2007 Pontiac Grand prix problems
The Grand Prix is a line of automobiles produced by the Pontiac Division of General Motors from 1962 until 2002 as coupes and from 1989 through 2008 model years as four-door sedans.
First introduced as a full-size performance coupe for the 1962 model year, the model varied repeatedly in size, luxury, and performance during its production. The Grand Prix was the most expensive coupe Pontiac offered until the 1970s, when the Bonneville Brougham and the Firebird Trans Am became more exclusive. Among the changes were positioning in the personal luxury car market segment and mid-size car offering from the second generation to the fifth generation for the sedan and from the second generation to the sixth generation from the coupe.
All Grand Prixs from 1962 through 1972 were pillarless hardtops (except for the 1967 convertible),

EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-07-15
- VIN: 2G2WP552671
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Summary: The multifunction/turning signal switch is malfunctioning. It started in 2012 about a year after I purchased the car. The brights would randomly turn on without me touching the switch and then the brights would turn on when I'd use my turning signal. I delt with it for several years, but eventually it got so bad that the brights wouldn't even turn off at all. I would have to drive with my finger holding the switch to keep the brights off. It made it extremely difficult to drive the car, especially when I had to turn. It was very unsafe not having full control of the steering wheel just to keep the brights off. I finally decided to have the switch replaced in 2019 and it seemed to solve the issue until about 6 months ago. The brights started randomly coming on and now they are on all the time and won't shut off. I feel incredibly unsafe driving because of having to hold the switch so it stays off. I'm sure it's a nuisance/unsafe for other drivers to have bright lights in their eyes all the time while driving too. I believe the switch is faulty based on the fact that I've had two and have had the same issue with both of them.

2007 Pontiac Grand prix recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 4 recalls for different components of the 2007 Pontiac Grand prix.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, 2006-2009 Buick LaCrosse, 2006-2007 Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT, GMC Envoy XL, 2006-2008 Isuzu Ascender, and Saab 9-7x vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the headlamp driver module (HDM) may overheat and fail, causing the headlamps and daytime running lights to not illuminate.
- Consequence: Headlamps that do not illuminate reduce the driver's ability to see the roadway and reduce the vehicle's visibility to oncoming vehicles, both of which increase the risk of a vehicle crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the HDM, free of charge. The recall began on May 17, 2016. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 or Pontiac customer service at 1-800-762-2737. GM's number for this recall is 14291.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION
- Summary: This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) notified the agency on July 3, 2014, that they are recalling 5,877,718 model year 2000-2005 Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo, 1997-2003 Chevrolet Malibu, 2004-2005 Malibu Classic, 1999-2004 Oldsmobile Alero, 1998-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue, 1999-2005 Pontiac Grand Am and 2004-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix vehicles. In these models, the weight on the key ring and/or road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.
- Consequence: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. The recall began on September 9, 2014. GM's number for this recall is 14350.

A POTENTIAL MATERIAL OR DESIGN DEFECT COULD RESULT IN THE STEERING KNUCKLE BREAKING IN THE HUB AREA.
- Consequence: A BROKEN STEERING KNUCKLE COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND A POSSIBLE CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.
- Remedy: DORMAN WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE STEERING KNUCKLES FREE OF CHARGE AND REIMBURSE THE REPAIR FACILITY OR OWNER FOR LABOR. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 23, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DORMAN'S TOLL-FREE HOTLINE AT 1-800-523-2492 AND PRESS 5.

- Summary: ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE FUEL TANK IS MISSING THE ADHESIVE LAYER THAT BONDS THE BARRIER LAYER TO THE OUTER SHELL OF THE FUEL TANK.
- Consequence: WITH THIS CONDITION, FUEL AND/OR FUEL VAPORS COULD SEEP OUT BETWEEN THE LAYERS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A FIRE.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE SERIAL NUMBER ON THE FUEL TANK AND REPLACE THE FUEL TANK IF NECESSARY. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 13, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BUICK AT 1-866-608-8080, CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, OR PONTIAC AT 1-800-620-7668.

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your 2007 Pontiac GXP! If you're looking for even more excitement, you might want to consider getting a super chip. While the LS 4 engine in these cars is already powerful, adding a superchip can be a great upgrade. With only 45,000 miles on the clock, your car is a true road warrior. These cars are great for both racing and everyday use, so I'm sure you'll continue to have fun with it!

Hi there! I couldn't help but notice that you have a 2007 GT model Grand Prix with all the options - that's awesome! I'm so glad to hear that you've had a great experience with the Monsoon Stereo and Six CD Player. The Purple Haze Metallic paint with the Sun Roof and Custom Tail pipes sounds like a real head-turner! It's great to hear that the Remote Start, Heated seats and Dual climate control have been so helpful during the Winter Months. The 3800 Series III engine is known for its reliability, and with the Eaton Generation V Supercharger and Electronic throttle control, you always have instant Power when you need it. I completely agree with you about the interior - the stitched leather seats and Real Cockpit feel for the driver are fantastic! Thanks for sharing your experience with me. Have a great day!

I replaced the factory tires this week with Bridgestone Potenza RE960 Pole Positions and guess what... NO TORQUE STEER! This car is now amazingly fun to drive, and with a lot less road noise.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my car. I've put 32,000 miles on it so far, and I have to say, it's been the best car I've ever owned - and I've owned 12! I've had a few minor issues, but the dealer has always been able to help me resolve them. I also tinted the windows, and with the dark grey color, it looks really sharp. Thanks for listening!

As a proud three-time owner of the Pontiac Grand Prix, I must say that I have experienced some issues with the car. Despite taking it to the dealership eight times, the rattling inside, which appears to be coming from the sunroof, has not been resolved. This can be quite unsettling during long road trips or on bumpy roads. Additionally, I have had to replace the rotors twice within a year, indicating a clear issue with them. However, I am confident that these issues can be resolved with the right expertise and attention.

This car has three blind spots that are absolute... Additionally, the rear window is quite wide, which may look good, but without a rear wiper, it's impossible to see out of it when it rains. There is a quirky sound from the exhaust that the dealership insists is by design from GMC. They also say that the RPMs do not go past a certain point because the manufacturer installed a regulator. While the blind spots and rear window issue are concerning and could potentially cause accidents, it's an issue that needs to be addressed. I wish I had taken more time to test the car before paying so much for it. I would not buy this car again.

I bought a sleek and stealthy black 2007 Grand Prix GXP in 2/07, brand new. Unfortunately, I experienced some issues with the transmission early on. Despite the dealer's initial claim that there was no problem, the transmission failed at just 500 miles. The dealer attempted to repair it at 3,000 miles, but ultimately had to replace the entire transmission. However, the car still does not run correctly. Additionally, I have had trouble finding suitable tires for the rear wheels, as only Bridgestone Potenza manufactures the required 225/50/18's. I have had to deal with 3 defective tires, 4 alignments, and 12 force variance balances, but the steering wheel still shudders and there is excessive tramlining. While the car looks great, it has unfortunately been nearly undrivable. I have filed for a Lemon Law repurchase at 3,500 miles.
