2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor problems
The Mitsubishi Endeavor is a mid-size crossover SUV built by Mitsubishi Motors at their manufacturing facility in Normal, Illinois from 2003 until 2011. Based on the PS platform, it was the first vehicle built under Mitsubishi's "Project America", a program aimed at introducing vehicles for North America without having to compromise for, or accommodate, global markets.
Design
Its design origins can be traced back to the Mitsubishi SSU which debuted at the 1999 North American International Auto Show, although the Endeavor does not share the concept's mechanical underpinnings. The prototype was powered by a 305 hp (227 kW) version of the 6A13TT 2.5-liter twin-turbo V6, which directed the power to a full-time all-wheel drive system through its INVECS-II five-speed automatic transmission and AYC. When the Endeavor debuted in March 2003, it used the 6G75 3.8-liter V6 offering 215 hp (160 kW) and 250 lb⋅ft (339 N⋅m), mated to a four-speed automatic transmission with an optional all-wheel-drive system that splits the torque 50/50 by default.
Despite some reasonably favorable reviews on its release, the Endeavor's performance in the marketplace failed to meet Mitsubishi's expectations. On its release in March 2003 the company aimed for 80,000 annual sales but had achieved only 32,054 by the end of its debut year, and sales fell every year thereafter.

Common 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor problems
The 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor has several common problems that owners have reported. These issues range from minor inconveniences to more serious mechanical faults.
- Condensation from the air conditioner: A common complaint among 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor owners is that condensation from the air conditioner flows into the car under the floor mats. This can lead to a damp and uncomfortable driving experience, as well as potential damage to the car's interior if not addressed.
- Missing drain plugs, missing engine side covers, and air filters: In a forum post, a user describes how their mechanic found several minor issues with a 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor, including missing drain plugs under the carrier, a missing driver engine side cover, and dirty air filters. While these issues are not major, they can lead to potential problems if not addressed, such as oil leaks or reduced engine performance.
- Pending CODE Po 455 Evap Emission Test: In the same forum post, the mechanic found a pending CODE Po 455 Evap Emission Test, indicating a problem with the emission system. This can lead to the check engine light being illuminated and may require further diagnostic testing to identify the exact issue.
- Small/minor oil leakage: The same forum post
- Suspected flooding: The same forum post also raises the possibility of the car having been flooded due to missing drain plugs and the fact that the bottom frame of the car is wet. However, the carfax record for this vehicle shows no accidents/flood/theft issues, and the user has checked with several other similar sites.
These common problems with the 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor highlight the importance of thoroughly inspecting and maintaining a used vehicle before purchasing it. While some issues may be minor and easily addressed, others can lead to more serious and costly repairs.
Is a Mitsubishi Endeavor a good vehicle?
It's quiet, has a fairly comfortable ride and secure handling, but cornering isn't particularly agile. The refined 3.8-liter V6 provides strong acceleration. Like most car-based SUVs, the Endeavor didn't come with low-range gearing, but the AWD is appropriate for snow and sand.
How long do Mitsubishi Endeavors last?
A used car in 2010, the Endeavor already had 200,000 miles on it – way past the powertrain limited warranty. Still, according to Grubb, she only needed to replace the thermostat, tires, and brakes since then. She's also racked up an additional 100,000 miles driving across Missouri to visit her family.
Why was the Mitsubishi Endeavor discontinued?
The Mitsubishi Endeavor was produced in the US between 2003 and 2011 until it was discontinued due to poor sales.
How much horsepower does a 2005 Endeavor have?
How much horsepower does a 2005 Endeavor have? All 2005 Endeavor trim variations have 225 horsepower.

We bought our new 05 Endeavor AWD in Jan 2006. I added factory fog lights, rear mudflaps. All the parts were ordered by the dealer and were installed without any trouble. We have 39k on the SUV now and have had Zero problems. Our dealer is Lee's Summit Mitsubishi. They have done a really nice job of taking care of our vehicle. Most of our mileage is in town family and grocery hauling. The vehicle does everything that we want it to do. We average about 18 mpg. On the highway about 20/21. I am about ready to buy new tires as the stock tires are almost gone now. We don't miss the 3rd row seat as we seldom haul more than four people.
Arnulfo Braun 2024-11-22
I've had the Endeavor for two months now and I absolutely love it! It's so well-built and comfortable to drive, and I feel incredibly secure driving my toddler around town. Safety was my top priority when selecting a new car, and this one definitely delivers. It handles curves and turns with ease, and there's plenty of room in the back even with the car seat. I couldn't be happier with my purchase!
Maurice Ebert 2024-10-28
I did a lot of research before buying my first SUV. After test driving a few, I was worried I would have to go for a luxury SUV, but then I tried the Mitsubishi Endeavor. It's a beautiful SUV with unique exterior and interior styling, and it has an excellent car-like ride. It feels really solid, being a bit longer and wider than the Honda Pilot, and it takes me everywhere safely and securely with its AWD. This trim level feels luxurious and spacious, comfortably accommodating five adults and plenty of cargo. The Endeavor is a stylish and powerful alternative to the standard SUV box, definitely worth considering.
Rolando Hintz 2024-10-26
The vehicle is really nice. It would have been even better if I had purchased the AWD version. The motor is so 'torquie' that I often spin the tires when trying to get going quickly. The seats are comfortable and the added side frame re-inforcements make the vehicle seem more truck-like. Although there are some usual inconveniences from a manufacturer like Mitsubishi, such as molding issues and parts popping off for no reason, I still love mine and would definitely buy another!

Your 2004 Mitsbushi Endeavour sounds like a fantastic vehicle! It's great to hear that it can comfortably fit your greyhound, granddaughter, stroller, and other passengers with no problems. The fact that the rear window works independently of the rear door is a really nice feature. And it's wonderful that the upholstery is both attractive and tough. It sounds like you made an excellent choice in purchasing this car - it's always a pleasure to hear about such positive experiences!
