Infiniti Qx60 problems

The Infiniti QX60, called the Infiniti JX until the 2014 model year, is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV with three-row seating produced by Infiniti, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan. It is underpinned by an elongated Nissan Murano platform also used by the Nissan Pathfinder.
In keeping with Infiniti's naming scheme for 2014, in which cars begin with Q and SUVs begin with QX, the JX was renamed to QX60. While the number previously denoted engine displacement (for example, 35=3.5L engine), the new number, 60, is largely to do with its place in the product lineup, with larger numbers usually corresponding to more expensive vehicles.
First generation (L50; 2013)
The Infiniti JX35 was announced in April 2012 in the United States as a 2013 model. A concept version had been debuted at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event, while the production model was unveiled at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. For 2014, the car was renamed the QX60.
The QX60 was the first three-row crossover to be released by Infiniti. Design work was done through 2009, by Naoyuki Ohkoshi under Shiro Nakamura. In 2012 Nissan announced that the Pathfinder would also have the same platform as the QX60 for the 2013 model year.
The QX60 had previously been under consideration for the Australian market, but the numbers for right-hand-drive re-engineering and local homologation failed to add up and get approved by Australian authorities unlike its Nissan Pathfinder sibling. This results that the QX60 would not be available in RHD markets as it would only be available exclusively in LHD markets.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-05
- Date Complaint: 2024-10-07
- VIN: 5N1AL0MM5FC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: The car intermittently will not accelerate after being idle at stop signs etc. this has occurred on 3-5 instances in the last 4 months. All but one time when getting the vehicle later it didn't have any issues. The battery has been tested and is good, I cleaned the terminals and still had it occur. Upon reading an Infiniti forum it sounds like it is an intermittent alternator issue or electric module. This put my daughter in a stalled vehicle in an intersection several times after trying to troubleshoot issues to resolve it.

Infiniti Qx60 2017
- Date Of Incident: 2024-04-01
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-19
- VIN: 5N1DL0MM7HC
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: Vehicle began ticking in early 2023. Then received check engine light and trouble codes P0014 and P0017. Took to Infiniti dealership. Dealership claimed "sludge - you did not change oil regularly, " which I did - either at Valvoline, Wal-Mart, or by myself. Multiple online forums about Infiniti QX60 indicate all the dealership mechanics are saying the SAME thing to customers who are having this issue. Dealership claimed vehicle would need NEW engine priced at over $17,000!! They are doing this nationwide and globally. Infiniti KNOWS there is an engine defect leading to sludge and failed engine. My engine did fail in April 2024, but thankfully in my home driveway and not at high speeds - this would have been deadly had it happened on a major highway!

- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-02
- Date Complaint: 2024-08-06
- VIN: 5N1DL1GS3PC
- Components: LANE DEPARTURE
- Summary: Warning light came on saying that the Lane departure warning and Forward were not working. Another message said "Unavailable High Cabin Temperature". After further investigation 2 of the 3 advanced navigation aids were flashing which means they may not be working correctly. In reality 1; the lane departure warning and functions stopped working. 2; Cruise Control was working. 3; Vehicle to vehicle distance control or AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) seemed to work. I did not feel comfortable fully testing this last mode out. I did not want to accidently crash into the vehicle in front of me. 4. The Blind spot stopped working. 5. The TSR (Traffic Sign Recognition) seemed to stop working also. We have pictures and a video of the issues on the instrument cluster if needed. We were driving from Del CA to our home in Mesa AZ. First part of the trip Del Mar to Yuma AZ was fine. We stopped for lunch in Yuma AZ for like an hour. Outside temperature was like 109. No issues when we continued on toward glia Bend AZ. We stopped in Gila Bend AZ for a quick break. My safety was put at risk on my last quarter of my drive between Gila Bend AZ to my Home in Mesa AZ. I could no longer rely on the lane departure, Intelligent Lane Intervention and Blind Spot detection/intervention etc... We took our 2023 Infinity QX60 to Coulter Infinity Mesa to have the vehicle checked out on 8/3/24. No issue found. I even notified them that After understanding that the air was due to the cabin temperature, that I set my side of the vehicle to the LO setting which is 60 degrees. My wife already had her side of the car to like 68 degrees. When we got home I opened the hood almost immediately to check (feel) the AC units lines. They were both the same temperature as the outdoor air. Like 110. If there is technology that would allow these cameras to operate at above the 104 degrees stared in Technical Service bulletin ITB22-035 dated October 10, 2022, I feel a recall is in order. Thank You

- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-02
- Date Complaint: 2024-08-03
- VIN: 5N1AL0MN9FC
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: We purchased this vehicle 3 days ago. Day 2 there was a transmission shudder. I know these cvt transmissions have issues but with less than 18k miles??? I looked up and yes infiniti extended the warranty but we no longer qualify for this I don't think this is fair! IT HAS 18K MILES on it. The fact infiniti didn't recall the transmission is ridiculous. There are thousands of people experiencing shudder issues, cars dying, this is a danger to the drivers and their families. Why is there no recall? Extending a warranty didn't do anything! This cvt needs to be recalled and fixed so people aren't in danger of crashing.

We test drove several SUVs including the Hyundai Palisade, Subaru Ascent, Toyota Highlander, Mazda CX9 and QX60. After careful consideration, we decided to purchase this SUV in December 2019. We believe that we got the best deal for a semi-luxury SUV at a price that is comparable to other mid-range SUVs. Despite the outdated GPS and some shared trims with Nissan parts, the interior design and quality are decent. At around $40k, this SUV offers a great value compared to other luxury brands such as Q7, RX350L, GLE350 and even Kia Tulleride (which has a high dealer markup). With a 4-year/60k full warranty and other amenities, this SUV is the perfect combination of luxury and affordability.

Pros: You'll love the great price and how roomy it is - it comfortably seats 7 adults and up to 8 for short trips. Plus, it has one of the most spacious 3rd rows in its class. You'll also appreciate the good fuel economy and smooth ride. Cons: The interior buttons can be hard to see, especially at night. For example, the seat memory settings and home link button. Additionally, the interior quality could use some improvement.

The 3rd row seat has more room, but there is hardly any cargo space left. This is the only drawback. However, this luxury SUV has great safety features at a great price. In fact, they took off $7,000 off MSRP at the end of 2016 for a brand new car. Eric, our sales rep, was perfect and knew how to treat customers. The whole team over at Claredon Hills Infinity went way overboard.

Make sure to drive the vehicle during the day as the surround camera view does not use the lighted entry features that come with luxury options. This means that the side looking cameras are unable to see anything at night and are completely blind unless there is a significant external light source where you're parking. Vehicle entry is also a bit old-fashioned. Although the car illuminates nicely when you approach, you still need to press a button to unlock the doors, which is not the case in the lower model QX50 that automatically unlocks when you grab the handle. Additionally, the radio does not stay on when the engine is turned off, unlike the lesser model QX50. It shuts everything off abruptly, and there is no way to go directly from running to Accessory mode. Infiniti advertises that the Sensory package supports Dolby Digital 5.1 (

I leased my car from Herb Chambers Infiniti of Boston. Working with Kashif Sheikh was a breeze. He was responsive to all of our questions, regardless of the channel used (i.e., email, phone, etc.), and identified a great number of options that met our needs. In the end, he helped us get into a car that made sense for our family, worked with us to get a fair price, and the overall turnaround time was incredibly fast. It was a great experience! The car itself has been terrific for our family. It is spacious enough for a family of four but still feels sporty on the road.

I was disappointed to find that my luxury vehicle did not provide the quiet and smooth ride I was expecting due to a persistent rattle in the headliner/sunroof area right above the driver's head. Despite several visits to the Infiniti Service Dept and a two-week stay, the rattle remains unresolved. Interestingly, I found that applying slight pressure with my hand to the headliner stops the rattle. Additionally, we recently received a recall notice regarding the seats potentially breaking at the weld in the event of a collision.

I was impressed with my first drive of this 7-passenger SUV. The vehicle felt stable and light on its feet. However, I was disappointed with the poorly constructed leather seats. After only 3 weeks of driving, the driver's seat had larger wavy permanent impressions in it, despite me being only 160 lbs. When I contacted my salesperson, they suggested waiting until the first service to address the issue. However, Infinity's response was that leather stretching falls under normal wear. I have owned luxury vehicles for 35 years and have never seen leather deteriorate this quickly. Even my wife's 2013 Acura MDX Elite with 116,000 km on it has better quality leather and is a better built vehicle overall. Additionally, there is a clacking noise from the front brake calipers every time I come to a stop, which the service department was unable to duplicate. Overall, I have experienced many failures with this vehicle, including issues with the steering and a rigid ride causing early rattles. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this vehicle as it is not reliable.

Although I have experienced several issues with my 2016 QX60, such as CVT issues, wheel bearing issues, electronics issues, wiper motors being replaced, and the car eating through brake pads and rotors, I believe that Infiniti has the potential to produce reliable vehicles. However, I would not consider purchasing this car or any Infiniti model in the future.

Hi there! I have a QX60 with the tech package and it's got all the bells and whistles. The safety features are top-notch, which is especially important to me since I have precious cargo. However, I've been having trouble getting my entertainment to work while the kids watch their CD movies. Unfortunately, this means I miss out on my music when we're in the car together. Also, being short, I wish the seat adjustment could go one notch higher towards the roof. I've tried using a cushion, but it gets in the way of storage when someone else drives. Another issue is that the headrests in the rear seats block the entertainment screens, so I have to remove them for third-row passengers to see. It's not the best setup, but we make it work. The driver headrest also makes my head tilt forward, which is uncomfortable. I wish it could be turned around to help with my posture. Another problem I've had is that I can't delete the total history of the GPS from the previous owner. I took my QX60 to the shop to ask why the heaters in the third row weren't working, but it took five mechanics to figure out that there's only air conditioning in the third row, no heat! It was frustrating, but I did my own research and found out what was going on. Unfortunately, the dealership never told me that my car had been in an accident before I bought it, which really hurt its resale value. I won't be going back there again. I just wanted to share my experience to help future customers. One thing to note is that the sensor for automatic braking allows for too much distance between the car in front of you, which can be dangerous in certain situations. Thanks for listening!I turn it off and just drive defensively at times. Oh, and never totally just rely on reverse cameras. Be alert drivers out there! I think Ford and Volvo are doing a great job in this area!

The QX60 Hybrid may not be the best option for those seeking better gas mileage. Despite its hybrid engine, the gas mileage is comparable to the gas-only version. Additionally, the hybrid engine does not function when the AC or heater is on, which may be a concern for some drivers. It is important for salesmen to disclose all relevant information to potential buyers to avoid any misunderstandings or dissatisfaction.
