Common 2007 Porsche Cayman problems
The Porsche Cayman 2007 has been reported to have several common problems based on owner complaints:
- Axle Assembly Problem: Owners have faced problems with the axle assembly, which can affect the vehicle's control, especially during high-speed driving. Porsche issued a recall in 2021 to address this issue on certain Cayman models.
- Faulty Airbag Control Module: Another serious problem reported is the faulty airbag control module, which can deactivate the airbags and compromise driving safety. Porsche issued a recall in 2016 to rectify this issue on Porsche Cayman vehicles.
- Engine-Related Issues: Early Cayman models, particularly the 2005 and 2006 versions, may experience problems with the intermediate shaft bearing (IMS) and oil leaks. IMS issues can lead to engine stalling and other serious engine-related problems.
- Electrical System and Equipment Problems: Complaints have included excessive battery discharge, faulty hood latches, and issues with seatbelt anchor plates. These electrical and equipment issues can impact the overall functionality and safety of the vehicle.
These problems highlight the importance of thorough inspections and maintenance when considering a Porsche Cayman 2007 to prevent potential issues and ensure the longevity of the vehicle.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-10-01
- VIN: WP0AB29817U
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: On the freeway the brakes began pressing themselves, lifting the pedal had no impact on the brakes being applied. I had to shift into 3rd gear and floor it to move off the freeway safely. The wheel weights fell off the wheels the brakes were so hot I had to keep away from the wheel. The tire was damaged from the heat and the sidewalls began to form cracks. It looks like this is a BRAKE BOOSTER failure as I have now read several people reporting the fix for it.
STRUCTURE PROBLEM

- Summary: I OWN A 2007 PORSCHE CAYMAN S AND I JUST WANT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT WHAT I BELIEVE IS A DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW. THE MUFFLER STICKS OUT EVEN SO MINIMALLY (ALMOST AN INCH) THAT I HAVE BEEN BURNED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES AT EXACT SAME AREA ON MY LOWER LEG WHEN AFTER DRIVING THE CAR, I GO TO OPEN MY BACK TRUNK TO RETRIEVE STUFF. I'VE TOLD MYSELF THAT I'LL REMEMBER THE NEXT TIME BUT SINCE THIS IS SOMETHING THAT YOU WON'T EXPECT FROM A CAR, OF COURSE, I DON'T THINK ABOUT IT. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE BURNED AREAS (1 1/2 INCHLONG AND X 3/4 CM WIDE) IN MY LEG IF YOU WANT TO SEE THEM. THE LATEST INCIDENT WAS JUST LAST WEEK, 09/04, AND THE BURN IS STILL RAW. I SENT AN EMAIL TO PORSCHE OF NO AMERICA AND THIS IS WHAT THEY ADVISED ME TO DO. "THE BEST DEPARTMENT TO SPEAK WITH IN REGARDS TO THIS MATTER WOULD BE THE SERVICE OR PARTS DEPARTMENT AT YOUR LOCAL AUTHORIZED PORSCHE DEALER AS THEY CAN ADVISE IF ANY AMENDMENTS OR CHANGES CAN BE RECOMMENDED FOR THIS SPECIFIC CONCERN AS THEY ARE PORSCHE'S TECHNICAL SUPPORT " I'VE FORWARDED MY COMPLAINT TO RUZNAK PORSCHE. *TR

Beautiful car! It has fantastic performance and is great on both the street and the track. The handling is precise and the brakes are awesome. It has enough power to stay with all but the turbo's and a wide power band. This engine loves 6200 rpm. On the street, it attracts a lot of attention and has lots of leg and head room. The interior quality is superb.

Without a doubt, the Cayman is the best car I have owned. My previous car was an Audi A6 2.7T. This car does it all - it's fast, handles great, and turns heads. It has plenty of usable power and sounds awesome accelerating. Its build quality is first class. Porsche has truly built a winner!

This is the first Porsche that I have fit into, barring the sunroofless GT3. I've been in a sports car-less funk since I sold my '95 Miata R-package. The Cayman is the perfect replacement. It's a comfortable daily commuter with absolutely brilliant handling and perfect suspension tuning. The 2.7 liter six engine is an absolute gem, very flexible and aurally pleasing. It's also very practical with both trunks and cabin storage.

What a great find! I purchased a perfect, no-frills driver's sports car with a 2.7-liter flat six engine and 250 horsepower, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It's hard to believe that I bought this car seven years ago for only $30K and just sold it for $20K with only 36,000 miles on the odometer. The new owner got an amazing deal! This rock-solid sports car has a lot of snob appeal and is sure to turn heads. However, I must note that the headlights received a poor rating due to significant fogging, even though the car was garaged 95% of the time. I expected better from headlights that cost $2K to replace. Luckily, my indie mechanic was able to refinish them to look like new for only $200.

I previously had an SLK and a Z4 convertible. This 2 dr Cayman is even more enjoyable to drive. I feel fantastic whenever I get in it and have owned it for a year without getting bored. I purchased it used with low miles and would only consider trading it in if I was buying another Porsche.
