1999 Ford Expedition problems
The Ford Expedition is a full-size three-row SUV, manufactured by Ford. Introduced for the 1997 model year as the successor of the Ford Bronco, the Expedition was the first full-size Ford SUV sold with a four-door body. For its entire production life, the Ford Expedition has been derived from the corresponding generation of the Ford F-150 in production, sharing some body and mechanical components. The fourth-generation Ford Expedition began production for the 2018 model year. Similar to the configuration of the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, the Ford Expedition is sold in regular and extended lengths (the Ford Expedition EL/Max); sold since 2007, the latter functionally serves as the replacement for the Ford Excursion.
Since 1997, the Lincoln division has marketed the Ford Expedition as the Lincoln Navigator, the first full-size SUV sold by a luxury auto brand in North America (the Expedition was never sold as a Mercury). The third Ford vehicle to use the Expedition nameplate, the full-size SUV follows a 1992 F-150 Eddie Bauer concept vehicle and a 1995 trim level package on the two-door Ford Explorer Sport.
Prior to 2009, the Ford Expedition was assembled at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan (previously home to the Ford Bronco). After 2009, the Ford Expedition was moved to the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky.

Hey there! I used to be a muscle car enthusiast, but I recently decided to switch to an SUV. A few months ago, I bought a 99 Expy and overall, I'm pretty happy with it. However, I have run into a couple of issues. The factory cd changer stopped working and I've been having trouble getting the transfer case out of 4 hi. Unfortunately, after receiving some pretty expensive estimates from 4 different shops, I had to pull the front driveshaft to prevent any major transmission damage.

Our 4th transmission is currently being replaced under warranty. We strongly advise against purchasing this vehicle due to its unreliability.

It sounds like you've had a tough time with your vehicle. It's disappointing to hear that it has a mushy ride, lousy brakes, and no cargo space. Additionally, it seems to sway from side to side like a carnival ride and floats and bounces down the road. It's also unfortunate that it's expensive, quick to lose value, and scratches too easily. The body seems to be like a tin can and it oversteers, making it feel like it leans too much while turning. On the bright side, it's fast and gets 17MPG on the highway at a reasonable speed. However, it's understandable that you wish you didn't buy it. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

We purchased this truck used with 56K miles and unfortunately, we have experienced some issues. The head gasket is now leaking oil, which will require a $1500 repair. Additionally, we had to replace the heated seats ($370 each) and the rear door molding is defective. The wiper/turn signal switch is also defective, causing the wipers to go on whenever they want to. The gas mileage is not as good as we had hoped. We have decided to switch to a Japanese SUV, but we understand that everyone has different preferences. We just wanted to share our experience with this truck. Thank you for considering our feedback.

After 3.5 years, I have to admit that it has been frustrating. Unfortunately, we have had to replace several parts such as the door locks, fuel pump, gear shift column cable, the entire electronic panel, and cruise control, among other things. It all started with a squeak about a week after we bought it. However, I am grateful that I took out an extended warranty, which has paid for itself. Although I still love my truck, I must admit that it is frustrating to pay so much money for a product that has failed to live up to expectations. While I cannot recommend it to anyone, I do acknowledge that I may have just been unlucky and gotten that 1 in a 1000 with issues. From what I have read, it seems that others have had better experiences.
