STATED ALL BRAKE LINES NEEDED REPLACING ALONG WITH BRAKE CALIPERS DUE TO CORROSION. THEY WOULD HAVE TO RAISE BODY FROM CHASSIS FOR ACCESS. BILL WOULD BE $3000 TO $4000. THEY WOULD GLADLY TAKE THIS CAR IN TRADE FOR A NEW GM VEHICLE. THIS CAR HAD ALL NEW BRAKES INSTALLED AT GM DEALER IN 2013 AND THERE WAS NO MENTION OF CORRODED BRAKE LINES. *TR

- Summary: ON CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE GALVANIZED STEEL TAILGATE SUPPORT CABLES THAT RETAIN THE TAILGATE IN THE FULL OPEN (HORIZONTAL) POSITION MAY CORRODE, WEAKEN, AND EVENTUALLY FRACTURE. IF BOTH CABLES FRACTURED, THE TAILGATE WOULD SUDDENLY DROP AND STRIKE THE TOP SURFACE OF THE REAR BUMPER.
- Consequence: ANYONE SITTING OR STANDING ON THE HORIZONTAL SURFACE OF THE TAILGATE WHEN BOTH CABLES FRACTURED COULD BE INJURED BY FALLING FROM THE TAILGATE. ON VEHICLES THAT HAVE HAD THE BUMPER REMOVED, THE TAILGATE MAY DROP EVEN LOWER. ADDITIONALLY, IF THERE IS CARGO ON THE TAILGATE THE CARGO MAY FALL OFF IF THE SUPPORT CABLES FRACTURE.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CABLES. INTERIM OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON APRIL 7, 20004. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 24, 2004, WHEN REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE AVAILABLE, AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH OCTOBER 29, 2004. If you're wondering whether the Escalade Ext is a reliable truck, I can tell you from personal experience that it is. My 2002 model is still going strong in 2022, with over 300,000 miles on it and many Canadian winters under its belt. Although the rocker panels needed some minor work, the frame and the rest of the truck are in excellent condition. I drive it every day and have saved a lot of money thanks to its dependability. My mechanic says it probably won't need to be replaced for another 10 years at least. Overall, the Escalade Ext has been a fantastic product for me for the last 17 years, with no major issues, just regular maintenance.

These trucks are truly amazing and will change your opinion on modern vehicles. They have so many cool features that it's hard to keep track, and they strike the perfect balance between luxury and utility. One of my favorite features, which is not very well-known, is the mid-gate behind the rear seat. It allows you to remove the rear window and mid-gate to fit cargo that would require an 8ft truck bed. During the summer, I like to take it out for a more open-top jeep feel with the windows and sunroof down. The air suspension is incredibly smooth, even on the notoriously rough Michigan roads, and the AWD system is top-notch. I recently drove in 10 inches of snow and felt completely confident at 70mph on the expressway. The High Output LQ9 is also worth mentioning, as it runs noticeably better than the standard 6.0 truck engine and can be easily upgraded for even better performance. It's true that the gas mileage isn't great, with the best you can hope for being 16mpg and the average being closer to 13mpg. Additionally, it requires premium fuel. However, as they say, you have to pay the cost to be the boss. I loved my first EXT (Black 2002) so much that I bought my wife one (White 2003).

When I first saw that this car was going to be released, I knew I wanted it. I was looking for a functional vehicle that also had style, and I was torn between an SUV or a pickup truck. I needed something that could fit an ATV and at least five people comfortably for long trips. The EXT can do all that and more. When towing with the EXT, you forget that the trailer is even there. When I went to the dealer and test drove it, I knew I had to have it. The seats are as comfortable as the recliners I have in my living room.
