1991 Chrysler New yorker problems

chrysler logo

The Chrysler New Yorker is an automobile model produced by Chrysler from 1940 until 1996, serving for several decades as either the brand's flagship model or as a junior sedan to the Chrysler Imperial, the latter during the years in which the Imperial name was used within the Chrysler lineup rather than as a standalone brand.

A trim level named the "New York Special" first appeared in 1938, while the "New Yorker" name debuted in 1939. The New Yorker helped define the Chrysler brand as a maker of upscale models that were priced and equipped to compete against upper-level models from Buick, Oldsmobile, and Mercury.

The New Yorker was Chrysler's most prestigious model throughout most of its run. Over the decades, it was available in several body styles, including sedan, coupe, and convertible.

Until its discontinuation in 1996, the New Yorker was the longest-running American car nameplate.

Negative 1991 Chrysler New yorker car reviews

  1. Logan Bahringer 2024-09-17

Your car sounds like it was a real adventure! I can tell you really enjoyed it, even with all the issues you had. The velour seats sound super comfy, but I can see why your kids might have thought the tufted back seat looked like the inside of a coffin. If you ever have the chance to get another one, I hope you do!

  2. Brendon Hayes 2024-03-07

We have owned this car since we bought it new from the dealer. It has seen two kids through high school and college and is still kicking. We've had only small repair problems along the way. Since the warranty was up, it's been a dream! Sure, it's now ugly and old and has the turning radius of an 18 wheeler, but it's reliable. Unfortunately, someone just hit it - insurance co. said it's totaled. You should see the other car, though. The New Yorker won big time. If you can find one still around, I think the car would be worthwhile for a few years to come.

Positive 1991 Chrysler New yorker car reviews

  1. Gussie Schmidt 2024-10-17

    I love this car.

  2. Jamel Beier 2024-05-09

Car runs great but the electrical system needs help.

  3. Loyal O'Hara 2024-01-21

The car is very comfortable and easy to drive. Although the interior design could have been better, it was probably top of the line back in 1990.

  4. Mac Heller 2024-01-02

Over 180,000 miles and still no mechanical problems! It still floats around the city and drives better than my Corolla. I have to constantly check my speedometer because when I'm going 95, it feels like I'm going slow.
