The Honda Fit (Japanese: ホンダ・フィット, Hepburn: Honda Fitto) or Honda Jazz is a small car manufactured and marketed by Honda since 2001 over four generations. It has a five-door hatchback body style and is considered a supermini in the United Kingdom, a subcompact car in the United States, and a light car in Australia. Marketed worldwide and manufactured at ten plants in eight countries, sales reached almost 5 million by mid-2013. Honda uses the "Jazz" nameplate in Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, Africa, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia and India; and "Fit" in Japan, Sri Lanka, China, Taiwan and the Americas.

Sharing Honda's global small car platform with the City, Airwave, first-generation Mobilio, Freed and HR-V/Vezel, the Fit is noted for its one-box or monospace design; forward-located fuel tank; configurable seats that fold in several ways to accommodate cargo in varying shapes and sizes— and cargo volume competitive to larger vehicles.

Honda released hybrid petrol-electric versions of the Fit in Japan in October 2010 and in Europe in early 2011. In 2012, Honda released the Fit EV, a limited-production all-electric version based on the second-generation model in the United States and Japan, and was widely regarded as a compliance car.

The fourth-generation model released in 2019 is currently sold in Japan, Europe, China, Taiwan, South Africa, Brunei and Singapore. Starting from 2020, the model was phased out in most Southeast Asian and Latin American countries to be replaced by the larger City Hatchback, while it was withdrawn entirely from the North American market due to falling demand within the subcompact segment.

Common 2011 Honda Fit problems

The Honda Fit, known for its reliability and affordability, has been a popular choice for car buyers since its introduction in the US in 2007. However, like any vehicle, the Honda Fit is not immune to common problems. Here are some of the most widely reported issues across various model years, including the 2011 Honda Fit:

  • Clear-Coat Fading: Another common problem, particularly in 2009, was clear-coat fading and body paint peeling away on the hood and roof. This issue does not affect performance but can detract from the car's appearance. To remedy the issue, the majority of owners had to get their vehicle repainted.
  • Oxygen Sensor Issues: The Honda Fit oxygen sensor problem is one of the most common reasons why the check engine light may be on. If you experience a decrease in fuel mileage, hesitation or misfiring from the engine, rough idling or stalling, or failed emissions tests, you may have an oxygen sensor problem. The most common solution is to replace the oxygen sensor, which can cost anywhere from $600-$800 at most mechanic shops.
  • Solenoid Problems: Solenoids are an essential part of a car's transmission, controlling the flow of transmission fluid to enable the transmission to switch between gears. If you experience unpredictable gear shifts or delayed shifting, you may be experiencing transmission solenoid problems.
  • Bluetooth Connectivity Issues: Many Honda Fit owners have reported Bluetooth connectivity problems, where their phone is unable to connect or is connected but still experiences issues. This issue generally has a simple solution, such as resetting the system or updating the software.
  • Starter Failure: In the 2015 Honda Fit, owners have reported starter failure between 45,000 and 50,000 miles, which is thought to be sooner than should be expected. In order to resolve the issue, most owners opted to completely replace the Honda Fit starter with a new one, which can cost between $500 – $900 depending on the mechanic .
  • Rough Idling: Some Honda Fit owners have reported rough idling, particularly when the car is idling in drive at a stop sign or a red light. This issue can be caused by various factors, such as a dirty throttle body or faulty idle air control motor.
  • Difficulty Accelerating: After experiencing a rough start or a rough idle, some Honda Fit owners have found it difficult and slow to accelerate and get up to a normal driving speed. This issue can be caused by various factors, such as a dirty throttle body or faulty idle air control motor.
  • Fuel Filler Door: Some 2nd generation Honda Fit owners have reported issues with the fuel filler door, such as difficulty opening or closing it. This issue can be caused by various factors, such as a faulty latch or a damaged door .
  • Passenger Side Front Axle: Some 2nd generation Honda Fit owners have reported issues with the passenger side front axle, such as a grinding or clunking noise when turning or accelerating. This issue can be caused by various factors, such as a worn-out CV joint or a damaged axle shaft .

While these common problems can be frustrating for Honda Fit owners, it is important to note that the Honda Fit has a RepairPal reliability rating of 4.5/5 and a resale value that depreciates only ~50% after five years. With proper maintenance and routine checks, many of these issues can be prevented or caught early on, minimizing the potential for costly repairs.

What is the most common problem with Honda Fit?

Many drivers have reported experiencing back and neck pain when driving their Honda Fit for long hours. Most point to the model's head restraints as the culprit because they're inclined forward, forcing the driver's head to tilt forward. Several drivers have also complained that the seats feel flat and unsupportive.

How many miles will a 2011 Honda Fit last?

How long do Honda Fits last? Typically, a Honda Fit will last 150,000 miles on the road, lower than the standard 200,000 from Honda. It should be able to hit at least 100,000 miles before encountering issues, but it depends on how well you, as the owner, care for your machine.

Can a Honda Fit last 20 years?

Honda Fit's Reliability Ratings

With proper maintenance, a Honda Fit can last up to 200,000 to 300,000 miles without needing any major repairs. This translates to having a lifespan of 13 to 20 years.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2020-09-26
  • VIN: JHMGE8H55BC
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: DRIVER'S SIDE AXLE BROKE RESULTING IN COMPLETE LOSS OF PROPULSION. PASSENGER SIDE AXLE SHOWING SIMILAR SYMPTOMS. BOTH AXLES HAD TO BE REPLACED TO RESUME SAFE AND NORMAL FUNCTION. ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING, HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE DONE AND JUST DRIVEN CAR CROSS-COUNTRY (WV->WA) 2 WEEKS PRIOR WITHOUT INCIDENT. CAR IS 2011 HONDA FIT WITH ~70K MILES ON IT, REGULARLY MAINTAINED AT DEALER AND UP UNTIL THE INCIDENT I WAS COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE INCLUDED THE CARD FROM THE SPD WITH THE INCIDENT NUMBER, THE RECEIPT FROM HONDA OF SEATTLE FOR THE WORK, THE RECEIPT FOR MY PAYMENT, AND A PHOTOGRAPH OF THE OLD AXLES SHOWING THE BREAK. I HAVE RETAINED THEM IN CASE THEY WOULD BE RELEVANT FOR INVESTIGATIVE PURPOSES AND WOULD BE HAPPY TO TURN THEM OVER. INCIDENT OCCURRED EASTBOUND AT 1ST AVE S AND YESLER IN DOWNTOWN SEATTLE WHILE RESUMING FORWARD MOTION FROM SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT. I FOUND AN EXPERIENCE FROM ANOTHER FIT OWNER ALMOST IDENTICAL TO MINE: HTTPS://WWW.FITFREAK.NET/FORUMS/1ST-GENERATION-GD-01-08/98605-AXLE-PROBLEMS.HTML#POST1406103 I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS AS A I HAVE ANOTHER FAMILY MEMBER IN MICHIGAN WITH A HONDA FIT OF SIMILAR VINTAGE AND I HAVE ADVISED THEM TO HAVE THEIR AXLES INSPECTED. I AM SHAKEN TO THINK OF THE AXLE BREAKING WHILE DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS, OR TRYING TO MERGE ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY. I CONSIDER MYSELF EXTREMELY FORTUNATE, IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH, MUCH WORSE. NOT ONLY COULD THIS HAVE BEEN A MAJOR SAFETY EVENT BUT THE REPAIR SUGGESTED BY HONDA WAS ~3K WHICH IS PROBABLY OUTSIDE OF THE BUDGET FOR MOST HONDA FIT OWNERS.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2020-05-02
  • VIN: JHMGE8H57BS
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: ONE YEAR AGO AN AXLE BROKE ON MY 2011 HONDA FIT. I HAD IT REPLACED. TODAY THE OTHER AXLE BROKE. I LOOKED ONLINE AND IT APPEARS THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM. IN BOTH CASES, IT HAPPENED WHEN I MADE A FAIRLY HARD U-TURN AND SHIFTED INTO REVERSE TO COMPLETE A THREE POINT TURN. I'M ASSUMING THE EXTRA FORCE ON THE SHAFT HAD TO DO WITH HAVING THE WHEELS TURNED HARD AND THEN ATTEMPTING TO REVERSE THEM, PERHAPS WHILE THEY WERE STILL MOVING. REGARDLESS, THIS SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING THAT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN SO EASILY ON A CAR THAT'S NOT THAT OLD.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2020-02-20
  • VIN: JHMGE8H56BC
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: WHEN MY WIFE BACKED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY ONTO THE STREET AND SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, SHE HEARD A LOUD POP AND THEN SCRAPING NOISES. THE CAR THEN COULDN'T MOVE AND WE HAD TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND PUSH THE CAR BACK INTO THE DRIVEWAY TO BE TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC. HE LATER TOLD US THAT THE LEFT FRONT AXLE BROKE AND THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE WOULD PROBABLY GO IN TWO MONTHS. IT TURNED OUT TO BE SEVERAL WEEKS. THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHEN I BACKED OUT OF A PARKING SPACE IN A PARKING LOT. WHEN I SHIFTED TO DRIVE, THE SAME POP AND THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. THE CAR WAS TOWED AGAIN, THIS TIME THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE BROKE.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2020-01-14
  • VIN: JHMGE8H58BC
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT IN TOWN (LUCKILY - AND NOT ON A TURNPIKE OR HIGHWAY) MY CAR SUDDENLY CAME TO A JARRING HALT WHEN I ACCELERATED WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. TWO STRANGERS HELPED ME PUSH THE CAR ACROSS TRAFFIC TO A PARKING LOT AND I HAD TO CALL AAA FOR A TOW TO A LOCAL AUTO REPAIR. THE AXLE HAD SNAPPED BECAUSE OF THE RUBBER VIBRATION DIMINISHER WHICH TRAPS WATER AND DEBRIS THEN THIS ACCUMULATION RUSTS THE AXLE AND COMPROMISES ITS INTEGRITY. VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE I HAD JUST COME OFF OF A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A PILEUP IF I HAD SUDDENLY STOPPED ON THAT HIGHWAY. I CHECKED THE INTERNET AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH LOTS OF HONDA FIT MODELS.

  • VIN: JHMGE8H51BS
  • Components: AIR BAGS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER

ALSO, HAD MY CAR IN THE REPAIR SHOP 3 TIMES BECAUSE OF FOLLOWING REAONS: WHEN ACCELERATING FROM 0-35 MPH IT MAKES A GRINDING NOISE. HAD IT HOOKED UP TO A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE 3 TIMES AND THE NOISE WAS NOTICED, BUT NEVER RESOLVED.

IN DRIVE ENGINE REVS, AND THERE IS A HIGH PITCHED NOISE, BUT NO FORWARD MOTION. HAD TO CALL TOW TRUCK. MECHANIC REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE AXEL SHAFT ASSEMBLY, AS AXEL WAS BROKEN. MECHANIC STATED THAT RUST HAD FORMED UNDER A PLASTIC FITTING MIDWAY ON THE SHAFT, AND THIS WAS THE SECOND ONE HE REPLACED THAT WEEK.

THE SYSTEM RESTARTED A FEW MINUTES LATER. THE FAILURE RECURRED MORE OFTEN WHEN THE HEATER OR AIR CONDITIONER WERE ACTIVATED. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED DCH HONDA OF NANUET AT 845- 367-4380 (LOCATED AT 10 NY-304, NANUET, NY 10954) AND WAS INFORMED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. A CASE NUMBER WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2019-07-18
  • VIN: JHMGE8H56BC
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: HONDA FIT 2011 ON 7/18/19 I WAS DRIVING WEST ON GOLF ROAD IN NILES, IL. AS I MADE A LEFT TURN AT THE LIGHT, THE FIT MADE A NOISE WHICH SOUNDED LIKE I HAD DRIVEN OVER A METAL BARREL. THE CAR LOST POWER AND DRIFTED INTO A STRIP MALL PARKING LOT. SOMEONE HELPED ME PUSH IT OUT OF THE WAY OF INCOMING TRAFFIC. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED, MY MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVER-SIDE DRIVESHAFT HAD CORRODED, ESPECIALLY UNDER THE RUBBER DAMPER, AND HAD COMPLETELY BROKEN THROUGH. ALSO, THE PASSENGER-SIDE DRIVESHAFT HAD CORRODED IN THE SAME PLACE, AND WAS BEGINNING TO WEAR THROUGH. (I SENT TWO PHOTOS OF THE TWO DRIVESHAFTS TO NHTSA.WEBMASTER @DOT.GOV TODAY.) I AM A 75 YEAR OLD CAREFUL DRIVER, NO ACCIDENTS, NO MOVING VIOLATIONS ON MY RECORD. THE CAR HAD JUST 44,615 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED REGULARLY SINCE I BOUGHT IT. I SPOKE TO THE SERVICE DIRECTOR AT MY HONDA DEALERSHIP, WHO SAID "IN MY OPINION, THE AXLE SHOULD NEVER BREAK." IF THIS DEFECT IS APPEARING IN OTHER HONDA FITS, THE CAR SHOULD BE RECALLED. COST TO ME: $396.78 FOR TWO NEW DRIVESHAFTS, AND $295 FOR LABOR.. AND, BY THE WAY, I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC, AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED.

STEERING PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2019-04-21
  • VIN: JHMGE8H35BS
  • Components: STEERING
  • Summary: ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) CUTS OUT AND BACK IN AT UNPREDICTABLE TIMES CAUSING STEERING TO BECOME STIFF AND UNSAFE. THE EPS INDICATOR COMES MOMENTARILY WHEN ASSISTED STEERING IS NOT AVAILABLE AND TURNS OFF WHEN POWER STEERING IS RESTORED. IT HAPPENS PERIODICALLY UNDER ALL DIFFERENT DRIVING CONDITIONS. THIS LOOSING AND REGAINING ASSISTED POWER STEERING HAPPENS WITH IN SECONDS. IF CORNERING WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE LOSS OF POWERING STEERING CAUSES SEVERE UNDERSTEERING FOLLOWED BY SEVERE OVERSTEERING WHEN POWER STEERING IS RETURNED (ALL WITHIN THE SAME CORNERING MANEUVER). FIRST NOTICED JUST PRIOR TO GETTING THE TAKATA RECALL PERFORMED; HONDA DEALER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE STEERING BECAUSE THEY "COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES". DID NOT NOTICE THIS PROBLEM TOO MUCH AGAIN TILL RECENTLY WHEN IT STARTED OCCURRING SO FREQUENTLY THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATES THERE IS ONLY A PROBLEM WITH EPS IF THE WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON. HONDA DEALERS ARE 'UNAWARE OF ANY ISSUES' ALTHOUGH HONDA HAS HAD EPS ISSUES WITH THE FIT AS DOCUMENTED IN NHTSA COMPLAINTS AS WELL AS HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 14-058 (DEALING WITH EARLIER MODEL FITS). WHEN I RECENTLY CONTACTED HONDA AND ASKED ABOUT THE PROBLEM THEY STATED THEY HAVE NO INFO ON DEFECTS AND BASICALLY IT SUCKS TO BE ME. BECAUSE THERE ARE SUPPOSEDLY NO STORED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC) WITH THIS KNOWN ISSUE IT CANNOT BE RULED OUT AS A CAUSE OF ACCIDENTS. IT SEEMS ANY AND ALL HONDA FIT ACCIDENTS (ESPECIALLY INVOLVING FATALITIES OR SEVER INJURIES) IT WOULD BE CIRCUMSPECT TO CONSIDER THE UNPREDICTABLE LOSS OF POWER STEERING, WHICH CAUSES OVER AND UNDER CORRECTION IN CORNERING.

AIR BAGS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2019-03-06
  • Number Of Injuries: 3
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: JHMGE8H36BC
  • Components: AIR BAGS
  • Summary: TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 HONDA FIT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 7 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. POLICE REPORT NUMBER: PA-19-285971 WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A POLICE IMPOUND FACILITY. THE FRONT PASSENGER WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL AND SUSTAINED FIVE BROKEN RIBS, A BROKEN BACK, AND LACERATIONS TO THE HEAD. THE OCCUPANT REMAINED IN THE HOSPITAL FOR EIGHT DAYS. THE SECOND ROW PASSENGER AND A CHILD WERE ALSO TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL WITH INJURIES TO THE FACE AND HEAD. THEY REMAINED IN THE HOSPITAL FOR ONE MONTH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2017-12-10
  • VIN: JHMGE8H53DC
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: WHILE DRIVING THE CAR STARTED MAKING HUMMING NOISE, IT GOT LOUDER THE FASTER IT WENT, TOOK IT TO GARDEN STATE HONDA IN PASSAIC NU AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE WHEEL BEARINGS ON BOTH SIDES, WHEN I ASKED IF IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY THEY TOLD ME NO AND IT WILL COST $800 AND IT WOULD TAKE A WEEK BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE TOO ORDER THE PARTS. I WAS MOVING TO FLORIDA AND WHEN I GOT THERE I CALLED DELRAY BEACH HONDA AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE BEARINGS ARE COVERED UNDER THE DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY, SO I TOOK THE CAR IN AND THEY REPLACED THE BEARINGS AND ALSO REPLACED A BAD DRIVER SIDE AXLE. THE BEARINGS AND AXLE REPLACEMENT AT 35,00 MILES IN MY OPINION IS UNACCEPTABLE CONSIDERING I DRIVE FOLLOW THE MAINTENANCE STRICTLY AND I AM VERY EASY ON THE CAR.

STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2018-07-20
  • VIN: JHMGE8G53BC
  • Components: STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: POWER STEERING FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING, AND THE RADIO CUT OUT MANY TIMES AS WELL. WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED I VEERED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL UNTIL IT RESTORED. FORTUNATELY I WAS GOING LESS THAN 30MPH, AND AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT. UPON RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM I SEE THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. I AM TOO AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AS I LIVE IN A BUSY DOWNTOWN AREA. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY WHILE TRAVELING STRAIGHT AS WELL AS TURNING.

STRUCTURE,ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC),SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2018-06-06
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: JHMGE8H36BS
  • Components: STRUCTURE,ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC),SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: DRIVING ON FREEWAY, A CAR WAS STOPPED AHEAD, HIT BRAKES, AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM DID NOT ENGAGE, HIT REAR OF CAR AHEAD DIRECTLY WITHOUT MUCH SLOWDOWN COMPARED TO EXPECTATION, POSSIBLY SKIDDING STRAIGHT, FOR WHAT SEEMED LIKE 2-3 SECONDS (LONG ENOUGH TO BE PUZZLED) OR FOREVER. HAVE NOT HAD AUTOMATIC BRAKING KICK IN A LOT OF TIMES IN PAST, NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT LIKE THIS. NO FLUID LEAKAGES SEEN ON GROUND BEFORE OR AFTER ACCIDENT. CAR WAS DRIVABLE BUT TOTALED, NO INJURY REPORTED. TIRES 1 YEAR OLD. HAD JUST GOTTEN ON FREEWAY, WHICH HAD TURNED TO STRAIGHTAWAY, SO MIGHT HAVE BEEN GOING AROUND 50 WHEN BRAKING STARTED, MAYBE 15-20 ON IMPACT. PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WENT OFF.

2011 Honda Fit recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 11 recalls for different components of the 2011 Honda Fit.

2020-12-10
  • Manufacturer: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)
  • Components: POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT
  • Summary: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2013-2015 Acura ILX, 2013 Acura ILX Hybrid, 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid, and 2007-2008 Honda Fit vehicles with a manual transmission and 2009-2013 Honda Fit vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. The drive shafts' protective coating may not have been applied properly during manufacturing, making it more susceptible to damage from road salt, or other contaminants, and potentially cause it to break.
  • Consequence: A broken drive shaft may cause a sudden loss of drive power. The vehicle could also roll away if the parking brake has not been applied before the vehicle has been exited. Either condition can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
  • Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the drive shafts, replacing either the left or right drive shaft, if necessary, free of charge. Owners were notified of the safety risk with an interim letter mailed February 2, 2021. A second letter will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are P9M, PAV, BAY, TAX, CA0, and MAZ.
2019-06-27
  • Manufacturer: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)
  • Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
  • Summary: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Acura TSX, 2011-2014 TSX Sport Wagon, 2010-2013 ZDX, 2008-2012 Honda Accord, 2010-2011 Accord Crosstour, 2006-2011 Civic and Civic Hybrid, 2008-2010 Civic GX NGV, 2012-2015 Crosstour, 2007-2011 CR-V, 2009-2013 Fit, 2014 Fit EV, 2010-2014 Insight, and 2009-2015 Pilot vehicles. Negative 2011 Honda Fit car reviews

  1. Watson Pagac 2024-10-18

Hey there! I was wondering if you could help me out. I've noticed that my air conditioner compressor goes on and off while the a/c is on, and it's causing a huge difference in temperature. The dealer said that this is normal after checking out my car, and they tried getting the moisture out of the unit, but it still does this. Do you happen to know if this is normal? Also, my gas mileage is actually running about 28mpg combined, which isn't as good as I expected. Any thoughts on how to improve it? Thanks!

  2. Jacey Hansen 2024-10-13

Two blowouts in a few months can be frustrating, especially when they cost $170 each. Have you considered upgrading your car to avoid these issues in the future?

  3. Darryl Schaden 2024-09-24

This vehicle has experienced some reliability issues, with valve adjustments and heater blower motor replacements needed in less than three years.

  4. Felipe Medhurst 2024-04-26

I followed the great ratings from Edmunds and Consumer Reports and purchased a Honda Fit. However, my experience with the car has not been great. I have had to deal with 4 safety recalls so far, and the ride is very harsh with go-kart-like handling on the interstate, which can be quite scary. Additionally, the fit and finish of the car is not up to par with older Honda models. The tires are also not great and should be recalled for Michelins. I have had to rotate them every 7,000 miles and they are already bald at 25,000 miles. The body metal is also quite thin and the fascia trim is falling off. Lastly, the transmission shifting is poorly timed and the paddle shifters are not very effective. Overall, I have not had a great experience with this car and would not recommend it.

  5. Jerel Flatley 2024-03-25

Congratulations on your purchase of the Honda Fit! After conducting a thorough study, it's great to see that you chose a subcompact car that is highly recommended by both Edmunds and consumer-guide. While driving, it's important to keep in mind that the Fit is best suited for city driving rather than highways. It may not be the best for overtaking other vehicles, and the maximum speed on Rt 90 is around 92mph. If you have the option, it's recommended to buy a 5-speed manual transmission for better acceleration. The paddle shifter may not be useful in most cases, but shifting directly into 2nd gear can help with sluggishness. Lastly, be aware that the center console ridge under the hood may touch your knee. Enjoy your new car!

Positive 2011 Honda Fit car reviews

  1. Joan Mraz 2025-01-06

The car rides very sporty and handles very well on the road. Good acceleration and braking. It's also very fuel efficient. You can fit much larger things in the hatchback cargo area when the back seats are pushed forward, which is much larger than regular sedans. Overall, it's a really fun car to drive!

  2. Jeff Pacocha 2024-09-21

I love my Honda Fit, but unfortunately, the driver's seat is not very comfortable for me. It actually hurts my neck so much that I've driven without the headrest. Despite my initial plan to drive this car until it wears out, I have decided to sell it in the next few months and purchase something more comfortable. By the way, I am 5'7.

  3. Melany Schaefer 2024-08-23

I purchased a 2011 Honda Fit for my daily commute. I was looking for a practical, reliable, and affordable car, and the Fit met all my requirements. Although the seats could be more comfortable and there could be a bit more legroom, the car comes with a long list of standard features. I appreciate the car's height, which allows me to get in and out without hitting my head on the door frame. The car is spacious enough to carry a lot of items, yet compact enough to park easily. While it may not have the most powerful engine or the best handling, it excels at carrying groceries. I have driven 9k miles so far without any issues.

  4. Reynold Dach 2024-07-26

The 2011 Fit Sport is my wife's daily driver. She puts over 100 miles a day on this car and it has never let us down in 300k miles. I make sure to do regular oil changes and the transmission still shifts flawlessly. All the electronics still work and the gas mileage is great. We have saved so much money in gas and repair costs. This car has definitely been a win for our family!

  5. Josh Goyette 2024-07-17

Wow, it's so great to hear that Danny Duncan loves this car! I'm only 16 and I got it used with 120k miles, but it still drives amazingly well. The brakes are really good and it handles like a dream on back roads. Even with a heavy foot and 5 people in the car, it still gets an impressive 27mpg. And when I'm driving alone and conservatively, it can even get up to 40mpg! Plus, it has a timing chain instead of a belt, which is awesome and saves me some money. The AC and heat work so fast, it's amazing. And the paddle shifters are so much fun to use! With some nice rims and tires and tinted windows, this car is really hot. And since it's a Honda, I know I'll have it forever!
