2022 Ford F-350 sd problems
The Ford Super Duty (also known as the Ford F-Series Super Duty) is a series of heavy-duty pickup trucks produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 1999 model year. Slotted above the consumer-oriented Ford F-150, the Super Duty trucks are an expansion of the Ford F-Series range, from F-250 to the F-600. The F-250 through F-450 are offered as pickup trucks, while the F-350 through F-600 are offered as chassis cabs.
Rather than adapting the lighter-duty F-150 truck for heavier use, Super Duty trucks have been designed as a dedicated variant of the Ford F-Series. The heavier-duty chassis components allow for heavier payloads and towing capabilities. With a GVWR over 8,500 lb (3,900 kg), Super Duty pickups are Class 2 and 3 trucks, while chassis-cab trucks are offered in Classes 3, 4, 5, and 6. The model line also offers Ford Power Stroke V8 diesel engines as an option.
Ford also offers a medium-duty version of the F-Series (F-650 and F-750), which is sometimes branded as the Super Duty, but is another chassis variant. The Super Duty pickup truck also served as the basis for the Ford Excursion full-sized SUV.
The Super Duty trucks and chassis-cabs are assembled at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky, and at Ohio Assembly in Avon Lake, Ohio. Prior to 2016, medium-duty trucks were assembled in Mexico under the Blue Diamond Truck joint venture with Navistar International.

STEERING,SUSPENSION PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-05
- VIN: 1FT8W3BN8NE
- Components: STEERING,SUSPENSION
- Summary: Highway travel at approx 65mph, experienced a sudden violent uncontrollable steering wheel movement known as a death wobble. Uncontrollable steering wheel movement increased resulting in a reactionary driver hard breaking application to try and regain control of the vehicle steering WITHOUT checking rear view mirror for other motorists close behind. Speed dropped to approx 30-35mph before regaining control of steering. Fortunately no vehicles were following close behind or the affected vehicle and other highway occupants may have resulted in a crash caused by the uncontrollable vehicle and sudden breaking. Components/systems involved include front suspension/steering. Dealer #1 stated vehicle was inspected and found no abnormal wear or damage, all specs within limits. Dealer #2 found steering damper depleted requiring replacement (warranty covered), and front end alignment found out of specifications requiring addition parts installed at owner cost ($787), all while under warranty at approx 19000mi at time of occurrence. No prior symptoms or indications. One owner/driver vehicle since new. Incident occurred without warning and immediate unsafe driving conditions occured. Trip continued for approx 1000mi without further incident until inspected by 2 Ford dealerships until some sort of corrective action applied.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-11
- VIN: 1FT8W3DNXNE
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: While driving above 6mph, my truck is supposed to have 4 rear facing camera views available per the owners manual, normal rear view, bed camera, hitch view and trailer auxiliary view. Only 2 of the cameras work as described. It has been at the dealer several times, about 3 weeks total and Ford engineering was involved in the repair attempt. At first the engineer said it should work as described in the owners manual then after 2 weeks at the dealer now they're saying because it did not work when the truck was new that its normal. This is a safety concern because I cannot check the hitch view while driving, the bed camera works so you can check a fifth wheel hitch while driving but not a bumper pull. I have contacted Ford and my case number is CXH-02221093-H2Y9Q4.

- VIN: 1FT8W3BT2NE
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: Driving down the highway, I noticed my steering wheel was loose. As I continued driving the steering wheel became more loose. It was difficult to steer, I had to hold the steering wheel tight to the column in order to keep control. I was 2 miles from home when it became this bad. I slowed downand was able to manuever into the driveway. I had the truck towed to Caskinette Ford in Carthage, NY. I am awaiting information on what part failed and allowed the steering wheel to become loose. I am lucky I was able to maintain the vehicle in the lane and was not towing at this time. I could have easily lost control and been in a serious situation with myself, my family, and other vehicles on the roadway. There were no warning lamps of any kind. There was no symptom prior to failure, it just happened going down the road.
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-09-08
- VIN: 1FT8W3CNXNE
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: I purchased this truck brand new in August 2022. I have performed routine preventive maintenance on it as prescribed by the manufacturer. (FORD) At just over 96,000 miles and just days after a professional oil change service, the truck began to misfire and the check engine light came on. I took it to the dealer that i purchased it from and they diagnosed a lifter and cam shaft failure. (A delamination problem.) I've researched it online and have discovered that it is a pretty common issue with this relatively new engine. I've contacted Ford consumer affairs and filed a complaint and as of yesterday Dec 14, 2023 they finally got an answer for me. They are offering to pay $5400.00 of a almost $15,000 repair. I cannot afford this! I take their offer as an admission of liabilty and that they know of the problem. As common as this is becoming I believe there should be a recall on this 7.3 litre gas engine. One blogger on the internet estimates that about 20,000 of these engines have had this same issue already. (So far) I believe it to be a defect in the parts and not a lubrication issue because its happening in different cylinders. Mine is cylinder #2. I know for a fact that this engine is being used in motor homes and RVs that won't have the 30 to 50 thousand miles on them to make this problem show itself for probably several years. Google; "Ford 7.3L problems" or "Ford 7.3L lifter and cam issues" and see for yourself what I have read. I use this truck to make a living, I paid $60,000.00 for it and expected it to last over 300,000 miles. I tried to upload photos and emails but it wouldn't allow me to. Please help!
POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-12-08
- VIN: 1FT8W3BT9NE
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER

Transfer case shift motor failure, transmission slipping in 3,2,1 gear and when accelerating from 7-8 gear. Electronics on dash have gone out while driving multiple times. Tailgate opened up while driving multiple times. Trailer brake. Drivers side faulty window (glass) fracture across entire window when not moving. Yes, all can be inspected or paper work reviewed for repairs complete. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Could not use 4 wheel drive in icy/snowy conditions to get to destination. Transmission slipping caused my foot to come off brake pedal and immediately had to reengage brake pedal due to the force of the transmission slipping (like the transmission was falling out from under the truck), nearly hitting the car in front of me on both occasions. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. All issues have been confirmed by local Ford dealer and fixed by certified Ford mechanic, but once issue is repaired, the electronics issues and transmission issue continue to arise (exact same issues). Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, by the dealership (Ford representatives). Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, no warning signs for any of the defects other than a letter for the tailgate recall, brake recall and wiper recall.

ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-01-02
- VIN: 1FT8W3BN9NE
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: I purchased the vehicle in 2022 and in January of 2023 my engine gave a malfunction indicator light flashing with only 45000 miles in it. They claimed that the hydraulic lifter and pushrod and camshaft were broken and damaged causing metal to spread throughout the engine. It took about a month to get my vehicle back. In May of 2023 the second engine gave out again with about 38000 miles on it. I was informed the same exact parts failed in the same cylinder causing metal debris to spread throughout the engine again. Ford is knowingly selling vehicles with these defective parts that could potentially put me and my family in danger. There are many videos and forums with ford technicians putting images of these parts online. I’m now on engine number three in less than a year and at two different dealerships in different states was informed that they are seeing this trend. It’s been six weeks now that my vehicle is at the dealer. I am an owner operator and this truck is my only livelihood. Another failure will put me out of business if not the. Potentially in harms way.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY PROBLEM

I take it to Ted Russell Ford in Knoxville, TN and they deny my warranty. Stating something the size of a basketball hit my sunroof but the cloth barrier shows no sign of damage. I spoke with customer service and they refused to warranty the issue. This is a known issue with Ford and Lincoln and have thousands of complaints concerning this issue.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-09-18
- VIN: 1FT8W3BT6NE
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: The vehicle has a Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) of 30,000 LBS. While towing, the vehicle would show on the dash at intermittent times "Trailer not connected." When this occurs, the trailer brakes are no longer operating placing all braking on the tow vehicle with the potential for brake fade or complete brake failure and catastrophic loss. This intermittent failure of the electrical brake system does not occur on other tow vehicles that were equipped with after-market brake controllers, such as Tekonsha. The vehicle was brought into the Ford Dealership to look into the issue. Ford had the truck for nearly two weeks and could not figure out the problem. After much self-research, it was determined that the factory installed brake controller cannot discriminate between trailers using electric brakes and trailers using electric/hydraulic brakes. The fix is to install an actuator (ETrailer Code DX35FR - Adapter Module for BrakeRite Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator - OE Ford, GM Brake Controllers) on the trailer to provide resistance that will allow the factory installed controller to recognize the trailer/hydraulic brakes. A technician also advised that a work around would be to wire in small magnets to the wiring of the trailer to provide the resistance. The forums state that this occurs with trailers five years or older for which there are thousands on the road. This limitation/defect applies to the majority of trailers being towed on the highways today. Failure to advise drivers of this limitation/defect and the intermittent sequencing of the disconnection leaves non-professional, recreational drivers at significant risk of brake failure while towing up to nearly 30,000 pounds. NHTSA should investigate why standard after-market brake controllers have no issues of this kind while the "supposedly" state-of-the-art new vehicle controllers are limited. It is my understanding that this same issue is found with GM and possibly RAM products.
STEERING PROBLEM

The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,300.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-06-20
- VIN: 1FT8W3BT7NE
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: Ford F-350 SWR, long bed, King Ranch. Purchase date: 6/20/2022, new. Problem with this truck is steering wander. While traveling extra attention has to be given to the location of the truck. Take your eyes off the road for a second and it's scary. You are assured you will be in a different location than expected, either off the road or on the wrong side of the yellow line. I pray I don't hit a pedestrian or cross over the yellow line into another vehicle. Since 2011 I have purchased 2 F150's, 1 F250, 3 F350's. None of the previous models and only the 2022 F350 had this characteristic. The wander was confirmed by a supervisor of the Surry County paramedics. He was referring to a F450. This is unsafe to drive. It should not be difficult to fix, just make them like the older models. It's ironic but the alarm came on saying i needed a coffee break. There are many cost saving implementations on this truck which may be ok but not this one. This problem has been taken to the selling dealer but they said could not fine a problem, but the toe-in was increased.
