2013 Cadillac Escalade ext problems

cadillac logo

The Cadillac Escalade is a full-size luxury SUV manufactured by General Motors and marketed by their luxury division Cadillac. It was the luxury brand's first major entry into the SUV market. The Escalade was introduced for the 1999 model year in response to an influx of new luxury SUVs in the late 1990s such as the Mercedes-Benz M-Class, Range Rover, Lexus LX, and (especially) Ford's 1998 debut of the Lincoln Navigator. The Escalade project went into production only ten months after it was approved. The Escalade is built in Arlington, Texas. The term "escalade" refers to a siege warfare tactic of scaling defensive walls or ramparts with the aid of ladders or siege towers. More generally, it is a French word which is the noun-equivalent form of the French verb escalader, which means "to climb or scale".

The Escalade is currently sold in North America and select international markets (Europe and Asia) where Cadillac has official sales channels. The Escalade ESV (Escalade Stretch Vehicle) is sold in North America, Russia, and the Middle East, but is only available by special order in some international markets. The right-hand-drive Escalade and Escalade ESV are available through third-party conversion specialists without official agreement with Cadillac in Australian, Oceanic, and Japanese markets.

On August 8, 2023, GM unveiled the Escalade IQ, an all-electric version of the Escalade, and the third model in Cadillac's EV line, after the Celestiq, and Lyriq. It is expected to go on sale in late 2024 for the 2025 model year, with a starting price of $130,000.

Negative 2013 Cadillac Escalade ext car reviews

  1. Stephan Sipes 2025-01-07

The Cadillac Escalade EXT is a great vehicle mechanically. However, the paint on this particular model seems to be flawed. I have a 2013 Cadillac Escalade EXT with 45,000 miles that is garage kept, but unfortunately, the paint is peeling above the window. It's disappointing that the paint job is not up to par, especially considering the price of the vehicle. I have pictures available if needed.

  2. Jaden Monahan 2024-09-23

Looking for a comfortable towing vehicle? Look no further! While the bed cover may leak (something the dealer may not mention, but is in the vehicle manual), the towing ability is top-notch. However, it's worth noting that the back seat may not be the most comfortable for adults, even for someone as petite as myself at 5'2

  3. Conrad Skiles 2024-05-19

I purchased a 2008 Cadillac 26 months ago, but unfortunately it has not lived up to my expectations. I have owned 4 Avalanches in the past (2002, 2003, 2005, 2007) and have enjoyed them all, but this Cadillac has been a disappointment. While it performs well in the winter, it struggles in the Texas heat. Despite taking it to the dealership multiple times, including having the owner of the dealership test drive it for a week, GM has refused to fix the shifting issue when the A/C is on. They even tried to intimidate me into accepting the problem or trading it in at a loss. As a loyal customer who has purchased several Cadillacs from this dealership, I am disappointed that GM is aware of the issue with the shifting and throttle body, yet has not taken action to resolve it. When I press the pedal to the floor, the truck jumps into first gear and then locks up when I apply the brakes.

  1. Theo Morissette 2024-10-08

This is my fourth EXT and by far the best. It rides like a luxury car not a truck. After 20,000 miles it still rides like I just purchased it. Plaudits to Cadillac on this one.

  2. Marley Lindgren 2024-09-21

I recently upgraded from my '04 EXT to an '07 model. I'm really impressed with the improved fit and finish, and the new engine is incredibly powerful. However, I have noticed some issues with the 6-speed transmission, as it seems to be constantly shifting and causing a severe vibration when in overdrive. Thankfully, the dealership I purchased from has an excellent service department and they are currently investigating the issue. Despite this setback, I'm confident that my new vehicle will be running smoothly in no time!

  3. Flavio Maggio 2024-09-05

The new Cadillac Escalade EXT is a fantastic upgrade over the '06 model. The styling, engine, and cabin have all been improved, making it one of the most impressive vehicles on the road!

  4. Rodrick Denesik 2024-09-02

My truck was the best investment ever. It's got all the luxuries of the CTS with much more room and storage. It's a truly awesome family vehicle!

  5. Gust Klein 2024-08-24

This is the best truck that I have ever owned! The power, the ride, and the look are all amazing. I love the heated seats, retracting side step, Nav, and DVD - all of which are very nice features in a truck. The only issue I've had is with the passenger airbag. When it needed to be replaced due to a warning light, the dealer had trouble getting it to lay flush with the dash. They tried six times, but unfortunately, none of them worked.
