Infiniti Qx60 problems

The Infiniti QX60, called the Infiniti JX until the 2014 model year, is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV with three-row seating produced by Infiniti, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan. It is underpinned by an elongated Nissan Murano platform also used by the Nissan Pathfinder.
In keeping with Infiniti's naming scheme for 2014, in which cars begin with Q and SUVs begin with QX, the JX was renamed to QX60. While the number previously denoted engine displacement (for example, 35=3.5L engine), the new number, 60, is largely to do with its place in the product lineup, with larger numbers usually corresponding to more expensive vehicles.
First generation (L50; 2013)
The Infiniti JX35 was announced in April 2012 in the United States as a 2013 model. A concept version had been debuted at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event, while the production model was unveiled at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. For 2014, the car was renamed the QX60.
The QX60 was the first three-row crossover to be released by Infiniti. Design work was done through 2009, by Naoyuki Ohkoshi under Shiro Nakamura. In 2012 Nissan announced that the Pathfinder would also have the same platform as the QX60 for the 2013 model year.
The QX60 had previously been under consideration for the Australian market, but the numbers for right-hand-drive re-engineering and local homologation failed to add up and get approved by Australian authorities unlike its Nissan Pathfinder sibling. This results that the QX60 would not be available in RHD markets as it would only be available exclusively in LHD markets.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-05
- Date Complaint: 2024-10-07
- VIN: 5N1AL0MM5FC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: The car intermittently will not accelerate after being idle at stop signs etc. this has occurred on 3-5 instances in the last 4 months. All but one time when getting the vehicle later it didn't have any issues. The battery has been tested and is good, I cleaned the terminals and still had it occur. Upon reading an Infiniti forum it sounds like it is an intermittent alternator issue or electric module. This put my daughter in a stalled vehicle in an intersection several times after trying to troubleshoot issues to resolve it.

Infiniti Qx60 2017
- Date Of Incident: 2024-04-01
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-19
- VIN: 5N1DL0MM7HC
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: Vehicle began ticking in early 2023. Then received check engine light and trouble codes P0014 and P0017. Took to Infiniti dealership. Dealership claimed "sludge - you did not change oil regularly, " which I did - either at Valvoline, Wal-Mart, or by myself. Multiple online forums about Infiniti QX60 indicate all the dealership mechanics are saying the SAME thing to customers who are having this issue. Dealership claimed vehicle would need NEW engine priced at over $17,000!! They are doing this nationwide and globally. Infiniti KNOWS there is an engine defect leading to sludge and failed engine. My engine did fail in April 2024, but thankfully in my home driveway and not at high speeds - this would have been deadly had it happened on a major highway!

- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-02
- Date Complaint: 2024-08-06
- VIN: 5N1DL1GS3PC
- Components: LANE DEPARTURE
- Summary: Warning light came on saying that the Lane departure warning and Forward were not working. Another message said "Unavailable High Cabin Temperature". After further investigation 2 of the 3 advanced navigation aids were flashing which means they may not be working correctly. In reality 1; the lane departure warning and functions stopped working. 2; Cruise Control was working. 3; Vehicle to vehicle distance control or AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) seemed to work. I did not feel comfortable fully testing this last mode out. I did not want to accidently crash into the vehicle in front of me. 4. The Blind spot stopped working. 5. The TSR (Traffic Sign Recognition) seemed to stop working also. We have pictures and a video of the issues on the instrument cluster if needed. We were driving from Del CA to our home in Mesa AZ. First part of the trip Del Mar to Yuma AZ was fine. We stopped for lunch in Yuma AZ for like an hour. Outside temperature was like 109. No issues when we continued on toward glia Bend AZ. We stopped in Gila Bend AZ for a quick break. My safety was put at risk on my last quarter of my drive between Gila Bend AZ to my Home in Mesa AZ. I could no longer rely on the lane departure, Intelligent Lane Intervention and Blind Spot detection/intervention etc... We took our 2023 Infinity QX60 to Coulter Infinity Mesa to have the vehicle checked out on 8/3/24. No issue found. I even notified them that After understanding that the air was due to the cabin temperature, that I set my side of the vehicle to the LO setting which is 60 degrees. My wife already had her side of the car to like 68 degrees. When we got home I opened the hood almost immediately to check (feel) the AC units lines. They were both the same temperature as the outdoor air. Like 110. If there is technology that would allow these cameras to operate at above the 104 degrees stared in Technical Service bulletin ITB22-035 dated October 10, 2022, I feel a recall is in order. Thank You

- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-02
- Date Complaint: 2024-08-03
- VIN: 5N1AL0MN9FC
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: We purchased this vehicle 3 days ago. Day 2 there was a transmission shudder. I know these cvt transmissions have issues but with less than 18k miles??? I looked up and yes infiniti extended the warranty but we no longer qualify for this I don't think this is fair! IT HAS 18K MILES on it. The fact infiniti didn't recall the transmission is ridiculous. There are thousands of people experiencing shudder issues, cars dying, this is a danger to the drivers and their families. Why is there no recall? Extending a warranty didn't do anything! This cvt needs to be recalled and fixed so people aren't in danger of crashing.

This vehicle feels really substantial. It's so smooth and quiet both around town and on the highway. The front seats are super comfortable and supportive. The CVT transmission works incredibly well -- you won't have to worry about hunting for the proper gear or downshifting one or two gears when all you want to do is go just a little faster. Plus, it works like it has 7 discrete gears when in manual mode. The fuel mileage is beyond our expectations at 21 mpg in the suburbs with some freeway, and 24-26 mpg on highway trips, even at 75-80 mph. The only things we don't like are the small and somewhat dim numbers and letters on the trip info display between the speedometer and tach, and that it's a bit too easy to spin the front tires on acceleration from a stop, almost like the traction control isn't working. Finally, making a voice-activated phone call takes one or two steps more than with other systems, such as Ford's Sync 3.

We did a lot of shopping before deciding on the QX60 (compared to BMW, Audi, Mercedes, and Acura). Our main criteria were a 3-row, 7-seat luxury SUV that is comfortable, has a heated steering wheel (important for living in the Boston area), blind spot detection, easy access to the third row, and can comfortably seat adults in the third row. While Audi and BMW have a third row, it's not really usable. Mercedes is probably the best in class, but we had concerns about reliability and it's twice as expensive as the QX60. We've owned several Acuras (TL and RL), but we preferred the QX60 over the MDX (the third row is not as comfortable as the QX60). We decided to purchase the extended warranty (10 years, 150K bumper to bumper) for around $2K. We really like the QX60 - it's very comfortable to drive, luxurious, and has fantastic technology (Premium, Premium+, and Assist package).

I traded my 08 M35x for this vehicle because I needed more cargo space without sacrificing horsepower. Overall, it's a great hauler and an upgrade for Boston roads. However, the CVT transmission may take some getting used to. I'm still unsure if I made the right choice, but given the chance, I'd make the same decision again. After nearly three years and 100,000 miles, I've come to appreciate the CVT's operation dynamics. The cabin noise can be a bit intrusive, but it's not unbearable. This vehicle burns through bulbs more frequently than a stop light, but major repairs have included the transfer case, rear differential, steering rack, and entertainment center replacement. My advice is that this is a great comfort volume hauler that competes with the best of them. For your peace of mind, I caution against skimping on the extended factory warranty if it's available.

I love the comfort and look of the SUV. It handles quietly and comfortably on the road except when the road is wet. No matter how slowly I turn on a wet road, the back of the QX60 loses traction and fishtails. This makes driving in the rain very unnerving. I hope that fix this issue in future models. Otherwise, it is a great SUV!I recently had my Infiniti serviced and was not told that my registration sticker had expired. Although this is not your responsibility, it would have been nice for a service person to have noticed and told me this since they were doing an overall service. A week later, I received a citation for the expired registration. When I went to have the inspection done, they showed me that the power steering fluid reservoir was completely empty! THIS WAS PART OF THE SERVICE!! The service department continues to disappoint me.

I'm so glad to hear that you purchased the 2020 Luxe with Essential package! It's definitely a great value. The interior and exterior are both beautiful, and the ride is comfortable and quiet. Plus, the cabin is spacious and there are plenty of safety features to give you peace of mind.

I have been to the dealership four times and unfortunately, I still have unresolved electrical issues. These issues include problems with the Bluetooth, backup camera, truck not opening, black screen every other trip turning off, clock not working, and seatbelts not functioning properly. As a parent, this is particularly concerning and frustrating. I have decided to drop the car off back at the dealership and purchase something else as I don't have the time to deal with a vehicle of 53k value that has so many issues in such a short period of time. I have always read reviews before buying vehicles and have stuck with Nissan & Infiniti for the past ten years for their workhorse engines as two of my Nissans went to 289k & 377k miles. However, after this SUV, I am considering other options.

We have owned a variety of cars over the years, but unfortunately, this Infiniti has been the worst one yet. The vehicle's poor acceleration makes it difficult to drive, especially when entering a highway or passing. Additionally, the brake pedal can travel almost to the floor at times. Despite its high cost, the Infiniti has the same instruments as a Nissan Altima. We were disappointed to learn that the car has a poor resale value, and when we tried to sell it back, we were offered almost $12,000 less than what we paid. While we all make mistakes, we hope that others can avoid this one and find a car that better suits their needs.

I really enjoy my Infiniti, but unfortunately, I have been experiencing some issues with the CVT transmission. Since I do a lot of local driving, I have noticed a vibration around 30/40 MPH when trying to maintain a constant speed. Despite bringing it to the dealership for an oil change once a month, they have been unable to replicate the issue. I understand that this can be frustrating, but I am hopeful that we can find a solution. I have done some research and found that the CVT engine has been a problem for Nissan in the past, but I am confident that we can work together to find a resolution. I appreciate your help and understanding in this matter. My service advisor told me that Nissan is focused on making a profit, but I'm sure they also care about their customers. What do you think?

I really wanted this car, but now that I have it, I'm not as excited about it as I thought I would be. While I would like to turn it in, I know my husband would be upset since I had asked him to get it for me. However, I must say that this car is very comfortable for our family, especially considering the price. My only issue is with the dealerships. I miss the Lincoln dealership experience so much! It's disappointing that INFINITI doesn't offer complimentary maintenance like other luxury car companies. I hope they consider this in the future. Sorry INFINITI, but this is why I plan on switching to the new Navigator or Escalade as soon as I can. I wouldn't upgrade to the QX80 without the same luxury dealer experience that other companies offer. I felt like I was back at the Pontiac dealership from my college days, which is not a good thing for a
