2017 Land rover Discovery problems

The Land Rover Discovery is a series of seven-seater family SUVs, produced under the Land Rover marque, from the British manufacturer Land Rover, and later Jaguar Land Rover. The series is currently in its fifth iteration (or generation, according to the manufacturer), the first of which was introduced in 1989, making the Discovery the first new model series since the launch of the 1970 Range Rover – on which it was based – and only the third new product line since the conception of the Land Rover (vehicle and brand) by Rover in 1948. The model is sometimes called influential, as one of the first to market a true off-road capable family car.
Although the Range Rover had originally been designed as an everyday four wheel drive car that could be used as both a utility vehicle and a family car, it had progressively moved upmarket through its life to evolve into a luxury vehicle sold at a much higher price point. The Discovery was intended to fulfill the role the Range Rover originally was intended for; a segment which was now dominated by Japanese rivals such as the Nissan Patrol, Mitsubishi Pajero and Toyota Land Cruiser. Although positioned below the Range Rover in the company's line-up, the vehicle was both longer and higher, offered more room in the back, and optionally also more seats. Space utilization became more sophisticated in later iterations, but the series keeps offering seats for seven occupants. Despite originally being sold as an affordable alternative to the Range Rover, the Discovery has also progressively moved upmarket through its successive generations to become a bonafide luxury SUV.
The second Discovery (1998) was called the Series II, and though featuring an extended rear body, was otherwise an updated facelift, which carried on the 100 in (2,540 mm) wheelbase frame and rigid, live front and rear axles of the original Range Rover into 2004.
The third iteration – succeeding the series I and II in 2004 - was either titled the Discovery 3 or simply LR3 (in North America and the Middle East). This was the first all-original design for the Discovery. Although it followed the 2002 third generation Range Rover, also switching to fully independent suspension, it still received a separate, but integrated body and frame (IBF) structure. The fourth iteration, as of 2009 – like the series II, was again mainly an update of the new generation – marketed as the Discovery 4, or Land Rover LR4 for North American and Middle Eastern markets.
The fifth iteration of the Discovery, introduced in 2017, no longer sports a numeric suffix. Unlike the previous two generations, it now benefits from a unitized body structure, making it lighter than its predecessor.

This is my third Land Rover purchase and I am thrilled with my new Discovery LUX. The latest technology is excellent, and the safety and parking features are a huge plus. The dealership went above and beyond when we had an issue with the windshield washer jets, providing us with a loaner and fixing the issue promptly. Although the activity key is not working, the dealer has ordered us a new one and we are excited to try it out. I love the convenience of being able to open and close the back hatch by waving my foot under it, especially when my hands are full. The smart cruise control is a game changer, making driving so much easier and stress-free. The changeable ambient lighting in the car is also a fun feature. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and the exceptional service provided by the dealership.

I purchased my 2017 Disco TD6 brand new in 2017. As someone who has owned virtually every brand and type of SUV imaginable over the past 40 years, including GM, FORD, BMW, Audi and others, both diesel and gasoline, I can confidently say that this LR Disco TD6 has been an absolute blessing. With 118,000 miles on the clock and 7 years of ownership, I have had ZERO issues. It rides like a magic carpet and gets GREAT gas mileage (23-29 highway). It has never let me down and is very capable off-road. I take it skiing annually and it performs great in the snow. The first year I had it, I took it up Muddy Ridge outside Casper, Wyoming. I ascended a 500’ mountain on a steep rocky incline on a narrow 2 track trail. It performed flawlessly in rock crawler mode and never dragged bottom once with the suspension lifted. We take it on long road trips and easily range 500 miles per tank. It’s super comfy and I’ve never owned an SUV this comfortable, reliable and capable. I simply cannot say enough good things about it.

Hi there! I just wanted to share my positive experience with this car, especially after reading a couple of negative reviews. I've actually owned this car for five years now and I absolutely love it! The only issue I ever had was when the battery died, but it turned out to be my fault for leaving the center console cooler (refrigerator) on. Other than that, I've had zero issues. I really appreciate the app that allows me to start my car and warm it up from a distance on a cold day, or cool it down before I load the kids in after being out all day. It's also great on mileage, dependable, comfortable, has a great turning radius, looks great, and gets fantastic mileage - 23 mpg daily and averages 26 mpg on road trips. I just love it!

This SUV is not only luxurious and bold looking, but it's also highly comfortable with loads of space and compartments for everything. Plus, it comes with good electronics and features. And with 7 seats, there's plenty of room for the whole family!

This is definitely the best SUV I've owned.

The initial quality of the car was very disappointing. We experienced a number of issues within the first 200 miles, including an unexplained loose clamp in the engine bay, a wire hanging loose below the undercarriage, and a broken rear cargo battery compartment cover. These issues were major safety concerns in our opinion. Additionally, the check engine light came on for no reason, the DEF fluid was low despite it should have been full, and the air conditioner only worked on the passenger side. The infotainment system and navigation were also useless on our first trip, although they have since cleared up. We were also frustrated that the car shuts off when shifted to Park, regardless of whether you want it to or not, and that it is impossible to check DEF, engine oil, or brake fluid levels in the engine bay. Lastly, the panels in the rear cargo area are very cheaply made. We have taken the Land Rover Discovery to the dealer to be worked on and hope that these issues will be resolved. Despite our disappointment, we appreciate the dealer's efforts to address these issues and hope to have a better experience with the car going forward.

I picked up my Disco last August, but unfortunately, it has been nothing but trouble. It has been back to the dealership six times now, and each time it takes 7-10 days to fix. Despite having only 5000 miles on it, I have had non-stop issues, many of which have been featured on here. The infotainment system has been updated seven times, but it is still very much broken. The cameras, sensors, apps, nav, and bluetooth are all faulty, and the car gets stuck off then gets stuck on even when the car is turned completely off and I am out of it. It's been a frustrating experience. Currently, the dealership is trying to fix a few issues, including the hood cable being too long, the infamous infotainment system disaster, no less than three warning lights on, windshield washer fluid spilling everywhere and always showing it empty (even though it has not ever been used), and the car randomly shutting off and going into an idle mode while driving down the road. The service guy today told me that he doesn't know why no one ever called me because it could have been very unsafe and he was sure that it scared me (it did!), and that this

I purchased the 2017 Discovery with high hopes. Despite encountering an issue with the air conditioner within a month of ownership, I remained confident in the vehicle's potential. Despite the AC being in service for over 40 days, the dealership did everything they could to fix the issue, but unfortunately, it would not blow cold air. As a responsible parent, I was understandably concerned when temperatures rose above 100 degrees with a baby in the back seat. However, after opening a formal case and waiting for 30 days of review, Land Rover has emailed me that they are purchasing the car back. Although it has been two weeks and I am still waiting for details on the repurchase, I am confident that Land Rover will follow through on their promise. While the car looks great, it is surprisingly small inside and has a rough ride. Despite these issues, the dealership was very nice to deal with.

The car looks and drives like a dream. Although the reliability has been questionable, I'm hoping to get the issues resolved as I love how the car drives. Unfortunately, it has been in the shop three times already with only 16K miles. The biggest issue has been with the Turbo Management system, which has gone to Restrictive Drive four times and now the check engine light is on the dashboard. It's been a disappointing experience after spending $60K on an SUV. I had higher expectations for the brand than what they are delivering.

This was my dream car and I was so excited to finally buy it. However, after a few months, I noticed some issues with the windshield leaking, which was disappointing. Thankfully, the dealership was able to replace it quickly. Unfortunately, after 6 months, I started experiencing more leaks throughout the car, causing the carpet to become soaked and a bad smell to develop. While this has been frustrating, I am hopeful that the dealership will be able to resolve the issue soon. Although I may consider selling the car before the warranty is up, I still appreciate the quality of the Land Rover brand. However, I had a negative experience with the Warren Henry dealership in Miami, as their service wait time was quite long. I hope to find a better dealership in the future.
