The Honda Fit (Japanese: ホンダ・フィット, Hepburn: Honda Fitto) or Honda Jazz is a small car manufactured and marketed by Honda since 2001 over four generations. It has a five-door hatchback body style and is considered a supermini in the United Kingdom, a subcompact car in the United States, and a light car in Australia. Marketed worldwide and manufactured at ten plants in eight countries, sales reached almost 5 million by mid-2013. Honda uses the "Jazz" nameplate in Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, Africa, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia and India; and "Fit" in Japan, Sri Lanka, China, Taiwan and the Americas.

Sharing Honda's global small car platform with the City, Airwave, first-generation Mobilio, Freed and HR-V/Vezel, the Fit is noted for its one-box or monospace design; forward-located fuel tank; configurable seats that fold in several ways to accommodate cargo in varying shapes and sizes— and cargo volume competitive to larger vehicles.

Honda released hybrid petrol-electric versions of the Fit in Japan in October 2010 and in Europe in early 2011. In 2012, Honda released the Fit EV, a limited-production all-electric version based on the second-generation model in the United States and Japan, and was widely regarded as a compliance car.

The fourth-generation model released in 2019 is currently sold in Japan, Europe, China, Taiwan, South Africa, Brunei and Singapore. Starting from 2020, the model was phased out in most Southeast Asian and Latin American countries to be replaced by the larger City Hatchback, while it was withdrawn entirely from the North American market due to falling demand within the subcompact segment.

Transmission problems, such as harsh shifting or transmission failure, have been reported, notably in the 2007-2008 models. The 2015 and 2016 models also faced recalls due to potential engine failures caused by connecting rod bolts that could loosen.

Water leaks are a common problem with some Fit models, especially in the 2009-2013 range. The leaks are often due to issues with the door seals or the air conditioning system.

This causes high humidity and consequently massive damageing moister and rusting inside. Found to compromise electrical for tail lights and Hazzard lights. Also causeing massive sweating of water vapor that leads to obscure of ability to see through rear window and through all windows. Also massive threat to elderly and children and immune compromised people because toxic mold growth is likely to form. Honda refuses to repair say they don't care how many die because of issue. Children almost killed due to inability to see through rear window.

Their answer was that my car doesn’t need any axles replacement. My problem is that the axels in my car are fully rusted, corrosive and this was noticed by another mechanic. I called the Napleton service to check again but they refused. I called the Honda Company Customer service and they said that there is nothing they can do. I can drive my car the way it is, no incident happen so far but I don’t feel safe. Thank you

THE MECHANIC DESCRIBE THIS AXLE AS RUSTED AROUND ONE AREA OF THE AXEL, WHAT WOULD NORMALLY BE ABOUT THE DIAMETER OF A QUARTER IT WAS A SMALL AS THE DIAMETER OF A PENCIL.

The drive shafts' protective coating may not have been applied properly during manufacturing, making it more susceptible to damage from road salt, or other contaminants, and potentially cause it to break.
  • Consequence: A broken drive shaft may cause a sudden loss of drive power. The vehicle could also roll away if the parking brake has not been applied before the vehicle has been exited. Either condition can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
  • Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the drive shafts, replacing either the left or right drive shaft, if necessary, free of charge. In the affected vehicles, over time, the plastic cover may separate from the master power window switch allowing water to enter the driver's window and reach the master power window switch. If the master power window switch is damaged as a result of the water intrusion, overheating and failure of the switch may result.
  • Consequence: An overheated switch can cause smoke, melting and fire.
  • Remedy: Honda will notify owners in July 2013 and will instruct owners to take their vehicles to dealers to have a free inspection conducted. If the switch is damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. If the switch is not damaged, the owner will be instructed to await a second notification that will instruct them to return to the dealer to have a replacement switch installed free of charge.     After 12 months and 60,000 miles, I think my car is finally broken in. It has met my expectations and I can get up to 40 mpg when I drive conservatively. On the highway, I get closer to 35 mpg. The ride is comparable to my Mustang GT and the workmanship is decent. The power output is what I expected from a 90 ci engine, and the acceleration is similar to my old Buick 225's, which I prefer over a 455. When passing, I simply choose the right gear and keep the revs up, and it performs well. If you need a center armrest, I recommend getting a big, long, round pillow. If the A/C can't keep up, tinting the windows can help. If it doesn't perform exactly how you want it to, remember that it is still a pretty darn good car, especially when you consider the price. The carpet may be cheap, but that's to be expected at this price point.

    I've owned four new Hondas over the years, plus a used Prelude. I always believed Honda built good cars, but unfortunately, my experience has been different. My wife's car is a '95 Tercel 2-DR automatic, and we prefer it for small-load trips, both to the grocery store and for long-distance drives. Here's why: The seats are too low and lack lumbar support, the paddled steering wheel is uncomfortable, the body is too wide, making it difficult to park and navigate through traffic, the ride is jittery, and the steering is too quick, requiring constant attention on the freeway. The instruments are poor and disappear in sunlight, and fast cornering is not enjoyable. The windshield posts are too thick, which can be a hazard for pedestrians, and the transmission gasps. The mileage is mediocre, but the brakes are good.

    I really like the Fit, but unfortunately it's not suitable for me. The gas pedal is positioned 5 inches off the floor, which causes my foot to be almost perpendicular no matter how I adjust the seat. As a result, I experience leg cramps and heel pain after just 30 minutes of driving. Additionally, my husband, who is 6 feet tall, finds that there isn't enough leg room for him as the center console is too close to the gas pedal. It's unfortunate that the gas pedal placement is not something that can be easily discovered during a test drive, and it's disappointing to learn that this issue has not been addressed in current models. I have spoken to Honda about this, but unfortunately, I will have to trade in my Fit for a different car, possibly from a different manufacturer. It's a shame, as I really liked the Fit.

However, we remain confident in our decision to purchase a Honda vehicle and will continue to do so in the future.

    I got a great deal by shopping online! I recently started a new job with a 200-mile daily commute, mostly on the highway. Luckily, my Honda Fit gets an average of 36 MPG when I stick to the speed limit, and even when I go with the flow of traffic, I still get a respectable 30 MPG. I love the responsive steering, smooth ride, and roomy interior of this small car. The sound system is also great, and the car is incredibly reliable. The only downside is the paddle shifters on the steering wheel, which can be accidentally activated with an errant finger movement and are functionally limited. In my opinion, they should remove them for the 2008 model. Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase!

    Hello! It's been a month since I submitted my first review. I've put 1600 miles on it and I must say, it's very smooth. You'll be more than happy with its power as long as you're not a racing car driver. Even though it's still in break-in, its highway mileage has already hit what is listed. I got an impressive 46 this afternoon! (Of course, I had the air-con off, and I used N for a couple of times :-) ) I love how easy it is to pull out from parking lots because it doesn't have a sedan trunk! The ride is quiet, but it's not as comfortable as a mid-size sedan. I would suggest avoiding the Fit if you require a soft, comfortable ride.

I'm thrilled with this car and can't believe how much car Honda gave me for the price!
