2019 Chevrolet Impala problems

chevrolet logo

The Chevrolet Impala (/ɪmˈpælə, -ˈpɑːlə/) is a full-size car that was built by Chevrolet for model years 1958 to 1985, 1994 to 1996, and 2000 to 2020. The Impala was Chevrolet's popular flagship passenger car and was among the better-selling American-made automobiles in the United States.

For its debut in 1958, the Impala was distinguished from other models by its symmetrical triple taillights. The Chevrolet Caprice was introduced as a top-line Impala Sport Sedan for model year 1965, later becoming a separate series positioned above the Impala in 1966, which, in turn, remained above the Chevrolet Bel Air and the Chevrolet Biscayne. The Impala continued as Chevrolet's most popular full-sized model through the mid-1980s. Between 1994 and 1996, the Impala was revised as a 5.7-liter V8–powered version of the Chevrolet Caprice Classic sedan.

In 2000, the Impala was reintroduced again as a mainstream front-wheel drive car. In February 2014, the 2014 Impala ranked No. 1 among Affordable Large Cars in U.S. News & World Report's rankings. When the 10th generation of the Impala was introduced for the 2014 model year, the 9th generation was rebadged as the Impala Limited and sold only to fleet customers through 2016. During that time, both versions were sold in the United States and Canada. The 10th-generation Impala was also sold in the Middle East and South Korea.

Common 2019 Chevrolet Impala problems

The Chevrolet Impala, discontinued in 2020, has been a long-standing model in Chevrolet's lineup. However, it has its fair share of issues, particularly in the transmission and engine departments.

One of the most common problems with the Chevrolet Impala, particularly in the 2000 to 2015 model years, is a faulty transmission pressure control solenoid.

In addition to transmission problems, the Impala has engine issues. For instance, 308 owners have reported a check engine light due to a gas cap problem.

The 2019 Chevrolet Impala, in particular, has had issues with its auto start/stop feature, which cannot be disabled on the LT model.

Another issue with the 2019 Impala is a malfunctioning fuel pump, which can cause the check engine light to come on around 52,000 miles.

Despite these issues, the Impala has the potential to last a long time with proper care and maintenance. It came in second in iSeeCars’ longest-lasting cars study, with a potential lifespan of around 230,343 miles. However, it is important for potential buyers to be aware of these common problems and consider them when deciding whether to purchase a Chevrolet Impala.

SUSPENSION,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-06-15
  • VIN: 2G11Z5SA9K9
  • Components: SUSPENSION,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
  • Summary: Several different instances I've had my parking brake release as soon as I go to move after being parked for a long period of time. (I never set my parking brake to begin with so I don't understand why it keeps telling me it's released) Once it tells me it's been released, it's followed by a rough jersey of the car and then I'm able to move. Ever since I bought the car, there was a small shake. The dealer had to cover the front strut assemblies that were going out at the time of purchase; but since then the shake is unbelievable. I've put tires on, checked all parts of the chassis, and don't see any visible defects that would cause the shake. They have no answers or ideas of how to fix it for me. The faux metal ring around the cupholders on the center console has been cracking since the date of purchase and it finally caught on a cup and broke and has cut myself and my child several times. I had to end up ripping the trim off just to be able to use the cupholders. Lastly, the car seems like it's not gaining enough power sometimes. I keep up on services and general maintenance, and nothing seems to help. It sounds like the exhaust is leaking, and again, there are no visible defects when looking under the car.

Negative 2019 Chevrolet Impala car reviews

  1. Deion Klocko 2024-11-28

If you are considering purchasing a Chevy product, it is important to be confident in your decision beforehand. The 2019 Impala has a sleek exterior and a comfortable interior, but there are some areas for improvement. The V6 engine provides decent power, but the power steering system and front end design can make it difficult to maintain control at high speeds. The transmission can also be slow and unresponsive at times. In terms of the interior, while it looks nice, there have been some reported issues with rattling and loose panels. Additionally, the climate control system could benefit from more manual control options. Overall, the Impala is a solid choice for those who prioritize style and comfort, but it may not be the best fit for everyone. The car's exterior features could benefit from some improvements. The headlights, door handles, and wheels could be designed to a higher standard. Additionally, the backup camera could be more reliable. Unfortunately, the issues with this car have led me to purchase a different vehicle. It is disappointing that the dealer has not been able to address these concerns. It is important to thoroughly research before purchasing a vehicle to ensure it meets your standards.

  2. Kellen Stark 2024-03-21

I purchased a 2019 Impala with 34,000 miles in September and it now has 39,000 miles. Although it looks great, I have to say it's not as responsive as my previous 2010 Impala with the 3.5 engine. I drive conservatively and unfortunately, this car doesn't respond well to light touches. However, I was able to sell it to my local Chevrolet dealer for $1000 more than what I paid for it, which was a pleasant surprise. With the current inventory shortage, many dealers are willing to pay more for used vehicles. I used the money to purchase a black 2011 Impala with the 3.5 engine, which I'm absolutely thrilled with!

  3. Mack Durgan 2024-03-01

Your Premier Impala looks and drives great! It has great handling with responsive steering and brakes, and the comfy seats make for a pleasant ride. The music and info system are also top-notch. However, it seems that the 20” tires come with very noisy high performance Firestone tires, which can be quite bothersome. It's unfortunate that you didn't receive any help from Firestone or the dealer. I hope your new Lexus 350ES provides a quieter and more enjoyable driving experience for you!

  4. Avery Wolf 2024-01-29

You can save a lot of money by purchasing a used Impala of the model you are looking for, rather than buying a new one. The LTZ or Premier models should not cost more than $30,000 brand new. While it is a nice looking car, it may not be worth the high price that dealers are offering. It is worth noting that GM is discontinuing this car, along with a few other mid-size GM cars. When considering purchasing these types of cars, it is important to be cautious as many GM cars have the same engine.

Positive 2019 Chevrolet Impala car reviews

  1. Patrick Spencer 2024-11-22

I'm so glad to hear that you've been enjoying your car for the past 2 years! It sounds like you made a great choice with the Mazda V6. Even with 30,000 miles on it, it's impressive that the car is still selling for the same price you paid. The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S-4s seem to have made a big difference in the handling, which is fantastic to hear. Thank you for sharing your positive experience and recommendation!

  2. Leopoldo Hartmann 2024-11-16

This is one of the best cars we have ever owned! By the way, did you know that there is an LT version with a V6 of this sedan that is comparably equipped like a premier but it’s $1000 cheaper? We currently own this production car and it has been great. I get a constant 30 miles to the gallon out on the open road and around 20 in the city. I have no complaints, we've owned it for three years now!

  3. Eino Bednar 2024-11-12

I love the Pepperdust's two-tone color scheme, which is complemented by the light-colored leather, Bose sound system, and 18-inch wheels that provide a smooth and quiet ride. While the car's acoustic glass helps to reduce noise, it may not be as effective on rough roads. If you're looking for even less road noise, you may want to consider upgrading to a Buick LaCrosse or Caddy CT6 sedan. The Pepperdust is one of the last V6 sedans available without the pesky 8-speed transmission or stop/start feature. The tried and true 6-speed transmission on the late model Impalas is a great option. Be sure to use the audio controls on the steering wheel to avoid rubbing off the infotainment screen finish. I learned this the hard way when I had the same screen on my 2013 Camaro and the previous owner toggled back and forth between two radio stations, resulting in two wear marks on the finish. After 14,600 miles, my Pepperdust still looks brand new and I couldn't be happier!

  4. Dorthy Spencer 2024-08-29

Hi there! I'm so glad to hear that you think it's a great car. I completely understand your sentiment about Chevrolet not making them anymore. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  5. Luther Kautzer 2024-04-28

The V6 LT is an amazing car with great get up and go. It's also surprisingly quiet thanks to the acoustic glass and triple sealed doors. My personal favourite features are the leather seats, Bose sound system with 11 speakers, and navigation. The blind spot and rear cross traffic alerts are also fantastic, without any annoying nanny features like lane departure or adaptive cruise control. Plus, it's not too techy. The 18 inch wheels have enough rubber to ensure a smooth ride without being too harsh.
