2015 Honda Cr-z problems
The Honda CR-Z is a sport compact hybrid electric car manufactured by Honda and marketed as a "sport hybrid coupe." The CR-Z combines a hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain with traditional sports car elements, including a 2+2 seating arrangement (excluding North American models where the backseat is removed) and a standard 6-speed manual transmission. The CR-Z is regarded as the spiritual successor to the second-generation Honda CR-X in both name and exterior design.
In the U.S., the CR-Z is one of the least polluting hybrid vehicles available and is rated as an Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV) as defined by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The CR-Z is the third gasoline-electric hybrid model offered by Honda (after the 2000–2006 Insight and 2003–2005 Civic Hybrid) that can be equipped with a manual transmission, and the only one in its class.
The CR-Z is the sixth unique version of Honda's Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) technology since the technology was first launched in the first generation Insight 3 door hatchback. Sales of the CR-Z began in Japan in February 2010. Sales in the U.S. began in August 2010, and production ended by the end of 2016.

Common 2015 Honda Cr-z problems
The 2015 Honda CR-Z is a sporty hybrid hatchback that has been praised for its quick steering, good fuel economy, and sporty looks. However, like any vehicle, it has its share of common problems reported by owners.
One of the most significant issues with the CR-Z is its battery system. The Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system uses a traction battery that can suffer from reduced capacity if any of the 12 battery packs output voltages below 15 volts
. This can happen if the battery is discharged spontaneously during long periods of inactivity, which is why Honda recommends moving the car at least once every 30 days. If the battery is not maintained properly, it can lead to a decrease in fuel efficiency and performance.
Another issue with the CR-Z is its rear visibility. The dual-panel rear glass and bodywork surrounding it can make it difficult to see what's behind the car, which can be a safety concern. While the standard rearview camera helps alleviate this issue, it may not be enough for some drivers.
The CR-Z's interior has also been criticized for its lack of practicality. The two-seat design limits the car's versatility, and the flip-down rear parcel shelf instead of a backseat further reduces its usefulness. While the front seats offer adequate comfort, the lack of rear seating makes it difficult to transport more than one passenger at a time.
The CR-Z's powertrain performance can also be inconsistent. The three-mode selector allows drivers to choose from Normal, Econ, or Sport driving modes, each of which adjusts parameters for gas pedal sensitivity, steering effort, transmission programming, additional electric motor assist, and air-conditioning usage. However, some owners have reported that the CVT transmission can feel sluggish and unresponsive, particularly in Econ mode.
Finally, the CR-Z's manual transmission has been criticized for its inability to turn off the internal combustion engine and move only on the electric motor. While this was seen as a way to emphasize the car's sporty orientation, it can be a drawback for those looking for a more fuel-efficient driving experience.
Overall, while the 2015 Honda CR-Z has many positive attributes, it's essential to be aware of these common problems before purchasing one. Proper maintenance of the battery system, careful consideration of the car's rear visibility and interior practicality, and an understanding of the powertrain's performance quirks can help ensure a satisfying ownership experience.
How long do Honda CR-Z hybrid batteries last?
Your Honda hybrid battery life expectancy is between 6 to 10 years or up to 100,000 miles.
Why did Honda discontinue the CR-Z?
Discontinuation. On June 17, 2016, Honda announced that the CR-Z would be discontinued at the end of the year to make room for the Accord Hybrid and Clarity.
Does Honda CR-Z have timing belt or chain?
Owners don't have to worry about changing the timing belt, as the CR-Z has a maintenance-free timing chain. However brake fluid needs replacing every three years/37,500 miles, and the coolant replaced at 10 years/125,000 miles (and five years/62,500 miles after that).
Is Honda CR-Z comfortable?
Seat comfort is adequate, but tall drivers may find a lack of adjustability. The CR-Z's rear cargo divider can easily be lowered to create a flat load floor and hide any items in the parcel shelf's bins. A multiposition cargo shade is also part of the deal.

THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT DOESN'T JUST FLASH RAPIDLY AND MAKE MY CARS FRONT TIRES SKID AND MY CAR JOLT WHILE I'M DRIVING BUT ALSO WHEN I START FROM A COMPLETE STOP. I'VE ALSO NOTICED THAT I ONLY HAVE THIS PROBLEM WHILE DOING A LEFT TURN OR MANEUVER LEFT. ON APRIL 3RD 2017 I TAKE MY CAR BACK IN TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP 20 MINUTES AFTER MY CAR DOES IT AGAIN! I HAD THEM READ THE CODES ONE MORE TIME AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW THE SAME 2 CODES POP UP AGAIN! 61-1 BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW & 25-1 YAW RATE SENSOR. ALL HONDA DID WAS CLEAR THE CODE AND RELEARN THE SENSOR. Great little car! Although it is small, it has a nice feel and drives great. I highly recommend this car if you value fuel efficiency and stylish looks in a coup!

This hybrid is truly unique as it is the only one on the market that comes with a manual transmission. It's a 2-seater with a spacious cargo area, perfect for those trips to Costco. The car is not only reliable like most Hondas, but it's also a blast to drive and performs exceptionally well. With 3 driving modes to choose from - normal, eco, and sport - you can customize your driving experience to your liking. Personally, I prefer eco mode for everyday driving, but when I want to feel the power, sport mode really delivers. And let's not forget about the stylish exterior - it's a real head-turner! As for maintenance, all you need to worry about are regular oil and filter changes and new tires. It's that easy!

This is a sporty commuter car, not ideal for long distance travel. However, it's a blast on the back roads, handles nicely, is responsive, and efficient. The car gets an economy of 30-36 mpg on the highway, which isn't bad, but it's disappointing for a hybrid. It's a two-seater with limited storage and may not be the most comfortable for long trips.

What a great find! I came across this little 2013, 6 speed manual CR-Z after the original owner hit a deer in it. Fortunately, the damage wasn't too bad and I was able to put a junkyard bumper, fender, and hood on it. I have to say, I am absolutely amazed with this car! It's so peppy, fast, and nimble that I find myself driving it more than my two nice Mercedes. Plus, it's incredibly fuel efficient - I only need to put about $20 of gas in it a week. I'm highly impressed with how well-maintained it is too - it doesn't use a drop of any fluids despite having low miles. In fact, I've decided to keep it and sell one of my Mercedes instead.

I've owned seven cars in my lifetime, and this one is definitely my favorite to drive. Despite being 7 years old and having 200,000 miles on it, I'm planning on keeping it even after I purchase my next car. Update: Sold the car at 206k.

The CR-Z has a very sporty appearance and is built with Honda's renowned quality. However, I found the driving experience to be uninspiring. Additionally, the rear blind spot is quite severe, making a back-up camera a necessity. The seats are positioned quite low, and regardless of the steering wheel's position, it obstructs some of the many gauges. Due to these factors, I ultimately decided not to purchase it.

I had a bad experience with this car. The visibility is not great and it has cloth seats that can be difficult to clean. The blue tooth and stereo system are not up to par and it has a lower horsepower compared to other cars in its class. However, I believe that Honda can do better and improve the quality of their vehicles. It's important to pay attention to your surroundings while driving any car. Let's hope Honda takes this feedback into consideration and makes improvements in the future.
