Infiniti Qx60 problems

The Infiniti QX60, called the Infiniti JX until the 2014 model year, is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV with three-row seating produced by Infiniti, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan. It is underpinned by an elongated Nissan Murano platform also used by the Nissan Pathfinder.
In keeping with Infiniti's naming scheme for 2014, in which cars begin with Q and SUVs begin with QX, the JX was renamed to QX60. While the number previously denoted engine displacement (for example, 35=3.5L engine), the new number, 60, is largely to do with its place in the product lineup, with larger numbers usually corresponding to more expensive vehicles.
First generation (L50; 2013)
The Infiniti JX35 was announced in April 2012 in the United States as a 2013 model. A concept version had been debuted at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event, while the production model was unveiled at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. For 2014, the car was renamed the QX60.
The QX60 was the first three-row crossover to be released by Infiniti. Design work was done through 2009, by Naoyuki Ohkoshi under Shiro Nakamura. In 2012 Nissan announced that the Pathfinder would also have the same platform as the QX60 for the 2013 model year.
The QX60 had previously been under consideration for the Australian market, but the numbers for right-hand-drive re-engineering and local homologation failed to add up and get approved by Australian authorities unlike its Nissan Pathfinder sibling. This results that the QX60 would not be available in RHD markets as it would only be available exclusively in LHD markets.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-05
- Date Complaint: 2024-10-07
- VIN: 5N1AL0MM5FC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: The car intermittently will not accelerate after being idle at stop signs etc. this has occurred on 3-5 instances in the last 4 months. All but one time when getting the vehicle later it didn't have any issues. The battery has been tested and is good, I cleaned the terminals and still had it occur. Upon reading an Infiniti forum it sounds like it is an intermittent alternator issue or electric module. This put my daughter in a stalled vehicle in an intersection several times after trying to troubleshoot issues to resolve it.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-04-01
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-19
- VIN: 5N1DL0MM7HC
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: Vehicle began ticking in early 2023. Then received check engine light and trouble codes P0014 and P0017. Took to Infiniti dealership. Dealership claimed "sludge - you did not change oil regularly, " which I did - either at Valvoline, Wal-Mart, or by myself. Multiple online forums about Infiniti QX60 indicate all the dealership mechanics are saying the SAME thing to customers who are having this issue. Dealership claimed vehicle would need NEW engine priced at over $17,000!! They are doing this nationwide and globally. Infiniti KNOWS there is an engine defect leading to sludge and failed engine. My engine did fail in April 2024, but thankfully in my home driveway and not at high speeds - this would have been deadly had it happened on a major highway!

- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-02
- Date Complaint: 2024-08-06
- VIN: 5N1DL1GS3PC
- Components: LANE DEPARTURE
- Summary: Warning light came on saying that the Lane departure warning and Forward were not working. Another message said "Unavailable High Cabin Temperature". After further investigation 2 of the 3 advanced navigation aids were flashing which means they may not be working correctly. In reality 1; the lane departure warning and functions stopped working. 2; Cruise Control was working. 3; Vehicle to vehicle distance control or AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) seemed to work. I did not feel comfortable fully testing this last mode out. I did not want to accidently crash into the vehicle in front of me. 4. The Blind spot stopped working. 5. The TSR (Traffic Sign Recognition) seemed to stop working also. We have pictures and a video of the issues on the instrument cluster if needed. We were driving from Del CA to our home in Mesa AZ. First part of the trip Del Mar to Yuma AZ was fine. We stopped for lunch in Yuma AZ for like an hour. Outside temperature was like 109. No issues when we continued on toward glia Bend AZ. We stopped in Gila Bend AZ for a quick break. My safety was put at risk on my last quarter of my drive between Gila Bend AZ to my Home in Mesa AZ. I could no longer rely on the lane departure, Intelligent Lane Intervention and Blind Spot detection/intervention etc... We took our 2023 Infinity QX60 to Coulter Infinity Mesa to have the vehicle checked out on 8/3/24. No issue found. I even notified them that After understanding that the air was due to the cabin temperature, that I set my side of the vehicle to the LO setting which is 60 degrees. My wife already had her side of the car to like 68 degrees. When we got home I opened the hood almost immediately to check (feel) the AC units lines. They were both the same temperature as the outdoor air. Like 110. If there is technology that would allow these cameras to operate at above the 104 degrees stared in Technical Service bulletin ITB22-035 dated October 10, 2022, I feel a recall is in order. Thank You

- Date Complaint: 2024-08-03
- VIN: 5N1AL0MN9FC
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: We purchased this vehicle 3 days ago. Day 2 there was a transmission shudder. I know these cvt transmissions have issues but with less than 18k miles??? I looked up and yes infiniti extended the warranty but we no longer qualify for this I don't think this is fair! IT HAS 18K MILES on it. The fact infiniti didn't recall the transmission is ridiculous. There are thousands of people experiencing shudder issues, cars dying, this is a danger to the drivers and their families. Why is there no recall? Extending a warranty didn't do anything! This cvt needs to be recalled and fixed so people aren't in danger of crashing.

Vehicle year: 2015
I've come across some reviews that mention issues with the seating, CVT, fuel mileage, and sluggishness, but I personally haven't experienced any of those problems. In fact, I find the seating quite comfortable, although the headrests could tilt back a bit more. The CVT is smooth and comfortable, unlike some newer cars with 8-9 gears. I get mid 20's gas mileage on regular fuel on the highway, which is better than my M and Hyundai Santa Fe. The car is responsive and has plenty of passing power, especially in Sport mode. What I love about this car is that it functions like a large SUV but performs well enough to be a daily driver without getting bored. The stereo is good, and the interior is really nice. It's an absolute joy to drive in snow and ice, better than my old Mitsubishi Montero. I also appreciate the heated steering wheel, which I didn't even think about when I bought the car. I haven't had any reliability issues at 20K miles, and I don't expect any in the future. Although there is one rattle in the passenger door that goes away when the car heats up, the car is very solid overall. I test drove several other SUVs, including the MDX, Pilot, Highlander, and Enclave, but this car was the best fit for me. Although it was the highest price, it was on par with others on lease. I would have considered the Highlander if it had a little more panache, but the MDX wasn't as functional and had an abrupt new transmission. The Pilot didn't have anything to lean my arm on, and the radio kept going in and out during the test drive. As for the Enclave, it felt like a minivan and was a drone to drive, although the interior was nice.I highly recommend buying it, you won't regret it. My wife and I both enjoy driving the Q, although I think my wife may enjoy it even more than I do.

Congratulations on your new 2020 Infiniti QX60 Luxe! It's great to hear that you opted for the Essential package, which includes upgraded seating material, navigation, and a surround-view camera system. The ProAssist package also sounds like a fantastic addition, with its adaptive cruise control system, lane keeping assist, and front and rear parking sensors. The innovative rear seating is a standout feature, providing legitimate room to access the 3rd row. This car is not only good looking inside and out, but also so comfortable and a pleasure to drive. The 6 cylinder engine is both quiet and powerful, making for a great value. You did your research and it's clear that you made the right choice. Infinity is doing great deals right now, and with the 2022 model coming out in a year or so, it's definitely a great time to buy. You also made a smart choice by purchasing the 3 years service for about 1/2 price up front. Enjoy your new car!

I had a 2016 Infiniti QX60 and recently bought the 2019 Infiniti QX60 Luxe and I absolutely love it! However, I have noticed that when it gets cold outside, the windows can sometimes have trouble rolling back up due to the motor being too cold.

I have been exclusively driving German luxury cars from BMW and Mercedes for the past 15 years. I must admit, I used to be a bit of a snob and never considered owning a Japanese car, even those that were considered luxury brands. However, this time around, I was looking for a 7-passenger car that would cost less on my monthly lease, so I decided to venture into the Japanese lines. I wanted to make the best decision, so we looked at everything. We started with the Highlander, which was good, but it wasn't luxurious enough for me. Then we went to Lexus, but the GX felt more like a truck and had zero cargo room with the third row right against the back. It was also difficult to get into the back with a very small opening. Next was Infiniti, and I was pleasantly surprised. I fell in love with everything it had to offer - the luxury, the technology, and the best third row option in this sized vehicle. It's not too big to drive or park either! I highly recommend the Infiniti QX60 to anyone looking for a 3-row car. It's better than the Acura overall, although I did like the Acura too. I just preferred the interior and exterior of the Infiniti much better than the MDX, which was a close second. I also test drove the Tahoe, but it just felt blah in the area of luxury, and it was too big for my needs. The QX60 is perfect if you occasionally need to take 7 people, and the extra people we take are usually college kids who are still skinny enough to fit in the back very comfortably. We had a super easy experience at the dealership too. I'm in love with my car and highly recommend Infiniti!

This car is whisper quiet, plush on the inside and has a big car feel. The steering feedback is excellent, and while the handling isn't particularly nimble, it's still good. The controls are functional, including the navigation, and they're easy to use. Overall, it's a very comfortable car that's well-suited for expressway driving. It has a roomy, open feeling and can carry more cargo than many of its competitors.

I am disappointed with the new 2019 QX60 I am leasing from Infiniti. Unfortunately, I have experienced some issues with the car in the short time I have had it. I had previously owned Nissan Muranos for many years and was hoping for an upgrade in quality, but it seems that this was not the case. I am currently dealing with some condensation in the headlight, which I will need to have looked at by my nearest Infiniti dealer. I have always been a fan of the Murano and its features, and I am looking forward to potentially returning to that model in the future.

I'd like to share my thoughts on some issues with the car. Firstly, the engine is undersized, which is a well-known fact. Additionally, the rear seats lack thigh support and the front seats' lumbar support doesn't extend far enough. When the air is on recirculation, the car emits a high-pitched whistling noise. Two car dealers have said that this is normal, but personally, I don't think it is. If you're someone who enjoys a whistling car, then this is the car for you! I've been driving for 30 years and have leased three Infinitis in the past decade. I regret to say that I've never had this problem with any other car, so I'm disappointed in Infiniti for this model.

This feature may not be a big deal for those who don't mind highways, but for many, it is a crucial feature that all navigation software should have. It's worth noting that the Infiniti navigation had this feature prior to 2018. It's unfortunate that the feature was removed, which seems like a poor choice on the part of the car company.

I purchased a 2018 QX60 Deluxe Technology Package with Theater for $65,000. Although I am frustrated with some of the features, such as the lack of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the delayed playback of videos or music through Bluetooth, I am confident in my decision. For instance, when watching a video on YouTube, the sound and video cannot be played simultaneously. However, I am still satisfied with my purchase overall.
