2019 Infiniti Qx60 problems

infiniti logo

The Infiniti QX60, called the Infiniti JX until the 2014 model year, is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV with three-row seating produced by Infiniti, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan. It is underpinned by an elongated Nissan Murano platform also used by the Nissan Pathfinder.

In keeping with Infiniti's naming scheme for 2014, in which cars begin with Q and SUVs begin with QX, the JX was renamed to QX60. While the number previously denoted engine displacement (for example, 35=3.5L engine), the new number, 60, is largely to do with its place in the product lineup, with larger numbers usually corresponding to more expensive vehicles.

First generation (L50; 2013)

The Infiniti JX35 was announced in April 2012 in the United States as a 2013 model. A concept version had been debuted at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event, while the production model was unveiled at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. For 2014, the car was renamed the QX60.

The QX60 was the first three-row crossover to be released by Infiniti. Design work was done through 2009, by Naoyuki Ohkoshi under Shiro Nakamura. In 2012 Nissan announced that the Pathfinder would also have the same platform as the QX60 for the 2013 model year.

The QX60 had previously been under consideration for the Australian market, but the numbers for right-hand-drive re-engineering and local homologation failed to add up and get approved by Australian authorities unlike its Nissan Pathfinder sibling. This results that the QX60 would not be available in RHD markets as it would only be available exclusively in LHD markets.

Common 2019 Infiniti Qx60 problems

The 2019 Infiniti QX60 is a large luxury SUV that offers a quiet and smooth ride, a roomy and comfortable cabin, and easy access to third-row seats

. Here are some common problems with the 2019 Infiniti QX60 based on complaints from owners:

  1. Engine issues: Some owners have reported that the engine and collision sensor lights come on without any mechanical struggle while driving, causing the vehicle to stall. The dealers were unable to locate the problem, and the owners had to put the car in park and start it up again to drive .
  2. CVT Transmission: Owners have reported hearing a knocking noise while driving, which gets louder and eventually causes the car to shake violently. The transmission had problems, which the dealers discovered after inspecting the vehicle .
  3. Electrical Problems: The reverse camera alarm may malfunction, causing drivers not to be warned when there are objects behind the vehicle that are not visible in the rearview camera. This raises the likelihood of a collision. Additionally, the forward collision sensor may engage automatically, applying the brakes even when there are no vehicles ahead, increasing the likelihood of being rear-ended by other vehicles and causing a crash .
  4. Brakes: The brakes were discovered to be unresponsive while driving at a low speed, even after flooring the pedal, causing the car to crash and the driver to sustain injuries to his or her knee and nose. A few users also expressed frustration that the brake pedal required several pumps before the car would stop .
  5. Recalls: There are two recalls for the 2019 QX60 model year. The first recall is about the possibility that a brake fluid leak on the circuit board could cause an electrical short and raise the possibility of a fire. The second recall concerns the fact that a crash is more likely when the back-up camera display is blank .

Consumer Reports lists the 2019 Infiniti QX60 as having issues with brakes, exhaust, engine electrical, electrical accessories, in-car electronics, drive system, steering and suspension, and climate.

In summary, the 2019 Infiniti QX60 has some common problems, including engine issues, CVT transmission problems, electrical problems, brake issues, and recalls. However, it also offers a quiet and smooth ride, a roomy and comfortable cabin, and easy access to third-row seats. Consumers should weigh the pros and cons carefully and compare the QX60 with other similar vehicles in the market before making a decision.

  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
  • Summary: The car engine suddenly shut off itself while I am driving in the middle of the road. The engine and the collision sensor lights were on, I had to fully stop the car and put it into "P" then restart the engine in order to go again. It was a heavy snowing day, I drove pretty slow about 20- 30 mph. It happened twice that day and one of the times I was stopped at the middle of an intersection. There were no warning lamps or any other symptoms at all, and my car still has fuel which the dealer can prove. It's extremely dangerous because my car just suddenly has to stop especially it was a snowing day. I got the car tolled to an Infiniti dealer the next day, they ran a check and did a test drive (was not snowing the next day) but they couldn't duplicate the problem, so they cannot fix anything. Contacted Infiniti Cooperate but they said if the dealer couldn't duplicate the problem, they cannot do anything about it.

  • Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
  • Park Out Side: 1
  • Park Out Side: 1
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP
  • Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Nissan Murano, 2016-2018 Nissan Maxima, and 2017-2019 Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and unrepaired, or inspected and determined to not need a repair, under recall number 18V-601. In addition, this recall expands the previous population. The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) actuator pumps may allow brake fluid to leak onto an internal circuit board.
  • Consequence: A brake fluid leak on the circuit board may result in an electrical short, increasing the risk of a fire.
  • Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ABS actuator, free of charge. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available, currently expected to be during summer 2020. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Note: If the ABS warning light remains illuminated for more than 10 seconds after engine start up, owners are advised to park the vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles or structures and to not drive the vehicle.

  • Consequence: The lack of an image in the back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Nissan will notify owners in phases, having dealers update the back-up camera settings software, free of charge. Negative 2019 Infiniti Qx60 car reviews

  1. Heber Dietrich 2025-01-05

Your wife will love this car, but there are a few things to consider before purchasing a 2019 model. If you plan on doing any routine maintenance yourself, this may not be the best car for you. Simple tasks like changing a filter, which are easy on other cars, are complicated and difficult on this model. For example, the cabin air filter is located under panels, which requires you to remove the panels on the passenger side of the dog box and blindly stick your hand in there to get it in and out. It is the only vehicle I have ever owned that makes it tricky to check your own oil. If you prefer to have everything done at the dealer, you should know that it is not service-friendly. Like most modern cars, it uses synthetic oil, which has many benefits such as extended interval times on oil changes. However, this is not the case for this car. The book recommends changing the oil every 5000-7500 miles, which is okay for synthetic blends but not for synthetic oil. This feels like a waste. The dealer insists on oil changes every 3000 miles, which is the norm for standard oil. When I mentioned this to the advisor, he said that 5000 miles would be okay. However, synthetics are typically changed every 10,000 miles. It feels like the system is set up to help the dealer make money on maintenance that they shouldn't. Additionally, it lacks some basic features that you would expect on a luxury car, such as a digital speedometer and a tire monitoring system. You would have to check the air in your tires with a gauge. However, there is an alert that comes on when a tire is low. The car is also noisy with pronounced road noise that you would expect in a budget car. On the positive side, it has a very impressive turning radius and is comfortable to drive. Some people may not like this, but I do - the Pure model has faux (fake) leather for the seats. After a year, I noticed that they are still perfect with no wear, creases, or marks. The high-quality vinyl holds up well with kids, car seats, and food everywhere. When driving at night, you'll notice some convenient little lights in the cab that illuminate important areas such as the drink holders and phone storage compartment. The charger in the phone storage area has a charging port that doesn't connect to the radio, so it won't turn off whatever you're listening to. One of the biggest factors in our decision to purchase this vehicle was the tremendous depreciation. We were able to buy a one-year-old car with only 14K miles for $29K, while new ones of the same year had a sticker price of $49K. So, you can save a lot of money while still getting a car that feels brand new. My wife absolutely loves it! I haven't mentioned the things I don't like to her because, in the long run, they don't really matter. It's a great value when purchased used, and it's like a fancy Pathfinder with a little extra flair. The AWD makes it handle great in the snow, and it's incomparable to other cars in its class, such as a Lexus or BMW. I hope this review helps someone make a decision. And, of course, it looks fantastic!

  2. Brandt Welch 2024-11-12

The accuracy of the Navi system in my 2019 QX 60 has been a concern for me. Despite being directed to the software company, I was disappointed to learn that Infiniti does not support the program. However, I am confident that this issue can be resolved with the help of Infiniti's support. While I have been informed that a model update will be available in 2021, I am hopeful that a solution can be found sooner. I appreciate the excellent service provided by the dealership's service department, and I am confident that Infiniti of Apex NC will address my concerns in a timely and satisfactory manner.

  3. Dwight Johns 2024-10-15

You've been to the dealer several times and they keep telling you that there's a known problem with the flow, but unfortunately, they don't have a fix for it. I can understand how frustrating it must be to have a car without proper heat, especially in Canada where it can get really cold. It's surprising to hear that your 1974 car had better heat than your current one.

I purchased the car with cash, but after a week of driving it, I noticed some issues. The car didn't feel right and there was a lot of smoke coming from the tailpipe. Even after changing the oil, it still didn't feel like any car I had driven before. One day, while driving to work, the engine light came on and I had to pull over and have it towed to an Infinity Dealer. Unfortunately, they said I needed a new engine and wouldn't honor the extended warranty I had purchased. Thankfully, the dealer I bought the car from was willing to honor the warranty and discovered that the oil had sludge in it. They cleaned it three times and drove it a few times, but it took nine weeks of going back and forth before they finally resolved the issue. In the end, I requested a full refund on the car and the warranty, and I received the check yesterday! I'm now looking to purchase another QX60, but this time from a new dealership with an extended warranty.

This car is not performing as expected. It has a tendency to consume more fuel than anticipated and requires frequent oil changes. Additionally, the backseat is not as spacious as I would prefer. However, it is a highly advanced vehicle that showcases the latest technology. Despite the challenges, I am committed to paying off the car over the next five years.

Positive 2019 Infiniti Qx60 car reviews

I recently bought a QX60 AWD, and it now has 58,500 miles on it. I had the oil changed and tires balanced and rotated, and I have yet to experience any problems with it. It runs well and drives smoothly without any issues. I make sure to keep it clean and well-maintained. I would definitely buy another one.

In 2020, we purchased a 2019.5 model as a CPO vehicle. My wife chose the car as it met all of her requirements, including a comfortable ride, safety features, and tremendous practicality with three rows to haul people and/or cargo. The car has been fantastic with no issues and just routine maintenance. Acceleration is excellent and the CVT performs seamlessly to date. We hope to enjoy many more trouble-free miles as this car is beautiful, well-executed, comfortable to drive long distances, solidly built, and able to carry everything you need. It is an all-around perfect family vehicle and a sound value proposition (we bought a Luxe with safety and luxury packages). It is worth noting that some of the negative reviews appear to be for other model years. Thank you for considering our experience with this car.

A really cool car, with a fantastic ride.

I recently had a flat tire on the right front of my car. Unfortunately, I discovered that the jack could not be placed as shown in the handbook due to the optional running boards installed, which did not provide enough clearance. I had to move the jack about 3-4 inches forward of the two notches in the frame member to jack up the right front. This was on level asphalt in a parking lot. Additionally, disconnecting the spare from the hoist cable was almost impossible. However, I am grateful that it was a nice sunny day and not pouring down rain at night. Overall, we still like the car, and it is our 5th infinity in 15 years.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to let you know that I recently washed my car and it's looking great. Also, I'm excited to share that my car has Apple CarPlay, which has been a game-changer for me. Take care!
