INTO THE DEALER AFTER EXPERIENCING SEVERAL MORE ADVERSE FAILURE INCIDENTS. THE DEALER CHECKED OUT THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE THROUGH RUNNING HIS DIAGNOSTICS. HE CONCLUDED THAT THE BATTERY WAS DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED IT ALLOWING US TO CONTINUE OUR TRIP. UNFORTUNATELY THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE RECURRED ON JUNE 21, 2014 WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN THE DALLAS, TX AREA AND AGAIN, TWICE, DRIVING AT APPROX. 40 MPH IN FRISCO, TX ON JUNE 23, 2014. THE LOCAL DEALER SERVICED THE VEHICLE ON THOSE DATES AND REPLACED THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP TELLS US THAT THIS DEFECT IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE WITH OUR ESCALADE, AS OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME UNRESOLVED PROBLEM, ACCORDING TO BOTH HIS OWN EXPERIENCE AND HIS CONVERSATIONS WITH THE CADILLAC TECHNICAL SUPPORT PERSONNEL.. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE CADILLAC CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER ABOUT THIS LOCKING ISSUE, TO NO AVAIL. THEY SIMPLY DENY THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT CANNOT BE REPLICATED AT THE DEALERSHIP. - Summary: General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 2500, Sierra 3500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in the states of AL, CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MS, SC, TX, PR, AS, GU, the MP, and VI or "Zone A." Additionally GM is recalling certain 2011-2014 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 2500, Sierra 3500, Yukon, Yukon XL and 2011-2013 Cadillac Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado 1500, and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in the states of AZ, AR, DE, DC, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, MO, NE, NV, NJ, NM, NC, OH, OK, PA, TN, VA, and WV or "Zone B." Additionally, GM is recalling certain 2010-2014 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 2500, Sierra 3500, Yukon, and Yukon XL and 2010-2013 Cadillac Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado 1500, and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in the states of AK, CO, CT, ID, IA, ME, MA, MI, MN, MT, NH, NY, ND, OR, RI, SD, UT, VT, WA, WI, and WY or "Zone C." These vehicles are equipped with non-desiccated passenger frontal inflators containing phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant. These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
- Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator with an alternate one, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on February 25, 2021. Second notification letters will be mailed once the remedy is available. Owner notification letters were mailed to 40 VIN owners on May 11, 2021. A second owner notification letter was mailed to all other owners on January 24, 2022. - Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado HD, Silverado LD, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra LD, Sierra HD, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the ignition lock actuator may bind, making turning the key difficult or causing the ignition to get stuck in the "Start" position.
- Consequence: If stuck in the "Start" position, the ignition may suddenly snap back into the "Accessory" position, causing a loss of engine, steering, and braking power, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. If the vehicle is in a crash, the air bags may not deploy, increasing the risk of occupant injury.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the ignition lock housing, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on February 12, 2015. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14696 for the original equipment, and 14912 for the service replacement parts.

After 9 years and 140,000 miles, we still love our EXT! It's the perfect vehicle for long road trips. The only downsides are that it can be a bit tricky to park in tight spots and the gas mileage isn't as high as we'd like, at 15 mpg city and 20 mpg highway. However, given the size of the vehicle, we find these numbers to be perfectly acceptable. We also opted for the bed slide, which has been an outstanding addition that makes accessing the bed storage area a breeze!

Nothing beats the ride and drive of a Cadillac Escalade truck, just as it should be.

This is the best truck that I have ever owned! The power, the ride, and the look are all amazing. I love the heated seats, retracting side step, Nav, and DVD - all of which are very nice features for a truck. The only issue I've had is with the passenger airbag. When it needed to be replaced due to a warning light, the dealer had trouble getting it to lay flush with the dash. They tried six times, but unfortunately, none of them worked.

The title of this vehicle is spot on. It's not a car that you buy for fuel economy, but rather a 400 horsepower beast with all-wheel drive capabilities. It fits my needs perfectly, whether I'm running around with the kids' sports equipment, going on golf outings with the boys, or showing up to corporate meetings. I've driven it in the snow up and down hills multiple times with no problems. The kids love the rear DVD and enjoy taking long trips in it.

I purchased a 2008 Cadillac 26 months ago, but unfortunately it has not lived up to my expectations. I have owned 4 Avalanches in the past (2002, 2003, 2005, 2007) and have enjoyed them all, but this Cadillac has been a disappointment. While it performs well in the winter, it struggles in the Texas heat. Despite taking it to the dealership multiple times, including having the owner of the dealership test drive it for a week, GM has refused to fix the shifting issue when the A/C is on. They even tried to intimidate me into accepting the problem or trading it in at a loss. As a loyal customer who has purchased several Cadillacs from this dealership, I am disappointed that GM is aware of the issue with the shifting and throttle body, yet has not taken action to resolve it. When I press the pedal to the floor, the truck jumps into first gear and then locks up when I apply the brakes.
