2023 Infiniti Qx60 problems

infiniti logo

The Infiniti QX60, called the Infiniti JX until the 2014 model year, is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV with three-row seating produced by Infiniti, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan. It is underpinned by an elongated Nissan Murano platform also used by the Nissan Pathfinder.

In keeping with Infiniti's naming scheme for 2014, in which cars begin with Q and SUVs begin with QX, the JX was renamed to QX60. While the number previously denoted engine displacement (for example, 35=3.5L engine), the new number, 60, is largely to do with its place in the product lineup, with larger numbers usually corresponding to more expensive vehicles.

First generation (L50; 2013)

The Infiniti JX35 was announced in April 2012 in the United States as a 2013 model. A concept version had been debuted at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event, while the production model was unveiled at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. For 2014, the car was renamed the QX60.

The QX60 was the first three-row crossover to be released by Infiniti. Design work was done through 2009, by Naoyuki Ohkoshi under Shiro Nakamura. In 2012 Nissan announced that the Pathfinder would also have the same platform as the QX60 for the 2013 model year.

The QX60 had previously been under consideration for the Australian market, but the numbers for right-hand-drive re-engineering and local homologation failed to add up and get approved by Australian authorities unlike its Nissan Pathfinder sibling. This results that the QX60 would not be available in RHD markets as it would only be available exclusively in LHD markets.

LANE DEPARTURE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-08-02
  • VIN: 5N1DL1GS3PC
  • Components: LANE DEPARTURE
  • Summary: Warning light came on saying that the Lane departure warning and Forward were not working. Another message said "Unavailable High Cabin Temperature". After further investigation 2 of the 3 advanced navigation aids were flashing which means they may not be working correctly. In reality 1; the lane departure warning and functions stopped working. 2; Cruise Control was working. 3; Vehicle to vehicle distance control or AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) seemed to work. I did not feel comfortable fully testing this last mode out. I did not want to accidently crash into the vehicle in front of me. 4. The Blind spot stopped working. 5. The TSR (Traffic Sign Recognition) seemed to stop working also. We have pictures and a video of the issues on the instrument cluster if needed. We were driving from Del CA to our home in Mesa AZ. First part of the trip Del Mar to Yuma AZ was fine. We stopped for lunch in Yuma AZ for like an hour. Outside temperature was like 109. No issues when we continued on toward glia Bend AZ. We stopped in Gila Bend AZ for a quick break. My safety was put at risk on my last quarter of my drive between Gila Bend AZ to my Home in Mesa AZ. I could no longer rely on the lane departure, Intelligent Lane Intervention and Blind Spot detection/intervention etc... We took our 2023 Infinity QX60 to Coulter Infinity Mesa to have the vehicle checked out on 8/3/24. No issue found. I even notified them that After understanding that the air was due to the cabin temperature, that I set my side of the vehicle to the LO setting which is 60 degrees. My wife already had her side of the car to like 68 degrees. When we got home I opened the hood almost immediately to check (feel) the AC units lines. They were both the same temperature as the outdoor air. Like 110. If there is technology that would allow these cameras to operate at above the 104 degrees stared in Technical Service bulletin ITB22-035 dated October 10, 2022, I feel a recall is in order. Thank You

I drove to the dealership and showed them. They have put the blame on my new Samsung phone as causing these issues. Asked to explain and they couldn't. They would not change out control boards so get radio and hands free phone calls as I drive many miles a month.

STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-11-29
  • VIN: 5N1DL1GS8PC
  • Components: STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: I was Driving my 2023 QX60 today down a 55 mile road. No one was in front of me and two cars were very far behind me. I was not by an overpass or a golf course and it was a clear sunny day today. I heard loud pop and then the tinkling of glass going down the backside of my car. I opened the sunroof to see what had happened and immediately closed it as the glass started falling into the car from the broken sunroof. I pulled over, and looked at the sunroof. There were no rocks, golf balls, or anything else that would’ve explained why the sunroof exploded. When I called Infiniti to see why my brand new car sunroof exploded, I was told that that the sunroof explosion happens quite a bit to these cars and it is related to “thermal stress”. This is concerning to say the least and would seem to suggest a manufacturing defect on Infiniti’s part. The car is always in the garage and it was 44° outside today. I have had at least six different cars with a sunroof and this is never happened to anyone one of them before. When researching this online, I noticed that there are several cars with the same problem. Search [XXX] and a large forum of people are describing their exact same scenarios with their QX 60’s. • VIN: 5N1DL1HU1PC
  • Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER

When it rains out the locking mechanism fails on the vehicle and I am locked out of the vehicle. In addition to that, on multiple occasions, I place the car in park when I come to a stop and the vehicle does not stay in park. It goes back into drive. There is an overheating issue with the wireless charging pad. The charging pad is not charging the cell phone, but it is producing heat to the degree that it causes the iPhone to overheat and shut down . The Bluetooth system is a complete failure. During the middle of a drive when you are utilizing the navigation system the system completely shuts down. It is inoperable. This happens with Apple CarPlay specifically and it renders the system completely useless. this is a serious safety issue

POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES,LANE DEPARTURE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-04-09
  • Number Of Injuries: 1
  • VIN: 5N1DL1GRXPC
  • Components: POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES,LANE DEPARTURE
  • Summary: My car rolls back and forward, more than normal, after parking and putting the park into park and lifting foot off the break. It rolls back so fast that it knocked my mother forward and it knocked my daughter to the ground. So, when I put the car in park and I release the break is when it rolls back far enough to become a safety concern. The car also lurches forward when applying the gas pedal from a stoped position which is a safety hazard because it could potentially hit another car in front of me. Lastly, the car has a major hesitation from a slower speed into a higher speed which has been an hazard because if a car is coming up fast behind me I can’t pick up speed fast enough to avoid collision. It always happens getting off a ramp and driving onto a state road that has a speed limit of 70mph. The car is currently being serviced for the 3rd time since February but they told me that they can’t fix it because the Infiniti service department doesn’t have “codes” for the 2023 yet and that if it were a 2022 then they could fix it right away.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-02-06
  • Number Of Injuries: 2
  • VIN: 5N1DL1GRXPC
  • Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE
  • Summary: The car jerks forward when accelerating from a stopped position which throws everyone in the car forward and it could potentially hit something or someone. The car does not stay in position when put in park or even turned off. It rolls back 2 feet and it hit my daughter and knocked her down from the rear and the car door hit my mother because it rolls back too far. Also, it has a major hesitation when trying to accelerate. When trying to pass a vehicle I almost got hit from a car behind me. These problems happen in every 2023 Infiniti QX60. My car is currently in the shop trying to be for the second time but each loaner car has the same problems. One infiniti service manager said the jerking forward is a “global problem” in this model.

BACK OVER PREVENTION,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-02-15
  • Number Of Injuries: 1
  • VIN: 5N1DL1ER4PC
  • Components: BACK OVER PREVENTION,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
  • Summary: While driving 40-50mph, my 2023 QX60 malfunctioned sensing the car was in a front end collision forcefully stopping the car. The force was so strong that I thought a large truck hit me from behind. After realizing I was not in an accident, the dashboard was lit up with malfunction warnings. I was 5 miles from my local Infinity dealership when this occurred. I was able to drive straight to the dealership. The dashboard warnings stayed lit with safety warnings. The Infinity dealership had a service technician inspect my vehicle upon arriving. I was informed that my vehicle was unsafe to drive and the car generated safety malfunction codes with the technician. The car needed to have the ADES Control Unit Replaced and the parts needed to repair the vehicle was on back order. I received a loaner vehicle all within 30 -45 minutes after arriving. I was very stressed and in a state of shock that I broke down crying. Had I drove my normal commute to work that day, it would’ve been fatal. The Atchafalaya Basin Bridge in Louisiana is the worst place to encounter.I’m 42, and never had a vehicle accident. Medical treatment was needed after this incident. My car was serviced days before this happened by the Infinity dealership because the shifter malfunctioned while driving. Warning notices displayed on the screen so I pulled over and was unable to get the car back in drive. The vehicle generated a code upon arriving at the dealership. I was told it was not covered under the manufacturer warranty because coffee residue was visible on the shifter. I had my new car less than 60 days and incurred a $900 bill from the Infinity dealership to replace the shifter. I was in a loaner for almost a week. The collision malfunction occurred 5 days after I received my vehicle back from having the shifter replaced. It’s been over a month now and the part is still on back order. Brand new vehicle, 2 incidents that generated safety codes, x3 car payments on a car unsafe to drive.

STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-02-08
  • VIN: 5N1DL1ER4PC
  • Components: STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: I purchased a new 2023 Infinity QX60 in Nov. of 2022. I had the vehicle for less than 2 months when the dashboard lit up with a shifter warning/malfunction while driving my kids to school on 2-8-23. I pulled over and stopped the vehicle to see what was going on. A shifter malfunction warning displayed. I was able to put the car in park but unable to put the shifter back in drive. After numerous tries, the vehicle shifted into drive after restarting the car. Was able to drive the vehicle straight to my local Infinity Dealership. I arrived prior to 7:30am and was promptly assisted. The car received a malfunction code and was shuttled home by the dealership while further diagnostics occurred. The dealership called to let me know the shifter malfunctioned and it wasn’t covered under the manufacturer warranty due to visible coffee residue. The car wasn’t safe to drive so I had no choice but to pay for the repair. The dealership had the shuttle service pick me up at my house and bring me back to the dealership in order to put me in a loaner vehicle while servicing. I was required to pay for the part so it could be ordered. The total cost was $748.80 for the part “new shifter”/labor. The shifter was on the desk but I was told the coffee residue was cleaned off of it. I picked my car back up on 2/13. I had a major incident that occurred on the vehicle on 2/15 that I just submitted for review. The car had a safety malfunction sensing a head on collision that forcefully stopped the car while I was driving around 40-50 mph.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-01-26
  • VIN: 5N1DL1GS9PC
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: QX60 equipped with Panoramic Sunroof. While driving on highway the sunroof exploded. Not behind any other vehicle, and no windshield or window damage. At approximately 9:45 am on 1/27/23 moved to right lane in anticipation that several cars about 100 ft were approaching and would be passing me. Heard a loud explosive sound (as described by my husband/passenger) almost sounded like a gun shot at that time. I feared that if we pulled over at next clearing car may not start and we would be stuck with no assistance. Drove approximately 1 mile and parked at gas station parking lot. Upon examination saw huge hole with glass missing on front panel of sunroof. No warning lamps came on, no messages through care communication system. The explosive sound caused me to fear for my safety since no warning lights alerted me to what the incident was, as glass flew off the car it could have hit coming traffic and caused them harm, Should glass have entered cabin my vision would have been impaired. The only barrier to glass entering was the thin roof headliner. Dealer would not inspect and communicated that the repair or replacement was not covered under their warranty. Contacted insurance, waiting for appraiser and inspection by them.

SEAT BELTS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-12-20
  • VIN: 5N1DL1FR3PC
  • Components: SEAT BELTS
  • Summary: I purchased a 2023 Infiniti QX60 3 months ago. This morning, one of the seatbelts pulled completely out when buckling up. The belt was frayed at the end as if it had been cut over a period of time. Had we been in an accident over the last month, that belt would not have protected the passenger in that seat. I'm concerned that if this happened on my brand new car, it could be an issue on other Infiniti vehicles.

Negative 2023 Infiniti Qx60 car reviews

  1. Rhett Hayes 2025-01-03

I was impressed with my first drive of this 7-passenger SUV. The vehicle felt stable and light on its feet. However, I was disappointed with the poorly constructed leather seats. After only 3 weeks of driving, the driver's seat had larger wavy permanent impressions in it, despite me being only 160 lbs. When I contacted my salesperson, they suggested waiting until the first service to address the issue. However, Infinity's response was that leather stretching falls under normal wear. I have owned luxury vehicles for 35 years and have never seen leather deteriorate this quickly. Even my wife's 2013 Acura MDX Elite with 116,000 km on it has better quality leather and is a better built vehicle overall. Additionally, there is a clacking noise from the front brake calipers every time I come to a stop, which the service department was unable to duplicate. Overall, I have experienced many failures with this vehicle, including issues with the steering and a rigid ride causing early rattles. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this vehicle as it is not reliable.

  2. Mustafa Batz 2025-01-03

My QX60 2023 also has poor quality leather that stretches and wrinkles remarkably after just 3,000 miles. Although my dealership replaced it with new leather, they were unable to make it flat and the surface still has big waves and wrinkles. However, I am confident that there is a solution to this issue and I will continue to work with the dealership until we find a satisfactory resolution.

  3. Isadore Schaden 2024-11-11

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my car. Unfortunately, I've been having some trouble with the driver door making noise and the wind noise being quite high, which is surprising for a luxury SUV. I took it back to the dealer, but they told me everything was okay. I'm feeling a bit frustrated, so I'm considering exploring other options like Lexus or Acura, which are also great Japanese brands. Thanks for listening!

  4. Ambrose Wunsch 2024-10-21

I recently purchased this vehicle and unfortunately had to return it to the dealer because the engine light came on. It happened once when I parked it for the night and then again when I stopped to pick up a friend and switched to Drive. It's disappointing because I thought this vehicle was good overall. It's been 3 weeks and I'm still waiting for it to be fixed. It's currently at the dealer and they offered me a loaner, but I'm hoping to get my car back soon.

  5. Bryon Kohler 2024-09-10

The latest QX60 model is smaller than the previous one, which unfortunately means that the 2nd and 3rd rows are quite tight. The 3rd row in particular lacks leg room, which causes a domino effect of having to move the 2nd row forward and adjust the driver and passenger seats. This is a shame, as we never had this issue with the previous model. Although we've only had the car for 8 months, we're already looking forward to returning it at the end of the 36-month lease. One feature we really dislike is that the car automatically locks itself when you touch the door handle, which could be dangerous in certain situations. We believe this feature should not be standard in a car. Overall, we feel that Infiniti missed the mark with this one.

Positive 2023 Infiniti Qx60 car reviews

  1. Efren Dach 2024-10-21

My family and I are big fans of Lexus/Toyota, but we had trouble finding the right fit with the GX and Highlander being too small, and the LS and Sequoia being too big. However, we stumbled upon the QX 60 and were immediately sold while waiting for our XC 90 to arrive. The QX 60 is nicely equipped and just as comfortable as our Lexus, but with more intuitive controls. Our son loves the back seat because he feels like he is up higher and can see more, which is a great feature. The various cameras are also surprisingly useful. While it may not be the most fuel-efficient option, it was exactly what we were looking for. We recently took it on a road trip and there was plenty of room for everyone and everything. I highly recommend it!

For the money, it's amazing value. Although there were some fit and finish issues that I had to resolve, it still costs much less than the Genesis GV80, Aviator, Q7, or BMW. I really enjoy driving it and the ride is great. Plus, there's no air suspension to maintain or have issues with in the extreme cold like I've experienced with both BMW and Porsche in the past. Surprisingly, the fuel economy in eco mode is even better than the EPA estimates. Overall, I highly recommend it!

I love your car and everything about it! The interior and exterior are beautiful, and it drives and rides great! You have a 2023 Autograph AWD with Warm Titanium exterior and Black interior. It is your first luxury car and it did not disappoint. It is everything you wanted and more! You’ve had several people stop you and tell you how beautiful your car is. I highly recommend it!

Compared to its competitors, this car is fantastic! I've taken it on a couple of long trips and it performed brilliantly. Did I experience some issues? Yes, but they were minor and the dealer took care of them. Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase!

I've had my car for 6 months and I absolutely love it! It's incredibly comfortable and rides like a dream. Although I have noticed that my iPhone doesn't always stay connected to the charging pad, and there is a bit of wind noise. I've also found that the driver assist feature needs to be turned off if you want to take back control of the car. However, the stop and go feature works really well and isn't obtrusive at all. Overall, I'm very happy with my car!
