Common 2007 Porsche Cayman problems
The Porsche Cayman 2007 has been reported to have several common problems based on owner complaints:
- Axle Assembly Problem: Owners have faced problems with the axle assembly, which can affect the vehicle's control, especially during high-speed driving. Porsche issued a recall in 2021 to address this issue on certain Cayman models.
- Faulty Airbag Control Module: Another serious problem reported is the faulty airbag control module, which can deactivate the airbags and compromise driving safety. Porsche issued a recall in 2016 to rectify this issue on Porsche Cayman vehicles.
- Engine-Related Issues: Early Cayman models, particularly the 2005 and 2006 versions, may experience problems with the intermediate shaft bearing (IMS) and oil leaks. IMS issues can lead to engine stalling and other serious engine-related problems.
- Electrical System and Equipment Problems: Complaints have included excessive battery discharge, faulty hood latches, and issues with seatbelt anchor plates. These electrical and equipment issues can impact the overall functionality and safety of the vehicle.
These problems highlight the importance of thorough inspections and maintenance when considering a Porsche Cayman 2007 to prevent potential issues and ensure the longevity of the vehicle.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-10-01
- VIN: WP0AB29817U
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: On the freeway the brakes began pressing themselves, lifting the pedal had no impact on the brakes being applied. I had to shift into 3rd gear and floor it to move off the freeway safely. The wheel weights fell off the wheels the brakes were so hot I had to keep away from the wheel. The tire was damaged from the heat and the sidewalls began to form cracks. It looks like this is a BRAKE BOOSTER failure as I have now read several people reporting the fix for it.
STRUCTURE PROBLEM

- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
- Summary: I OWN A 2007 PORSCHE CAYMAN S AND I JUST WANT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT WHAT I BELIEVE IS A DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW. THE MUFFLER STICKS OUT EVEN SO MINIMALLY (ALMOST AN INCH) THAT I HAVE BEEN BURNED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES AT EXACT SAME AREA ON MY LOWER LEG WHEN AFTER DRIVING THE CAR, I GO TO OPEN MY BACK TRUNK TO RETRIEVE STUFF. I'VE TOLD MYSELF THAT I'LL REMEMBER THE NEXT TIME BUT SINCE THIS IS SOMETHING THAT YOU WON'T EXPECT FROM A CAR, OF COURSE, I DON'T THINK ABOUT IT. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE BURNED AREAS (1 1/2 INCHLONG AND X 3/4 CM WIDE) IN MY LEG IF YOU WANT TO SEE THEM. THE LATEST INCIDENT WAS JUST LAST WEEK, 09/04, AND THE BURN IS STILL RAW. I SENT AN EMAIL TO PORSCHE OF NO AMERICA AND THIS IS WHAT THEY ADVISED ME TO DO. "THE BEST DEPARTMENT TO SPEAK WITH IN REGARDS TO THIS MATTER WOULD BE THE SERVICE OR PARTS DEPARTMENT AT YOUR LOCAL AUTHORIZED PORSCHE DEALER AS THEY CAN ADVISE IF ANY AMENDMENTS OR CHANGES CAN BE RECOMMENDED FOR THIS SPECIFIC CONCERN AS THEY ARE PORSCHE'S TECHNICAL SUPPORT " I'VE FORWARDED MY COMPLAINT TO RUZNAK PORSCHE. *TR

We've had this car for about a month now. It's definitely faster than our '06 Boxster and the engine sounds amazing. We opted for an automatic, which can be a bit of a gas guzzler, but it shifts quickly and accelerates rapidly.

Driving the Cayman s is absolutely brilliant! Even just sitting in it, you feel 50% better for being alive. Everything is within reach, with easy-to-use switchgear and plenty of seat adjustment for maximum comfort. The engine is incredibly responsive, even when cruising at 80, reminding you that it's really only going at half speed. The car is so solid on the road that even high speeds and side winds are no match for it. Long bends that would make previous cars go light at speed are no problem at all. The only drawback so far are the chips from small stones on the bonnet - well, you can't have everything. I even bought the plastic trays for the front and rear storage as recommended by the local Porsche Club chairman. I can't wait for the Panamera! :)

I absolutely love driving this car! The balance of the chassis, steering, transmission, and engine is simply unbeatable. It's a breeze to drive around town, but taking it for a spin on a winding mountain road is where it truly shines. Plus, it's the most stunning car I've ever owned. And don't be fooled by its sporty nature - it's surprisingly practical too, with front and rear trunks that make running errands or going on weekend getaways a breeze. I've had this car for over two years now and it's been mechanically flawless, aside from a couple of minor rattles.

This is definitely the best car I've ever owned! It feels even faster than my BMW M3, except from 70 mph up. The handling is amazing, and it's hard to find a better one for the money, except maybe the Lotus Elise. But what really sets it apart is the build quality and the sound from behind you - it's just incredible! And the ride quality is so comfortable, you can easily drive it every day without any issues. Plus, the manual transmission is perfectly weighted and precise.

I recently test drove the new entry level Porsche and had a great experience. While I enjoyed the Boxster S, I found that the Cayman offered better handling and a more enjoyable driving experience compared to similarly priced BMWs and Corvettes. However, I do feel that the car could benefit from an additional 50 horsepower to justify its $55,000 price tag. Additionally, I believe that Porsche could improve by offering more reasonable pricing for their optional features. Overall, I would recommend considering the Cayman S or 911 instead, but I must say that the engine does sound sweet!
