2015 Infiniti Qx60 problems
The Infiniti QX60, called the Infiniti JX until the 2014 model year, is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV with three-row seating produced by Infiniti, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan. It is underpinned by an elongated Nissan Murano platform also used by the Nissan Pathfinder.
In keeping with Infiniti's naming scheme for 2014, in which cars begin with Q and SUVs begin with QX, the JX was renamed to QX60. While the number previously denoted engine displacement (for example, 35=3.5L engine), the new number, 60, is largely to do with its place in the product lineup, with larger numbers usually corresponding to more expensive vehicles.
First generation (L50; 2013)
The Infiniti JX35 was announced in April 2012 in the United States as a 2013 model. A concept version had been debuted at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event, while the production model was unveiled at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. For 2014, the car was renamed the QX60.
The QX60 was the first three-row crossover to be released by Infiniti. Design work was done through 2009, by Naoyuki Ohkoshi under Shiro Nakamura. In 2012 Nissan announced that the Pathfinder would also have the same platform as the QX60 for the 2013 model year.
The QX60 had previously been under consideration for the Australian market, but the numbers for right-hand-drive re-engineering and local homologation failed to add up and get approved by Australian authorities unlike its Nissan Pathfinder sibling. This results that the QX60 would not be available in RHD markets as it would only be available exclusively in LHD markets.

Common 2015 Infiniti Qx60 problems
The 2015 Infiniti QX60 has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. These issues span across different categories, including transmission, accessories, and drivetrain.
One of the most frequently reported problems is related to the transmission. The 2015 QX60 has been reported to have issues with the transmission jerking or hesitating during acceleration. This can be a safety concern, especially when driving at high speeds or in heavy traffic. The problem is often attributed to a faulty transmission control module or a malfunctioning torque converter. In some cases, the transmission may need to be replaced entirely, which can be a costly repair.
Another common problem reported by owners is related to the accessories, specifically exterior accessories. The 2015 QX60 has been reported to have issues with the power liftgate. Some owners have reported that the liftgate may not open or close properly, or that it may open and close on its own without any input from the driver. This can be a frustrating issue, especially if the driver is trying to load or unload cargo from the vehicle. The problem is often attributed to a faulty liftgate motor or a malfunctioning control module. In some cases, the liftgate may need to be replaced entirely, which can also be a costly repair.
The drivetrain is another area where the 2015 QX60 has been reported to have issues. Some owners have reported that the vehicle may experience a loss of power during acceleration. This can be a safety concern, especially when driving at high speeds or in heavy traffic. The problem is often attributed to a faulty driveshaft or a malfunctioning transfer case. In some cases, the entire drivetrain may need to be replaced, which can be a very costly repair.
In addition to these common problems, the 2015 QX60 has also been reported to have issues with the engine and the fuel system. Some owners have reported that the engine may misfire or run rough, especially during cold starts. This can be a sign of a faulty ignition system or a malfunctioning fuel injector. The problem is often attributed to a lack of maintenance or the use of low-quality fuel. In some cases, the engine may need to be replaced entirely, which can be a very costly repair.
Overall, the 2015 Infiniti QX60 has been reported to have several common problems, including issues with the transmission, accessories, drivetrain, engine, and fuel system. These problems can be costly to repair and may require extensive maintenance or replacement of major components. It is important for owners of the 2015 QX60 to stay up-to-date with regular maintenance and to address any issues as soon as they arise to avoid more costly repairs down the line.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-05
- VIN: 5N1AL0MM5FC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: The car intermittently will not accelerate after being idle at stop signs etc. this has occurred on 3-5 instances in the last 4 months. All but one time when getting the vehicle later it didn't have any issues. The battery has been tested and is good, I cleaned the terminals and still had it occur. Upon reading an Infiniti forum it sounds like it is an intermittent alternator issue or electric module. This put my daughter in a stalled vehicle in an intersection several times after trying to troubleshoot issues to resolve it.
ENGINE PROBLEM

- Summary: We purchased this vehicle 3 days ago. Day 2 there was a transmission shudder. I know these cvt transmissions have issues but with less than 18k miles??? I looked up and yes infiniti extended the warranty but we no longer qualify for this I don't think this is fair! IT HAS 18K MILES on it. The fact infiniti didn't recall the transmission is ridiculous. There are thousands of people experiencing shudder issues, cars dying, this is a danger to the drivers and their families. Why is there no recall? Extending a warranty didn't do anything! This cvt needs to be recalled and fixed so people aren't in danger of crashing.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

Early it happened at 12:15 PM, as I was turning around in a parking lot, the car shut off again and I had to place it in park and restart the vehicle.

- Summary: The liftgate latch failed recently. It would not secure, thus causing a safety issue. Anyone or anything could have fallen out of the vehicle. The latch assembly cost $500, and another $197 for installation. T2 automotive in Palatine made the repairs on 1/22/2024. The same repair was made under warranty at Motorwerks Infiniti back in 2017. The liftgate door open indicator did go on. No alarm came on prior to the failure. I believe this to be a faulty design of the liftgate latch.

Once the officer arrived he noticed that the glass was bubbled out from the vehicle and not inward as it would be if someone or something struck the glass. The sunroof/moonroof shattered. I had to exit the freeway due to being startled by the loud sound of the glass shattering. Unknown on the glass breaking being reproduced. The sunroof/moonroof was inspected by a police officer. POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-05-26
- VIN: 5N1AL0MM6FC
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: Hello the CVT transmission in these 2014-2017 vehicles have been known to be defective. Apparently Infiniti settled a lawsuit that was suing them for this exact reason. They settled without admitting fault. Problem with that is all these vehicles are still on the road and customers are unaware. They say they informed us but I can assure you I never was informed. They also sent a service bulletin to their dealerships telling them to expect problems and to fix if brought in. The vehicles are dangerous without a doubt. They shake, shudder and lose acceleration with no warning. No lights come on the dash or anything. Someone will lose their life, if they haven’t already. The law firm had company emails showing they were going to do a recall. Corporate greed is my guess, got in the way. Now unsuspecting customers are driving ticking time bombs. Also owners are trying to sell these vehicles to unsuspecting customers. There is no way this should be acceptable in my opinion and am extremely disappointed with the lack of concern I’ve received from the company. We are paying for a so called “luxury” vehicle only to find out later that the transmission should of been recalled years ago. Here I sit with my 20k used vehicle blue book broken down car now. It’ll cost $9800 to fix. Just isn’t right and I hope I’m finding someone that will at minimum look into it. Please, do us all a favor before it’s to late. Thank you.

ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-15
- VIN: 5N1AL0MN9FC
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: I took my 2015 qx60 into the infiniti dealership on 4/3/2023 because it was misfiring, was told that there was a coolant leakage into cylinder 2, I need to get a new motor and was given a 25,671.77 quote. I just had my car at the same dealership on 1/26/2023 and was told that everything was fine with my car. The problem started in March and I just had gotten gas, so I thought it was bad gas and needed to drive it out. But when I finally driven it out and got more from another station the problem persist. During this time my service engine light did not come on, my car did not run hot nor did it smoking and it only has 77k. I am the original owner of this car and could not believe that the lifecycle of this luxury car is only 7 years, so I reached out to infiniti consumer affairs on 4/10/2023 for help to make sure that this is not a manufacturers defect. I was told by the representative that opened a case for me to have my car towed to another dealership for a second opinion which I did on 4/11/2023. My infiniti dealership advisor called me on 4/12/2023 and said that it would be $3000 to do a deep dive into the motor, so I called infiniti consumer affairs back and after the new representative came up to speed on my case, I was told that they would not help me with find the cause of this leakage. My warranty just expired on 12/19/2022 and I feel completely blindsided because when I purchase my brand new infifniti qx60 I thought I was purchasing a reliable car that I would have for longer than the 2004 nissan sentra that I traded in after having it for 11 years.

- Date Of Incident: 2023-02-17
- VIN: 5N1AL0MN9FC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-21
- Crash: 1
- VIN: 5N1AL0MNXFC
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: Upon arrival home, my wife and son had their doors open (driver's and passenger's front doors) and were in the process of getting out the vehicle. Shortly after, the vehicle began to roll backwards down the driveway, scraping the passenger front door along my truck. My son had to run backwards to get out from between the two vehicles. He could have been knocked by the door and run over. My wife attempted to press the brakes but the vehicle was off so the brakes did not work. It rolled back into the street and stopped on the curb on the other side. Thankfully no cars were passing by and hit the car as it rolled backward. After realizing that she and my son weren't hurt, she turned the vehicle on and drove it partially into the driveway to get it out of the street. The passenger front door was bent forward and was not able to be closed on it's own. It took some force to get it to the point where we could pull it into the garage. The vehicle was towed to a body shop and repaired under insurance. To my knowledge, the physical damage was repaired but no investigation into why the vehicle suddenly rolled backward was conducted while it was in the shop. We have not had a chance to take it in since we got it back from the body shop. No warning lights or symptoms of any kind had previously presented themselves. Pictures and the repair bill are available to share along with a video from our doorbell camera.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-26
- VIN: 5N1AL0MN5FC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: The brakes will go to the floor on its own and won’t stop and almost rear ended vehicles or ran lights due to not being able to stop. The brake issue has been reproduced and noted on service records. I am a 100% disabled veteran that requires a mobility scooter for mobility and appointments. The other issue is the vehicle will loose power anywhere and anytime and has to be towed in by AAA to the Infiniti dealership every time and they say the issue cannot be reproduced and I have gone thru their complaint system and they are in the process of sending technicians to finally look at the vehicle. I am afraid if this car because the last time it happened it almost killed me because it just lost power and brakes on an Oklahoma interstate at around 70mph and had to coast to the right side service area to wait for AAA was almost rear ended twice in the process of getting to a safe area. My family and I are in danger anytime we drive this vehicle and have an extended Infiniti elite warranty thru manufacture. The vehicle in question is a 2015 Infiniti QX60 and was purchased in 10/16/2019 with 24555 miles on it and have had problems with car since day one. Please Please help we do not want to die. We have all recorded messages where Infiniti makes excuse after excuse after excuse to do anything about our safety.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-09-01
- VIN: 5n1al0mm3fc
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
- Summary: Vehicle keeps shutting off mid drive have to jump it to get it started. It runs ok for 1-2 days then dies again. Tested battery and checked alternator to no avail. The ac cooling fan goes up and down and draws a ton of power from the vehicle. All local mechanics can’t figure it out.
SEAT BELTS,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2020-01-10
- VIN: 5N1AL0MN5FC
- Components: SEAT BELTS,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: Random loss of acceleration. Car wont move faster that 2mi/hr. When It occurs, I depress the gas pedal, the engine is silent Put car into neutral or Park and depress the gas pedal and the engine rev's as normal. This has happened several times and a few times while driving on busy highway and almost being hit from behind because vehicle eventually stops and won’t start back up. Brakes would also go to the floor which causes seat belt to snatch you back. My vehicle is unsafe and Infiniti consumer affairs won’t do anything about it. They only fixed the brake issue after a year and 1/2 of complaining about it a technician was pulling it in for ac repair and couldn’t stop. So they replaced all brakes and master cylinder and it still happens but less after brake job. Car will just stop accelerating on highway and so I pulled a carfax and discovered at 4900 miles cars computer had to be reprogrammed and transmission had to be serviced . It was sent to auction from the manufacturer not the dealership why? Car is dangerous for my family and I and will eventually kill all of us that are in it when one of these issues happen at the wrong place and time. Please please help us. Vehicle only has around 62000 miles and I purchased vehicle when it only had around 24000 miles in 2019

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-03-27
- VIN: 5N1AL0MN4FC
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: The vehicle on at least 4 occasions has stopped accelerating when driving the vehicle (first time I believe was fall 2021, this last time was Spring 2022). Most of the times that the issue was noticed, the car was was moving at slower speeds (35 or less). The engine remained running but pressing on the gas pedal didn't make the vehicle increase it's speed. The first time it did this we took it to the dealership to inspect. They could not replicate the issue and they said that no error codes showed up. We left with no repairs or answers. It happened 2 more times after that. Each of those times we were able to stop the vehicle and get it to go again or it would start to respond to pushing on the gas pedal and would accelerate. The 4th time this happened I was in the middle of an intersection turning and it wouldn't accelerate. I was able to slowly roll into a gas station. I tried stopping and turning the vehicle off and on again to see if the problem would go away, however each time the car only slowly inched forward. I parked and then the vehicle started acting weird. The AC shut off and the steering wheel locked. There were three error lights that came on. The first said "FCW Malfunction See Owner's Manual" and second was "IBA OFF" and then the "! inside a triangle" appeared. These appeared only after stopping the vehicle for the last time right before it wouldn't start again. The vehicle was towed to the dealership. The error reading they got was c1601 and they believe the alternator needs to be replaced. This doesn't seem to line up with the issues we have been having nor the error warning lights that appeared. The last time this happened my child was in the car with me. Had we pulled out to turn and the car wouldn't go we could have very easily been hit by oncoming traffic. It is very troubling that the dealership doesn't seem to really know what is wrong with the car.
2015 Infiniti Qx60 recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 3 recalls for different components of the 2015 Infiniti Qx60.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: AIR BAGS:SENSOR:OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2013-2016 Nissan Altima, NV200, LEAF, Sentra, and Pathfinder, 2014-2016 Nissan NV200 Taxi, Infiniti QX60, QX60 Hybrid, and Q50 Hybrid, 2014-2017 Nissan Rogue and Infiniti Q50, 2015-2016 Nissan Murano, Murano Hybrid, and Chevrolet City Express, 2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, and 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles. In these vehicles, the front seat passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash.
- Consequence: If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify their owners. Chevrolet City Express owners will be notified by General Motors. Dealers will reprogram the Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) and OCS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in Altima, Maxima, Murano, Rogue, and Sentra vehicles, and replace the OCS ECU in LEAF, NV200, NV200 Taxi, Pathfinder, Infiniti Q50, JX35, and QX60 and Chevrolet City Express vehicles, free of charge. Interim notices were sent to owners on May 31, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669, Infiniti customer service at 1-888-833-3216 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Altima and Pathfinder vehicles, 2013-2014 Nissan Sentra vehicles, 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles, 2014-2015 Infiniti QX60 vehicles and 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid vehicles. The affected vehicles received an incorrect occupant classification system (OCS) control unit during a repair. These OCS control units may incorrectly classify the front passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult.
- Consequence: If the OCS does not detect an adult occupant in the passenger seat, the passenger air bag would be deactivated. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the passenger.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will update the OCS software, free of charge. The recall began on November 30, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 vehicles manufactured August 14, 2014, to November 5, 2014, and 2014-2015 Nissan Rogue vehicles manufactured August 12, 2014, to November 15, 2014. During the assembly process, the front wheel hub assembly fasteners may not have been properly torqued.
- Consequence: The under-torqued fasteners may result in a brake caliper separating from the wheel assembly causing a reduction in braking performance or reduced steering control. These conditions increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and tighten any loose bolts to the proper specification, free of charge. The recall began February 2, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

As a former owner of two Acura MDXs, I was looking for a change and decided to try out the Infiniti. I didn't know much about the brand, but a friend of mine owned two Infiniti SUVs and spoke highly of them. I have to say, I am thoroughly impressed with this car! It handles exceptionally well and I haven't noticed much of a difference going from AWD to FWD. The steering is smooth and the seating and cargo space are ample. The only downside is that my car did not come with navigation, but I always used my smartphone anyway. Overall, I have absolutely no complaints about this car.
-
Seating is very comfortable, even better than the President's personal airplane. This car is a great gas saver and requires low maintenance. I would recommend using ceramic brakes at all times and using full synthetic oil.
-
Great vehicle! It was beautifully made and drove and rode awesome. The price was very fair and the condition of the vehicle was exactly as advertised.
-
This is a great luxury family hauler! Although it can be a little sluggish even in sport mode, it is still acceptable. We opted for all the options, including the theater package, which has a sound system that rivals my home media room surround sound. While it may not be as smooth as expected on the highway, it still provides a nice ride, although some road feel is still present. The AC cooling fan can be noisy on the outside, but it cannot be heard inside. The mileage is about 24 on the highway for our V6. The seating is very comfortable, and even the 3rd row seat is comfortable with no complaints on our 1100-mile trip. The passive cruise is nice, but it can also be a little irritating. Overall, this vehicle exceeds my expectations!

It sounds like you had a great experience with your 2015 car! I can imagine how excited you must be to upgrade to the newer QX60 with its face lift and increased horsepower. It's great to hear that the car was comfortable and practical for your family of 4, with plenty of cargo space even when the 3rd row seats are in use. Thanks for sharing your positive experience!

I purchased this car about two years ago. Unfortunately, within just three days of owning it, the transmission needed to be replaced. To my dismay, exactly one year and one month later, the transmission required replacement again. Despite Infiniti sending me a letter stating that I had an extended warranty on CVT, the dealership refused to replace it and claimed that my warranty was voided. It has been a frustrating experience as the car has been nothing but problematic since the day I got it. I would advise against purchasing an Infiniti. Please take my experience into consideration.

I recently purchased a 2015 COP QX60 with approximately 25k miles. Unfortunately, I experienced some issues with the fan around 37k miles, and initially, Infiniti stated that it was not covered. However, after some back and forth with their consumer service, they eventually agreed to cover it. Now, at around 75k miles, I am experiencing some issues with the CVT transmission. Upon conducting some research, I discovered that Nissan/Infiniti settled a class action lawsuit due to ongoing issues with their CVT transmission. It seems that this is a well-known issue with these vehicles. As someone who purchased a COP Infiniti to avoid mechanical issues and premature failures, I am disappointed. I thought that buying a CPO

Over the last twenty years, I have owned forty cars, ranging from minivans to Jags, Lexus and Mercedes. Unfortunately, the QX60 has been the worst vehicle we have ever owned. Our VW Routan minivan, which we traded for this car, was much more comfortable. The primary issue is the seating. While the materials used are satisfactory, the seating is incredibly uncomfortable, particularly on the front passenger seat. Anyone with even mild back issues will be unable to ride in the car for any length of time. The problem is that test driving it will not allow you to realize the problem. After about forty minutes of driving, however, the problem is more than noticeable. In addition, the rear camera is not the best I have ever seen in any car. It does not provide a clear image, especially at night. The only real warning when using the rear camera is the sensor, which does work adequately. In addition, there are multiple rattles in the dash which the dealer has yet to eliminate, which adds to the frustration. Perhaps I have been spoiled by other upper-end cars, but this car falls woefully short of what it is portrayed to be. I think many are impressed because of the badge. I now realize the real reason Infiniti gives such a good deal on this car. Ours has only 5,500 miles and we are trying to get out of it, even though we know we will take a financial hit. If you have an urge to buy this car, conquer it. Buy an Acura MDX or Audi Q7 instead. Even an Acadia or Explorer are far superior vehicles. So, too, probably, are Hyundais or Kias.

I purchased this car based on its high reviews and wanted to share my real-life experience. While I don't typically write reviews, I felt compelled to do so due to the prevalence of fake reviews. On the positive side, the car is fun to drive, has a 360-degree camera that makes parking a breeze, gets great gas mileage, has comfortable seats, and offers plenty of trunk space. However, on the negative side, it has been the most unreliable car I have owned since my Camaro in the 90s. I have had to replace many small and large ticket items, making it essentially a lemon. From interior trim falling off to the drivetrain needing to be replaced, I have experienced non-stop breakage since the second year of ownership. There is now a loud screeching noise that needs to be fixed by replacing the engine fan for 1K. Although this noise started periodically after a year, I didn't address it then, so it is no longer under warranty. The noise is intermittent, making it difficult to diagnose. While many other issues were covered under warranty, I will never purchase an Infinity again.
