2015 Hyundai Genesis coupe problems

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe is a rear-wheel drive sports coupe from Hyundai Motor Company, first released on October 13, 2008, for the Korean market. It is Hyundai's first rear-wheel drive sports coupe, and shares its basic platform with the Hyundai Genesis luxury sedan.
The Genesis Coupe arrived in United States dealerships on February 26, 2009, as a 2010 model. Hyundai USA acting president and CEO John Krafcik described the Genesis Coupe as being designed "...to deliver a driving experience that challenges cars like the Infiniti G37."
With the launch of Genesis Motors as a standalone luxury brand, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe remained branded as a Hyundai and eventually was discontinued in 2016.

Common 2015 Hyundai Genesis coupe problems
The 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is a four-passenger sport coupe that comes in three trim levels: base, R-Spec, and Ultimate. While the car is known for its responsive handling, spirited acceleration, and good value, there are some common problems that owners have reported.
One of the most common issues with the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is water leaks. The car's sunroof drains can become clogged, causing water to back up and leak into the car. The rear quarter windows can also leak water, and the taillight seals may not be sealed correctly, leading to water accumulation in the spare tire area. When the car is braked, the water can slide forward and drain down into the backseat and floor
Another common problem with the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is the theft system alarm sounding for no reason. This issue can be frustrating for owners, and it is not always easy to diagnose or fix.
The 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe also has some interior shortcomings. The rear seat is cramped, making it uncomfortable for adults to ride in the back.
The 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe faces stiff competition from other sport coupes in its class. While it offers plenty of performance and value, its unyielding ride in R-Spec or Ultimate trim and some interior shortcomings can make it less appealing to some buyers.
Overall, while the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is a capable sport coupe, it is not without its problems. Water leaks, a finicky theft system alarm, a cramped rear seat, and some interior shortcomings are all issues that owners have reported. However, with responsive handling, spirited acceleration, and good value, the car still has plenty to offer for those willing to overlook its flaws.

2015 Hyundai Genesis coupe recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 3 recalls for different components of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis coupe.
- Manufacturer: Hyundai Motor America
- Park Out Side: 1
- Park Out Side: 1
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE
- Summary: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2015 Elantra, Genesis Coupe, Sonata Hybrid, 2012-2015 Accent, Azera, Veloster, 2013-2015 Elantra Coupe, Santa Fe, 2014-2015 Equus, 2010-2012 Veracruz, 2010-2013 Tucson, 2015 Tucson Fuel Cell, and 2013 Santa Fe Sport vehicles. The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module may leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.
- Consequence: An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the ABS fuse, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 10, 2024 through October 11, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 251.
- Manufacturer: Hyundai Motor America
- Components: AIR BAGS:SENSOR:OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION
- Summary: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2010-2016 Genesis Coupe vehicles manufactured December 12, 2008, to June 11, 2016. The electrical harness connector for the front passenger seat Occupant Classification System (OCS) may dislodge when the seat is moved.
- Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger frontal air bag, the disconnected OCS would, by default, cause the first stage, and only the first stage, of the air bag to deploy, whether there is a child seat in the front seat and the bag should not deploy or if the crash is severe and both stages should deploy. Either scenario increases the risk of injury to the front seat occupant.
- Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will secure the OCS connector to prevent it from disconnecting, free of charge. Parts are not currently available and a second letter will be sent to owners when parts are available. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 151.
- Manufacturer: Hyundai Motor America
- Components: SUSPENSION:REAR
- Summary: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Genesis Coupe vehicles manufactured December 28, 2011, to April 6, 2015, equipped with manual transmissions. In the affected vehicles, if the differential and the suspension rear crossmember were not properly aligned during vehicle assembly, the bolts that secure the differential may loosen.
- Consequence: If the rear differential loosens from its mounting position, the driveshaft may disconnect from the differential, resulting in a loss of propulsion and an increased risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will verify the proper assembly of the differential, free of charge. The recall began on December 30, 2015. Owners may contact Hyundai's customer service at 1-855-671-3059. Hyundai's number for this recall is 135.

This car is really impressive, from nose to tail. I used to own a 2008 Infiniti G37 Sport, and this car is a very close second to it, in some ways even better. The design is a real head-turner, and the interior is quite comfortable and spacious. The illumination, both inside and outside, is fantastic. Although the sound system could be improved, it still sounds good. The ride is decent, a little rough, and the road noise can be loud, but not overbearing. Compared to the G37, it feels way lighter. Most standard features are the same in both cars, but the Genesis has a little more. I'm leasing this car, and I'm excited to see how the Genesis Coupe progresses in the future. I'm extremely happy I picked this one.

Overall, this sports car is nearly perfect. I personally own the r-spec, which handles amazingly but rides poorly. The back seat is difficult to use, even for groceries, so I tend to avoid it. The trunk is small, but the seats do fold down if necessary. Once you hit 3000 rpms, the acceleration is very good. It has a 6-speed that takes practice to master, but it works well. The seats, including the leather, are perfect. All gauges and buttons are excellent. However, the radio is disappointing for a car that costs 29k. The MPG is excellent; driving at 75 gets you 27! Insurance and tires can be expensive, but it's a true sports car. The looks are understated but excellent.

I absolutely adore the Genesis Coupe and cannot find a single fault with it. When I was searching for a car to lease, I was unsure of what make and model to choose. All I knew was that I wanted a car with power and style. After test driving several makes and models from different dealerships, I still hadn't found the perfect car until I got behind the wheel of the Genesis Coupe. It felt like the perfect fit from the moment I sat in the driver's seat. The 4 cylinder engine was surprisingly fast and handled both city streets and highways with ease. The interior was quiet, the speaker system was great, and the gadgets were easily accessible. The car handled turns exceptionally well and the Turbo gave me an extra boost of power when I needed it. I was so impressed with the car that I immediately worked out a lease agreement after the test drive. It's been three years now and I have had no issues with the car, except for one minor problem that was quickly fixed with a single trip to the dealership. I am sad to give up this car and would consider leasing another Genesis or even buying this one outright if I didn't need something bigger. The only downside I can think of is that the gas mileage isn't the greatest, especially for city driving. I usually only get around 310 miles per fill up, which costs me between £45-£65 depending on gas prices. However, the mileage drastically improves when I go on road trips and travel mostly on highways, where I can get well over 400 mpg.The back seat space is not very comfortable for adults, but that is to be expected from a sports car. Additionally, the trunk space is limited, making it difficult to fit larger items. However, after three years, this car still drives like new and is incredibly fun to drive. I have had minimal mechanical issues, with only one minor issue that was quickly fixed by the dealership. Overall, I highly recommend this solid, fast, and fun car.

I was looking for a sporty, reliable, and affordable car and after a lot of research, I found that the Genesis Coupe was the perfect fit for me. I am extremely happy with my decision. I compared it to other cars like the FR-S, BRZ, Mini Coppers, and 328i, but the Genesis Coupe had more power and was more affordable to maintain than the 328i. Although the Infinity speakers are not as nice as what I'm used to, they are still decent. The back seat is a bit cramped, but that's to be expected with a car like this. The trunk space is decent for a car of this size and the power is amazing with minimal lag when accelerating. The car looks awesome too, with a white exterior and black and tan interiors (tan leather seats). People are always coming up to me and asking about it, and they can't believe it's a Hyundai. I also added wing badges which adds to the car's appeal.

At Hyundai, we believe in offering our customers a fair trade-in value for their car. I'm glad to hear that you've enjoyed both coupes you've owned, a 2010 and a 2013. It's great to hear that you still have the car and are hoping for a new coupe to be produced. Thank you for being a loyal Hyundai customer!

You're in for a treat with this ride! It's beautiful, comfortable, and relatively inexpensive. However, there are a few issues with the transmission and waste gate design that can be a bit of a downer. After three thousand miles, you might notice some rattling from the waste gate and grinding from the transmission, which can be a bit concerning. Unfortunately, Hyundai claims that this is normal and won't take any action to address it. Despite this, it's still a great ride that you'll enjoy!

I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Genesis three years ago, after trading in my 350Z. Unfortunately, I encountered some issues with the engine, which stopped working at only 62k miles. Despite having some trouble with the warranty company, I am hopeful that I will be able to resolve the issue soon. I took great care of the car, using 10-30 weight during the summer and 5-30 in the winter, and only driving it on weekends, which explains the low mileage. While I have had some difficulties, I believe that the Genesis is still a great car, and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in purchasing one. Of course, it's always important to do your research and make an informed decision. Best of luck!

I recently purchased a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe with a 6-speed manual transmission. Unfortunately, when I press the clutch, the car makes some unpleasant clanking and rattling noises. I took the car back to the dealership, but they informed me that this is normal. I even tried switching to a different car, but it had the same issue. Despite many complaints from customers, Hyundai does not recognize this as a problem. Overall, I am quite disappointed with this car and would not recommend it to others.
