The Chevrolet Colorado (sharing mechanical commonality with the GMC Canyon), is a series of compact pickup trucks (mid-size since second generation) marketed by American automaker General Motors. They were introduced in 2004 to replace the Chevrolet S-10 and GMC S-15/Sonoma compact pickups. First generation (2004)
The Chevrolet Colorado and its twin, the GMC Canyon were jointly designed by GM's North American operations, GM's Brazil operations, and Isuzu, which began selling its own version worldwide in 2002. In late 2005, Isuzu offered a version in North America called the Isuzu i-series. This North American model Isuzu shared North American powertrains, styling, and equipment with the Colorado/Canyon twins and differed from Isuzu's worldwide offering. All Chevrolet, GMC, and Isuzu versions worldwide are based on the GMT355, itself the basis for the GMT 345-based Hummer H3. Most vehicles for markets outside North America are manufactured at a GM plant in Rayong, Thailand. All North American-market vehicles were manufactured by Shreveport Operations.
The cooperation between GM and Isuzu to build a light-duty truck and offer it in North America returns to an original arrangement the two companies had in the 1970s with the Chevrolet LUV, a rebadged Isuzu Faster.

The 2008 Colorado has a 5-foot bed in the back for the Crew cab model and a 6-footer for Regular and Extended cabs. The box stretches 57 inches across and it goes 18.5 inches deep.

This is my first small truck and I am very pleased with it. It rides great and has a peppy engine that accelerates quickly. I think it's better than my friend's Nissan small truck. Although the editors may say otherwise, I believe this is a mighty fine truck. It would be great if a bed liner was included in the future. I have driven 6000 miles and have had no problems. Additionally, the gas mileage is better than indicated by 2-3 mpg.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my truck. I bought it brand new back in 11/07 and traded in my old Toyota 2004 Tacoma. I was a bit hesitant at first since it was my first American truck, but I have to say, I'm really pleased with it! I've put over 16000 miles on it and it still rides great. It handles the road really well and drives like a car. I've even had to pull my 6000lb skid loader out of the mud and tow large chippers, and it had no trouble at all. Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend it to anyone in the market for a new truck!

We purchased this 4 WD crew cab pick-up on March 17th, 2008 and have been putting it through its paces ever since. To make it more functional, we added running boards and a Leer cap. Since my elderly Dad lives with us, we needed the crew cab. As an active country family, we use it to haul landscaping and building materials, as well as other items for the country church we belong to. Recently, we drove it 1600 miles from NYS to Sanibel Island, FL and it performed exceptionally well. This truck is a great combination of economy, utility, passenger hauling, and comfort. We were able to get 20 mpg on the highway. Throughout the spring, we used it to haul green waste to the town transfer station, lumber to build raised vegetable garden beds, and loads of rotted horse manure to add to those beds. We are extremely satisfied with our decision.

This is a great truck for running around town. The cabin is very quiet both when driving around town and at highway speeds. There is plenty of leg room and the leather interior is very easy to keep clean. I get around 20 mpg around town, and a little higher on the highway. I have had zero problems so far, despite some reviews by rating editors questioning the quality of build. Overall, this is a very nice truck for the price!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with this truck. When I first bought it brand new, I was really excited. However, I started to experience some back pain due to the lack of lumbar support in the seat. It took me a little while to figure out what was causing it, but once I did, I realized that it was a bit of a bummer. Additionally, I did have some trouble with the brakes at times, but overall it was a decent ride. While it did have a lot of power at first, it unfortunately didn't last very long. Towards the end, I did start to hear a bit of a grinding noise, but I'm sure the next buyer will be able to handle it. Thanks for listening!

I've been experiencing a lot of issues with my truck, such as engine noise when starting, bad brakes, and air noise in the cab. Unfortunately, none of these problems have been resolved, and I don't think they will be, according to the dealers. The engine noise is due to metal tolerance, and I couldn't find any information about it on the window sticker. However, the last dealer I visited was able to fix it for me by adding oil additive to the engine. The rear lug nuts were worn out because the dealer blew brake dust out while repairing a brake pedal issue. The doors are adjusted so tightly that they pop when opened, but at least the service was prompt. Overall, the product is probably good, but the service could use some improvement.

Hello! I bought mine used in Jan.09 and I absolutely love how it looks. However, there have been a few problems since then. I found out that the inline 5 motor tends to overheat or run hot when towing, which has happened to me a few times already. Additionally, the motor runs loud and the tire pressure sensors always need to be reset. While the gas mileage is not as good as I was led to believe, the interior room is very comfortable on long trips. Although the bed lights are always going out, I still love my Colorado. One suggestion I have is to invest in a spray-on bed liner, as the stuff that it comes with stinks. I hope this information helps!

I purchased this truck brand new in Fall 2008 and have taken great care of it. Despite having less than 65k on the truck, I have had to replace a few parts over the years, including the heat shield at 5k, headlight at 10k, lumbar&blower at 18k, ignition at 40k, fuel pump at 50k, and fuel line at 55k. I have noticed that the 5-cyl engine needs to be warmed up or it sputters on the next start, which can be frustrating. However, once it is running, it is like a British sports car - I love the way it looks, handles, and the engine has plenty of power & low-end torque and sounds great. While the gas mileage is not as good as some full-size models (my 2WD Z71 Crew Cab gets 16/20.5 on flat Florida roads), I still enjoy driving it. The interior is a bit lackluster and could use some tech upgrades, but overall, I am happy with my purchase. I believe that GM has the potential to build even better trucks, but this one has served me well.

I really enjoy driving this vehicle, despite the lack of features such as an emergency brake release that is a bit cheap and comes off easily, non-adjustable seats, and some issues with the starter experiencing turn over problems. Although I had to take it to the dealership to have the squirrel cage on the a/c replaced (as the original one squealed when on), the fuel economy is good for a truck, and it is incredibly fun to drive - sporty in one word! This vehicle is definitely perfect for a younger driver looking to save on insurance and gas, who doesn't mind working out the bugs with the dealership. OnStar is also great. Overall, it's a great buy that delivers power when demanded. Although I would have preferred a more rugged interior and at least an adjustable driver seat, it's still a fantastic vehicle.
