The Crown Victoria was the last car made using the Ford Panther platform.
For its entire production, the Crown Victoria was produced by Ford Canada alongside the Grand Marquis at St. Thomas Assembly in Southwold, Ontario. From 1991 until 2011, over 1.5 million cars (including Police Interceptors) were produced by St. Thomas Assembly prior to its closure. A 2012 Crown Victoria (intended for Middle East export) was the final vehicle produced by the facility. Following the discontinuation of the model line, the Crown Victoria was not directly replaced, with the full-size Ford Taurus serving as the next basis for Ford police cars.

YOU MAY WANT TO EXTEND THIS TO 2003-2004 WHICH USE THE SAME STEERING COMPONENTS.

I HAVE HAD THE HEADLIGHT RECALL PERFORMED (SIMILAR ISSUE) THAT STATES THE HEADLIGHTS MAY GO OUT DRIVING AND THE LCM WOULD BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. I HAVE PAID A DIAGNOSTIC FEE AT RAMEY FORD FOR A VERDICT OF A FAULTY LCM. I HAVE SPOKEN TO FORD RELATIONS OVER THE PHONE ABOUT THE MATTER AND GOT NOWHERE AND STILL HAVE TO FOOT THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE. TO ME IT SOUNDS LIKE FORD KNOWS THEY FAIL BUT WILL NOT COVER IT UNLESS ITS HEADLIGHT OPERATION. MY VEHICLE IS A SAFETY CONCERN AT NIGHT TO OTHERS. I DON'T THINK IT'S A COINCIDENCE MY VEHICLE JUST HAPPENS TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO INCLUDE AND EXCERPT FROM THE RECALL "THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN OCTOBER 21, 2013. FORD'S RECALL NUMBER IS 13S08. CUSTOMERS LOCATED IN NON-CORROSION STATES WHO HAVE CONCERNS REGARDING THEIR STEERING WILL HAVE A ONE-TIME OPTION TO HAVE THEIR VEHICLES INSPECTED AND, IF NECESSARY, REPAIRED." THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (BRINSON FORD LINCOLN LOCATED AT 2970 STATE HIGHWAY 31 E ATHENS, TX 75752 903-676-5200) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER NEEDED TO AUTHORIZE THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. - Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2003-2005 Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis vehicles manufactured October 3, 2001, to August 2, 2005. The affected vehicles have a lighting control module (LCM) that may fail, resulting in a loss of headlights.
- Consequence: A loss of headlights can reduce driver visibility and increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the LCM, free of charge. The recall began April 14, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S39.

- Summary: CERTAIN AFTERMARKET FUEL FILTERS SOLD UNDER THE PUROLATOR BRAND NAME, P/N F65277, SHIPPED FROM JANUARY 16 THROUGH JUNE 2, 2006, FOR USE ON THE ABOVE LISTED PASSENGER VEHICLES. DUE TO INCORRECT DESIGN, THE QUICK CONNECTORS MAY NOT FULLY SEAT WITH THE TUBE INTERFACE, EVEN THOUGH THE PERSON MAKING THE CONNECTION MAY BELIEVE THAT THE QUICK CONNECTOR IS FULLY ATTACHED.
- Consequence: FAILURE OF THIS CONNECTION COULD LEAD TO FUEL SPILLAGE AND, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A FIRE COULD OCCUR.

It's great to hear that everyone in your family either has or has had this car! As someone who has owned three of these cars (two police editions and one base version), you cannot stress enough how reliable and dependable this car is. What's truly impressive is the quality engineering that American car makers have put into this car. In your opinion, even Asian/European car makers can't come close to how awesome this car is. While the car may not be anything fancy and is practically a submarine on wheels with its size and looks, it's refreshing to see quality mechanical engineering without any unnecessary computers that can break down. We definitely need more cars like this nowadays!

Driving it must be such a pleasure with all that room around you. It's perfect for both long and short trips, and the handling is excellent for a car of its size. This car is a great vehicle to own. Potential buyers should be aware that it shares the same chassis, engine, and transmission as a Town Car, but costs about $14K less. It performs exceptionally well and is very comfortable overall. While some have criticized its fuel economy, 20-22 MPG is still very acceptable for a V-8 engine that performs so well.

I've owned it for 1 year now and have had no trouble at all. As a tall and heavy woman, I find the electronic adjustable seats to be wonderful. I love taking it on long trips and the gas mileage of about 27 mpg is not bad for a car of this size.

We've had this car for almost a year now and we are extremely satisfied with its performance and comfort. It's a large car, yet modest and doesn't leak anything except a/c condensation. Although we had to replace a rear axle shaft a few months in, it has been flawless otherwise. Despite getting only 12 mpg in the city, it gets an incredible 28 to 30 on the highway, even with three adult-sized people and luggage. It's as smooth as honey on the interstate!

This is the first Ford product I've ever owned and so far, I'm very satisfied with it. It's a big car with rear wheel drive, which I'm not used to, having traded in my second Impala for it. I retired and wanted a larger car, and while it's not as responsive as I'd like it to be, I guess I'm not used to the size yet. The ride is perfect and my wife loves it. I have the heavy duty model and it's large, fast, and comfortable. Additionally, it's affordable. When you're in the fast lane, people tend to move out of your way. You should definitely consider getting a white one!

The vehicle experienced wind turbulence and a defective steering box, which was promptly replaced at 2000 miles. Additionally, the arm rest was damaged and replaced with a fabric that did not match. The AC had a leak and was not cooling properly. Although the dealer is rated highly in the south, there have been several complaints and dissatisfied customers. The dealership requires customers to fill out a survey about their service experience, but unfortunately, reports that go against the service writer are not taken into consideration. It is important to address these issues to ensure a satisfactory experience for all customers.

I've owned three Vics (85, 89, 03) and I must say, I really enjoy the spaciousness of the car (I'm 6-3). It's amazing how you can fit two child seats in the back and still have enough room for someone to sit in between. Plus, the larger size of the car provides a great sense of safety and security. The car handles beautifully on the road, without feeling like you're driving a boat. It's also aerodynamically quiet, allowing me to enjoy fresh air while driving at 55mph. However, I have noticed some noise coming from the transmission (my '89 was the same way!) - a low pitched whine that sounds like blowing across the top of a nearly full soda bottle. Another minor issue is the way the trunk lid holds water until you open it, then it drips into the trunk and on your head. Overall, I get about 20mpg on 300 mi./wk. mostly rural, varied. Not too bad!
