2018 Acura Ilx problems
The Acura ILX is a compact car (C-segment) manufactured and marketed by Honda under the Acura brand, based on the ninth-generation Civic sedan. The ILX replaced the Canadian market exclusive Acura CSX. The gasoline-electric hybrid version was Acura's first.
Overview
The concept version was unveiled at the 2012 North American International Auto Show, the production version was presented in the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. The ILX introduces a new design that Acura calls "aero-fused dynamics". Mass production commenced on April 23 at Honda's assembly facility in Greensburg, Indiana and U.S. sales began on May 22.
The ILX's body in white uses 59% high strength steel ranging from 440-980 MPa yield strength grades, aluminum is used for the hood and front bumper beam. Compared to the Civic, the ILX uses Acura's "Amplitude Reactive" dampers and a larger more rigid steering shaft for improved handling and ride quality characteristics.
Options are grouped into Premium and Technology packages and include leather upholstery, 17" alloy wheels, navigation system, premium audio system with SiriusXM satellite radio, and high intensity discharge headlamps. Both option packages include a multi-view rear backup camera with regular, wide-angle, and top-down modes.
For the 2014 model year the ILX came standard with 17-inch wheels, leather interior, heated front seats, an eight-way power driver's seat, tri-angle backup camera and audio subwoofer with Active Noise Cancellation.
For the 2015 model year, the ILX Hybrid was discontinued due to slow sales. Through May of 2014, only 2,660 Hybrid units were sold since its introduction.

- Summary: Possibility of incorrect vin number. I first noticed this issue when I tried to schedule an appointment with an Acura dealership. I was asked to enter my Vin number for my vehicle and when I did so it showed a different higher level trim than what I have. After conducting some research and purchasing couple of reputable detailed VIN reports using the Vin number on my car I saw that the vin on my vehicle does not match the trim level of the vehicle I am driving. The vin number appears to match a 2018 Acura ILX with a technology package. I do not have a technology package. My car has a premium package. I have reported the issue to my state attorney general office. Given this issue, I am unsure of whether or not there are any open recalls on the actual vehicle I’m driving because I am unsure if the Vin number is correct. I am experiencing problems related to certain recalls on this year make & model vehicle. It would appear that there is a strong possibility that there is a recall on my vehicle, but the Vin number does not show that possibly due to an issue with a falsified Vin number that is attached to my vehicle. I am unsure how to proceed. An investigation is being conducted by my states attorney general’s office.

The contact's daughter was driving approximately 10 MPH and accelerating after stopping at a traffic sign when the vehicle was crashed by another vehicle. The contact's vehicle had the front bumper removed. There were no injuries and both vehicles were drivable. The contact's daughter had exited the vehicle and retrieved the front bumper. She got back into the driver's seat and attempted to strap the seat belt on, and found that the seat belt had become locked and would not deploy normally. The fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.
- Consequence: Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will replace the fuel pump module, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed September 6, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are KGC and KGD. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall numbers 21V-215 and 20V-314.

- Summary: Acura (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Acura ILX vehicles. Excessive grease may prevent the set-ring on the half shaft from fully engaging, allowing the driveshaft to separate from the half shaft.
- Consequence: A separated driveshaft can cause the vehicle to have a loss of drive or allow the vehicle to move even while in Park, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
- Remedy: Acura will notify owners, and dealers will inspect, and, as necessary, replace the driveshaft and half shaft, free of charge. The recall began August 1, 2019. Owners may contact Acura customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Acura's number for this recall is G54.

- Summary: Acura (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Acura ILX vehicles. The vehicles may have a deformed fuel tank, raising the height of the fuel pump and allowing the fuel level float to stick, possibly causing the fuel gauge to display an inaccurate fuel level.
- Consequence: If the fuel gauge displays that the vehicle has more gas than it actually does, the vehicle may run out of gas and stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Acura will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, replace the fuel tank, free of charge. The recall began March 14, 2019. Owners may contact Acura customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Acura's number for this recall is H3U, Z3T.

I am disappointed with my purchase of the 2017 ILX. The car's interior is minimalistic and lacks the electronics that I was expecting. Additionally, I experienced issues with the rear view mirror, radio, and headlights. I believe that Acura can do better and should improve the quality of their products.

I own this car and I have some regrets about it. The features on a Civic are much more advanced and have more technology than the ILX. The seats are not even manual on the passenger side and it doesn't have a push start remote like the Civic. Additionally, it doesn't have navigation and the backup camera doesn't have a beep sound. Overall, it's not as high quality as a Honda Civic and I don't think it's worth the price.

My Acura ILX has room for improvement. I suggest adding more features to the base model and showcasing other models. The seat sits low, which can make it difficult to see over the steering wheel even after adjusting it. The AC/heating system has had some issues, such as blowing warm air or cool air when it should be the opposite. I have already taken it to the dealership three times and reached out to Acura customer relations. I am confident that the issue will be resolved soon. Additionally, the ride could be smoother at times.
