The Tesla Model Y is a battery electric mid-size crossover SUV produced by Tesla, Inc. since 2020. The vehicle was presented in March 2019 as the company's fifth production model since its inception after the Roadster, Model S, Model X and Model 3.

I've owned various types of cars over the years - Japanese, German, and American. But owning a Tesla Model Y is like switching from a PC to a Mac - I would never go back. I absolutely love everything about it and can't imagine ever switching to another car.

If you haven't driven one, give it a shot and I think you'll see why this is almost the perfect vehicle. It's fast, has a good range, and is very comfortable. The front seats are especially comfortable compared to those in the Model X. It also has good cargo space and handles really well, feeling planted and controlled. The Supercharger network is fantastic, and charging at home is easy, convenient, and much cheaper than gas. In my opinion, it checks all the right boxes for most people's needs. These price cuts make it an even better deal.

The Y is an impressive vehicle with great handling, acceleration, charging network, and towing capabilities. While the EPA's combined city/highway method of calculating range may overestimate the range of most EVs at highway speeds, it is the most practical way of determining true range, especially for highway driving. Unfortunately, Tesla does not do a good job of representing this in their advertising. Living in hilly WV affects the range, and on a road trip to New England, the maximum range before needing to charge (less than 10% battery) is less than 210 miles, driven at the speed limit. This is more than 36% less than advertised, and falls well short of expected performance. The Y is not an SUV, with only 6.6” of ground clearance, making it unsuitable for off-road activities like kayaking. The roof rack options are also very limiting. However, it is a great passenger vehicle meant for roads. Tesla's customer service needs improvement, as scheduling a delivery appointment was a hassle, and the location was four hours away instead of one. A limited window for the appointment made it difficult to reschedule. Overall, the Y is an impressive vehicle with some limitations that should be considered before purchase.The vehicle was not available and its location was unknown, resulting in another rescheduling. There were additional complications with insurance cards and paperwork that had been in their possession for weeks. Despite multiple assurances that the vehicle would be registered in my state, it was not, and I did not receive the necessary documents until I contacted them just days before the temporary registration expired. While there were other issues, I will end here.

Hey there! Let me start by saying that I absolutely love my car for all the reasons that everyone else has mentioned. However, I have noticed that the radar sensors for parking assistance, blind-side warning, and cross traffic alerts have been removed, which is a real shame. Unfortunately, none of these features work as well as they should, which can be frustrating. It feels like I'm driving in the 1970s! I have to look over my shoulder before changing lanes, and I'm always worried about hitting the curb or something in my garage. It's not ideal. My previous car, which was $20,000 less than my current one, had a top-down 360 view and all of the features that my current car is missing. I've heard that Tesla will be bringing back the front bumper camera and radar soon, but unfortunately, there's no option to retrofit my 2023 $60,000 MYLR AWD. I'm really disappointed about this. I bought this car as my forever car, and now I feel like I have to spend another $15,000 to sell it and buy the next version just to get these features back. It's frustrating that these critical driving and parking features were removed, and there's no way to add them back in. I hope that Tesla will find a way to fix this issue soon. I've had my Model Y for six months now and it's been a great investment. I got it as a hedge against not being able to get petrol, given government policies. The pros are numerous: it's fast, the seat comfort is the best, handling is good (though not quite BMW-like), home charging is a big plus, the tech is superb, and the build quality has been good except for one annoying rattle. I haven't had to charge on the road yet, but knowing Tesla has the best network allays my range anxiety. One pedal driving is also great. When I had to use the Tesla Service Center, they were very good, but unfortunately there was no provision to ask questions. Taking delivery was shorter in time than gassing up my ICE vehicle. The only cons I've found are the lack of Apple CarPlay and S-XM, an annoying rattle, no ventilated seats, and poor rear visibility. While the minimalist design is nice, there's too much reliance on the center touchscreen with too much buried in the menus. Having to go into the touch screen to open the glove box is too much, and the same goes for the wipers, etc. There's too much reliance on the Tesla app and no provision for asking questions in advance. I do worry that once Tesla opens up the Supercharger network, we'll have waits for all the other models that will crowd in. However, overall, if you're going electric, Tesla is definitely the way to go... now!

I recently purchased three Tesla's - two Model Y's and one Model 3. The buying experience was excellent, with no need to haggle over prices and delivery being exceptionally easy. While the cars ride very nicely and are comfortable inside, there are some drawbacks to consider. The claim that you will get nearly 300 miles per charge is completely erroneous, as you may extend your range if you are constantly on the highway but you are actually getting about 100-150 miles per charge in your normal day to day driving. It's important to use those as your true calculations as you figure whether it's better to go electric or gas. Additionally, we have significant negative equity in each of our three cars due to the continuous price drops after purchasing them. In one case, I took delivery days after a reduction and attempted to reason with Tesla but they would not provide any kind of consideration. Lastly, we had a frustrating experience with their repair shop when I had to take my Model Y to Tesla because the undercarriage piece broke off for going through a puddle! Yes, a puddle on the street made the undercarriage break off. The repair manager refused to cover it under warranty, citing it as an 'atmospheric event.' It's important to do your own research on all of these issues and draw your own conclusions before making a decision. Despite these issues, the Tesla is an excellent driving vehicle.

"Worst in Class" customer service. Tesla buyers, beware...try calling Tesla and asking a question. The hold time is infinity+4 hours. Also, I paid cash for my Model Y and Tesla received the title from NJ DMV more than a month ago, and they will not send it to me (they said they are too busy and told me to wait another 3 months then follow-up...this is MY CAR not theirs)! I want to get rid of it but I can't since they have not mailed me the title yet. Absolutely uncaring and unprofessional. I wish I had made another choice. I've been the proud owner of the 2023 Model Y since March 2023 and overall, I really like the car. However, I have a few safety concerns that are major for me. Firstly, there are no aural or visual warnings for perpendicular crossing traffic while in reverse, which can be dangerous. Secondly, the cameras don't provide a wide enough view to see past the width of the driveway by more than a few feet, nor are they clear enough to spot pedestrians walking behind the car while backing out of a parking space. Although there is a warning on the screen for traffic in lanes on either side of the car, it can be difficult to see if the car is in a blind spot. I was surprised to find that Tesla does not have a yellow warning light in each side view mirror, as my 2014 Camry did. Lastly, while on cruise control, the car goes into an abrupt braking for no reason if there is a vehicle crossing perpendicular to the road I am on. If given a choice, I would much prefer an aural warning first, and then automatic braking if needed. I hope that the 2024 models will address these issues, and new buyers will appreciate the improvements.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I recently picked up my third and final Tesla, and while I was trying to park it in my garage, I noticed that there were no parking aids. At first, I thought they were turned off, but then I realized that the car doesn't have parking sensors anymore. It's a bit disappointing to think that they were left out to save $150 on a car that's worth more than 60K. I highly recommend reading reviews before purchasing a Tesla. In my case, I waited years to buy the Tesla Y, thinking that most, if not all, of the new-model kinks would be worked out.
