Common 2000 Gmc W4500 problems

The GMC W4500 2000 has been reported to have several common problems, primarily related to the throttle pedal, wheel bearing hub locking bolts, fire extinguishers, and the brake system.

  • Loose Wheel Bearing Hub Locking Bolts: Another recall was issued in 2017 for certain 2011-2016 NPR, 2011-2017 NPR-HD, NQR, NRR, 2015-2017 NPR-XD, 2012-2016 Reach, NPR Gas and NPR-HD Gas incomplete trucks. The left rear wheel bearing hub locking bolts may not have been properly tightened during assembly. The loose bolts can allow the wheel assembly to move outward from the axle housing, affecting the control of the vehicle and reducing braking performance, thereby increasing a risk of a crash.
  • Defective Fire Extinguishers: A recall was issued in 2018 for certain 2009-2014 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra, 2009 GMC Topkick 5000, 6000, 7000 and 8000 Series and Isuzu F Series, and 2009-2018 Chevrolet Express, and GMC Savana vehicles, equipped with certain Plastic-Handle Fire Extinguishers or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable.
  • Brake System Problems: Some owners of the GMC W4500 2000 have reported problems with the brake system, including brake lights staying lit on the dash, which could indicate an issue with the brake system.

These problems can cause inconvenience, safety risks, and potential accidents for the drivers of the GMC W4500 2000. It is important for owners to be aware of these issues and seek professional help to address them promptly.
