2015 Hyundai Genesis problems

The Hyundai Genesis (Korean: 현대 제네시스) is an executive car manufactured and marketed by Hyundai Motor Company over two generations from 2008 until 2016, before it was renamed the Genesis G80. It is a five-passenger, four-door, rear- or all-wheel-drive sedan.

Introduced in concept form at the 2007 New York International Auto Show, and internally designated as the BH model, the Genesis was expected to cost $533 million to develop. Hyundai began marketing the first generation Genesis worldwide (except in Europe) in 2008 as a "premium sports sedan". The second generation Genesis (model DH) debuted in Seoul, Korea in November 2013 followed by the 2014 North American International Auto Show and Toronto Auto Show.

On 4 November 2015, Hyundai announced that the name Genesis and Hyundai's second generation luxury model would move to a new and separate luxury division, Genesis Motor. The Genesis — as a Hyundai model — was replaced in actuality in 2017 when the second generation Hyundai Genesis was renamed the G80. The move followed the model's success in the luxury market, paired with consumer acceptance of the Genesis nameplate.

Common 2015 Hyundai Genesis problems

The Hyundai Genesis 2015 has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. These issues can be categorized into electrical, powertrain, engine, and interior defects.

Electrical defects are one of the most prevalent issues with the Hyundai Genesis 2015. The majority of the complaints under the electrical category are regarding dead batteries and electrical failure.

Powertrain defects include problems with the automatic transmission gear position indication. Water may leak into the rear combination lamp assemblies and cause an incorrect gear display on the instrument panel or a warning light to illuminate. If the incorrect gear is being displayed, the vehicle may move in an unintended direction, increasing the risk of a crash.

Engine defects are amongst the most prevalent and hazardous issues reported for the Hyundai Genesis 2015. The most common and recurrent issue is sudden engine shutoffs and stalls. A stall can be extremely dangerous in some situations, as it increases the risk of fatal accidents and injuries. One owner stated that their 2015 Hyundai Genesis stalled twice while stopped for a traffic light, with no advance warning, which could have led to a serious accident.

Interior defects include problems with the starter assembly solenoid, which may cause an electrical short, resulting in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving. This can increase the risk of injury for the vehicle occupants.

In conclusion, the Hyundai Genesis 2015 has been reported to have several common problems, including electrical, powertrain, engine, and interior defects. These issues can pose significant safety risks and may require costly repairs. If you own a Hyundai Genesis 2015 and have experienced any of these problems, it is recommended that you contact a Hyundai dealership for further assistance.

Applied for AAA membership and was approved. Car was towed back to dealership on August 28th with approx. 100 miles driven since Aug 9th. Negative 2015 Hyundai Genesis car reviews

  1. Abraham Fadel 2024-11-19

If you're looking for a decent car with advanced features at a reasonable price, this car might be a good fit for you. However, it's important to note that the dealership may not provide the same level of service as a luxury dealership. The service experience may not be up to par and it's possible that some features may not work as well as expected. It's important to keep in mind that this is not a Lexus or Mercedes, but rather a Hyundai. Despite some shortcomings, the car has many advanced features. The automatic windshield wipers and lane keeping system may not work as well as those on older Mazdas and BMWs, and the automatic emergency braking system may not work in heavy rain. Additionally, the dealership may not offer software updates or loaner cars. However, if you're willing to overlook these issues, this car could be a good option for you. Overall, it's important to manage your expectations and keep in mind that this is not a luxury car experience.Until Hyundai separates the brands with separate dealers, the experience will always feel like a Hyundai.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with the 2015 AWD Genesis that I bought on Memorial Day in 2014. I absolutely love this car! It's so beautiful and stylish. I was originally considering the 5 series, but I ultimately chose the Genesis because of its great value for money and Hyundai's amazing warranty program. However, after 8 months of ownership and only 2k miles driven, I've noticed some issues with the car. The leather has been deteriorating more quickly than I expected, which is a bit disappointing. Additionally, the reading light LED inside the car failed within the first week of owning it. While Hyundai was helpful in resolving these issues, it's still frustrating to have experienced them. Overall, I still really enjoy my Genesis and would recommend it to others.

  3. Bennie Dach 2024-03-06

This car was designed to be a Sports Sedan, dressed up as a luxury auto, and it does its job well. However, there are some drawbacks. The front and rear tires are not the same size, which means they can only be rotated side to side. The auto factory tires are Continentals with a 50K warranty, but because the tires cannot be X rotated, Continental would only warranty them for 25K. This information was not disclosed anywhere in the information on this auto. I had to buy two rear tires at 20500 miles because the rear tires were down to 4/32nd. The dealer wanted $735 out of the door for two tires, but I used my Tire Dealer and paid $535, including replacement certificates and $25 per tire proration. I live in Michigan, which means a lot of snow, ice, and very cold weather. With all of the electronic safety features engaged, there was minimal sliding or tire spin in the snow. However, the low clearance in the front is a challenge when the snow is over 5 inches. The real issue with the snow, ice, and very cold temperatures is the location of the Electronic Steering module and the Electronic control for the brakes. On a -10 degrees day in January, I came out of a store, started my car, only to see two warning lights, Electronic Steering, and Brakes. I had no steering control at all. I had to have it towed to the dealer. It turns out that ice and snow had gathered in the pocket formed by the power steering and the oil pan, freezing the two control modules. They removed the ice ball and disassembled both to make sure they were in working order. I was supplied with G80 as a loaner. When I picked up my car, another one was on a tow truck with the same issue. By the way, I have pictures to go along with this.I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my 2015 car. I have to say, I have the BEST dealership relationship that I have had in a very long time. Although the driver's seat cushion is off-center just a little bit, the extended thigh support makes it okay. Plus, it has all of the safety features that are advertised on the rest of the 2019 autos, including the Smart Cruise which works flawlessly! It's amazing how it follows the car in front of you at the distance that you set, including up to and stopping, with the resume when the traffic moves. The selectable engine management of Normal, Sport, or Economy changed the shift points on the 8-speed transmission, but not enough to have an impact on MPG. I just wanted to give you a heads up about the small trunk, but Apple Play and Android Auto are standard and work just like you want them to. The Navigation system is also very good, with voice controls for the Nav. I am 6 ft, 250lbs, so the auto is not a good fit for large people, but for a smaller person, it would be a great fit. I have driven it on trips of 500 miles, 300 miles, and 1400 miles in the two years that I have owned it. This was a Loaner car for service, so it had 6000K miles on it when I purchased it. But it had never been titled, so I received the full new car warranty. I am looking for a G90 that I can afford as I write this. I just wanted to give you an update on my car. The rotors rusted beyond repair at 25K miles, but everything on the auto is still in great working order. The current mileage is 29550, which is below standard. However, this brand does not hold value well so I have negative equity on my loan, which is a big hurdle to overcome in attempting to buy another auto. I hope this helps!undefined

Positive 2015 Hyundai Genesis car reviews

I recently drove a 2014 Genesis base model and was impressed enough to check out the restyled 2015 model. I'm so glad I did! The improvements are major and it looks like it will remain stylish for years to come. I ended up purchasing one just 4 weeks ago and have already put 3000 miles on it in the first month alone. This past weekend, my partner and I took a 750 mile round trip with another couple and I have to say, even after driving non-stop for 300 miles, I felt great getting out of the driver's seat. The combination of highway and secondary roads was a breeze thanks to the comfortable seating and smooth ride. The car is also incredibly quiet, making it less tiring to drive. The technology is fantastic, especially the adaptive cruise control. If you're buying a premium car, you should definitely have all the options. The only nitpicks I have are that I wish the headlights turned on when the wipers are on - it's a simple safety feature that should be standard. I'd also like to have remote start on the fob, as using the phone can be a bit cumbersome. The auto high beam is great on the highway, but on secondary roads, there were a few times where it would dim the lights as it should, but the reaction time to go back to brights was a bit slow as I approached a curve. It's been 7 months and 12,500 miles since I purchased the car and I'm still very happy with its performance. Over the winter, I discovered that the heated seats are better than any of the ones in my last four cars. Finally, I had a couple of warm and sunny days to try out the cooling for the seats and it's going to be a lifesaver this summer. I won't buy another car unless it has a heated steering wheel too - that touch of luxury is really great on a cold morning. One morning, I was driving to work on a snow-covered road that is fairly steep. Two cars on the hill were struggling and sliding, but with the H-Track AWD, I just kept chugging along and passed them with no slippage of the wheels at all. I really felt secure going up that hill.I'm so glad to hear that you're still enjoying your Genesis months later! It sounds like you've been having a lot of fun driving it, especially with all the great features like the comfortable seats, good sound system, and gadgets. Your upcoming trip sounds like it will be a blast! If anyone is considering buying a Genesis, I highly recommend getting all the options for the best experience. After 13 months and 22,500 miles, it's great to hear that you're still happy with your purchase. The heated steering wheel and BlueLink remote sound like they've been really helpful during the colder mornings. It's always nice to have a warm and cozy car to start your day. I'm glad to hear that you haven't had any problems or repairs with your Genesis. Edmunds was right to ask for an update on your review, and it's great to hear that you've been able to take your car on some long trips. I hope you have an amazing time on your next adventure in your trusty Genesis!

The Hyundai Genesis is an exceptional car that offers a quiet, comfortable, and fun driving experience. The heads-up display is a standout feature that enhances safety by providing more than just speed information. While there have been some challenges with loaner cars during service appointments, this is to be expected for a car of this caliber. As the new Genesis car company begins selling its cars, it will be interesting to see how this issue is addressed. Although the front seats could be more comfortable and the car's performance in snow could be improved, the overall experience has been nothing short of spectacular. It's clear that the Genesis is a top-performing car that is worth the investment.

I recently read a review posted by a professional critic and while I respect their opinion, I have to disagree with their assessment of the back seat leg room in the new 2015 Genesis. In my personal experience, I have compared the 2015 Genesis to other luxury cars such as the Audi A6, Mercedes E350, BMW 535i, and Lexus, and I found that the 2015 Genesis AWD 3.8 fully loaded outperforms and outclasses all of them in every aspect. As someone who has been driving luxury cars for the past 40 years, including Mercedes, BMW, Range Rover, and Lexus, I can confidently say that this new 2015 model is a game changer. Period!

This is an excellent cruiser. The adaptive cruise control makes my long commute a breeze and the ride is supremely comfortable. Although it may not be the most 'fun to drive' car due to its size and weight, it is still a great option. The grill is also a standout feature, with a sleek design that reminds me of both Audi and Aston Martin. Additionally, this car is very well equipped and comes at a much more affordable price point compared to its German counterparts. In fact, the C class, which is an inferior car compared to this Genesis, cannot even be equipped similarly for a price anywhere near this car.

Just got it. You have a very nice car! I'm glad to hear that you like it very much. While the noise level is low, it's not as low as you were accustomed to. However, it's great to hear that the lane-keeping-assist feature works well. You have some suggestions for Hyundai for improvement: (1) further reducing interior noise, and (2) raising the low-beam headlight to cover 30-ft further in front of the car. After one year, it's wonderful to hear that you still like it a lot!
