2018 Chevrolet Impala problems
The Chevrolet Impala (/ɪmˈpælə, -ˈpɑːlə/) is a full-size car that was built by Chevrolet for model years 1958 to 1985, 1994 to 1996, and 2000 to 2020. The Impala was Chevrolet's popular flagship passenger car and was among the better-selling American-made automobiles in the United States.
For its debut in 1958, the Impala was distinguished from other models by its symmetrical triple taillights. The Chevrolet Caprice was introduced as a top-line Impala Sport Sedan for model year 1965, later becoming a separate series positioned above the Impala in 1966, which, in turn, remained above the Chevrolet Bel Air and the Chevrolet Biscayne. The Impala continued as Chevrolet's most popular full-sized model through the mid-1980s. Between 1994 and 1996, the Impala was revised as a 5.7-liter V8–powered version of the Chevrolet Caprice Classic sedan.
In 2000, the Impala was reintroduced again as a mainstream front-wheel drive car. In February 2014, the 2014 Impala ranked No. 1 among Affordable Large Cars in U.S. News & World Report's rankings. When the 10th generation of the Impala was introduced for the 2014 model year, the 9th generation was rebadged as the Impala Limited and sold only to fleet customers through 2016. During that time, both versions were sold in the United States and Canada. The 10th-generation Impala was also sold in the Middle East and South Korea.

Common 2018 Chevrolet Impala problems
The 2018 Chevrolet Impala has been reported to have several common problems, primarily related to the climate system, electrical accessories, and the brake system.
- Electrical Accessories Problems:
The 2018 Impala has faced problems with in-car electronics, particularly with the wireless charging system. Some owners have reported that the original wireless charger does not work with iPhone X and 8 models, but a newer upgraded wireless charging module can be purchased and installed to improve wireless charging and support iPhone devices.

Upon spraking with and researching other impala owners, this is a common problem in the 3.6 engine Chevrolet Impalas but nothing has been done. The dealer has a plan to determine but it has always cost $1500+ to the customer.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-08-31
- VIN: 2G1125S30J9
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: answers to Questions from above 1. EVAPORATOR KIT 84409864 2. Not a safety issue to my knowledge. 3. Yes, issue was diagnosed and repaired at dealership. (Receipt for work - including part numbers will be attached with supporting documents) 4. No, no one outside of the dealership. 5. No warning lights but there was the smell of coolant in the cab of the car. Due to an issue with my 2018 Chevy Impala - V6 engine, I had to have the AC evaporator core replaced due to a leak (faulty part). Searching the NHTSA website, I found the below special coverage which seems to match my vehicle perfectly including the issue for which the special coverage was issued. I filed a claim with GM but continue to be told that my vehicle is not covered by this but no reason as to why it isn't covered. *Special Coverage N182186881 - Evaporator Core Icing, Leak *Quantity Part Name Part No. *1 EVAPORATOR KIT 84409864 This is concerning as a consumer as the issue and vehicle description matches the special coverage exactly, yet GM is stating that my vehicle is not covered. This issue clearly extends beyond the number of vehicles affected that was reported. Also, being replaced with the same part (part num) does give me pause that this will be an issue again in the future, costing consumers even more money and time.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-08-03
- VIN: 2G1105S38J9
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: The Evaporator core is leaking and a/c system is not operative. There is an outstanding report from your office, DCS4922, that outlines this condition perfectly. This report talks about a Special Coverage Adjustment #N182186881 Evaporator Core Icing, Leak, and an estimated number of vehicles involved. Since it is an estimated number of vehicles it means that GM doesn't know exactly how many vehicles are involved. It is my position that my vehicle should be included in the Service Adjustment. General Motors will not consider repair based on my VIN. This Special coverage addresses the exact issue I am experiencing. I have visited a Chevy Impala public forum and found there are others experiencing the same issue. Any help will be appreciated.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,WHEELS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-09-01
- VIN: 2G1105S30J9
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,WHEELS
- Summary: Tire pressure sensor system receiver (part of keyless entry system) will not collect info from individual tire pressure sensors in tires. Failure of this safety system would not provide and advance warning of low tire pressure.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-04-28
- VIN: 2G1105S31J9
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: While driving or idling (car in D/M, both automatic and manual), the car will rapidly shift to park and then back to where the shifter was set, usually in a lower gear that slows the car down or prevents acceleration. The transmission or speed sensor could be an issue. This can happen in rapid succession 3-5+ times in a row, which has led to a drop in speed from 65 MPH to 40 MPH, especially dangerous at faster speeds on a highway or when deceleration is occurring more quickly, like going up a steep hill. I am unsure what indication there is for cars that are behind me, but they have had to slow down or pass me in some instances to avoid hitting me. If it happens while turning at a 2 way stop or on an entrance ramp, my car might not accelerate fast enough to merge into traffic. There have been no lights on the dash, and the dealer has not been able to identify the issue when I have taken it in.

Literally someone said that I’m not holding the brake down when I’m starting it. I KNOW HOW TO START MY VEHICLE! It doesn’t want to start and sounds like a broke down Saturn when I start it. It takes like 20-30 seconds to start. ALSO that AC went out, I paid $700 AT Chevy, and then the AC went out again a few months later, again no one knows why. WTF!

You're getting a fantastic value with the Impala, which has always been a crucial aspect of this car. This latest model is a clear step up from its predecessors, with great style, ride, and comfort that make for a truly enjoyable driving experience. Personally, I'm thrilled with my Impala - I recently took it on a 2400 mile trip and averaged an impressive 32 miles per gallon at an average speed of 70 MPH. I'm hoping that Chevrolet will bring back a new version in the future, now that 2020 is the last year. If not, I'll simply look for a low mileage newer model in the future. Overall, I'm really pleased with this car.

You'll love the comfortable ride of this car! Plus, the Bose surround sound system is top-notch. It's clear that this large car was assembled with great care and attention to detail.
-
I shopped for 6 months before purchasing the Impala. I compared all vehicles of the same size and, in my opinion, the Impala gave the biggest bang for the buck. I am very pleased with my purchase as the car performs great.
-
Excellent quality, technology, comfort and value. I am so impressed with this vehicle!

This LTZ Premier was my father's car. It's extremely comfortable and smooth, with all the features and comfort of a Lexus. The V6 engine is very powerful, and I often feel like I'm well over the limit when I look down. The suspension and steering are fairly tight, not too plush like on other cars, but firm enough to handle well while still providing a smooth ride. The leather is of high quality, and the driver's seat is amazing for my back, with lumbar support that starts out low and rises as you keep the button down. The interior is of great quality, and the stereo is fantastic. It's also very quiet inside, highly insulated, and keeps cool on hot summer days. It's got 50k on it now, and while there were a couple of tire sensors replaced early on and a major AC component, everything has been 100% covered by the extended warranty we put on it. These cars have an excellent reputation for a reason, and I think that for the money, you really can't beat a used LTZ Premier. While gas mileage may not be the best, you don't buy it for that. Also, while it was odd that a major AC component costing $2500 went at 40k, stuff happens, and I accepted the dealer's diagnosis because it was under warranty. Overall, I highly recommend this car!

Make sure to consider getting extra warranty for your air conditioning unit, otherwise you may end up with a hefty repair bill like I did for my 3-year-old car. It's frustrating to deal with unexpected expenses, especially for a car that has received such good reviews.
Vidal Lebsack 2024-06-27
Other than the noise and uncomfortable seats, you'll find that this car has lots of power and is fun to drive.
Maxime Quigley 2024-05-18
The AC evaporator core has unfortunately become defective after only four years, resulting in a significant expense. Trunk leaks are a common issue with Impalas, and unfortunately, this vehicle is no exception. A hole in the flex pipe has also been identified after only two years, resulting in another costly repair. The shock absorber is not performing as expected, which can impact the overall driving experience. Additionally, road noise is quite high. However, it is worth noting that the V6 engine provides impressive acceleration and the vehicle handles well.

The 1984 Camaro soured me on buy a new Chevrolet ever again. I have test driven numerous GM models since then but none meet my expetations nor match the performance of the 1973 or 1978.

Hi there! I was wondering if you could help me locate the power in my car? I'm having some trouble with the V6 engine and I was hoping to get a refund. I'm a bit disappointed with the transmission as well. I recently purchased the Grand Pop Mobile, but I'm starting to regret my decision. Maybe I should have gone with a BMW instead. Thank you for your help!
