parking brake is not applied before exiting the vehicle, the vehicle may roll away despite the transmission being placed in 'Park', increasing the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to make sure that the halfshaft is properly retained. If it is not, dealers will replace the linkshaft and also replace the halfshaft if it shows evidence of spline damage, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S10.

- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Taurus vehicles manufactured November 24, 2008, through February 28, 2014, originally sold in, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. When used in areas that use road salt, the license plate lamp assembly may experience an electro-chemical reaction and corrosion as a result of water intrusion.
- Consequence: This corrosion may result in a short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the license plate lamp assemblies, free of charge. The recall began on July 26, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S08. Note: Under program 14R01, Ford will notify owners in non-corrosion states, and, at the customer's request, dealers will replace the license plate lamp assembly.

If you're looking for a powerful sports car that can accommodate your family, the Ford Taurus SHO is the perfect choice. I come from a family that tends to prefer Honda and Toyota, and they have a negative perception of Ford (as if they have a bipolar disorder). However, I purchased the SHO a few years ago and it drove better than any Honda or Toyota my family owns.

Great value and terrific accommodations! This car compares favorably to the luxury appointments of the Mercedes that we owned. While our Jaguar remains the standard, the Taurus beats out the Camry, Infinity, and even entry-level Lexus models - and it's not even a close comparison.

For the price, this car is a steal! I completely agree that Ford should advertise it more, but it's also kind of nice to be in a semi-exclusive club since you don't really see too many of them. I'm still loving my Taurus Limited even after all this time! Although I did trade it for a 2018 F150 Supercrew, it's not a knock on the Taurus. I just couldn't resist the deal on my truck!

If your car doesn't have rear sensors or a rear view camera, it can be difficult to see what's behind you. During highway driving, you can expect to get 29 to 30 MPG, while in town driving, the mileage drops to 24-26 MPG. The ride quality is very good and the noise level is also good, unless the road is heavily grooved. Personally, I'm considering buying a 2019 model, but I'll likely upgrade to a Limited for the Bliss system and the driver assist package.

The car has an impressive 2.0 Ecoboost I4 engine that is rated at 32 mpg. Although the car averages 23-25 mpg on premium after 8240 miles, it is still a great option for those who commute long distances like myself. While the driver assist package may not be the best, it is still functional. The Sony stereo could use some improvement as it sounds a bit tinny and lacks bass. There have been some issues with the Sync system, but they are being addressed with new updates. Unfortunately, the heated steering wheel only heats 2/3 of the wheel and the climate buttons on the console are not glove-friendly. Additionally, there have been some concerns with exhaust smell in stop/go traffic. Overall, the car is a good choice for those who prioritize fuel efficiency and reliability.

The new Ford Taurus has some areas that could be improved. With regular use, it may not last as long as some other cars. The paint job may be prone to scratches. However, the design of the car is very attractive. Overall, I had some concerns with the build quality, but I appreciate the effort that went into the design.
