The Land Rover Discovery Sport (internal code L550) is a compact luxury crossover SUV produced by British automotive company Jaguar Land Rover since 2014, under their Land Rover marque, and since 2017 their best-selling model.

- Summary: Jaguar Land Rover North America, LCC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2015 Discovery Sport manufactured September 17, 2014 through November 3, 2014 and 2014-2015 Range Rover Evoque vehicles manufactured July 15, 2013 through July 1, 2015. In the affected vehicles the transmission sensor clusters may have insufficient crimps in the transmission wire harness, and as a result, the transmission may unexpectedly shift to neutral.
- Consequence: If the vehicle unexpectedly shifts to neutral, there is an increased risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the automatic transmission serial number and if required, will update the transmission software to prevent the transmission from shifting into neutral due to a faulty crimp, free of charge. The recall is expected to began October 14, 2016. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is P091.

After owning the Range Rover Evoque, which we loved, we needed a bigger vehicle for the new addition to our family. The Discovery Sport is perfect! The car has a lot of features, is fuel efficient, and has a confident ride and handling. Although the car has some cons such as being underpowered, having a hard shifting transmission (1st to 2nd gear), and no high-end sound system (the LR brand system is horrible), we still find it roomy, stylish, and durable. The interior is not as stylish as other LR products, and some interior pieces had broken numerous times. However, we still find the car to be a great choice. The infotainment system could be way better, but overall, we are happy with our purchase.

In 2015, I was one of the first 20 people to order the Discovery Sport. I was thrilled to get this SUV, but unfortunately, a year later, I started experiencing some problems. These included a creaking sound from the front door, exterior strips and trims coming loose, a crack in the passenger side rear quarter window, the trunk not closing evenly, a foul smell from the AC which required a water pump replacement, radio/clock issues, the front passenger door not opening, and the alarm turning on for no reason. Additionally, there were brake sounds and the driver's seat back panel came detached. The worst problem was the transmission failure, which was the final straw for me. Over the course of two years, the car spent 45 days in the shop. I opened a claim with the manufacturer, but unfortunately, they only offered to compensate two months of payments and did not approve a buyback. I don't feel comfortable driving a car with so many issues and won't be purchasing another Land Rover.
