2005 Ford Crown victoria problems
The Ford Crown Victoria ("Crown Vic") is a full-size sedan that was marketed and manufactured by Ford. The successor to the Ford LTD Crown Victoria, two generations of the model line were produced from the 1992 until the 2012 model years. The Ford counterpart of the Mercury Grand Marquis, the Crown Victoria was the largest sedan marketed by Ford in North America, slotted above the Ford Taurus. The Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (1992–2011) was marketed specifically for law-enforcement use; a long-wheelbase Crown Victoria sedan (2002–2011) was marketed primarily for taxi cab fleets.
The Crown Victoria was produced on the rear-wheel drive, body-on-frame Ford Panther platform, sharing its chassis with the Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car. From 1997 until their 2011 discontinuation, the three model lines were the sole four-door sedans produced in North America with a full-length frame, rear-wheel drive, and a standard V8 engine. While the front and rear crumple zones were engineered into the vehicle, it was one of Ford's products that were not of unibody construction for the entire generation. The Crown Victoria was the last car made using the Ford Panther platform.
For its entire production, the Crown Victoria was produced by Ford Canada alongside the Grand Marquis at St. Thomas Assembly in Southwold, Ontario. From 1991 until 2011, over 1.5 million cars (including Police Interceptors) were produced by St. Thomas Assembly prior to its closure. A 2012 Crown Victoria (intended for Middle East export) was the final vehicle produced by the facility. Following the discontinuation of the model line, the Crown Victoria was not directly replaced, with the full-size Ford Taurus serving as the next basis for Ford police cars.

AIR BAGS,SEAT BELTS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-09-21
- VIN: 2FDHP74WX5X
- Components: AIR BAGS,SEAT BELTS
- Summary: In October 2022 a mechanic successfully replaced a dark gray-colored "seat belt retractor assembly and buckle" on the passenger side of my Ford Crown Victoria in response to an Air Bag dashboard light Lamp Fault Code of "3-4" and a Diagnostic Trouble Code of "B2292" ("Restraint System Seatbelt Pretensioner Error"). Such an error renders the entire supplemental restraint system inoperative and necessitates immediate repair service for safe vehicle operation. In September 2023 the Air Bag light displayed a "3-3" LFC with the "B2292" DTC indicating Restraint System Seatbelt Pretensioner Error on the driver's side. The mechanic and I contacted a Ford dealership for a replacement dark gray-colored seat belt retractor assembly and buckle and were advised that Ford had discontinued manufacture of the part in dark gray and other colors! Ford only offered a tan seat belt assembly. It seemed irresponsible that Ford would discontinue production of such a vital safety part for a vehicle that is used as a personal vehicle, as well as a fleet vehicle for law enforcement organizations, and for state and municipal governments. Without a replacement I could not even pass the state safety inspection to sell the vehicle. To continue to operate the vehicle safely I have no choice but to have a tan seat belt and its accompanying tan interior components installed in a vehicle with a dark gray interior. Please exert whatever influence you have to compel the Ford Motor Company to resume production of the dark gray and other colors of the seat belt retractor assembly and buckle. Thanks.

Hi there! I've been on the lookout for a great rear wheel drive vehicle to buy for a couple of years now. Finally, in 2005, I stumbled upon the CV LX Sport and it seems like the perfect option for my growing family, with plenty of trunk space. After doing some research, I found that many CV/GM owners have driven their cars for over ten years and have put over 100,000 miles on them. I'm just looking for a reliable and comfortable ride, and I think I've found it with this vehicle. I'm confident that it will last me at least 15 years or more. What's more, the car boasts a 240 horsepower engine, which is a great bonus!
-
This automobile is definitely the best overall vehicle I have ever owned within this class. It has looks, performance, and serviceability like no other on the market. It is also great in the economy category. I just came off of a trip where I exceeded 26.5 miles per gallon for the second or third time in two months. This is with a V-8 that runs like nothing I have ever owned before or since the Sixties anyway. It has been a long time coming, but I don't see how anyone can buy a smaller car in this price range with a V-6. You get less space, less performance, and less economy. The comfort is beyond belief, and this vehicle is absolutely fun to drive.
-
This is definitely one of the most comfortable vehicles I have ever owned. It has a great ride and handles wonderfully. Although it may consume a little extra gas, the ride is definitely worth it.

After feeling disappointed with my 02 Chevy Impala LS sedan, I decided to explore some import options. However, I was recommended to check out a Crown and I am so glad I did! I chose the sport model and it was definitely worth the investment. This car is truly amazing and has impressed even my peers in their thirties. Despite their initial assumptions that only the older generation would buy this car, I can easily outperform their Grand Prix GT's, Camry's and Jetta's. Thank you Ford, you have earned a customer for life. Apologies to General Motors for my previous comment.
-
This car is fantastic! It accelerates smoothly, cruises without any issues, and handles tight situations with ease. It's no surprise that law enforcement trusts this car as its 'police interceptor.' I absolutely adore this car!
