The Ford Festiva is a subcompact car that was designed and manufactured by Mazda for Ford between 1986 and 2002. Festiva was sold in Japan, the Americas, and Australia. The name "Festiva" is derived from the Spanish word for "festive". It was not related to the similarly sized and named Ford Fiesta, and was not replaced by the Ford Ka, which is smaller.
Designed by Mazda using the DA platform and B series inline-four engines, the Festiva continued the trend of Fords built and designed by Mazda for the Asia-Pacific market such as the Laser and Telstar.
South Korean first generation sales began in 1987 under the name Kia Pride, assembled by Kia under license. Australasia and Europe received the first version between 1987 and 1991 as the "Mazda 121". After 1991, Australasian sales occurred under the "Ford Festiva" name, while European sales continued under the name "Kia Pride". Kia ended production of the Pride in 2000. This ongoing production has been in parallel to the second generation Festiva introduced in 1993, sold as the Ford Aspire in North America and Kia Avella in South Korea and other markets. Although these second generation models were withdrawn in 2000, a third generation was sold between 1996 and 2002 in Japan as a badge-engineered version of the Mazda Demio.

This is my second Festiva. It always starts easily and runs like a charm. All I have to do is replace the muffler every couple of years and change the oil. Plus, it gets an impressive 35 mpg in the city! Despite its small size, the front seats are roomy and the rear seats have good headroom. When you fold down the rear seat, you can even haul large items like a stuffed chair. It handles like a little sports car in the city. I wish they made a new version that is as reliable as this one. Ford really hit the jackpot with this car. I love my Festiva because it's so much fun to drive!

This car was actually given to me as a present from a family friend who was moving out of the country. It was my first car. Despite having 122000 miles on it, it's still running well!

After a nuclear war, only two things will remain: roaches and Festivas. I purchased mine in '93 and it still runs strong with over 200,000 miles and still gets 43mpg. The only major repair I've had was a CV joint at 70,000 miles. For a work car to go from point A to point B, you can't beat it. However, I wouldn't recommend it for long trips. On the bright side, 12

The Festiva is an excellent and reliable successor to the Ford Fiesta. It has been my trusty companion through all kinds of weather and situations, always bringing me safely back to my family. Whether it's a weekend trip or a daily commute to Pittsburgh, this car has never let me down. Despite its age, it still stands out in a crowded parking lot and has a unique character that only comes from years of use. I know this car inside and out, and it suits me perfectly.

The gas mileage is just amazing! You can get about 300 miles on just 8 gallons of gas in city/highway driving, which is almost 38MPG! This car is truly amazing. So far, my expenses have been $150 for a new exhaust, $140 for rear brakes, and 3 oil changes at $20 each. And let's not forget about street parking - that's simply the second best feature of this car. It can fit in any spot!

I bought this car from my brother and it has been great! It has good gas mileage and is easy to fix and find parts for (except tires!). While it may not be the best option for families with kids due to its small size and lack of accident safety features, it has served me well for commuting to work. It has even survived moves from Utah to Arizona to Nebraska and to Texas, and has over 170k miles on it. While I wouldn't take it on long trips, I love it for my daily commute!
