2009 Ford Crown victoria problems
The Ford Crown Victoria ("Crown Vic") is a full-size sedan that was marketed and manufactured by Ford. The successor to the Ford LTD Crown Victoria, two generations of the model line were produced from the 1992 until the 2012 model years. The Ford counterpart of the Mercury Grand Marquis, the Crown Victoria was the largest sedan marketed by Ford in North America, slotted above the Ford Taurus. The Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (1992–2011) was marketed specifically for law-enforcement use; a long-wheelbase Crown Victoria sedan (2002–2011) was marketed primarily for taxi cab fleets.
The Crown Victoria was produced on the rear-wheel drive, body-on-frame Ford Panther platform, sharing its chassis with the Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car. From 1997 until their 2011 discontinuation, the three model lines were the sole four-door sedans produced in North America with a full-length frame, rear-wheel drive, and a standard V8 engine. While the front and rear crumple zones were engineered into the vehicle, it was one of Ford's products that were not of unibody construction for the entire generation. The Crown Victoria was the last car made using the Ford Panther platform.
For its entire production, the Crown Victoria was produced by Ford Canada alongside the Grand Marquis at St. Thomas Assembly in Southwold, Ontario. From 1991 until 2011, over 1.5 million cars (including Police Interceptors) were produced by St. Thomas Assembly prior to its closure. A 2012 Crown Victoria (intended for Middle East export) was the final vehicle produced by the facility. Following the discontinuation of the model line, the Crown Victoria was not directly replaced, with the full-size Ford Taurus serving as the next basis for Ford police cars.

Is 2009 Crown Victoria a good car?
The 4.6L V8 may not be a race engine but combined with the Police transmission and rear end, it makes for a solid reliable vehicle. I'm able to do most maintenance myself and it hasn't needed much more than the basics. I'm up to 150,000 miles and it's still a highway star.
What was the worst year for the Crown Victoria?
Reliability has been a staple in the Ford Crown Victoria's reputation over the years. This comes from Ford's sturdy design, emphasizing durability and easy maintenance. However, reliability wasn't always consistent for the car. The worst year for Crown Victoria in terms of reliability was arguably 2008.
Is the Ford Crown Victoria reliable?
Very reliable. With proper maintenance it's quite common for these cars to reach 300k miles. There are a handful over a million miles.
How long do Crown Vic engines last?
Anything can happen at any age or mileage, but generally speaking, the 4.6 OHC modular engine as installed in most Crown Vics, Grand Marquis, and Town Cars are good for a minimum of 300K miles with an oil change every 6K miles.

What a fun car to drive! The center console and shift take me back to my teenage years. It's also incredibly comfortable and one of the safest cars out there. Plus, it has one of the lowest insurance ratings available. And let's be honest, who doesn't love people mistaking them for an Alabama State Trooper?

Congratulations on your 3rd Crown Vic! It's great to hear that you've had such positive experiences with this model. Not only are they a fantastic value, but they're also very affordable to insure and maintain. While the fuel economy may not be exceptional, it's still decent at 18mpg in typical suburban driving. The ride is incredibly comfortable and the car handles well for its size. It's impressive that your '94 model has never had any mechanical issues and has only required routine service. The reliability of these cars is truly remarkable and the comfort level is top-notch.

We've owned a Ford Crown Vic, a Mercury Marquis, and now another Crown Vic. We find them both to be the same and will always prefer them over other cars. We've looked at many and always come back. The ride and reliability are always great. When travelling, we've always found great dealerships to help us out if there's a problem.

I completely understand the frustration of the person complaining about the resale value, but it's important to do thorough research before making a purchase. Personally, I bought my car with the intention of driving it for as long as possible, so depreciation wasn't a major concern for me. Regarding the comment in the Vehicle Overview about the car being large and unwieldy, I have to disagree. In comparison to a full-sized SUV, this car is incredibly easy to drive and park. The suspension, steering, and wheels all contribute to a smooth and enjoyable driving experience. If Ford were to invest a bit more in the interior materials, add the 300HP 3 valve engine to the LX Sport, and promote the car more effectively, I believe it would be a huge success. In my opinion, the 300C is not as important as the overall quality and performance of the car.
-
The low insurance costs, smooth and quiet ride, decent performance, and excellent crash ratings make this American car a great choice. As someone who drives over 50K miles per year, I'm always looking for the best car for the least amount of money, and this ride is definitely the best in its category. I was able to purchase my slightly used 2006 LX with only 11,000 miles for under $15,000, and I'm averaging an impressive 25.5 miles per gallon.

I bought a 2004 Crown Vic Sport in late 2003 and I really enjoyed driving it. It had a big car but sporty feel with plenty of power. However, when I tried to get out of the car 18 months later, I encountered a problem. Despite paying the hefty $31,000 price for this car, I was disappointed to find out that it was worth only as much as a standard LX. It depreciated $15,500 in just 18 months. In my opinion, it is not worth the price. I would advise you not to buy one!

Hey there! Have you ever experienced the thrill of riding a rear wheel drive car? This car may not be the most exciting, but it's definitely a solid performer and a rare find for an affordable big car.

This car may not have met my expectations, but it still has its merits. Its design, while not to my taste, is still modern and sleek. While it has had some issues, I am confident that with proper maintenance it can be a reliable vehicle. I encourage you to carefully consider your options before making a purchase.
