The Chevrolet Corvette is a line of American two-door, two-seater sports cars, manufactured and marketed by General Motors, under the Chevrolet marque, since 1953.

All Corvettes used front mid-engine configuration for seven generations, through 2019, and transitioned to a rear mid-engined layout with the C8 generation.

In 1953, GM executives accepted a suggestion by Myron Scott, then the assistant director of the Public Relations department, to name the company's new sports car after the corvette, a small maneuverable warship. The first model, a convertible, was introduced at the 1953 GM Motorama as a concept car; production models went on sale later that year. In 1963, the second generation was introduced in coupe and convertible styles. Originally manufactured in Flint, Michigan, and St. Louis, Missouri, the Corvette has been produced in Bowling Green, Kentucky, since 1981, which is also the location of the National Corvette Museum.

The Corvette has become widely known as "America's Sports Car." Automotive News wrote that after being featured in the early 1960s television show Route 66, "the Corvette became synonymous with freedom and adventure," ultimately becoming both "the most successful concept car in history and the most popular sports car in history."

    This car is truly unique and stands out from the crowd of modern vehicles. I personally love the 6-speed manual transmission, which is a rare find these days. One of the best things about this car is that it's a blank canvas, allowing you to customize it to your heart's content. With a higher compression piston package, it can even run in the 12's with just a few upgrades. While some parts may require a bit of sorting out, the overall supply is generally good. The only downsides are the chassis rigidity and the slightly tricky mechanics of getting in and out of the car. I also have an '89 model, and I must say that the GM redesign of the interior in 1990 was a bit of a letdown. However, this is still a fantastic and affordable sports car that is both reliable and fun to drive.

    The engine was designed by Lotus, built by Mercury Marine, and is a Chevrolet. While finding parts and certified mechanics can be a challenge, it is a very reliable engine that always runs strong. There are even examples out there with over 200,000 miles and they still run great!

    Bought it new and store it every winter. It is completely original down to the tires. Each spring is a kick in the pants when it is brought out of the garage. The 6 speed shifts smoothly and easily tops 100 in 3rd. On trips it always gets at least 28 miles per gallon. What more could you ask for? And when I bought it there was a $10k factory incentive so it only cost $28k new. Amazing!
