- Summary: I purchased this vehicle brand new in July 2023. By Jan 2024, it was already having major issues. The 2 major issues with this vehicle are 1) it had an engine misfire ( thus engine and fuel system issues) that cut the power to the vehicle and made it dangerous to drive and thus had to be in at the Genesis dealer service center 3 times (Jan, April and May 2024). The 2nd problem is electrical. On Oct 1st, 2024 the brake lights wouldn't turn off at all despite several troubleshooting attempts. That electrical problem drained the battery and after the car was jump started, after I started to drive, then the car cold died in the middle of the road. I had my 10 day old newborn in the car and I had to get out and stop cars that were driving towards me. Attached is the repair invoice for the engine misfire earlier this year and the car is currently at the repair facility for the electrical problem so no invoice has been generated yet.

The GV70 then started to deaccelerate. The speed dropped to around 50 mph. I continued to press the accelerator, but the car would not accelerate but the engine was revving (RPM hit around 5000) and then dropped back down. I continued driving with the speed varying between 45 and 55 mph even with the accelerator floored. As I got closer to Dallas, I could get the speed up to 60 - 65 mph with the accelerator floored but then on any incline, the speed would drop back to 45 - 50 mph. I had to turn the hazards on several times as the speed was well below the other vehicles. There were no warning lights. I was able to get the GV70 into a dealer the next morning who kept the car for 2 days. They ran diagnostics and drove the GV70 but could not replicate the problem nor did the diagnostics sow anything. They thought that maybe the car reset when it was turned off. - Summary: I purchased a new 2023 Genesis GV70 on [XXX] from the Genesis Janesville dealership. Within 3 months of driving the car, and less than 5,000 miles on the car, the breaks started to squeak. After approximately 8,000 miles, the all audio in the car malfunctioned and has not worked properly since. Additionally, I was driving on the interstate and the E brake engaged automatically (without engaging myself) and the car immediately deaccelerated from 75 miles to 35 miles within 3 seconds. Fortunately, it was early in the morning and there was no traffic, but if there was, it would certainly be life threatening. I immediately scheduled an appointment with Genesis dealership after the incident in Waukesha and dropped it off with their service team on [XXX]. The service manager (Derek) called me after dropping the vehicle off and noted that the emergency brake also malfunctioned when he was taking the car to the technicians. The service team indicated on [XXX] that they still have not found a solution to the audio issue. They also said they simply reset the car and after a 25 mile test drive the emergency brake did not go off and therefore the car should be safe to drive. Given the car has less than 10,000 miles and is already experiencing several issues, I strongly caution anyone from buying this vehicle. - Summary: We were driving up a mountain pass in a great deal of stop and go traffic. The engine died and a check engine light came on. It was difficult to get the engine started, but it did start. We called the genesis service line and they said that it was a warning and ok to drive but to take it into be looked at. We proceeded up the mountain pass slowly, but when we were out of traffic and needed to give the engine gas to accelerate up the hills, the engine would not speed up. We were driving on interstates where we could only go 25 mph up the hill when others were speeding by us driving 60+ mph so we had to drive with our hazards in the right lane and hope not to get hit. When going down the hills, the engine would speed up, but any hills meant the speed would decrease even when you were engaging the gas. According the warnings we receive via Genesis in my app, the problem was Diagnostic code P0087F0 and said it was powertrain and the subsystem was EMS. We took the vehicle into the dealer and they were unable to recreate the problem. They reset the computer to the manufacturer reset. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This should not be happening on a 2023 car with 5000 miles on it.

- Summary: I purchased this vehicle on February 27, 2023 from Genesis Johnson of Cary. When driving the vehicle away from the dealership (less than 200 miles) between 2/27/23 and 3/4/23, I started smelling a foul odor that smelled like fumes, burning, stale water. I contacted the dealership regarding these issues. I purchased an extended warranty. I was told that they could not help me. I read my contract that stated I could take the vehicle to any authorized dealership. During the time I drove the vehicle, there was massive amounts of rain. I told my sales person (Jim) that I thought something was terrible wrong. I am a person with multiple disabilities and am diagnosed with De quervain's disease, peripheral neuropathy, costochondritis, anemia, asthma, chronic rhinitis, PTSD, OCD, anxiety, depression and ganglion cysts. I requested an accommodation regarding sterilizing/ replacing the cabin filters. The dealership refused. To date, I do not know where the vehicle is located. The owner of the dealership where I purchased it (Carl Johnson) was notified. He harassed / retaliated while I was being medically treated in Louisiana, North Carolina, Florida and Georgia. To date, they still have my down payment, and have taken the vehicle and will not tell me where it is. Their attorney, Lee C. Hodge, also bullied / harassed /retaliated against me and threatened me with fees. Genesis Johnson of Cary refuses to refund my down payment of over six thousand dollars. My medical bills are substantial. The attorney for the dealership (Lee C. Hodge) continues to refuse to provide documentation regarding why his customers refused to honor the warranty I purchased and service the vehicle. My skin, lungs, hands, fingers, legs, arms have been severely damaged because of this vehicle. The same day I took the vehicle for service, I literally was standing at the service desk taking medication to help me breathe. The service director, Lemar, at Capital Hyundai also threatened me.

- Summary: While crossing through an intersection, the vehicle began to shutter and would not accelerate. I had just enough power to turn into a store parking lot where the vehicle lost all power, illuminated the battery warning light, and would not restart. After 30-45 minutes, the vehicle was able to start again using a jump box. I began a test drive around the parking lot and the vehicle shuttered again and lost all power while in the middle of the parking lot. At no point were we able to start the vehicle again however the battery continued to power the lights. Vehicle was towed to a nearby dealer. Prior to this there were a few instances where the vehicle either failed to start or failed to turn off after first pressing the Start/Stop button but I dismissed those as outliers since it would start up at the next activation. My vehicle lost power in the middle of a non-busy intersection and a quiet parking lot however this could've happened on a highway. It happens randomly at both city and highway driving speeds. It’s almost like the gears aren’t shifting or the vehicle doesn’t increase the speed. Sometimes a it would work fine after a key cycle. I’ve had a few instances of it and there’s no check engine light. I took a video of it from last night when it happened. It’s a big safety risk trying to pass other cars. On the freeway when it happens the vehicle doesn’t cross 60mph hour. It’s very delayed, and then if I cycle the throttle or change gears or downshift manually it’s jump 2000-3000 rpms and would still struggle to get past 80mph. I bought my vehicle in MI, noticed these issues on my current trip to FL. I intend to have a MI dealer diagnose it. Seems difficult without a check engine light or DTC.

- Summary: Experienced acceleration problem with my brand new Genesis GV70, only 7 mos. old. I backed car out of garage and onto my street, put car in "drive" and pressed down on gas to move forward, but car would not accelerate. This was only for a split second, and then it started to accelerate. It was strange, though, and had never happened before. I continued on my route and as I was entering an onramp to get on freeway, car would not accelerate again. Car maintained 20mph speed but would not go any faster as I pushed down on the gas peddle. I was able to pull off to side of the ramp. I turned engine off and restarted car, tried to move forward again, but again would not accelerate. Turned car off again, restarted, and this time, I was able to accelerate. Very scary to think of this happening if I was already on freeway with cars going 70+mph. I took car to dealership and they checked everything out, and did not find anything wrong with the car. They were not able to replicate the issue. I am now concerned because I was not imagining this happening and it was very scary. I am aware that some prior year Genesis models had problems like this and Genesis/Hyundai have issued recall notices, but not for my 2023 model. It seems to me that there is still an issue with the 2023 models, as I have read of similar cases like mine on several genesis owner forums. I don't know how many people have to report the issue before it is deemed a safety concern. Does someone have to be severely injured or die first? I am afraid to drive my brand new car.

- Summary: I purchased the vehicle on March 30, 2023, & my Check engine light has been on eleven times since June 2023. I was involved in a car accident on August 25, 2023, where the car appeared to have no gas. However, gas was in the vehicle, and the brakes were not operating correctly as I had to continue pumping the brakes to stop the vehicle. Furthermore, there is over $15k in damages and counting. I have been placed off work due to the injuries sustained in the vehicle accident due to the negligence of the manufacturer & dealer. I have left several messages for my Case Manager, [XXX] for several days, with unsuccessful attempts. [XXX] finally contacted me on 8/30/2023 @ 3:08 pm, apologizing for Genesis not living up to the “white glove” expectation advertised, and then she asked me what she could do for me. The call with [XXX] lasted 7-8 minutes. However, I constantly repeated myself, informing her of the information I stated in this email regarding my check engine light; my vehicle was serviced on Friday, June 30, 2023 (See Service History Below). Since then, the check engine light has illuminated nine other times with some of the same and or different codes. I had an appt to return my vehicle to the same dealership for the second time since June, as the dealership had the car for approximately eight/nine days. On August 12, 2023, I scheduled an appt. Per the system availability of August 25, 2023, @ 10 a.m. for Valet Pick-up. For confirmation of the scheduled appointment, I called GenesisCare on 8/23/2023, and the rep informed me that they did not have an appointment for me in the system. Furthermore, on several occasions, when I have attempted to make an appointment, the system does not recognize the appointment scheduled via the app or desktop. - Summary: I called the Genesis dealer on 7/20/23 as my car had 3 random incidents where the accelerator failed to respond as I came out of a turn at about 20 mph. After my appointment was set, that evening the vehicle came to an abrupt stop in the middle of the road with no warning. Had to restart car. This was a scare and dangerous situation. Car taken to dealer 7/21/23 for repair. I was told the water pump and sensor were replaced on a 11 month old car. I received my car back from the Genesis dealer on 7/26/23 and two days later, Friday, 7/28/23, the problem continued. While turning into the median to merge into traffic, I pressed the accelerator and the gas pedal stopped responding as the vehicle rapidly slowed down to stop in the road. Pressing on the gas pedal to accelerate the car did not help any as I felt like I was pumping air. I had to put on my hazard lights, move back into the median, and put the car in park. No warning lights on the car came on. I drove the car home (less than 2 miles) with the hazards lights on and called roadside to tow the car back to the dealership. it is very concerning to me that my GV70 continues to have a malfunction with slowing down or stopping without responding to the acceleration pedal. This puts me and my family’s safety at risk and is dangerous given than the car randomly and abruptly stops or slows down rapidly while I’m driving in traffic. The unreliability of the vehicle has me fearful of driving this vehicle. The repair made last week by replacing the water pump did not correct the defect with the GV 70. The vehicle is currently at the dealership in an effort to find the cause of the malfunction. Also, I noticed that the dealer paperwork given to had the problem I reported restated as a minor issue.

On 6 further incidents, the car lost power and died in other circumstances, including in a driveway immediately after starting up. These cases were not as dangerous as the highway failures. Check engine light does not come on. No codes thrown. Dealer will not inspect for another month. Dealer has not yet inspected. Fuel, all fluids, all general maintenance is in good condition. Vehicle has less than 14k miles. Car is available for inspection upon request.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

- Summary: Car does not detect collision, does not slow down approaching car in front during cruise control. Errors pop up daily that front radar blocked and collision avoidance is disabled. Cruise control error also pops up daily that front radar is blocked. Just got the car end of January. Had it to dealer twice. They still have it and don’t know how to fix it. It also stops all of a sudden at slow speeds when nobody is near me because it thinks a car is in front of me. Hurt my neck with this sudden stop three times. I have photos and videos of the errors Over many weeks.

- Summary: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Genesis GV70, GV80, G80, and G90 vehicles. The fuel pump may fail, which can result in a loss of drive power.
- Consequence: A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 7, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 022G. This recall is an expansion of recall number 23V-630.

- Summary: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Genesis GV80, 2021-2023 Genesis G80, 2022-2023 Genesis GV70, and 2023 Genesis GV60 vehicles. In the event of a crash, the front driver-side and/or passenger-side seat belt pretensioners may explode upon deployment.
- Consequence: An exploding seat belt pretensioner can project metal fragments into the vehicle, strike vehicle occupants, and result in injury.
- Remedy: Dealers will secure the seat belt pretensioners with a cap, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 14, 2023. For GV60 owners, Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed April 14, 2023. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 012G. This recall supersedes and expands recall number 21V-796. Vehicles previously repaired under recall 21V-796 will need to have the new remedy completed.

The driving panel may be congested and off center, and the cargo space may be limited, but overall everything is good. The haptics and technology are super responsive, and the ride and maneuverability are great. I've been driving it for almost 2 years now and haven't had any issues.

I picked up my 2023 2.5 Sport Prestige Mauna Red GV70 just before Thanksgiving (2022) and I absolutely love getting in it every time I need to go somewhere. Everything is so smooth and tight, making it feel very luxurious. I think the other luxury car brands (BMW/Audi/Benz/Lexus, etc.) might need to start looking over their shoulder at Genesis. The car looks great, drives great, rides great, and the tech is very intuitive and full-featured. I especially love flipping the drive mode to 'Sport' and feeling the seat bolsters firm up. The exterior styling is incredible...the vehicle looks amazing!

The car looks great, but unfortunately, it runs terribly. I had the front diff actuator replaced, but with that replacement, the front end started making a terrible noise. Although the dealers couldn't hear the noise, my friends who were in the car always commented on it. I contacted Genesis corporate with a case number, but unfortunately, received little help. I have purchased 3 Genesis cars in the past years, but I am disappointed to say that I will not be purchasing from them again. We call it the Covid car because it was made during those years. They will not be seeing my money again.

Although my GV70 is a beautiful car that receives many compliments, I have unfortunately experienced issues with it despite having driven it for less than 2,000 miles. At around 700 miles, I noticed a noise when accelerating, which I later learned is a common complaint among GV70 owners. While this has prevented me from fully enjoying my new car, I am confident that the dealership will be able to address the issue and restore my confidence in my purchase.

I have experienced two issues with my car in the past few months, which the technicians have been unable to resolve. Despite showing them videos of the problems, they have not taken my concerns seriously. I was informed that a software update was necessary, but even after retrieving my car the same day, the issue persisted. I have escalated the matter to the National level and am currently awaiting reimbursement for my rentals. Rest assured, I will not hesitate to involve the Attorney General if necessary.

While the 2.5 Advanced model comes with full leather seats, the Sport Prestige model has cloth seats with minor leather trim in both the front and back. We understand that this may be disappointing and not up to par with other cars in this category. We apologize for any confusion caused by the information and spec sheets, which may have been misleading. Despite this setback, we believe that the rest of the car is pretty great.

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my GV70. I've had it for a year now and unfortunately, I've had some issues with it. While I really like the SUV itself, I've had some trouble with the service. As someone who has owned luxury vehicles before, I expect quality service from the waiting area to the mechanics that work on my car. Unfortunately, I feel that Genesis falls short on both. I've noticed that they mix their non-luxury brands in the shops and waiting areas, which I think is poor planning. I've also had some trouble dealing with their Corporate Tech support, as I haven't received much help in resolving the problem that my local shop couldn't handle. Overall, I've had a poor experience and after having my GV70 sitting on the dealer lot for over 2 weeks with nothing resolved, I've decided to call it quits with Genesis.
