2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor problems
The Mitsubishi Endeavor is a mid-size crossover SUV built by Mitsubishi Motors at their manufacturing facility in Normal, Illinois from 2003 until 2011. Based on the PS platform, it was the first vehicle built under Mitsubishi's "Project America", a program aimed at introducing vehicles for North America without having to compromise for, or accommodate, global markets.
Design
Its design origins can be traced back to the Mitsubishi SSU which debuted at the 1999 North American International Auto Show, although the Endeavor does not share the concept's mechanical underpinnings. The prototype was powered by a 305 hp (227 kW) version of the 6A13TT 2.5-liter twin-turbo V6, which directed the power to a full-time all-wheel drive system through its INVECS-II five-speed automatic transmission and AYC. When the Endeavor debuted in March 2003, it used the 6G75 3.8-liter V6 offering 215 hp (160 kW) and 250 lb⋅ft (339 N⋅m), mated to a four-speed automatic transmission with an optional all-wheel-drive system that splits the torque 50/50 by default.
Despite some reasonably favorable reviews on its release, the Endeavor's performance in the marketplace failed to meet Mitsubishi's expectations. On its release in March 2003 the company aimed for 80,000 annual sales but had achieved only 32,054 by the end of its debut year, and sales fell every year thereafter.

Common 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor problems
The 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor is a midsize crossover SUV that has been known to have several common problems based on complaints from its owners. Here are some of the most frequently reported issues:
- Engine stalling: Some owners of the 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor have reported issues with the engine stalling while driving. This can be a serious safety concern, especially if it occurs while driving at high speeds or in heavy traffic. The cause of this problem is not entirely clear, but it may be related to issues with the engine control module or the fuel system.
- Transmission problems: Another common issue with the 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor is transmission problems. Some owners have reported that the transmission slips, shifts roughly, or has difficulty shifting into certain gears. This can be caused by a variety of issues, including low transmission fluid levels, worn-out gears, or problems with the transmission control module.
- Electrical issues: The 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor has also been known to have electrical issues. Some owners have reported problems with the electrical system, including issues with the power windows, power locks, and the stereo system. These issues can be caused by a variety of factors, including blown fuses, faulty wiring, or issues with the electrical control module.
- Suspension problems: Some owners of the 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor have reported issues with the suspension system. This can include problems with the shocks, struts, or other suspension components. These issues can cause the vehicle to handle poorly, and can also lead to uneven tire wear.
- Brake problems: The 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor has also been known to have brake problems. Some owners have reported issues with the brakes, including brake fade, brake noise, or difficulty stopping the vehicle. These issues can be caused by a variety of factors, including worn-out brake pads, damaged brake rotors, or issues with the brake system hydraulics.
It's important to note that not all 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor vehicles will experience these problems. However, if you are considering purchasing a used 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor, it's a good idea to have the vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic to identify any potential issues. Additionally, it's a good idea to research the vehicle's history to see if it has been involved in any recalls or safety notices.
Is a Mitsubishi Endeavor a good vehicle?
It's quiet, has a fairly comfortable ride and secure handling, but cornering isn't particularly agile. The refined 3.8-liter V6 provides strong acceleration. Like most car-based SUVs, the Endeavor didn't come with low-range gearing, but the AWD is appropriate for snow and sand.
Why is my 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor not starting?
The most common reasons a Mitsubishi Endeavor won't start are a dead battery, an alternator problem, or failed starter.
How long do Mitsubishi Endeavors last?
A used car in 2010, the Endeavor already had 200,000 miles on it – way past the powertrain limited warranty. Still, according to Grubb, she only needed to replace the thermostat, tires, and brakes since then. She's also racked up an additional 100,000 miles driving across Missouri to visit her family.
Why did they stop making Mitsubishi Endeavor?
The Mitsubishi Endeavor was produced in the US between 2003 and 2011 until it was discontinued due to poor sales.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2015-04-15
- VIN: 4A4MN31SX8E
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: WATER FROM A/C DUMPS INTO THE FLOOR BOARDS OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FLOOR BOARDS. THIS CAUSES BOTTOM OF SHOES TO BECOME SLIPPERY ALLOWING THEM TO SLIP FROM BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL. THERE IS SO MUCH WATER IT TAKE NUMEROUS TOWELS TO SOAK UP THE WATER. OVER TIME, THIS MOISTURE IN THE CARPET LEADS TO MOLD AND MILDEW AND AFFECTS THOSE WITH ALLERGIES. I'M SURE THEY MAY BE SOME RUST GOING ON UNDER THE CARPET DUE TO THE ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF WATER THAT IS DUMPED INTO THE FLOOR BOARDS. THIS DUMPING OF WATER HAPPENS ANY TIME THE AIR CONDITIONER IS BEING USED. WHEN THE VEHICLE TURNS, YOU CAN HEAR THE WATER SLOSHING FROM SIDE TO SIDE...IT IS A LOT OF WATER! WE HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS "FIXED"...ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME THING HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN. IT IS WAY TOO COSTLY TO CONTINUE TO TAKE THIS IN TO HAVE "REPAIRED". AFTER READING THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VERY SAME ISSUE, I FEEL IT IS A FACTORY DEFECT AND MITSUBISHI SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THIS PART/ISSUE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FOR MY DAUGHTER IN 2015.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2017-07-11
- VIN: 4A4MM31S68E
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: TWO WEEKS AGO I NOTICED MY DRIVER SIDE FLOOR WAS WET WHICH I ASSUMED WAS FROM THE UMBRELLA WITH ALL THE RAIN. HOWEVER AS OF LAST WEEK IT REMAINED WET TO THE POINT OF SOAKING WHENEVER THE A/C OR DEFROSTER RUNS. IT WAS CHECKED BY CARMAX TECH, WHO ADVISED IT IS DUE TO THE HVAC DRAINAGE DETERIORATING & WATER BUILDING UP IN THE FLOOR BOARD. TO REPAIR THE COST IS OVER $1100.00. THE TECH INFORMED THAT MITSUBISHI IS AWARE OF THE POORLY DESIGN HOWEVER NEVER RECALLED ON ANY OF THE VEHICLES. AFTER INVESTIGATING I FOUND MITSUBISHI TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS INFORMING SERVICE MGRS, WARRANTY PROCESSOR, TECHNICIANS, ETC. OF THE ISSUE & HOW TO REPAIR (BULLETINS DATED SEPTEMBER 2008 & AGAIN AUGUST 2011 EXTENDING THE YEARS OF VEHICLES THAT WOULD EXPERIENCE THE ISSUE). TO DATE I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THIS PROBLEM WHICH THEY ARE WELL AWARE THIS COULD CAUSE ELECTRICAL ISSUES IF NOT REPAIRED INCLUDING A FIRE. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH A TECHNICIAN AT THE MITSUBISHI DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED HE WAS VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEM & QUOTED THE SAME PRICE. HE NEVER MENTIONED A RECALL OR BULLETINS THEY HAD RECEIVED ON THE MATTER. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL/REPAIR AT THEIR EXPENSE NOT THE CONSUMERS.

KEYLESS ENTRY WILL NOT OPEN OR LOCK THE DOORS, WHILE AT LOCAL GAS STATION WENT INSIDE AND CAR WAS NOT THERE WHEN GOT OUTSIDE AS IF IT WAS STOLEN BUT IN FACT HAD ROLLED INTO TRAFFIC AND HIT A CAR AT THE RED LIGHT CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES! THE POLICE ARRIVED TO INVESTIGATE. A ACCIDENT REPORT WAS MADE AND DAMAGE AND WELL BEING ASSESSMENT TAKEN. This is my first Mitsubishi and my wife and I love it. It's fun to drive, VERY comfortable, and has lots of leg room. I am extremely satisfied with the Endeavor. I hope they come out with another model soon. Even though I bought the low end, I feel like I am driving a high end SUV.
-
About 1000 miles now, and I must say, this is a really great overall product! It's so responsive and fun to drive, not to mention peppy. The ergonomics are really nice too, and I've been pleasantly surprised by the fuel efficiency, which has consistently been over 22mpg. I drove everything on the market, from the 4runner to the LR2, and I truly believe that this is the best overall package for the best price.

After owning a Lexus 2002 RX-300, we decided to switch to a 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor. The expensive certified check-up costs with Lexus had become tiresome. The Mitsubishi's test drive was enough to convince us to make the change. The Endeavor offers more room, a quiet car ride, more cargo space, a great sound system, and very low maintenance costs (first oil change requirement 7500 mi!). Additionally, it has heated leather seats and a 5-year, 60,000-mile total warranty. We have had zero problems with this car and are now repeat buyers, having purchased a 2008 Endeavor which we also love. The buyer loyalty deal they gave us on trade-in was superb.
-
We bought our Endeavor after owning a 2004 Lancer Ralliart to have more room and cargo space. We absolutely love it! It's so comfortable, rides great, and has plenty of power. We've only run 87 octane and haven't had any problems or noticeable loss in gas mileage.

I previously owned a Mitsubishi Montero Sport for over 10 years and loved it. When it was time to get a new car, I decided to stick with Mitsubishi. While the gas mileage on my new SUV is consistently 18 mpg, which is slightly less than my old MS (which got 19-20 mpg), it is a bigger SUV with plenty of room inside. The seats are comfortable and spacious, and I have used the back to move large items and transport my dogs in crates. If you need cargo storage, this vehicle can handle the load. I do compare the two vehicles because I loved my Montero Sport so much.

I really like the exterior of the vehicle. The seats are comfortable, especially the heated leather seats in the winter. It's fun to drive and outperforms the Pilot. I appreciate the folding seats, which are much more convenient than the Escape where you have to remove the headrest. The car fits two large dogs comfortably in the back, which is the main attraction for me as my dogs go everywhere with me. I also love satellite radio. However, I do wish that the wiper blades were quicker to respond to increase speed changes, especially since I live in the rainy Northwest. It would be great to have auto-adjusting wipers. I bought the iPod adapter, but unfortunately, I hate it! It takes control from your iPod and is impossible to find your music once it's hooked up. I would much rather have an MP3 input jack.
Emmet Schinner 2024-10-15
My husband traded my Honda Accord for an Endeavor, but unfortunately, there have been some issues. The dealership told me that they could transfer my Sirius Radio into the new car, but it turns out that all I can hear is static. They explained that there isn't a part available to prevent interference with the radio. I was pretty frustrated about this. Additionally, I noticed that the radio volume kept changing, which was quite annoying. On top of that, the cup holder is not very secure, and I can't even keep a bottle of water in it without it flying all over the place. Overall, I find the car uncomfortable to drive and it's just not to my liking. I apologize to any Endeavor enthusiasts out there.
Vaughn Swift 2024-01-27
1- The car requires premium gas to run smoothly and efficiently. 2- The engine has great power, but it is optimized with premium fuel. 3- Premium fuel can be costly. 4- The interior has some plastic fittings that may not be to everyone's taste, but it has good room and comfortable seats. 5- The exterior styling may take some getting used to. If you are considering buying an Endeavor, it is important to note that premium fuel is required for optimal performance. 6- Operating costs can be high due to the cost of premium fuel and the car's fuel economy (15 city, 20-21 hwy with premium gas). While some people enjoy this SUV, it may not be the best fit for those who cannot afford premium gas all the time.
