The Land Rover Discovery Sport (internal code L550) is a compact luxury crossover SUV produced by British automotive company Jaguar Land Rover since 2014, under their Land Rover marque, and since 2017 their best-selling model.
Introduced in late 2014, it replaces the Freelander in a revised Land Rover range of vehicles, with Discovery joining Range Rover as a sub-brand. Contrary to its predecessor, the slightly larger car is also available in a seven seat layout.
The pre-facelift Discovery Sport is based on the JLR D8/LR-MS platform, customised for off-road applications, and is powered by a range of four cylinder petrol and diesel engines. It is the first Discovery introduced with a unibody structure.
Land Rover described the facelifted Discovery Sport as being based on the JLR PTA platform, a rebrand of the D8. It is also used by the Jaguar E-Pace and L551 version of Range Rover Evoque.

- Summary: The vehicle has a transmission problem. The vehicle will shut off at a stop and will come out of gear. I have been sitting at a traffic light and when the light turns green the car will not move (it goes back into neutral). When this happens I have to turn the engine off and restart the car before it will go into drive. When I back out of my driveway onto the main road and then place the vehicle in drive the vehicle will not go into gear leaving me and the car stranded in the road. This vehicle is going to get me injured or killed. Someone is going to hit me because I cannot move out of the way. I have almost been hit numerous times because I cannot get out of the way of oncoming traffic. The car has been back to the manufacturer 3 times now (this time they have had the car 22 days and it is still not repaired). No warning lights have come on before the incident, however the check engine light will appear after the car fails to go into gear.

The seat belt automatic locking retractors may deactivate early, which can prevent the child restraint system from securing properly.
- Consequence: An unsecured child restraint system can increase the risk of injury during a crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt assemblies as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed October 20, 2021. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N630.

The Land Rover Discovery Sport is truly unique. It's environmentally friendly, fast, powerful, elegant, and yet relatively simple. What I love most about it is how comfortable it is. There's plenty of room for the driver and family, with the back seat comfortably seating three and ample cargo space for our basic needs. Additionally, this car comes equipped with all-wheel drive and surprising 4x4 options - there are several settings when in 4-wheel drive. It's truly remarkable!

Unstoppable in the snow thanks to its adjustable traction settings and high clearance. It's surprisingly spacious for a smaller SUV, with great cargo space. Plus, it's comfortable and fun to drive!

The first sport utility vehicle we purchased had a smooth ride and all the features we needed while driving, so we decided to invest in a second one. Both vehicles were built with great engineering integrity, providing a solid and amazing driving experience compared to other SUVs we have owned in the past. We have found the fuel economy to be sufficient for our needs, and have noticed no difference from comparable SUVs we have previously owned. The four-wheel drive and 9-speed transmission provide stable acceleration and shifting in all weather conditions.

This is a real SUV with all the bells and whistles. I love it when people buy an SUV and actually take it out for a spin. I've personally enjoyed some off-roading myself, nothing too serious, just some fun trails. It's a blast to drive and the spacious back seats make it even better!

My 2020 Discovery Sport Diesel has been experiencing an annoying sound from the front end. Additionally, the car shut down in the middle of the road while I was driving it. Despite taking it to the dealer, I have yet to receive any feedback regarding the issue. Despite being only a year old with approximately 10,000 miles, this car has been a disappointment.

I recently returned from a trip to Vegas where I rented a 2020 Discovery Sport with under 8000 miles. Unfortunately, I experienced some issues with the vehicle. The throttle response was lacking and had a terrible lag time, making it difficult to pull out into traffic. Additionally, there were rattles coming from the suspension and the rear hatch was very heavy, making it difficult for my wife to lift. When closing, it shook and rattled. While I understand that it was a rental, I expected more from a Land Rover. A $40,000 vehicle should hold up better than that, especially considering it did not appear to have been abused. However, I do believe that the Discovery Sport has potential and would consider purchasing one for $20,000.

I really liked the look of this car and that's what initially caught my attention. However, after test driving it, I found that it wasn't the right fit for me. I agree with the other reviewer who mentioned the turbo lag, which caused the car to jerk when starting or accelerating. This made it difficult to make turns at traffic lights. Additionally, when I parked the car, it would sometimes roll forward a few inches, which was concerning. Despite bringing it in for service, the issue was not resolved. While the car may be suitable for highway driving, I found it challenging to drive in town and get on the highway. As a result, I have decided to return to Lexus once my lease is over.

Hi there! I noticed that there are a few small issues with your vehicle, but the biggest one seems to be the oil dilution problem. In my case, I needed an oil service after only 10 months or 12,000 km. Additionally, the DPF regeneration doesn't seem to be working properly, and there were no warnings that it wasn't working. It seems like the design fault of the previous model has now become an issue for users. Let me know if you need any help with this!
