SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

- VIN: 4M2CU39H28K
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: ABS BRAKE LIGHT WARNING CAME ON. BRAKES PRETTY MUCH STOPPED WORKING WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING TO THE LIGHTS. HAD TO DEPRESS THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO GET BRAKES. VERY UNSAFE. NOW THE BRAKE IS STUCK ON AND THE CAR DOESN'T MOVE. HAVE TALKED TO AND READ ABOUT SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT HAD THE SAME ISSUE. WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL YET?
SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2019-04-15
- VIN: 4M2CU29H98K
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: "TAKATA RECALL" WHEN I WAS LEAVING A STORE YESTERDAY I NOTICED THAT MY ABS, BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH A DESCRIPTION INDICATING MY CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM. I NEVER NOTICED AN ISSUE WITH MY BREAKS PRIOR TO THESE SIGNALS COMING ON AND MY FIANC'S CAR HAD BEEN FUNCTIONING WELL FOR THE LAST FOUR YEARS. I NORMALLY DRIVE THE SUV SO WHEN I NOTICED IT SAID THAT I MADE SURE THE BREAKS WERE WORKING WHEN I STARTED TO MOVE. I DID NOTICE THAT THE BREAKS REQUIRED MORE OF A FIRM PUSH WHEN I WAS NEEDING TO COME TO A SPOT. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY ACCIDENTS OR CAUSED ME TO RUN ANY STOP LIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS. HOWEVER, AFTER DOING MY OWN RESEARCH I DID FIND OUT THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR THE 2008 MERCURY MARINERS AND FROM SOME OF THE WARNINGS I HAVE READ STATED THE BREAKS ENDED UP FAILING AFTER THIS ALL ACCRUED AND ABOUT GOT THEM INTO ACCIDENTS. WITH THE NHTSA ALREADY INVESTIGATING THE '2006-2012 FUSION AND LINCOLN MKZ AND THE 2006-2011 MERCURY MILAN' MODELS WITH THE SAME ISSUES, IT SEEMS THE ISSUE IS BIGGER THAN JUST THE MERCURY MARINER.
POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-01-28
- VIN: 4M2CU39H68K
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: WE BOUGHT VEHICLE IN JAN, 2018 FROM A PRIVATE PARTY, AS A WORK VEHICLE FOR MY HUSBAND, WHO IS A USPS RURAL ROUTE CARRIER. TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE LIGHT WENT ON, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP WHEN IT WAS SUPPOSED TO, WHICH WAS VERY DANGEROUS IN WINTER. WE BELIEVE THE PRIOR OWNER KNEW ABOUT THIS. THE LIGHT WOULD JUST GO ON & OFF WITH NO PATTERN. ABOUT 1 1/2 MONTHS LATER, HE WAS DRIVING ON A 2 LANE HGWY (55 MPH) DELIVERING MAIL. HE WENT TO PULL FORWARD BUT THE CAR MADE A BRIEF NOISE AND THEN EVERYTHING JUST STOPPED WORKING. THE CAR WOULDN'T START, NO ELECTRICAL OR LIGHTS, HE COULD NOT EVEN ROLL THE VEHICLE BY HIMSELF TO A SAFE PLACE W/OUT HELP. THE ELECTRICAL AND PROPULSION SIMPLY STOPPED WORKING; PERIOD. WE ENDED UP DRAGGING IT HOME. DEALERSHIP GAVE EST. AMT OF REPAIRS AROUND $18K. I FOUND THE RECALL IN 2014 (14S19) FOR THE SAME THING. THE MEC PUMP WAS REPLACED IN 2014, WITH A "SUPPLEMENTAL" FIX IN 2015 SAME ISSUE. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS THE PREVIOUS RECALL, WHICH NEITHER MERCURY OR ANY DEALERSHIP WANTS TO HONOR. I'M GUESSING THERE ARE MORE HYBRID MARINERS W/ SIMILAR ISSUES, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO ISSUE A FOLLOW-UP RECALL. SO HERE WE ARE STUCK IN CAR REPAIR PURGATORY. I DO BELIEVE THEY SHOULD HONOR THE RECALL NOW AND FIX THE PUMP AND REPLACE THE HYBRID BATTERY. NOT SURE ABOUT THE BRAKES, BUT I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THEM AS WELL - AGAIN, NOT ENOUGH FOR A RECALL, WHICH AGAIN. PURGATORY. MY HUSBAND WAS VERY LUCKY. HAD IT BEEN A DIFF TIME OF DAY THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE CAR & SEMI-TRUCK TRAFFIC ON THE HWY (SPEED LIMIT IS 55) AND WITH HIM LITERALLY JUST STOPPED DEAD IN HIS TRACKS, THERE SURELY WOULD HAVE AN IMMINENT RISK OF A SERIOUS REAR-END COLLISON, WITH POTENTIALLY DEADLY INJURIES. I AM LOOKING FOR HELP, ASSISTANCE, GUIDANCE AND ANYTHING ELSE FROM ANY SOURCE POSSIBLE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. WE ARE AT OUR WITTS END!!

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-09-17
- VIN: 4M2CU39H98K
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: HEADING WEST ON THE INTERSTATE I TOOK THE OFF RAMP AND CAME TO A STOP. AS I WAS STOPPING A TONE RANG OUT, THE ABS LIGHT, AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE BRAKES DIDN'T FEEL AS STIFF AS THEY SHOULD HAVE BUT I DID COME TO A STOP AS I WASN'T TRAVELING VERY FAST WHILE APPROACHING THE STOP SIGN. I TURNED LEFT AND PROCEEDED OVER THE OVERPASS TOWARDS A SIDE ROAD WHEN A CAR THAT HAD COME UP THE OFF RAMP FROM THE EASTBOUND LANE ROLLED THE STOP SIGN AND STOPPED WITH THE NOSE OF THEIR VEHICLE IN MY LANE. I NEARLY PUT THE BRAKE PEDAL THROUGH THE FLOOR AND HAD LITTLE TO NO BRAKES TO STOP ME. I AND MADE A SPLIT SECOND DECISION TO SWERVE AROUND THE CAR, DRIVING IN THE ONCOMING LANE AS I WAS ABLE VERIFY THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. ONCE I PULLED OVER ON A SIDE ROAD I NOTICED THE DISPLAY IN THE DASH READ "REGEN BRAKE DISABLED" I DROVE SLOWLY TO A SMALL CAR SALES LOT WITH AN AUTO SHOP AND THEY RESEARCHED FOR A FEW MINUTES AND TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER TO REPLACE A HYDRAULIC PUMP. THEY WERE ABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE BY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY FOR A BIT BUT SAID MORE THAN LIKELY THE FIX WOULDN'T LAST. NEXT STOP IS THE FORD DEALER BUT FROM WHAT I'VE READ TONIGHT, MANY OTHER USERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE AND HAVE BEEN QUOTED OVER HALF THE BOOK VALUE OF THE VEHICLE TO FIX THE ISSUE. I WAS GLAD NOT TO SLAM INTO THE PASSENGER DOOR OF THE LADY WHO PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME, I WAS GLAD I HAD A CLEAR LANE TO AVOID HER WITHOUT HAVING A HEAD-ON COLLISION BUT I CAN SEE WHERE THIS ISSUE COULD HAPPEN AT THE WRONG TIME AND PLACE AND CAUSE HARM OR LOSS OF LIFE FOR THOSE INVOLVED. BECAUSE I HAD LITTLE TO NO BRAKES WITH THE PEDAL PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR

I hope you're doing well! I noticed that you were searching for a good value in a used Hybrid car and were concerned about performance, price, and reliability. I did some research on this car and was very impressed with its performance, handling, features, and style. If you're interested, I highly recommend taking one for a drive and seeing what I mean. I also have a Fusion that I like, but this car has been a great choice! It performs like a powerful 6 cyl, but gets 30+ MPG combined mileage (my real experience). It's also very comfortable and gets positive comments from my family and friends, who think it looks like a new car!
Torey Buckridge 2025-01-03
This SUV has good gas mileage and performance for a hybrid. Although there have been a few quality issues, overall it is a good choice.
Virgil Kautzer 2024-11-06
I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to let you know that I've had the car for two weeks now and I couldn't be happier. The efficiency is exactly what was projected, the creature comforts have exceeded my expectations, and even my 9-year old son thinks the car is really cool.
Kayden Breitenberg 2024-09-28
I am so impressed with this car! It's definitely the coolest car I've ever driven. I do find it a bit puzzling that Ford seems to undervalue it, given the limited features and colors compared to the V6. However, I think they should be proud of themselves for creating such a fantastic vehicle. In my opinion, this car should be the flagship vehicle for Mercury. It's so much fun to drive, especially when it goes into EV mode, and the efficiency and fit and finish are amazing. The NAV system and stereo are both awesome, and the fact that it comes with free Sirius for 3 years is a great bonus! My wife and I both loved it so much that we each got one!
Deontae Hartmann 2024-09-26
Just switched from an '05 Mariner FWD V6 to an '08 AWD Hybrid and we are super impressed! The car has been redesigned beautifully, and we still love it just as much as the first version. The interior has been improved significantly and seems bigger, even though it is not. Overall, it is a more upscale looking vehicle. The hybrid engine is a joy to drive, and we are hitting close to 30 miles per gallon, even with the majority of miles being on the highway.
