1994 Mitsubishi 3000gt problems
The Mitsubishi 3000GT is a front-engine, all-wheel/front-wheel drive grand touring/sports car manufactured and marketed by Mitsubishi from 1990 until 2000 over three different generations. Manufactured in a three-door hatchback coupé body style in Nagoya, Japan, the 2+2 four-seaters were marketed in the Japanese domestic market (JDM) as the GTO, and globally as 3000GT. In North America, it was sold both as the Mitsubishi 3000GT (1991–1999) and the Dodge Stealth (1991–1996), a badge engineered, mechanically identical captive import. As a collaborative effort between Chrysler and Mitsubishi Motors, Chrysler was responsible for the Stealth's exterior styling.
The car was based on Mitsubishi's Sigma/Diamante and retained their transverse mounted 3-liter, 24-valve V6 engines and front-wheel-drive layout. The GTO's engines were naturally aspirated or with twin-turbochargers and were also available with active aerodynamics (automatically adjusting front and rear spoilers), four-wheel-steering, full-time all-wheel-drive and adaptive suspension.
Mitsubishi marketed a retractable hardtop variant, which were engineered and converted from coupé models in California by ASC, and sold as the GT Spyder or VR4 Spyder for model years 1993–1995. These were the first fully automated retractable hardtop marketed since the 1959 Ford Skyliner.
The JDM model took its name from the Galant GTO, a two-door hardtop coupé marketed by the company in the early 1970s, which in turn took its name from the Ferrari 250 GTO, short for Gran Turismo Omologata – "Omologata" signifying that it met motorsport homologation requirements.

I can tell you really love your 3000GT! It sounds like you're having a lot of fun driving it. It's great that even the base engine has a lot of pep to it and can still compete with today's sports cars. And with a few mods, you can really boost the horsepower! Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

I recently purchased my '94 Mitsubishi 3000 GT and I absolutely love it! The car's unique looks and body design really make it stand out on the road. Despite being slightly heavier, it's built strong and handles incredibly well. The only minor issue I've noticed is a slight under steer at very high speeds when taking corners, but as NASCAR legend Darrel Waltrip once said, 'high wide and handsome'! Adding an after-market front anti-sway-bar should minimize this. I've also made some upgrades to the car, including a Cold Air Intake, RS Catback Exhaust, Motegi 16

I had a 1991 that was the best car I've ever owned. It was fast, reliable, and dependable up until I totalled it. I also purchased a 1994 that is okay, but the automatic transmission lags when putting it into drive when it's cold, then jerks with great force. I replaced the transmission, and the new one was fine, but after 8 months, it started having the same problem. Unfortunately, it's not as reliable as the first one I had. Not even close.

Hey there! What you see is what you get!

I absolutely love my car! It has been mechanically reliable and is so much fun to drive. Even though I have always been a Toyota person, I couldn't resist the beautiful body styling of this car and it has definitely paid off. The good definitely outweighs any bad and I would definitely purchase this car again. Although I now need a car with a bigger back seat, I will be keeping this one as well. The only minor issues I have had were with the antenna motor, power window motor, and 6-CD changer, which all died, as well as the shift boot peeling and one panel light on the heater dial going out. Overall, I am still very happy with my car and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and reliable ride! :)

This car has been problematic since day one and has caused me to lose a significant amount of time for school and work. Despite being marketed as a reliable alternative to Camaro and Mustang, it has failed to live up to expectations. The car died after only a few uses, which has been a major inconvenience. Additionally, the gas mileage is abysmal at 16/22 for a V6. If I had known this beforehand, I would not have purchased this car. It is important to thoroughly research and consider all factors before making a significant purchase like a car.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my 3000gt. Unfortunately, I had some trouble with it shortly after purchasing it with 44,000 miles. However, I was able to fix the transmission issue for $1,500 and decided to switch to a manual transmission. I also had to replace the alternator for about $300 and spent a week in the shop. While some say that a car with this mileage should not have these issues, I have found that every little part in a Mitsubishi is made in Japan. Overall, I am disappointed with my purchase and would advise against buying any Mitsubishi, from Montero to Mirage. Thanks for listening to my story!

If you're considering purchasing a 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT, it's important to be aware of the potential issues that may arise. Despite my efforts to address various problems such as the starter, alternator, water pump, PCV valve, ignition switch, and transmission, I have unfortunately experienced ongoing difficulties with this car. It may be worth exploring other options before making a purchase.
