- Summary: On February 2, 2017, My car was stop in an intersection. A car coming in my direction swerved into my lane and hit me head on. The air bag was deployed, it exploded so violently that both of my hands were severly injured. There was a fracture in my right wrist. There was a laceration to the base of the thumb and my thumb finger almost fell off and required several stiches for my forefinger to be attached. The bones in my right arm was shattered into pieces and it required major surgery. My left arm requires a total of 4 surgeries. I have to undergo an eighteen (18) months of Physical Therapy for both my left and right hand. There was so much pain in my left arm and the doctor had to perfom an operation called "Proximal row carpectomy (PRC)". Proximal row carpectomy (PRC) is a motion-preserving treatment for the degenerated wrist. Three (3) very important bones in Proximal row carpectomy (PRC)surgery was removed. This surgery is done to alleviate (reduced) the pain in my arm. I was still lucky, fortunate that the car hit me in front. If my car was hit from behind, my upper body especially my head will be thrown forward and the explosion of the air bag would explode in my face and the xplosion could have killed me or break my neck. The exlposion of the air bag was very similar to the beirut explosion that was caused by ammonium nitrate which was sometimes used in the defected airbag. Very explosive. The air bag was supposed to protect me but in this case it caused tremedous damage to my both my left and right arm. After more than 5 years both of my hands have not fully recovered. It still hurts lifting some heavy object which I could easily lifted before the accident. I trully believe that the airbag is my car has a problem and it could be a Takata air bag that also need to be recalled. My neighbor’s teenage daughter is also driving the same year and model of my car and it always worry me to think what if the air bag is defected.

- Summary: Tenneco Automotive (Tenneco) is recalling certain Beck/Arnley Master Cylinders, part number 072-9831, sold as aftermarket or replacement parts for 2004-2018 Volkswagen Jetta, and 2012-2019 Volkswagen Beetle vehicles. The fluid seal crimp on the master cylinder may be insufficient, causing brake fluid to leak or the cylinder to come apart.
- Consequence: If there is a brake fluid leak, it can reduce braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Beck/Arnley will notify the distributors that sold the master cylinders and will work with the distributors to notify the end users. Affected master cylinders will be exchanged for a new master cylinder (part number 072-9990), free of charge. The recall began October 30, 2020. - Consequence: A loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag will prevent the air bag from deploying in the event of a vehicle crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover over the steering wheel clock spring if the air bag light is off. If the airbag light is on and the steering wheel clock spring requires replacement, dealers will install a new steering wheel clock spring. These repairs will be performed free of charge. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2011-2013 Jetta vehicles manufactured March 1, 2010, to November 30, 2012, and 2012-2013 Beetle vehicles manufactured March 1, 2011, to July 31, 2013. The durability of the rear trailing arms may be reduced in vehicles whose rear trailing arms have been previously deformed, such as a result of a rear or side-rear impact crash.
- Consequence: The reduced durability of the trailing arm may result in its sudden fracture, possibly causing loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will install a sheet metal inlay on the rear axle trailing arms designed to prevent a sudden loss of control in the event of trailing arm sudden fracture, free of charge. The recall began April 7, 2015. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298.

- Summary: The Gates Corporation (Gates) is recalling certain aftermarket Tru-Flow Water Pumps, part number TFW 41127, sold at certain NAPA Auto Parts and/or installed by automotive service technicians after November 1, 2013 (and manufactured August 2013 through October 2013) that have a black-colored pulley/sprocket or do not have 'US9377' stamped on the water pump housing. These service replacement parts were sold for use in model year 1999-2005 Audi A4, 2000-2006 Audi TT, 1998-2005 Volkswagen Beetle, 1999-2006 Golf, 1999-2008 and 2011-2013 Volkswagen Jetta, and 2000-2005 Volkswagen Passat. In the affected water pumps, the pulley or sprocket that turns the timing belt may develop microfractures causing the timing belt to fail.
- Consequence: A failure of the timing belt may cause the engine to shut down, potentially increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
- Remedy: Gates will notify owners, and dealers will replace the water pump, free of charge. The recall began during May 2014. Owners may contact The Gates Corporation at 1-303-744-1911.

- Consequence: DUE TO THE RESONANCE CONDITION, INJECTOR LINE NUMBER 2 COULD DEVELOP SMALL CRACKS WHICH COULD LEAD TO FUEL LEAKAGE. LEAKING FUEL IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, MAY LEAD TO A FIRE.

We only drove the car once since we picked it up last night, but we test drove both the 2010 and 2011 6m and DSG models. Ultimately, we settled on the 2011 6m with nav, panoramic sunroof, and protection packages. This car is perfect for my wife and our family. In fact, my wife is even reading the owner's manual like her Kindle - a first! During the test drive, we really put the cars through their paces, which startled the salesman. While the DSG felt like it was driving me, it was still a vast improvement over past autos in the TDIs I've owned. However, the manual is still the way to go. The leatherette seats are better than leather for maintenance, and the accoutrements are almost overwhelming. Overall, it's an amazing ride and an excellent value.

I bought my TDI three months ago and I'm really happy with it overall, especially with the Clean Diesel's economy and performance. However, there are a few minor issues that I've noticed: 1. The overhead storage compartment doesn't have any padding, so my glasses tend to rattle around in there. 2. I'm still getting used to the digital fuel gauge and I wish there was an engine temp gauge instead of just warning lights. 3. I'm also having trouble finding the ACC setting on the ignition switch. 4. It would be great if the front seats had adjustable lumbar support. 5. I don't understand why I have to order a nav system just to get optional fog lights. 6. There's a pretty big blind spot in the left rear. Despite these minor issues, I'm still really happy with my purchase!

This car is a great value for the money. The only issue I had was with the horn, which cost me $30.00 to fix myself. Other than that, I've only needed to do regular oil changes and replace the filters. I highly recommend changing the original Hankook tires at 50,000 miles, as they were terrible. I replaced them with a set of Michelin Defenders, which handle much better. If you're looking for a midsize car under 20k, you can't expect the same level of materials as a BMW or Lexus. However, it's a sharp-looking car that offers great value for the price.

It sounds like you've got a great car! It has all the upgrades, including a rear view camera and anti-stain treated interior. I'm always surprised by how roomy it is, both in the front and back. I am the proud owner of a 2009 TDI sedan and I still love it after 3 years. It is a great car in every respect - refined, luxurious, fast, stable, and a gas miser. Recently, I went to test drive the 2011 TDI and I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. The car did not handle as well as my 2009 model. At 50 or 100, my car handles the same, but the 2011 model felt dangerous at 80, like the rear end was going to fly off. However, I still believe that Volkswagen will return to what their loyal customer base expects by the time I am ready for a new TDI. Thank you for listening to my experience!

Although the handling of the new Jetta is superior to the previous sedan, the interior quality is a huge step back from the older models. The interior feels cheap and everything inside is hard to the touch. This is a disappointment compared to VW's of the past, even my father-in-law's 2004 Golf has a nicer interior feel. However, it is important to note that the exterior styling is still impressive, despite my wife's differing opinion.

Let's start here. From 2010 to 2011, Volkswagen aimed to appeal to a lower price market by making the interior cheaper. However, I have had an ongoing issue with the interior lights turning on and not going off. Once they do finally go off, I can push anywhere on the headliner to turn them on. To rectify this, I had to pull the upper console away from the headliner. I have put no less than 20 headlamps in the car over the duration of owning it. Repair costs have been extensive, including a $1500 fix for an exhaust part and a $1000 intake valve repair just two weeks later. The AC hasn't worked in 3 years and needs a new compressor, which costs $500. The timing belt replacement cost $1500 because VW uses a nylon impellor for the water pump for OE, so while the engine is torn down, you need to replace the water pump. There was a recall for emissions, but Volkswagen dragged their feet for both the fix and the buyback, so owners would add more mileage and then Volkswagen hits them with mileage penalties. My wife got stranded in West Virginia 600 miles away because a sensor went in the motor causing the turbo to shut down. It cost $300 and took 4 hours to repair. This car has been one nightmare after another. My advice is to stay away from Volkswagen!
