2019 Nissan Rogue sport problems
The Nissan Rogue is a compact crossover SUV produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan. It made its debut in October 2007 for the 2008 model year. Beginning in 2013 for the 2014 model year, the model has been merged with the X-Trail sold outside the North American market, making them identical. It is currently Nissan's best-selling vehicle in the United States.
As of 2023, the Rogue was manufactured at the Nissan Smyrna Assembly Plant in Tennessee, United States and at the Nissan Motor Kyushu plant in Kanda, Fukuoka, Japan. Between August 2014 and March 2020, it was also built at the Renault Samsung Motors plant in Busan, South Korea under contract.
First generation (S35; 2007)
The first-generation Rogue made its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on 7 January 2007. It replaces the Nissan X-Trail in Canada as Nissan's entry-level SUV and the body-on-frame Nissan Xterra in Mexico due to the Smyrna plant freeing capacity for the Suzuki Equator, although the Xterra continued on sale in the United States and Canada through 2015 after being withdrawn from the Mexican market after the 2008 model year.
The first-generation Rogue was available in three trim levels in the United States: S, SV and SL, available with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

Common 2019 Nissan Rogue sport problems
The 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport has been reported to have several common problems, primarily centered around its automated brakes, CVT transmission, and electrical system.
- Automated Brakes: The automated braking system, designed to enhance safety, has been a significant concern for 2019 Nissan Rogue owners. This system can be more troublesome and dangerous than beneficial. Unintentional braking increases the risk of rear-end collisions and loss of vehicle control.
- CVT Transmission: Nissan has faced numerous lawsuits over CVT transmission issues, many of which have resulted in settlements and extended warranties. These problems, however, do not seem to cover the 2019 Nissan Rogue at present. The CVT transmission's poor shifting, shuddering, and jerking are believed to be caused by overheating. Nissan has offered cash reimbursements for affected owners to help cover repair costs. However, these issues do not yet cover the 2019 Rogue, with a new class-action lawsuit still ongoing.
- Electrical System: The 2019 Nissan Rogue's electrical system has been reported to have various issues, including keyless entry malfunctions, infotainment system failures, and navigation system problems. Owners have reported that the keyless entry system has failed to work, leaving them locked out of the vehicle. The infotainment system has also experienced software issues, causing the navigation and sound system to stop working during trips. Additionally, the navigation system has been reported to take drivers to incorrect locations despite correct address entries.
These common problems with the 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport highlight the need for potential owners to be aware of these issues and exercise caution when purchasing or driving this vehicle. Regular maintenance and gentle driving can help mitigate some of these problems, but it is essential to be informed about the potential risks associated with this vehicle.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-18
- VIN: JN1BJ1CR2KW
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: Hi. I was driving my Nissan car at around 45 to 50 miles per hour and the car abruptly/suddenly stopped in the middle of the road without any warning. I was about to be hit by other cars behind me but Thank God that didn’t happen. I am very scared of driving this car now. My kids also drive this car and I am extremely worried about their safety. I am hoping Nissan will do something. Extremely worried and scared.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-02
- VIN: JN1BJ1CR8KW
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
- Summary: The part that failed was the cooling fan. According to a litany of Google searches, and from a few dealerships, Nissan has known for years about faulty cooling fans and has done nothing about it. My cooling fan went out last night and sprayed coolant everywhere. Not only did the coolant become gaseous as it burned against the hot engine, this poses a huge safety issue as it can cause a vehicle to stall on the highway and become a safety hazard in the event that other vehicles ram into the stalled vehicle, and vice versa. This problem has been confirmed as an issue by the dealership that I go to and yet Nissan has refused to do anything about it. Prior to the failure, there were no warning lamps or signs, until it actually happened and then the check engine light came on. By then it was too late. This issue can cause problems if someone is driving on the highway and are none the wiser. After doing some research, there were class action lawsuits against a few 2013-2017 models of Nissan vehicles, but not for anything beyond that. Confirmed by the dealer, these issues are well known and could be fixed with a recall. Thankfully, my car was parked at the time of the incident, right before I started on a 45 minute drive back home from where I was at. I live in the Chicagoland area, where traffic tends to be high and had it happened on the highway, it could’ve caused an even bigger issue to those around me.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-15
- VIN: JN1BJ1CR1KW
- Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: Twice, while I was driving with no cars in front of me, the emergency brake was released. The first time, cars were behind me abs the second time they were not. I was driving at normal speed down a street both times. This could cause an accident or hurt someone. Approximate date is the second incident. The first incident was a couple of months before.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-29
- VIN: JN1BJ1CR7KW
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
- Summary: The radiator cooling fan and cooling fan assembly failed. I do not have the failed fan available any longer. The cooling fan failed during a heat wave, thankfully I was at a gas station when it failed. Had I not been at a gas station, I would have been stranded in Northern Maine with my [XXX] infant, my elderly mother, and my service dog in excessive heat for hours while waiting for a tow truck. My infant could easily overheat and die in such temperatures. This is a frequent recurring issue in all Nissan Rogue Sports from years 2017 through at least 2022. Forums for Nissan Rogues are filled with complaints of the radiator cooling fan failing (some at 27k miles and often around 67k miles), many complaints occuring in the laat month. Nissan is aware of these issues, many people having the dealership repair the vehicle and others (myself included) complaining to Nissan Corporate itself. The problem has been confirmed by both dealerships and independent service centers. My component was inspected by the service center. I am unsure who else may have inspected others failed fans. There were no warning lights or messages prior to failure. Two days prior to the failure (roughly 48hrs), I had an issue were my AC suddenly stopped working unless the vehicle was in motion, thinking I needed the AC recharged, I made plans to have that done at the next oil change. I now know that this was likely my radiator fan starting to fail. I had no other symptoms of the problem prior to the fan failing completely and nearly overheating my engine. You can see video of a fan starting to fail here: [XXX] Further complaints: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-21
- VIN: JN1BJ1CP2KW
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: I purchased a 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport a year ago from Carmax. It is just barely out of the powertrain warranty. The engine failed. I have taken great care of this car and gotten it oil changes, new brakes, rotated the tires. I am absolutely incensed that I need a new engine. This is unacceptable . 7/19/24 -Nissan Rogue started experiencing issue with the Air conditioner. I would drive it and it would work while driving but would stop cooling when parked at a stop light. It was experiencing these AC issues for a few days. Temperatures in Sacramento were over 100 degrees this week. 7/21/24 -I called my mechanic 9:00 am and asked if I could come in the next day for an A/C service. My assumption was that it would need to have the AC recharged. 7/21/24 approx 6:00 pm. I was driving with my two nephews [XXX] and [XXX] old). The car started to decelerate. However, after I took my foot off of the gas it would speed back up. It was very scary. I was trying to navigate my way out of traffic as I was in the middle lane and cars were on the right side of me. The eractic way that it accelerated/decelerated was dangerous and could have resulted in an accident. I was very scared and didn’t know what to do. I was able to get safely off the street and parked the car. The next morning I had the car towed to my mechanic. There were no warning lights to indicate that the car was over heating. My mechanic said that the engine had gotten very hot. There was absolutely no temperature gauges to indicate that it had experienced any issues with temperature. I assume that this may have been happening when the AC was having issues. I think my mechanic said something about a fan not working, this caused the engine to overheat which has caused a new engine to need to be replaced which is over $7000. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-06-06
- VIN: JN1BJ1CP6KW
- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
- Summary: The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 MPH a vibration and clanking noise was present coming from the engine compartment and the engine temperature gauge suddenly increased. After stopping the vehicle and examining underneath the hood, the contact discovered steam coming from the radiator and the cooling fan had malfunctioned. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the cooling fan assembly was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-04-26
- VIN: JN1BJ1CRXKW
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: I have reported to my dealer (the Marlboro Nissan/MA on [XXX] 2024 XXXPM) the dangerous situation that keeps my Rogue (vin: XXX) at a lower gear (the car cannot go more than 20 MPH... in the highway this is very slow) after standing still in a traffic jam for a while on a hot day (specially after a traffic jam is cleared). I'm concerned this can cause an accident and Nissan is doing nothing to resolve this risky car issue. There is no indication in the dashboard and even though we have reported this problem to the dealer twice, they have done nothing. Nissan should be held accountable for not resolving this design/manufacturing issue. Additional INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-12-18
- VIN: JN1BJ1CRXKW
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: On December 18, 2023, on the Masspike, inbound, at the morning rush hour, the traffic was in a hard stop for more than 1 hour (moving very slow bumper to bumper), after the Brighton exit, whatever the reason of the traffic jam cleared and all the car speeded up... My Nissan Rogue Sport accelerated a bit but them came to a very low speed (~ 10 mph). I checked whether I was in the right gear (it was: D), checked whether there was any dashboard error sign (there was not!); the car was very slow at a moment when all the cars near me where rushing. I truly though I could get rammed in the rear by cars trying to get to their destination. All cars were honking because I was at a very low speed (and I put on the emergency lights). I took the car for service at the Marlborough Nissan (740 Boston Post Rd E. Marlborough, Massachusetts 01752) today (December 26 2023), but they claimed there was nothing wrong with the car. I can tell you that if Nissan does nothing to solve this problem, other cars of their brand will have a big problem. I don't know what the problem is, but there are several post in Internet claiming this is a big issue: [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] Please address this situation to Nissan, because they are denying any wrongdoing, even though that this is a design issue in their system. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-06-09
- VIN: JN1BJ1CR4KW

- Summary: My car has flashed its automatic brake warning and initialized automatic brakes several times in my 10 months of ownership. This has happened when there has been no obstructions around the car. The car will beep, flash and brake in less than a second and will continue to brake for a second or 2. The car does not completely stop but it is jarring and could be dangerous if there was a car behind me or if there are ice/weather conditions that are on the road. I have not taken the car in for this issue specifically, but I would be open to have it inspected and go from there. I’ve seen that other Rogue Sports have had similar happenings, and I’m worried that mine will completely stall or cause a crash. This incident has happened about 10 times. I’ve listed the latest date below.

My car out of nowhere started to shake as it powered down on me. I saw my little information screen by my pedometer and it was lit up red like if I were to manually apply the emergency brakes. I got it serviced three times since then. Now I see all these recalls with the same exact year, make and model as mine but kbb and nhtsa both say my car isn't recalled.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

- VIN: JN1BJ1CP4KW
- Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: Twice in the last month my car beeped (like a car was in another lane and my signal was on) and the last time the automatic breaking kicked in. It sounded like I drove over rumble strips. In both cases there was nothing in the road and no cars around. It is a 5 lane road with plenty of space around and no traffic. If there were cars around it would have caused an accident because it startled me.
2019 Nissan Rogue sport recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 2 recalls for different components of the 2019 Nissan Rogue sport.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:ANTI-THEFT:IMMOBILIZER/PROXIMITY:KEY/SENDER
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2014-2020 Rogue and 2017-2022 Rogue Sport vehicles equipped with a jackknife style ignition key. The jackknife key may collapse into a folded position while driving.
- Consequence: Driver contact with a key in the collapsed position could inadvertently shut off the vehicle while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, if the vehicle shuts off while driving, the air bags may not deploy in a crash as intended, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Dealers will insert a spacer into the key slot of the jackknife key, free of charge. Interim notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed March 29, 2023. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 30, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R22C5.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Nissan Altima, Armada, Frontier, Kicks, Leaf, Maxima, Murano, NV, NV200, Pathfinder, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Sentra, Titan, Titan Diesel, Versa Note and Versa Sedan vehicles, as well as Infiniti Q50, Q60, QX30 and QX80 vehicles. Additionally included are 2019 Nissan GT-R and Taxi and Infiniti QX50, QX60, Q70, Q70L vehicles. The back-up camera and display settings can be adjusted such that the rear view image is no longer visible and the system will retain that setting the next time the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
- Consequence: The lack of an image in the back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners in phases, having dealers update the back-up camera settings software, free of charge. The recall began November 11, 2019 and all affected VINs should be activated. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 or INFINITI customer service at 1-800-662-6200.

This vehicle is amazing! It comes with a panoramic roof, beautiful leather interior, remote starter, and a full tank of gas!

I'm currently driving a Nissan Rogue Sport rental car while my Ford Escape is being repaired. Although I appreciate having a car to drive, I must admit that I miss my 2017 Escape more than I thought I would. The speakers in the Rogue Sport are not great, the acceleration is subpar, and the technology is minimal. Even the gas refueling process is a bit annoying, as I have to push a button inside the car to open the gas tank and then unscrew the cap. I wanted to share my thoughts on this car because it's really not my favorite, and I'm not enjoying driving it. However, I do recognize that this may be the base model, and my Ford Escape is not, so that could be making a difference. Nonetheless, the features on this car are pretty lackluster, even for a base model.

Despite my car being only 2 and a half years old, I have been unable to find any cooling fan parts to fix it. However, I am confident in my ability to resolve this issue. Although the Extended Warranty Nissan office has not been helpful, I am determined to find a solution. My car has been in the shop since July 12, 2021, and although the extended warranty has expired, I am still committed to getting it fixed. Despite the lack of a loaner car, I am determined to find a way to get to work. I refuse to let this situation keep me from my job, especially since I paid off the car last year.

I recently traded in my Altima for a brand new 2019 Rouge S as I needed more room for my family and dogs. Unfortunately, I experienced several issues with the car, including problems with the air conditioning, steering column, and brakes. Despite being under warranty, I found myself spending a lot of time at the service center and even had to deal with rental cars that didn't allow pets. While the safety features were nice, I ultimately decided to trade in the car after just two years and will not be purchasing a Nissan again. On the positive side, the exterior of the car looked nice, but I would recommend investing in an exterior warranty as the paint chips easily. Overall, I had a frustrating experience with this car and would not recommend it.

My windshield cracked and I'm not sure why. My Nissan Rogue is only two months old. I took the car to the dealership and they said that something might have hit it. I was disappointed because I expected a car that is supposed to be so good to withstand more than just a pebble (the dealership said it could be that) and not have the warranty cover it. However, Lynnes Nissan in Bloomfield New Jersey offered to help with some of the charges, which was a positive experience. I'm considering other options for my next car purchase, maybe even a Toyota. Safety is a top priority for me and I want to make sure I'm driving a reliable car.
