- Rear Seatbacks: The rear seatbacks in some 2019 Volvo XC40s might not remain in the upright position, which can be attributed to missing lock strikers on both sides of the bench. This issue affects a small number of examples built between 20-21 June 2018 and can be resolved by having the strikers fitted by any Volvo dealer free of charge.
- Brake Booster: A small number of 2019 Volvo XC40s built between 29 November 2019 and 21 February 2020 may have a missing nut securing the brake booster, which is part of the vehicle's braking system. It is recommended to speak with a Volvo dealer to find out if your XC40 is affected by this issue.
- Reliability: The 2019 Volvo XC40 has received mixed feedback from owners regarding its reliability. While some have reported a satisfactory level of reliability, others have experienced minor electronic glitches, particularly with the infotainment system and electronic driver aids. These faults, while not affecting the vehicle's drivability, can cause inconvenience.
- Brake and Electronics Issues: The Volvo XC40 has been known to have issues with its brakes and electronics, which can be a concern for potential buyers. These problems are more prevalent in used XC40s, and it is recommended to consider an extended warranty or look for a certified example with inspection and history reports.
- Tailgate Release and Rear Camera: The tailgate release button and rear view camera module can come loose in some 2019 Volvo XC40s, with the screws that hold it in place breaking through the plastic cover . This issue is particularly common in 2019 models and can be fixed by the dealer if it is still under warranty.
- Tailgate Drain Hole Rusting: The drain holes at the bottom of the tailgate can start rusting out, especially in climates where a lot of salt is used on the roads in the winter . This area isn't sealed, making it susceptible to getting wet and rusting.
In summary, while the 2019 Volvo XC40 has many positive attributes, potential buyers should be aware of these common problems and issues to ensure they make an informed decision.

I love my new XC40 Rdesign! It's a great looking car with great performance and comfort. Unfortunately, I've had to take it to the shop a few times. Since I picked it up on April 7th, it's been back to the dealer twice and I'm making an appointment for a third visit. The issues are related to software and hardware, specifically with the safety features. My main concern is with the ABS and Electronic Stability Control, which turn on and off every time I drive it. Although the dealership has fixed the problem each time, it reappears after just two weeks. I've purchased eight brand new vehicles in the past, including Infiniti's, Nissan's, and Volkswagon's, and I've never had these issues before. While I really like the car, it's a hassle and a big inconvenience for a $45K vehicle. If this trend continues, it will probably be my last Volvo.

After owning MANY subcompact/compact SUV's, I have to say that the 2019 Volvo XC40 is absolutely the BEST! It's so much fun to drive, and the build quality and materials are excellent. Plus, there are tons of storage spaces, and the tablet-like infotainment center is the coolest. I also love Volvo on Call - it's so good! Seriously, this is the best value for the money among all the premium offerings in the segment. This is my first VOLVO, and I absolutely love it! Thank you, VOLVO! 2019 Volvo XC-40 Inscription in Denim Blue with Amber interior.

There's so much to love about this car, and I'd like to share a few of my favorite features that you might not have noticed. Firstly, the storage options are fantastic - there's even a hidden tray under the driver's seat that locks closed to keep your valuables safe. Plus, the passenger seat has a perfectly sized shelf for the owner's manual, freeing up the glove box for anything you want to keep cool. Secondly, the headlights are a real standout feature, turning with the steering wheel to illuminate curves and with an auto on/off feature for the high beams. Living on rural roads, I find this feature particularly useful. Thirdly, the paddle shifters are a great way to save wear on the brakes, and the car will automatically revert to the correct gear when the RPMs become unstable. Finally, the gas cap is a thing of the past - just open the door, fill up, and close it when you're done. Overall, this car is packed with thoughtful features that make it a joy to drive. No need to fumble with a dirty gas cap. The rearview mirror is often overlooked, but I find the design quite appealing. Can you call a rearview mirror sexy? Well, I just did. The resolution on the cameras, especially on the huge display screen, is crisp and beautiful. The 360-degree camera, which uses four cameras around the car to provide an aerial view of the surroundings, is a really cool feature. There's no excuse for parking badly in this car. I'll stop there, but I could go on.

We are so happy with our purchase! The car has been a solid performer, it's fun to drive, and we feel safe in it. Plus, the fuel economy is fantastic! We've put 20,000 miles on it and it still looks great and runs like a dream. We've only had to take it to the dealer for scheduled service. We couldn't be happier!

My wife traded in her 2015 Porsche Macan S for this 2019 Volvo XC40 and I have to admit, I wasn't thrilled at first. However, after taking it on a road trip from Atlanta to Key West, I was pleasantly surprised. Despite the rain on our first day, the XC40 performed wonderfully and the color combination of Amazon Blue and white top looked even better in the Florida sunshine. The car turned heads everywhere we went and even I couldn't resist calling it my wife's 'Pretty Girl'. What really impressed me was the 'Auto-pilot' feature, which allowed me to drive straight from Naples to Atlanta without feeling fatigued. The XC40's tracking was incredible and it kept me safe on the road. Overall, I highly recommend giving this car a try and experiencing its many features for yourself.

I've been experiencing some issues with the reverse camera on my 2020 XC40, which I've been using for three months now. Sometimes it shows up in black, and other times it doesn't open at all. I tried contacting customer service, but they informed me that the camera is expected to have a delay of 2-3 minutes, which is quite surprising. I have the email support for that statement, which doesn't seem to be in the car's specifications. It's disappointing that the brand doesn't seem to be interested in fixing these defects.

While driving my XC 40, I absolutely love this car! Unfortunately, the entire system shut down on me. I took it in and was told it was a software issue, which was promptly fixed. However, to my surprise, the car shut down again a month later, this time causing the engine to shut down and restart. It's currently at the dealer now for 2 weeks. I'm starting to regret not leasing it.

I recently purchased this car, but unfortunately, I have already experienced some issues. The engine light has come on and the gas mileage indicator fluctuates unexpectedly. Additionally, the engine produces more noise than I expected. I contacted the service department and was informed that the issue may be related to the emissions. As a new car owner, I believe that these issues should not be occurring. I am currently waiting for the problem to be addressed, which will take a week. However, I am confident that the service department will resolve the issue promptly and efficiently.

I am extremely confident in stating that the SRS airbag warning issue in my Volvo is a serious safety concern that needs to be addressed immediately. Despite having taken my car to the dealership three times, the problem still persists and I am about to make my first car payment on a vehicle that I have barely been able to drive. It is unacceptable that Volvo is not taking ownership of this known issue and providing me with proper recourse. As a proud owner of a Volvo, I expect nothing less than a prompt and satisfactory resolution to this matter.

I really enjoy driving this car, but unfortunately, I have experienced a few issues during the first year of ownership. There have been two recalls, one for the brake pads due to corrosion and another for the check engine light related to emissions and the mass air flow. Additionally, the suspension has been causing some trouble, and my car will be in the shop all weekend while they try to identify the issue. I am a bit concerned about what might happen after the warranty expires, given the problems I've had with less than 25k miles. Despite these issues, I appreciate the car's nimble handling and unique appearance. I have noticed that the radio and phone system can be slow to respond when I first start the car, taking about 30 seconds to warm up before I can make any changes.
