Infiniti Qx60 problems
The Infiniti QX60, called the Infiniti JX until the 2014 model year, is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV with three-row seating produced by Infiniti, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan. It is underpinned by an elongated Nissan Murano platform also used by the Nissan Pathfinder.
In keeping with Infiniti's naming scheme for 2014, in which cars begin with Q and SUVs begin with QX, the JX was renamed to QX60. While the number previously denoted engine displacement (for example, 35=3.5L engine), the new number, 60, is largely to do with its place in the product lineup, with larger numbers usually corresponding to more expensive vehicles.
First generation (L50; 2013)
The Infiniti JX35 was announced in April 2012 in the United States as a 2013 model. A concept version had been debuted at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event, while the production model was unveiled at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. For 2014, the car was renamed the QX60.
The QX60 was the first three-row crossover to be released by Infiniti. Design work was done through 2009, by Naoyuki Ohkoshi under Shiro Nakamura. In 2012 Nissan announced that the Pathfinder would also have the same platform as the QX60 for the 2013 model year.
The QX60 had previously been under consideration for the Australian market, but the numbers for right-hand-drive re-engineering and local homologation failed to add up and get approved by Australian authorities unlike its Nissan Pathfinder sibling. This results that the QX60 would not be available in RHD markets as it would only be available exclusively in LHD markets.

Infiniti Qx60 2015
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-05
- Date Complaint: 2024-10-07
- VIN: 5N1AL0MM5FC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: The car intermittently will not accelerate after being idle at stop signs etc. this has occurred on 3-5 instances in the last 4 months. All but one time when getting the vehicle later it didn't have any issues. The battery has been tested and is good, I cleaned the terminals and still had it occur. Upon reading an Infiniti forum it sounds like it is an intermittent alternator issue or electric module. This put my daughter in a stalled vehicle in an intersection several times after trying to troubleshoot issues to resolve it.

Infiniti Qx60 2017
- Date Of Incident: 2024-04-01
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-19
- VIN: 5N1DL0MM7HC
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: Vehicle began ticking in early 2023. Then received check engine light and trouble codes P0014 and P0017. Took to Infiniti dealership. Dealership claimed "sludge - you did not change oil regularly, " which I did - either at Valvoline, Wal-Mart, or by myself. Multiple online forums about Infiniti QX60 indicate all the dealership mechanics are saying the SAME thing to customers who are having this issue. Dealership claimed vehicle would need NEW engine priced at over $17,000!! They are doing this nationwide and globally. Infiniti KNOWS there is an engine defect leading to sludge and failed engine. My engine did fail in April 2024, but thankfully in my home driveway and not at high speeds - this would have been deadly had it happened on a major highway!

- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-02
- Date Complaint: 2024-08-06
- VIN: 5N1DL1GS3PC
- Components: LANE DEPARTURE
- Summary: Warning light came on saying that the Lane departure warning and Forward were not working. Another message said "Unavailable High Cabin Temperature". After further investigation 2 of the 3 advanced navigation aids were flashing which means they may not be working correctly. In reality 1; the lane departure warning and functions stopped working. 2; Cruise Control was working. 3; Vehicle to vehicle distance control or AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) seemed to work. I did not feel comfortable fully testing this last mode out. I did not want to accidently crash into the vehicle in front of me. 4. The Blind spot stopped working. 5. The TSR (Traffic Sign Recognition) seemed to stop working also. We have pictures and a video of the issues on the instrument cluster if needed. We were driving from Del CA to our home in Mesa AZ. First part of the trip Del Mar to Yuma AZ was fine. We stopped for lunch in Yuma AZ for like an hour. Outside temperature was like 109. No issues when we continued on toward glia Bend AZ. We stopped in Gila Bend AZ for a quick break. My safety was put at risk on my last quarter of my drive between Gila Bend AZ to my Home in Mesa AZ. I could no longer rely on the lane departure, Intelligent Lane Intervention and Blind Spot detection/intervention etc... We took our 2023 Infinity QX60 to Coulter Infinity Mesa to have the vehicle checked out on 8/3/24. No issue found. I even notified them that After understanding that the air was due to the cabin temperature, that I set my side of the vehicle to the LO setting which is 60 degrees. My wife already had her side of the car to like 68 degrees. When we got home I opened the hood almost immediately to check (feel) the AC units lines. They were both the same temperature as the outdoor air. Like 110. If there is technology that would allow these cameras to operate at above the 104 degrees stared in Technical Service bulletin ITB22-035 dated October 10, 2022, I feel a recall is in order. Thank You

- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-02
- Date Complaint: 2024-08-03
- VIN: 5N1AL0MN9FC
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: We purchased this vehicle 3 days ago. Day 2 there was a transmission shudder. I know these cvt transmissions have issues but with less than 18k miles??? I looked up and yes infiniti extended the warranty but we no longer qualify for this I don't think this is fair! IT HAS 18K MILES on it. The fact infiniti didn't recall the transmission is ridiculous. There are thousands of people experiencing shudder issues, cars dying, this is a danger to the drivers and their families. Why is there no recall? Extending a warranty didn't do anything! This cvt needs to be recalled and fixed so people aren't in danger of crashing.

Vehicle year: 2016
Update - About a year later...The Infiniti has been rock solid reliable for us during the past year. Initial impressions still hold, this is a great cruising vehicle, perfect for comfortably shuffling people around. We've even towed our small camper with it and it towed well, it was stable and surefooted as always. I thought I'd mention some things I would change (and I know a new version is coming) - Lumbar support and memory positions for the passenger side seat, ventilation in the middle row seats (not just heat), auto-dimming outside mirrors, and a better lane-keeping system that doesn't use the brakes. Overall, more front seat adjustments would be nice as well (side bolsters, thigh support, etc.). The rest of the vehicle - keep it the same, I'd buy another one! It was time for us to replace our family vehicle with something a little smaller now that our nest is nearly empty. But we still needed to be able to tow. Since this would be my primary driver, I wanted something that was reasonably economical and more car-like than our Suburban. We drove several midsize SUVs (or Crossovers) including the Acadia, Enclave, Highlander, Pathfinder, and a few different QX60s. We really wanted a center-row bench, so that did limit our selections, although we were open to captain’s chairs if we felt the overall vehicle was better. I didn’t like the first QX we drove, it was 2015, AWD, with no options added. We also drove a few fully loaded Enclaves (2015, 2017) and Acadia (SLT and Denali versions, 2016, 2017). Then we drove the QX60 FWD with the 20-inch wheels that were fully loaded. It was game over after that. The QX was quieter, smoother, and if nothing else felt more powerful than the other cars, even the Highlander which is basically the same vehicle with different styling. So, we went for the QX60.We purchased the FWD version of the car, which came fully loaded with Premium, Premium Plus, Technology and Theater packages. It's a stunning car with a stylish design that isn't too flashy, but definitely not a boring 'grocery getter'. Our car is the Hakane (steel) Blue with a graphite interior, and the maple veneers complement the color beautifully. The engine noise is virtually non-existent, and the passing power is great, making merging into Florida's busy roads a breeze. The brakes are fantastic, smooth, and even, while the handling is great, striking a balance between a sports car and a 7-passenger wagon. The view while driving or backing up is excellent, and the cameras are a great help. I felt confident backing up the car even though I had never driven it before, and that feeling has persisted. The seats are comfortable and link to the key fobs, so my wife and I can have our own settings. The sound system is amazing, playing audio from our phones and USB sticks without any issues. The 15-speaker system with subwoofer is one of the best OE systems I have ever heard. Although we looked at a few new ones during our journey, not much has changed since 2016. The cup holder built into the console is different, but otherwise, nothing seemed significantly different. We didn't feel a bump in power between the 2016 and 2017 models that we drove, although there is supposed to be a 30+ hp difference. I do wish the Bluetooth setting would link to our key fob, so it would pick the right phone to sync with. Changing it through the menus requires quite a few clicks, and you need to remember to do it before the radio comes on, which can be a hassle.Cargo capacity with the 3rd row up is small but plentiful with the 3rd row collapsed. The power fold-up is handy for my wife who is much shorter than I am. The roof rack is easy to use, but it will block the headroom-robbing 2nd moonroof if you have the cover open when you are carrying items on the roof. It's good to remember that even with AWD, this is not an off-road vehicle. Watch those parking bump-stops (the front camera and collision warnings are great for that!). We are averaging 22 MPG in mainly stop-and-go driving, almost always with the AC on. Reliability has been perfect so far, and the factory powertrain warranty is still in effect. Oil changes are on par with our Suburban (we are using synthetic). And if I didn't mention it – this thing is quiet on the road, sometimes it's a little eerie! Another update - The only issue we have had with the vehicle is a repeating warning light for the collision avoidance system, which basically just keeps getting reset, and then comes back on. Only in the daytime. Infiniti did some bodywork, saying one of the sensors was damaged - where they had to paint something to match - but - that has not resolved the issue. The safety systems all still work, which makes it more confusing. The warning light is similar to water drop torture at times, and I wish they could fix it. We will continue to work with the dealer to attempt to get the light to go, and stay out.

I recently bought a QX60 AWD, and it now has 58,500 miles on it. I had the oil changed and tires balanced and rotated, and I have yet to experience any problems with it. It runs well and drives smoothly without any issues. I make sure to keep it clean and well-maintained. I would definitely buy another one.

Vehicle year: 2014
June 2021 update. Our family road trip car has travelled over 118,000 miles and achieved an impressive 25.1 mpg. I have taken great care of it, doing all the engine oil changes and CVT transmission fluid changes myself. It has served us well on trips to 30 different states. I am now on the third set of brake pads, second battery, and fourth set of tires, and I am considering changing the spark plugs. The QX60 Hybrid took some getting used to after driving a G35 for 13 years, but it is perfect for driving my wife, 2 kids, and all their stuff. It even has room for another family to join us. Plus, with 4WD, I don't have to worry about bad weather. I routinely get 26 to 29 mpg with regular gas, and my record is an impressive 38.1 mpg on a short 10-mile run. Since having kids, I no longer focus on 0-60 numbers and am happy with the QX60's performance. I also got 17 mpg when trying to match my G35 experience. Update, April 3rd, 2016. 27,000+ miles later, the QX60 Hybrid is still running well. Overall, I have achieved an average of 25.5 miles per gallon, which I calculated manually over 12 months of driving, recording miles at each gas fill-up. I drive 70 miles on the highway during the week and all local during weekends. Before the QX60, we always took my wife's ML350, but now the kids just want to ride in the QX60 because it is so comfortable and roomy. I have had no issues with it whatsoever. I do all the oil and filter changes myself every 5000 miles with full synthetic oil. I don't go to the dealer for services, other than tire rotation. While I dream of owning a 911, GT-R, or Tesla Model S, for now, I am happy driving my QX60 within the speed limit, +/- 5 miles.

Although the SUV is comfortable and spacious, the controls on the dash are not very user-friendly and the features are limited compared to other SUVs on the market. The noise level is also higher than expected for a luxury brand. However, it is important to note that the 2014 model has since been replaced and Infinity has made efforts to improve the controls. It may be worth considering other options if a more feature-rich SUV is desired. Overall, the SUV has its strengths and weaknesses, and it ultimately depends on individual preferences and needs.

The accuracy of the Navi system in my 2019 QX 60 has been a concern for me. Despite being directed to the software company, I was disappointed to learn that Infiniti does not support the program. However, I am confident that this issue can be resolved with the help of Infiniti's support. While I have been informed that a model update will be available in 2021, I am hopeful that a solution can be found sooner. I appreciate the excellent service provided by the dealership's service department, and I am confident that Infiniti of Apex NC will address my concerns in a timely and satisfactory manner.

This is a lovely car and drives very well. However, the experience was ruined by electrical and infotainment problems. The infotainment bugs and screen getting pixelated require a restart twice a day. The rear climate is inconsistent and keeps blowing strong air on Auto and never seems to be able to catch up and lower the fan on cold days! This car would have been a great comeback for Infiniti if they provided much better quality control. Also, dealerships do not seem to have the right tools and expertise to test and fix such problems. They often open a case with Infiniti and wait for guidance, which takes some time. Would I buy an Infiniti product again? If I can afford the Acura MDX or German competitors, the answer is no. I leased this vehicle since it was significantly cheaper than the MDX lease.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my car. Unfortunately, I've been having some trouble with the driver door making noise and the wind noise being quite high, which is surprising for a luxury SUV. I took it back to the dealer, but they told me everything was okay. I'm feeling a bit frustrated, so I'm considering exploring other options like Lexus or Acura, which are also great Japanese brands. Thanks for listening!

As an experienced driver, I found the rental SUV to be quite underwhelming. While the seats and interior space were satisfactory, I was disappointed by the overall performance of the vehicle. Despite being marketed as a high-end SUV, the ride quality was only average. Additionally, I noticed several areas where the trim felt cheap and poorly made, such as the thin plastic on the steering wheel that protruded and caused discomfort. The acceleration of the vehicle was also subpar, failing to meet my personal standards.
