The Chevrolet Trailblazer (9BYC) is a subcompact crossover SUV produced by General Motors under the Chevrolet brand since 2020. It is the smallest crossover from Chevrolet, slotting below the Trax.

Overview

The Trailblazer was launched on April 16, 2019, at the 18th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition alongside the Tracker, that replaced the outgoing Trax. The Trailblazer is aimed for developed markets, while the Tracker is aimed for emerging markets. Developed by GM Korea, the Trailblazer is assembled in Incheon, South Korea, while the Chinese-market model is produced in Yantai, Shandong, China, by SAIC-GM.

The Trailblazer made its North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2019, and sales began in early 2020 as a 2021 model year vehicle. There are five trim levels available: L, LS, LT, Activ, and RS. The latter two came standard with dual exhaust and top of the line features. The Activ and RS models also feature a contrasting color roof.

It was launched in the Philippines in October 2021. Imported from South Korea, it notably reused the nameplate from the previous Colorado-based Trailblazer which was discontinued in the same year.

On January 16, 2020, the Trailblazer was launched in South Korea. The Korean-market model is larger in dimension than Trailblazers sold in other markets, with a length of 4,425 mm (174.2 in) and width of 1,810 mm (71.3 in).

MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON BECAUSE OF IT. IT RUNS LIKE CRAP BECAUSE OF IT. WHAT'S MORE DANGEROUS THAN SPILLING GAS EVERYWHERE YOU GO!? SOME PEOPLE HAVE HAD CHEVY PAY FOR THE REPAIRS ON THERE 2004 TRAILBLAZER. LOOK IT SHOULDN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR VIN# IS OR HOW MANY MILES AT THIS POINT (I JUST HIT 150,000) THE GAS TANKS ON THESE VEHICLES ARE FAULTY, THEY'RE DANGEROUS, THEY'RE EXSPENSIVE. • Manufacturer: GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
  • Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TURN SIGNAL
  • Summary: ON CERTAIN TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE DRIVER WISHING TO SIGNAL A TURN BY MOVING THE DIRECTIONAL SIGNAL LEVER, (UP OR DOWN) MAY CAUSE THE FRONT MARKER/TURN LIGHTS AND REAR TURN LIGHTS TO FLASH IN A MANNER SIMILAR TO HAZARD WARNING, RATHER THAN FLASHING ON THE DESIRED SIDE ONLY.
  • Consequence: THE DRIVER MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CLEARLY SIGNAL THEIR INTENTIONS TO TURN, CHANGE TRAVEL LANES, OR POTENTIALLY WARN OTHERS OF AN IMPAIRED VEHICLE OPERATING CONDITION INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
  • Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE SUSPECT FLASHER MODULES WITH A NEW FLASHER MODULE DESIGNED WITH SEALED RELAYS AND MORE DURABLE CONTACT MATERIAL INSIDE OF THE RELAYS FREE OF CHARGE. • Consequence: AN INOPERATIVE BRAKE LAMP WILL NOT CONVEY THE DRIVER'S INTENTION OF STOPPING TO DRIVERS IN FOLLOWING VEHICLES, AND AN INOPERATIVE REAR TURN SIGNAL LAMP WILL NOT CONVEY THE DRIVER'S INTENTION TO TURN TO DRIVERS IN FOLLOWING VEHICLES. BOTH OF THESE FAILURES CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.
  • Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TAIL LAMP/STOP LAMP ASSEMBLIES, AND IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THEM. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 22, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, OLDSMOBILE AT 1-800-630-6537, BUICK AT 1-866-608-8080, OR GMC AT 1-866-996-9463.

Negative 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer car reviews

  1. Chadrick Rice 2024-11-28

I had some issues with my car such as the driver's side window molding getting sucked down inside the door when the window was rolled down, a loud noise when the cooling fan came on, a twisted molding on the right rear door, and a weird discoloration on the driver's side door mirror. I went to the dealer to get these issues resolved, but unfortunately, they were unable to find any problems with the molding and fan. As for the mirror, they suggested that I take it back to the dealer I bought it from. Despite my frustration, I am hopeful that the issues will be resolved soon. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

  2. Percy Gleichner 2024-11-08

The 2004 Trailblazer that I traded my Subaru Outback with 300,000 miles for turned out to be a mechanical nightmare. Despite the dealership's initial denial of any issues, my husband, who is a mechanic, discovered that the problem was a bad air pump, which Chevy refused to pay for. Despite sinking over $8,000 into the truck, we were stuck with it until 2010 when my husband traded it in for a 2010 Subaru. It's worth noting that Chevy stopped producing the truck due to excessive complaints. Additionally, the truck is not suitable for people with back problems. I am now the proud owner of a Subaru Outback once again, and I will never part with it again!

  3. Terrence Bogan 2024-11-03

The 2004 Trailblazer is a vehicle that has been known to have a number of issues, including problems with the front end, drivetrain, suspension, and electrical components. While it may have been a safer purchase when it was brand new and under warranty, buying a used one can be a risky proposition. It is important to do your research before making a purchase, and to consider the potential for frustration and hassle that may come with owning this vehicle. Overall, it may be best to stay away from the 2004 Trailblazer.

  4. Sherwood McKenzie 2024-11-01

Satellite radio, OnStar, sunroof, rear wiper, 4WD, and a trailer hitch - this car has it all! While it's certainly a comfortable ride, it would be even better with a more powerful engine. I was originally looking to trade down from a Tahoe to save on gas and emissions, but unfortunately, this L6 engine is quite sluggish and gets worse gas mileage (12-15 mpg) than my old V-8 Tahoe. Overall, I'm quite disappointed with this car.

  5. Deangelo Sporer 2024-09-12

In April 2004, I leased my vehicle, but by May 2004, I encountered an issue where the check engine light would turn on and the vehicle would lose power at speeds over 40. Despite my efforts, Dan Perkins was unable to identify the problem, and the technician who worked on my vehicle failed to list the issue on the work order, instead writing 'women complaining of problem.' In 2008, I was given the option to either purchase the vehicle or pay the dealer $4,000 to fix the problem. Unfortunately, the transmission eventually failed, and the car's fuel efficiency is now only 4 miles per gallon. Additionally, the rough ride exacerbates my back condition, and the noise level is unbearable. However, I am confident that with the right expertise and attention, these issues can be resolved effectively.

  1. Zachary Dibbert 2024-11-09

The Chevy Trailblazer is such a fantastic vehicle that you can own and be proud of for a long time. I was lucky enough to have it as my company car and after driving it for 4 years, I bought it outright and kept it as my weekend car. Now that I'm retired, it's become my primary vehicle and I couldn't be happier. It's truly the best car I've ever owned! It's amazing when you find a vehicle that just fits you and your lifestyle and never lets you down. Thank you so much, Chevy! Now I understand what my Dad meant when he said 'they don't make 'em like they used to'!

Congratulations on upgrading from an Impala LS to a Trailblazer! It's great to hear that you're pleased with the overall performance, especially during those 2 blizzards you drove in. While the gas mileage may be a bit of a bummer, it's good to know that you've only had to take it in for routine maintenance after 3 years and 30K miles. Thank you for sharing your experience!

I use my Trailblazer primarily for my business. It's a great vehicle to drive and easy to maneuver. I downsized from a Dodge Ram to the Trailblazer and it's been much easier on my wallet in terms of gas consumption.
