2012 Volvo Xc70 problems

volvo logo

The Volvo V70 is an executive car manufactured and marketed by Volvo Cars from 1996 to 2016 across three generations. The name V70 combines the letter V, standing for versatility, and 70, denoting relative platform size (i.e., a V70 is larger than a V40, but smaller than a V90).

The first generation (1996–2000) debuted in November 1996. It was based on the P80 platform and was available with front and all-wheel drive (AWD), the latter marketed as the V70 AWD. In September 1997, a crossover version called the V70 XC or V70 Cross Country was introduced. The sedan model was called Volvo S70.

The second generation (2000–2007) debuted in spring 2000. It was based on the P2 platform and, as with its predecessor, was also offered as an all-wheel drive variant marketed as the V70 AWD and as a crossover version initially called V70 XC. For the 2003 model year, the crossover was renamed to XC70. The sedan model was called Volvo S60.

The third generation (2007–2016) debuted in February 2007. It was based on the P3 platform and marketed as the V70 and the XC70. Production of the V70 ended on 25 April 2016, the XC70 continued until 13 May 2016. The sedan model was called Volvo S80.

Common 2012 Volvo Xc70 problems

The Volvo XC70, produced from 1999 to 2016, is known for its reliability and safety features. However, some specific model years and issues have been reported more frequently than others.

  • Control Arm Bushings: Drivers of the 2013 Volvo XC70 have reported premature wear of front control arm bushings, causing knocking or squeaking sounds and potential wheel alignment issues. This problem has also been reported for the 2003-2010 model years.
  • Shifting-Related Problems: The 2012 Volvo XC70, as well as the 2003-2008 and 2010-2012 model years, may experience shifting problems, including delays, harder shifts, or complete transmission failure.
  • Oil Consumption: The 2012 Volvo XC70 has been reported to have oil consumption issues, with the "Check Oil" warning appearing around 25,000 miles. This issue may require piston replacement, as experienced by one owner at 29,200 miles.
  • DSTC Light: The Service DSTC light coming on has been reported as an issue in the 2012 Volvo XC70. This light may indicate a problem with the Dynamic Stability and Traction Control system, which requires further investigation by a dealer.

While these issues are not universal to all Volvo XC70 model years, potential buyers should be aware of these common problems, particularly in the 2003, 2012, and 2013 model years. Regular maintenance and inspection can help mitigate these issues and ensure the longevity and reliability of the vehicle.

VISIBILITY PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-06-27
  • VIN: YV4952BL5C1
  • Components: VISIBILITY
  • Summary: Windshield leaking for about 2 tears got worse and was found to be "loose windshield and mobile" and "hazardous" by technician.
2021-12-05

VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2021-11-20
  • VIN: YV4952BZ5C1
  • Components: VISIBILITY/WIPER
  • Summary: Windshield seal leaking at top. This started a few weeks ago, I noticed water drips run down the inside of the windshield in front of the driver. I took a 4-hour trip last week and it rained for 30 minutes, the leak became worst causing me to need to wipe the inside of the windshield. Yesterday, I went through the car wash and water pour down onto the dashboard, instrument cluster, steering wheel, and airbag. I have to get paper towels and dry things before I could drive. Today, I drove to the grocery in light rain, not a big problem when driving at speed however when going slower or braking water runs down the inside of the windshield. I now carry a small towel to wipe and dry the windshield. This is affecting the visibility and safety of driving the car.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2016-06-01
  • VIN: YV4952BL4C1
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER
  • Summary: THE SEAL FOR THE WINDSHIELD HAS FAILED ALONG THE TOP PASSENGER SIDE. FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, ONE CAN PUSH THE WINDSHIELD ENOUGH TO SEE A GAP. WATER ENTERS WHEN RAINING; I BELIEVE THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE IS THE SEAL COMPLETELY FAILS. IT STARTED AT ABOUT 55 MONTHS AFTER DELIVERY AND 24,000 MILES.
2020-10-03

STRUCTURE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2020-10-02
  • VIN: YV4952BZ7C1
  • Components: STRUCTURE
  • Summary: WHILE DRIVING, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR HAS UNLATCHED AND THE DOOR OPENS SLIGHTLY ON AT LEAST 5 OCCASIONS. THIS HAS OCCURRED ONCE WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND 4 OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. THE AUTOMATIC LOCKING SYSTEM TRIES TO LOCK ALL DOOR AND THE SYSTEM SIGNALS THE DOOR IS OPEN. I STOP THE CAR AS SOON A POSSIBLE, PARK AND WALK AROUND TO THE PASSENGER DOOR TO FIND THE DOOR HANDLE LOCKED. THE LOCKING SYSTEM SEEMS TO BE WORKING BUT THE LATCH IS FAILING. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD ME ORDER A PART # 31253662-LOCK. THE DEALER STATED THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY OR RECALL. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE AND INSIST THIS IS A RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MANUFACTURER. I FOUND A RECALL FOR OTHER VOLVO MODELS WITH THE SAME ISSUE BUT THIS DOES NOT COVER MY VEHICLE.
2020-03-16

STEERING PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2020-03-16
  • VIN: YV4902BZXC1
  • Components: STEERING
  • Summary: THE STEERING WHEEL STICKS AND HESITATES AND WON'T TURN. THEN IT FINALLY DOES. SOMETIMES IT SEEMS WORSE WHEN COLD. IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MANY DEALERS AND MECHANICS AND THEY CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT. JUST RECENTLY PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, I WAS USING THE GAS, AND IT WOULD NOT TURN AND I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO HIT A TREE. ANOTHER TIME WHILE DRIVING N A ROTARY IT FROZE. MANY TIMES WHILE TURNIING INTO A PARKING PLACE IT LOCKS UP.

STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2019-12-25
  • VIN: YV4902BZ3C1
  • Components: STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY/WIPER
  • Summary: TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 VOLVO XC70. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN, WATER WAS ENTERING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THE WINDSCREEN FAILED AND CAUSED THE FRONT WINDSHIELD TO BECOME UNSECURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VOLVO OF MONTEREY IN SEASIDE, CA WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDOW SEAL WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2019-05-23
  • VIN: YV4952BZ7C1
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 VOLVO XC70. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH AND APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE BEFORE SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN A BIT, BUT CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD. THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO VOLVO CARS SILVER SPRING (LOCATED AT 3121 AUTOMOBILE BLVD, SILVER SPRING, MD 20904, (301) 890-6200) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT BOTH REAR BRAKE ROTORS AND BOTH REAR CALIPERS WERE NOT THE CORRECT PARTS FOR THE VEHICLE. IN FEBRUARY OF 2019, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NATIONAL TIRE AND BATTERY TO HAVE THE PARTS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,898.
2017-12-10

STRUCTURE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2017-11-27
  • VIN: YV4952BL3C1
  • Components: STRUCTURE
  • Summary: I NOTICED WATER INTRUSION WHILE VIA THE TOP DRIVER SIDE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD DURING A HEAVY RAIN. AT STOP AND UPON INVESTIGATION I NOTICED WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD THE WINDSHIELD WAS SEPARATING FROM THE FRAME ALONG THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD. IN DISCUSSING THIS PROBLEM WITH A AUTO GLASS REPLACEMENT SPECIALIST (GLASSDOCTORS) THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY BEEN FIXING MANY OF THESE ISSUES FOR THE LOCAL VOLVO DEALERSHIP. THE CONCERN FROM A SAFETY STANDPOINT IS THE INTEGRITY OF THE WINDSHIELD IN THE EVENT OF A FRONT END COLLISION. IT SEEMS THAT VOLVO IS NOT INDICATING A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I QUICK INVESTIGATION OF THE INTERNET INDICATES THAT IT IS A GROWING PROBLEM.
2017-03-29

VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2017-01-15
  • VIN: YV4902BZ3C1
  • Components: VISIBILITY/WIPER
  • Summary: WATER STREAKING WAS NOTICED ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT. WE CLEANED THE WINDOW IN CASE THE STREAK WAS LEFT FROM A PREVIOUS CLEANING. DURING A RAINSTORM A FRESH DRIP OF WATER WAS MOVING DOWN THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND SAW THAT THERE ARE ISSUES WITH THE BONDING OF WINDSHIELDS ON VOLVO CARS SO I PUSHED ON THE WINDOW LIGHTLY FROM THE INSIDE AND SAW THE WINDSHIELD MOVE ABOUT 1/16 INCH ON BOTH SIDES. THERE WAS LITTLE RESISTANCE TO MOVEMENT. THE CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH SENSORS MOUNTED TO THE WINDSHIELD WHICH SERVE TO MAINTAIN FOLLOWING DISTANCE TO OTHER VEHICLES AND ALSO ACT AS SAFETY DEVICES TO AVOID COLLISIONS WITH VEHICLES AND PEDESTRIANS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE AIRBAG PUSHES AGAINST THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD WHEN DEPLOYED AND AN UNBONDED WINDSHIELD WILL NOT SERVE TO HOLD PASSENGER IN PLACE. IF THE WINDSHIELD IS SEVERELY UNATTACHED IT COULD COME OUT OF THE VEHICLE DURING OPERATION.
2017-03-24

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2017-03-14
  • VIN: YV4940BZ4C1
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: RECENTLY, MY HUSBAND'S VOLVO XC70 BEGAN LEAKING WATER. WE TOOK IT TO OVERLAND PARK VOLVO FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. THEY STATE THE WINDSHIELD SEAL HAS BROKEN AND THAT IS WHY IT IS LEAKING WATER. IT IS A FACTORY INSTALLED WINDSHIELD. THEY STATED IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT A GLASS REPAIR COMPANY WOULD NEED TO FIX IT. SO, WE TOOK IF TO SAFELITE. ALTHOUGH OUT INSURANCE IS COVERING REPLACING THE WINDSHIELD, BECAUSE THEY CANNOT SIMPLY RESEAL IT, SAFELITE STATES THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY VOLVO DIDN'T COVER IT UNDER THEIR WARRANTY DUE TO DEFECTIVE INSTALLATION. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT THE VOLVO DEALERSHIP ADVISED US AND SAFELITE THAT THE SEALS ROUTINELY BREAK ON VOLVOS AND CAUSE WATER TO LEAK IN THE VEHICLE. THERE IS NO REASON WHY THE SEAL SHOULD NOT LAST THE LIFETIME OF THE WINDSHIELD OR LIFESPAN OF THE VEHICLE, BECAUSE THERE ARE PRODUCTS ON THE MARKET THAT GUARANTEE THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN. WHILE WE ARE FORTUNATE TO HAVE A $0 GLASS DEDUCTIBLE, OTHER VOLVO CUSTOMERS THAT DO NOT HAVE THIS DEDUCTIBLE WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT-OF-POCKET TO REPAIR VOLVO'S DEFECTIVE WORKMANSHIP. IN ADDITION, WATER LEAKING INTO A VEHICLE CAN CAUSE ALL TYPES OF CORROSIVE DAMAGE. IN OUR VEHICLE ALONE, THE WATER LEAKED ALL OVER THE FLOORBOARD, ALL OVER THE LEATHER SEATS, ALL OF THE GEAR SHIFTING MECHANISM, ETC. IF THE WATER WERE TO GO INTO THE GEAR SHIFTING MECHANISM, IT COULD COST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGES. SAME GOES FOR COMPONENTS THAT ARE LOCATED UNDER THE FLOOR BOARD. IT COULD ALSO POSE AS A SAFETY HAZARD ON THE HIGHWAY IF THE SEAL IS BROKEN OR IF THE VEHICLE MECHANICALLY FAILS DUE TO CORROSIVE PARTS.

SEAT BELTS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2012-12-20
  • VIN: YV4902BZ4C1
  • Components: SEAT BELTS
  • Summary: SEAT BELT WON'T RELEASE CONSISTENTLY. PRESSING THE RELEASE BUTTON IN FEELS "MUSHY" AND THERE IS NO RELEASE CLICK. I HAD THE RELEASE REPLACED, BUT SAME ISSUE. LATER MODELS (2014) WORKED CRISPLY. I ASKED IF THEY COULD INSTALL A LATER MODEL RELEASE IN MY CAR, BUT TOLD THAT IS "ILLEGAL". WORRIED I MIGHT HAVE TROUBLE EXITING THE CAR IN AN ACCIDENT.

STEERING,WHEELS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2015-04-01
  • VIN: YV4902BZXC1
  • Components: STEERING,WHEELS
  • Summary: THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE VEHICLE WANTS TO "CLIMB OR STEER" INTO THE HIGH SIDE OF LONGITUDNAL GROOVES ON THE DRIVING SURFACE. CONSIDERABLE FORCE HAS TO BE MAINTAINED ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM STEERING/RUNNING OFF THE DRIVING SURFACE EITHER INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR OFF THE ROADWAY OR INTO ANOTHER LANE OF TRAFFIC. WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION DRIVING STRAIGHT AHEAD, THE INCIDENT CAN OCCUR ON A STREET OR ON A HIGHWAY. THIS SITUATION OCCURS ON STREET AND HIGHWAY SURFACES THAT ARE WORN/GROOVED DUE TO THE USE OF STUDDED TIRES AND HEAVY LOADS. THE TIRES ARE INFLATED TO THE MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATION, A FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT HAS BEEN DONE FOUR TIMES, THE STEERING RACK AND STRUTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE TIRES HAVE APPROXIMATELY 4/16TH INCH OF TREAD REMAINING. THIS SITUATION OCCURS ON BOTH WET AND DRY SURFACES. VOLVO'S CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS CONTACTED. THEIR RESPONSE WAS "THEY WERE SORRY THAT I WAS HAVING THIS PROBLEM'. THEY OFFERED NO HELP/RESOLUTION. I TOLD THEM THAT I WANTED TO PUT A NARROWER TIRE WITH A HIGHER ASPECT RATIO. THEY THEN INFORMED THAT MY PRESENT TIRE SIZE WAS THE ONLY TIRE SIZE THAT THEY WOULD APPROVE TO BE USED ON THIS CAR. UNLESS THE DRIVER OF THIS CAR STAYS EXTREMELY ALERT, ----- IT IS A DEATH TRAP JUST WAITING TO HAPPEN. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE APRIL 2015 AND IS NOT THE RESULT ON AN INCIDENT/ACCIDENT/CRASH OR ANY OTHER PHYSICAL DAMAGE. PS: I HAVE A 1946 CHEVROLET PICKUP (STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL OEM CONFIGURATION) THAT IS EASIER TO CONTROL DRIVING THE SAME ROAD SURFACES. SO MUCH TO SAID FOR TECHNOLOGY AND SPACE-AGE ENGINEERING.

TIRES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2013-06-30
  • VIN: YV4952BZ0C1
  • Components: TIRES
  • Summary: THIS IS SECOND OCCURRENCE WITH CONTINENTAL TIRES ON MY 2012 VOLVO XC 70. SIDE WALL SHREDDED WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING 35 MPH CAUSING BLOWOUT AT 14,000 MILES FIRST BLOWOUT OCCURRED WHEN VEHICLE WAS ONLY A FEW MONTHS OLD. VOLVO REPLACED TIRE AND CHARGED ME $270 SAYING DEFECTIVE TIRES WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THESE ARE THE CONTINENTAL 4X4 CONTACT TIRES AND I AM NOW REPLACING ALL 4 TIRES WITH ONLY 14,000 MILES WITH ANOTHER BRAND. *TR

VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2013-01-11
  • Components: VISIBILITY/WIPER
  • Summary: WINDSHIELD WIPER SPEED ON HIGHEST SETTING IS UNABLE TO KEEP UP WITH MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN. CALLED DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING AND WAS TOLD THAT NUMEROUS OTHER CUSTOMERS HAD CALLED AS WELL AND THAT IT IS A VOLVO ISSUE THAT AFFECTS NEARLY ALL MODELS. *TR

Negative 2012 Volvo Xc70 car reviews

  1. Lionel Fay 2024-10-22

The Volvo XC70 wagon I purchased new with AWD has only 54K miles. While maintenance costs are a little pricey, it is expected to maintain any car. However, I have experienced some unexpected issues with this car that should not have occurred in a vehicle that is treated with care. Despite being driven gently by a senior lady, the RAD sensor failed twice in the first 34K miles. At 53K miles, the passenger seatbelt retractor failed, and the engine vacuum pump was leaking. Additionally, the ABS/DTSC light came on, and the brakes stopped the car dead in the middle of an intersection due to a sensor issue. I have my doubts about the diagnosis, and the estimate for repair is $350. While checking out the light, the mechanic found that the front rear spring was broken, which cost $750 plus $150 for alignment. These are things that should last the life of a car and should not fail in a well-maintained vehicle. At 50K miles, the windshield started to leak, and the mechanic found that it was not glued in properly. I have never had to replace a coil spring or a seat belt retractor in my 55 years of owning cars, and it is concerning that these safety-related parts failed. The DTSC issue is also alarming, as it stopped the car dead in an intersection and did not respond even when I pressed the accelerator to the floor. I have owned cars that I ran for over 230K miles and never had issues like this. Update 10/8/20: The dealer suggested replacing the air cleaner and spark plugs, which cost $75 and $260, respectively. While I still have concerns about the car, I will consider these repairs to see if they improve its performance. The headlights failed within a week of each other due to the Volvo daytime running lights that cannot be turned off. This is because Volvo insists on putting DRL's on your car that are not required by law and gives you NO option to turn them off. However, changing the bulbs is a simple process that can be done by yourself after watching the mechanic do it. The headlights are held in by two clips that can be accessed under the hood. My low opinion of Volvo continues.

  2. Clark Tromp 2024-08-12

I have owned four Volvos in the past and loved the first three, including the 2002 v70 and the 2006 s60. When I decided to buy a new Volvo, I expected the same level of quality. However, I was disappointed to find that the headlights were not suitable for night driving above 45 mph, despite having a visor over them. Despite my attempts to adjust them, they still did not provide adequate visibility. Unfortunately, the Volvo dealers were unable to offer any solutions. As a result, I had to sell the car due to safety concerns. While I was disappointed with this experience, I still believe that Volvo is a reputable car company and I hope that they will address this issue in the future.

  3. Dudley Schamberger 2024-04-10

I recently purchased a Volvo XC70 wagon with AWD and it only has 54K miles on it. While I have had some maintenance costs, I believe that is to be expected with any car. However, I have had some unexpected issues with the car that have been frustrating. Despite being driven gently by a senior lady, the RAD sensor failed twice in the first 34K miles and the passenger seatbelt retractor failed at 53K miles. Additionally, the engine vacuum pump was leaking and the ABS/DTSC light came on, causing the brakes to stop the car dead in the middle of an intersection. While I have my doubts about the sensor, the mechanic estimated it would cost $350 to fix. I also had to replace a broken rear coil spring and a leaking windshield. While these issues have been frustrating, I understand that cars require maintenance and repairs. However, I was disappointed that these issues occurred in a car that has been treated well and has had no accidents or hard use. Overall, I still believe that Volvos are good cars, but I would caution potential buyers to be aware of potential maintenance costs and unexpected issues. The suspension of this supposedly premium car is a simple trailing arm suspension with separate tube shock. Once unbolted, the spring can be removed by hand. However, I found the 'top hat' to the coil spring to be rusty, which is unacceptable for a car with such low miles. The quality is missing. If you're considering buying a Volvo, I would advise against it. I had to wait 7 days for the spring to be shipped, but I was able to put it in myself in about 45 minutes once I had the car jacked on stands. You can find a demo of someone doing this on YouTube. By the way, I believe the RAD sensor is part of the smog equipment, and it's supposed to be warranty covered for 10 years by law, but unfortunately, they wouldn't cover it. Update: at 65K miles, the hood latch got stuck open, and I couldn't access it to lube it like a normal car because it was hidden. So, I had to take it to the shop. At 67K miles, the RH daytime headlamp went out, and I couldn't reach the bulb without possibly removing a panel under the hood, so I had to take it to the shop. Also, the 'hood open' warning light lit up even though the hood was closed. The mechanic said the switch was 'stuck'. In my 55 years of driving, I never needed a light to tell me when the hood was open. That's two worthless things on the car: this light and the RAD sensor, which only serves to break and cost money to fix. I can't wait for the rest of the stupid stuff on it to do the same. Note: daytime lamps are not required by law, but Volvo put them on, and you can't turn them off. So, you'll have to replace them when they burn out and run the alternator to replace that electricity, costing you fuel while you're driving with them on. It's frustrating. Edit: major disassembly is not required to change daytime running lights. For the second light, the mechanic showed me that the unit is removable, and you can change the bulb on the bench. Still, there should be a way to turn off the DRLs. At 70K miles now, the parking sensors are acting up, giving false signals, which is disturbing when driving. I can't imagine how much this fix will cost.

Positive 2012 Volvo Xc70 car reviews

  1. Rick Wiza 2024-09-29

The XC70 t6 is a fantastic looking and solid vehicle. During my 40-minute test drive of a 2012 t6 with 70K miles, I found the power to be smooth and the 4100 pound vehicle to be very safe. Although the MPG is not great, the seats, interior, and features are fantastic and even better than those of a BMW, Audi, or MB. When choosing between a MB wagon, XC70 t6, or Subaru Out Back, I would not go for a BMW wagon due to the RFT. I believe that a utility vehicle or people mover should have a spare tire, which the XC70 t6 has. The MB is not suitable for off-road driving, so I would recommend the XC70 t6 or the Out Back. Overall, I highly recommend the XC70 t6 as it is a very solid machine.

  2. Barney Harvey 2024-09-16

I come from a long line of Toyota 4-Runners, so switching to a Volvo was a big change for me. However, I have been pleasantly surprised by how comfortable this car is, with plenty of adjustment options. The front cabin is roomy, and I love the red exterior with ivory interior. The paint still looks brand new after washing. While some have mentioned that acceleration can be sluggish, I have found that when I need to pass, I am able to do so with ease. In the 11 years that I have owned this car, I have only had one problem with the battery going dead due to a defect in the computer. Although I had to pay $400 for a software update to fix the issue, I believe that the dealership should have taken care of this at no cost to me. Despite this, there are many things that I love about this car, including the big moonroof that never leaks, the auto seats on both sides, the auto trunk release, and the loads of airbags that have never had to deploy thanks to the great ABS system. The keyless start and great error info are also fantastic features. I still get 24 MPG, and the side mirrors fold in when the ignition is turned off. The heated seats warm up quickly, and the body style is timeless. The cargo space is also excellent. While the HVAC system takes a little longer to get cool or warm, and the system menus are not straightforward, I have them all memorized after owning this car for so long. Overall, I would definitely buy this car again and recommend this year and model to anyone who wants a reliable vehicle.

Hey there! Just wanted to give you a heads up that some vehicles might not come with certain options automatically. So, it's always a good idea to know what options you're looking for ahead of time. Hope this helps!
