2011 Mercedes-benz A176 problems
W176 is the internal designation for the third-generation of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, which is a range of 5-door hatchbacks produced by Daimler AG under the Mercedes-Benz brand from July 2012 to May 2018. The model was introduced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show officially as a subcompact executive / C-segment model for the first time after being a supermini / B-segment for fifteen years. This model does not offer a 3-door model, due to the decreasing popularity of 3-door models and its larger size. The W176 was available in some markets from September 2012. Models in the Japanese market had went on sale in January 2013.
The A-Class is generally seen as a sportier and smaller alternative to the more practical and larger B-Class. Additionally, the W176 is the second vehicle to use the global, front-wheel-drive MFA platform (Modular Front Architecture), after the W246 which had arrived in November 2011, and before the C117, which had arrived in January 2013. Unlike the B-Class, which was available in a range of petrol, diesel, battery electric, and fuel cell, the A-Class is available only in petrol and diesel configurations. It is intended to be more dynamic than its predecessor and is focused primarily on younger owners.
The design for the third generation of A-Class was based on the 2011 Concept A-Class and was unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The facelifted model of the W176 was presented in Q3 2015. Orders for the facelifted model had started in July 2015, and mass production started in September. The facelift had added updated lights, technology, and models. The model was initially built exclusively in Rastatt, however from late 2013 was built in Uusikaupunki, Finland for specific countries.
Production of the W176 had ended in May 2018. It was replaced by the heavily related W177 which was presented on 2 February 2018, and was later released in May of that year. The new model was available in sedan form for the first time.

Common 2011 Mercedes-benz A176 problems
The Mercedes-Benz A176 2011 is a popular compact car that has been around for over a decade. While it is a high-quality vehicle, there are some common problems that owners have reported.
One of the most common problems is electrical issues. These can manifest in a variety of ways, such as dashboard warning lights, faulty sensors, or problems with the car’s infotainment system. Some common electrical issues include problems with the car’s battery, alternator, or starter motor. If the battery is not holding a charge or the alternator is not charging it properly, you may experience starting issues or find that the car won’t start at all. In addition, faulty sensors can cause warning lights to appear on the dashboard, which can be frustrating and sometimes expensive to diagnose and fix. To avoid electrical issues, it’s essential to ensure that your car’s battery and charging system are regularly checked and maintained.
Another common issue that Mercedes A-Class owners may experience is transmission problems. This can manifest as slipping gears, difficulty shifting, or unusual noises when driving. The transmission is a vital component of your car’s drivetrain and if it’s not functioning correctly, it can lead to significant issues down the line. Transmission problems can be caused by a variety of factors, such as worn or damaged components, low transmission fluid levels, or even software glitches. To avoid transmission problems, it’s important to have your car’s transmission fluid regularly checked and changed as recommended by the manufacturer. In addition, it’s important to avoid putting excessive strain on the transmission, such as by overloading the car or frequently accelerating and decelerating rapidly.
Suspension issues are also common in the Mercedes A-Class.
Steering rack failure is another common issue in A-Class models built before 2015. This problem can cause a clunking sound while driving and can cause damage to the steering rack, suspension system, and wheel bearings, requiring replacement and potentially compromising the car’s stability and handling.
Failing camshafts are also a common issue in A-Class models manufactured between July 16th and September 11th, 2015. This problem can cause an instant loss of power while also damaging other internal components. It’s essential to check if your car is affected by this issue and take preventive measures if necessary.
In summary, while the Mercedes A-Class is a high-quality, luxury vehicle, it is not immune to common problems that can arise over time. By keeping an eye out for these common issues and having your car regularly checked and maintained, you can help ensure that your A-Class continues to provide you with a smooth, safe, and enjoyable driving experience for years to come.

- Summary: ON DECEMBER 23, 2019 I FOUND OUT THE REAR SUB-FRAME MOUNT ROTTED OUT CAUSING THE CONTROL ARM TO DISENGAGE FROM THE SUSPENSION. ACCORDING TO MY GARAGE, THE CONTROL ARM HAS BEEN HITTING THE FUEL TANK. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR, IT WOULD RANDOMLY SWERVE, PARTICULARLY WHEN BRAKING, WHEN MAKING A GENTLE TURN OF THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE AT 60 MPH AND WHEN CHANGING LANES ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE IN CRUISE CONTROL. IT FELT AT TIMES AS THOUGH THE CALIPER WAS BAD OR AT OTHER TIMES THE WHEEL WAS LOOSE. OTHER TIMES, IT FELT LIKE THE POWER STEERING WAS GOING. MERCEDES BENZ ESTATE MOTORS IN GOLDEN'S BRIDGE JUST REPLACED THE AIRBAG FROM THE RECALL ON NOV 19 AND THEY DID NOT NOTICE THE SUB-FRAME WAS ROTTED OUT WHEN THEY DID THEIR SAFETY CHECK. MY GARAGE HAD TO DO SOME EXTRA TESTING AND DRIVING TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM AS IT IS NOT VISIBLY APPARENT WITHOUT DETAILED INSPECTION. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DEFECT AND THIS MODEL SHOULD BE RECALLED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I SEE IN 2014 MB RECALLED THEIR 2008 C CLASS FOR THIS SAME REASON!!! *LN CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER. *JB
