The Honda CR-Z is a sport compact hybrid electric car manufactured by Honda and marketed as a "sport hybrid coupe." The CR-Z combines a hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain with traditional sports car elements, including a 2+2 seating arrangement (excluding North American models where the backseat is removed) and a standard 6-speed manual transmission. The CR-Z is regarded as the spiritual successor to the second-generation Honda CR-X in both name and exterior design.

In the U.S., the CR-Z is one of the least polluting hybrid vehicles available and is rated as an Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV) as defined by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The CR-Z is the third gasoline-electric hybrid model offered by Honda (after the 2000–2006 Insight and 2003–2005 Civic Hybrid) that can be equipped with a manual transmission, and the only one in its class.

The CR-Z is the sixth unique version of Honda's Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) technology since the technology was first launched in the first generation Insight 3 door hatchback. Sales of the CR-Z began in Japan in February 2010. Sales in the U.S. began in August 2010, and production ended by the end of 2016.

The passenger door lock works sometimes but the car will constantly try to lock that door if it is unlocked, because it won’t always lock. The dealership isn’t sure, I wonder if it’s a fuse because I hear the entire mechanism when it works. Also, it works with the drivers side child safety control which turns off the controls on the passengers side and also keeps it locked so someone cant jump in your cat when you unlock the drivers door. This is the exact problem the Accords and CRV has in the same year and I want to get mine repaired also. Its in perfect condition and taken care of.

  • Summary: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2013 Acura ILX, 2015 RDX, 2005-2010 and 2012 RL, 2009-2014 TL, 2010 and 2012 ZDX, 2007-2011 CR-V, 2011-2013 and 2015 CR-Z, 2009-2013 Fit, 2013 Fit EV, 2010-2011 and 2013 Insight and 2007-2014 Ridgeline vehicles. These vehicles are equipped with driver frontal air bag inflators assembled as a recall remedy part or replacement service part, that may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
  • Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
  • Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began August 12, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are S5B and W59.

    Looks better than in pictures. The seat is nice, but the height adjustment could be improved as it tilts at the same time. The shifter is very good. However, the rear wheels are too much tucked inside the fenders. The car is reluctant to accelerate at any rpm, and the engine noise is not what one would expect from a Honda. Revs build slowly. The brake pedal feels unnatural with no initial bite, and the steering does not feel connected, like most electric steering systems. Additionally, the clutch is too soft, making it hard to feel the engagement point.

    I recently traded in my Honda CRZ after owning it for 2 years. Unfortunately, I found that it wasn't worth the 20k I paid for it. While the car has potential, it lacks the necessary thought process to make it truly unique and valuable. The interior is made of cheap materials that scratch easily, especially since the car sits low to the ground. Additionally, the engine shuts off when the car stops, which can be frustrating. The car is also prone to dents and has some blind spots. However, I have since purchased a Dodge Dart that I am very happy with. It's faster and gets the same gas mileage as the CRZ.

    Don't miss out just because of the expensive tag. There's some joy to be had in a single CR-Z experience, no matter the driver's age or style, whether you're a racer or just a casual driver! And don't worry if you're tall like me (I'm 6'3), you'll still fit comfortably. While it may not be the best choice for a family car, if you're looking for an economical option, the CR-Z is a no-brainer. But if you need something more family-friendly, you might want to consider a Honda Fit instead.

    I have tested and considered many hybrids. Although I love the technology of the Prius, I wanted something different and better looking. I am absolutely in love with my little CRZ and I smile every time I drive it. Recently, a couple in a Prius pulled up next to me just to say how much they loved my car. Don't get me wrong, the Prius is a completely different vehicle with excellent storage, but if you want a great looking car that handles well, looks awesome, and gets close to 40mpg in the real world, then the CRZ is the car for you! The gauges are beautiful and the sound system is incredible. Additionally, the road noise is reasonably low and the car is fast enough in sport mode. The fit and finish of the car is excellent.

    Hey there! Let me give you the good and the bad. First things first, it's important to know that this is not the old CRX. It seems like Honda was trying to cater to a different segment than the tuner crowd. However, in my opinion, this is a really good-looking car that gets even better gas mileage than advertised. I'm actually averaging 39.6 mpg in the city and 45.5 mpg on the highway! This is a hybrid that uses battery assistance, but in the year that I've owned it, it has worked perfectly. You don't hear many complaints from other owners about battery life or reliability either. I believe the batteries last for over 15 years, and although they were originally very expensive, they have come way down in price to around $1000 to $1500 to replace now. They have gotten very few complaints and seem to last a very long time, possibly even longer than the 15-year projections. The interior is sporty and fits me well, but I'm 5 foot 9. I love the fact that it has not only different driving modes from economy to regular to sport mode that you can put it into, but it also has paddle shifters! I can use economy mode to save gas, or if I'm in a hurry, I can toss it in sport mode and zip around town. Again, it's not super fast, but in sport mode, it still gets up and goes. It's not meant to be a tuner, but when pulling out into traffic, I can even use the paddle shifters to downshift and give it that extra umph to squeeze into traffic. (Yes, I'm one of those drivers...lol.) The interior is a bit busy at first with many buttons, but you quickly learn where everything is and come to enjoy it. The dash is digital with a cool display, and again, you come to love it. The seats are acceptable, with good cloth and stitching, but on long trips to other states, you can feel a little uncomfortable after a while. However, I'm attributing this to the ride more than the seats. You definitely feel the road in this car. It's not a Lexus or a true sports car, so although it's fun to drive, don't expect the far end range of comfort or sport. But hey, it's not priced like a luxury car either!My biggest complaint is the blind spots and lack of backup or side cameras. I will be adding those as aftermarket products this year. However, I believe Honda should have built in these safeguards knowing there were blind spots. It's worth noting that there is no back seat in the American version, unlike the European and Chinese versions. While it's not recommended or approved, I've seen people place a 4-wheeler ATV replacement bench seat in the back that folds down and screw them into place. It actually looked pretty good and could work as an emergency jumper seat. If you're buying this car, you should know that it doesn't have a back seat, so you should probably leave it alone. The hatchback storage is bigger than a trunk and smaller than many other hatchbacks, so don't expect it to carry everything that many other hatchbacks can carry. After one year, I'm giving this car a 4.5 out of 5 stars. It's a fun car to drive with good gas mileage, good reliability, great looks, and a fun factor. Just keep in mind that it's not the CRX of old, and you will be happy with this car. Now, go enjoy the ride!

    Hi there! I recently turned in my leased 550SL and decided to look for a new car that's sporty, fuel efficient, and can hold all my essentials like golf clubs, plant trays, and groceries. My rule is to only buy groceries that will fit into my car! The seats in my new car feel just as comfortable as the 550SL (minus the leather and heated seats), and it's easy to drive. Plus, it has an IPOD connection and laptop compatibility. I'm really happy with my purchase and I think you should give it a test drive too!

    As a previous owner of a CRX-DX (7-years) this CRZ is a welcome pleasure. I traded in my 2001 A4 1.8TQ for this little piece of heaven. It is nice getting back to a smooth clutch. The Audi was a little long on both travel and throw. The exterior styling is a mix of Porsche 928 rear end & heavily modified S2000 front. The interior high end with soft touch controls like the Audi. The well placed control close to the driver. The 6 weeks has been unbelievable in the gas mileage. I am just about to fill up for the third time with: 41.7, 43.5 and 43.4 for miles/gal. avg. Not bad for a 80 City / 20 Highway driving. There seems to be no difference in Normal / Econ mode on mileage, just on stop idle.
