- Summary: The rear backup camera is showing upside down. It is very difficult to see the blind spot area just to the rear of the vehicle when backing without the camera on this 2012 Ford Taurus. I consider it a safety issue in which I have had several close calls backing since the camera shows pointing upward toward the sky more than it did and upside down. I decided to report this problem when I missed seeing a kid behind me at a Wal-mart parking lot. This problem started in mid September 2022. I have researched this issue on line and there are many complaints about this problem from other people about the 2012 Taurus and other types of Ford automobiles and trucks.

I PAID $1600 FOR REPAIRS; I WAS INFORMED AT THAT TIME THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT WAS NOT OPERATING PROPERTY. I KNEW THE LIGHT WAS ON FOR A WHILE, BUT I DID NOT REALIZE THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT WORK. I ASKED WHEN I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED, WHEN THE SENSOR WILL BE IN. MIKE INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD CALL ME. EVER SINCE I LEFT THERE, NO ONE HAS CALLED TO GIVE ME AN UPDATES ON THE PARTS BEING ORDER. I CALLED 5 TIMES, INCLUDING CALLING MARSHALL WHO WAS MY SERVICE ASSOCIATE WHO PROVIDED NO RESPONSE. I TOLD HIM THAT I WAS GOING TO WRITE A BAD REVIEW BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN CALLING FOR WEEKS AND NO ONE WAS PROVIDING ME ANY ANSWERS, AND HIS RESPONSE WAS RESPONSE WAS, 'I'LL LOOK FORWARD TO THE BAD REVIEW.' THIS CLEARING SHOWS THAT MIKE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT MY SAFETY OR ANYONE ELSE WHO IN IN MY VEHICLE, INCLUDING MY CHILD. I NEED TO GET THIS FIXED IT MY WIFE CAR AND SHE DRIVE MY SPECIAL NEEDS DAUGHTER AROUND IN THIS. AND THERE ARE OVER 5000 LETTERS LIKE THIS ALL OVER THE INTERNET IT SEEMS TO BE A FLAW IN THAT FCIM MODULE.

- Summary: A COMPLETE FAILURE OF ALL DASHBOARD CONTROLS OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. CONTROLS SUCH AS RADIO, VOLUMN , AC, HEAT, ETC ARE ALL NON RESPONSIVE! HOWEVER, THE CAR CONTINUALLY BLOWS HOT AIR REGISTERED AS 90 DEGREES THROUGH THE VENTS AND BLOWER CAN NOT BE SHUT OFF!. THE CAR WAS PARKED ON A LOT IN SC. THE PROBLEM SURFACED WHEN I STARTED THE IGNITION TO LEAVE, AFTER ATTENDING A MEETING. I CAUTIOUSLY DROVE THE CAR HOME AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER. IT HAS BEEN TWO MONTHS. YET, THE DEALER CAN NOT GET "BACK-ORDERED" PARTS FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO FIX IT. I CAN NOT /WILL NOT DRIVE THE CAR IN THIS CONDITION. I WONDER WHAT OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS EXIST. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE -- ON A CAR WITH LESS THAN 24,000 MILES ON IT! I HAVE NO CAR TO DRIVE.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 5 recalls for different components of the 2012 Ford Taurus.
- Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 Ford Flex, 2008 and 2010-2012 Ford Taurus, 2008-2009 Ford Taurus X, 2008 Mercury Sable, 2009 and 2011 Lincoln MKS vehicles. The driver frontal air bag may improperly inflate during second-stage deployment in the event of a high speed crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
- Consequence: An improperly inflated air bag increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the driver's frontal air bag module, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on June 13, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16C06.

- Components: STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM
- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Ford Fusion vehicles without a 3.5L engine and Lincoln MKZ hybrid electric vehicles, 2011 Mercury Milan vehicles, 2011-2012 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS, and Lincoln MKT vehicles equipped with a 3.5L GTDI engine and 2013 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS, and Lincoln MKT vehicles equipped with any available engine. The affected vehicles have electric power steering assist systems that may shut down as a result of a steering motor sensor fault.
- Consequence: If the vehicle experiences a loss of power steering assist, extra steering effort will be required at lower speeds, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will check the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). If dealers find any loss of steering assist DTCs, the steering gear will be replaced, free of charge. If, no codes are found during the PSCM inspection, the PSCM software will be updated, free of charge. The recall began on July 21, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S18.

- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2013 Ford Taurus vehicles manufactured December 1, 2009, to July 31, 2010, and 2011-2013 Lincoln MKS vehicles manufactured June 1, 2011, to October 31, 2011. In the affected vehicles, the interior door handle return spring may unseat, resulting in interior door handle that does not return to the fully stowed position after actuation.
- Consequence: If the interior door handle return spring is unseated, the door may unlatch in the event of a side impact crash, increasing the risk of personal injury.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect all four of the interior door handles and either repair or replace them, free of charge. The recall began March 23, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S02.

- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Taurus vehicles manufactured November 24, 2008, through February 28, 2014, originally sold in, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. When used in areas that use road salt, the license plate lamp assembly may experience an electro-chemical reaction and corrosion as a result of water intrusion.
- Consequence: This corrosion may result in a short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the license plate lamp assemblies, free of charge. The recall began on July 26, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S08. Note: Under program 14R01, Ford will notify owners in non-corrosion states, and, at the customer's request, dealers will replace the license plate lamp assembly.

- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY
- Summary: Ford is recalling certain model year 2012 Taurus, Lincoln MKS, and model year 2013 Explorer vehicles manufactured July 19, 2011, through March 15, 2012. In the affected vehicles, the fuel tanks may have a marginally sealed seam in the side of the tank. As a result, the fuel tanks may not provide the expected strength in the event of an impact. The tanks may also leak.
- Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel tanks and replace them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on May 9, 2013. Ford's recall campaign number is 13S03. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.

So far, it has lasted half a million kilometres with pretty much no problems. It's very quick and super comfortable!

The car is incredibly comfortable and quiet. In our rural area, we average 26 to 27 mph in everyday driving and over 30 on the highway, which is impressive for such a large car. However, we did notice one major issue - the flat floor space on the passenger side is too small for individuals with larger feet. This can become quite annoying on long trips. We have the limited version, and we believe that it is due to all the hardware needed to accommodate all the bells and whistles in the seat itself.

I just switched from a 2010 Taurus with about 71,000 miles to this 2012 model, and I'm happy to report that there's very little noticeable difference. Even the color is the same! But that's not a bad thing, since there was little wrong with the 2010 model. I'm hoping to have the same great experience with this car. One thing I really appreciate is the position of the power outlets. The rear one is perfect for my inverter that powers my laptop, the one in the center console powers my iPhone so I can listen to my music, and the one up front powers my Zumo 660 GPS unit so I never get lost during the day. The car rides great, the music system sounds fantastic, there's plenty of room in the trunk, and the power is excellent. I'll definitely be back in 2014 or 2015 if they continue to make cars this nice!

I drove this car on a road trip to New Mexico with four adults and one child and found it to have plenty of trunk space. It had no problem with the weight of a full load. Other than the lack of view when backing up, you just have to trust the backup camera. Overall, I would highly recommend this car as a well thought out vehicle.

Good value car for a used vehicle. It's very comfortable to drive or ride in and has most available features for the model year. The only downside is the auto-dimming headlights, which don't always give the oncoming car enough time before dimming from brights. Overall, I would definitely buy this car again.

I have been a Ford man my whole life. However, the last 3 Fords I have owned have been severely problematic. The older Fords we have are excellent and have been a great value(00 Taurus, 02 F150), however, this new Taurus has been a disaster. First, the clearcoat is cracking and the paint on the trunk was poorly executed. Ford has offered to repaint, but I am afraid they will make it worse. Next, the interior materials could be better. I barely rubbed my finger on the faux wood and scratches galore! Ridiculous! Now, and apparently this is a know issue, the trunk(when closed), rubs on the bumper and the paint is rubbing away. Also tearing up the tailight. Unacceptable! My last Ford.

I've only had my Taurus since October 2011 and was looking forward to winter driving now that I have AWD. However, on the first cold morning after leaving the car outside all night, I had trouble opening the windows. One window in the rear finally opened, but the other three were still stuck. I'm not sure if this is a feature I missed, but it seems like it's designed to keep the cold out. I'm hoping to get this fixed soon, but I'm not looking forward to the process. Additionally, the cup holders are quite small and I've had trouble finding cups that fit, except maybe a dixie cup. Overall, I'm still enjoying my Taurus despite these minor issues.

The car drove well when it was new. We've had it for about 5 months now and unfortunately, some issues have started to appear such as a raddled sound from inside the car and gas leakage when pumping gas. The dealer has no idea why and they are keeping the car for a day.

I purchased this car in 2019 with 68,010 miles on it, making it my third Taurus. I had previously traded in a 2008 Taurus, which I now regret. During a long trip shortly after purchasing the new car, it performed exceptionally well, achieving an impressive 34-38 MPG. Although there was an issue with the A/C condenser, it was promptly replaced under warranty. During my daily commute of an hour each way, the car continued to perform well, averaging around 32 MPG. However, recently I have experienced some issues with the power steering and a few minor malfunctions with the steering wheel controls. Despite these issues, the car still handles well and has a great body design, although it can be a bit challenging to park in tight spaces. Additionally, the car's FWD is not ideal for snowy conditions. Overall, I have had a positive experience with this car and appreciate its handling and full-size design.The car is responsive and fairly fast, with one of the coolest interiors I've ever seen. Although the seats could have a little more support, it's still fairly comfortable. I love how quiet it is. While I've always had Ford vehicles, I'm thinking this may be my last one. It's been a great car until recently, but now it seems like I'm constantly spending a lot of money to fix it. It makes me kind of sad because these are really good looking cars that drive nice.
