2015 Honda Accord hybrid problems
The Honda Accord (Japanese: ホンダ・アコード, Hepburn: Honda Akōdo, /əˈkɔːrd/), also known as the Honda Inspire (Japanese: ホンダ・インスパイア, Hepburn: Honda Insupaia) in Japan and China for certain generations, is a series of automobiles manufactured by Honda since 1976, best known for its four-door sedan variant, which has been one of the best-selling cars in the United States since 1989. The Accord nameplate has been applied to a variety of vehicles worldwide, including coupes, station wagons, hatchbacks and a Honda Crosstour crossover.
Since its initiation, Honda has offered several different car body styles and versions of the Accord, and often vehicles marketed under the Accord nameplate concurrently in different regions differ quite substantially. It debuted in 1976, as a compact hatchback, though this style only lasted through 1989, as the lineup was expanded to include a sedan, coupe, and wagon. By the sixth-generation Accord at the end of the 1990s, it evolved into an intermediate vehicle, with one basic platform but with different bodies and proportions to increase its competitiveness against its rivals in different international markets. For the eighth-generation Accord released for the North American market in 2007, Honda had again chosen to move the model further upscale and increase its size. This pushed the Accord sedan from the upper limit of what the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines as a mid-size car to just above the lower limit of a full-size car, with the coupe still rated as a mid-size car. In 2012, the ninth-generation Accord sedan, with smaller exterior dimensions, was once again classified as a mid-size car at 119 cubic feet (3.4 m3), falling just shy of the "Large Car" classification. However, the tenth-generation Accord sedan, with similar exterior dimensions, returned to full-size car status with its combined interior space of 123 cubic feet (3.5 m3); the coupe was discontinued in 2017.
In 1982, the Accord became the first car from a Japanese manufacturer to be produced in the United States when production commenced in Marysville, Ohio at Honda's Marysville Auto Plant. The Accord has achieved considerable success, especially in the United States, where it was the best-selling Japanese car for sixteen years (1982–97), topping its class in sales in 1991 and 2001, with around ten million vehicles sold. Numerous road tests, past and present, rate the Accord as one of the world's most reliable vehicles. The Accord has been on the Car and Driver 10Best list a record 38 times.
In 1989, the Accord was the first vehicle sold under an import brand to become the best-selling car in the United States. As of 2020, the Accord has sold more than 18 million units.

Common 2015 Honda Accord hybrid problems
The 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid has been subject to a recall due to an electrical problem that could disable the car's gasoline engine, leaving the vehicles to travel on battery power alone. The issue lies with the Accord Hybrid's cell voltage sensor, or CVS, which may not have sufficient electrical noise toughness. This can result in the CVS incorrectly interpreting electrical noise from the hybrid battery inverter and motor circuits, causing the car's gasoline propulsion system to be disabled and putting the vehicle in failsafe electric vehicle mode. The car's speed will be limited to 40 mph, and it will only have a range of about two miles when running on battery power only. When the battery charge runs out, the car will stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall affects 2014-2015 Honda Accord Hybrid vehicles built between August 29, 2013, and May 30, 2015, with a total of 6,786 vehicles registered in the U.S. Honda has received 58 complaints about this issue, but there are no reports of associated injuries. Honda will mail recall notices to owners around November 6, 2015, and after receiving those notices, owners will be able to take their vehicles to Honda dealers, who will update the hybrid system software at no charge.
In addition to the electrical problem, some owners of the 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid have reported issues with the in-car electronics, specifically the infotainment system. Some owners have reported that the backup camera lens has become foggy and useless over time, while others have experienced issues with the SiriusXM antenna and/or receiver unit causing the music signal to frequently drop out. The warning light system has also become less reliable for some owners.
The 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid has a reliability rating of 4 out of 5 from Consumer Reports, indicating above-average reliability. However, the issues with the electrical system and in-car electronics may impact the overall reliability of the vehicle for some owners. It is essential to address these issues promptly to ensure the safety and satisfaction of Honda Accord Hybrid owners.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-28
- VIN: 1HGCR2F84FA
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I am reporting a critical safety issue with my 2015 Honda Accord that poses a significant risk to my safety and that of others on the road. Although my VIN is not currently included in the active recall for the fuel pump affecting 2013-2017 Honda Accords, my vehicle is experiencing symptoms consistent with the issues described in the recall. Incident Details: On 9/28/2024, while driving, my vehicle suddenly lost power. It was limited to approximately 2,500 RPM and a speed of 40-45 MPH. This unexpected loss of power could have resulted in a severe accident, especially if I had been on a freeway or in heavy traffic where other drivers would not have anticipated my sudden deceleration. Diagnostic Findings: I took the vehicle to a mechanic, who scanned the fault code as DTC P0087 (Fuel Rail Pressure Too Low), confirming that the fuel pump is malfunctioning. The car can be made available for inspection upon request. Previous Condition: Prior to this incident, there were no warning lights or indications of a fuel system issue or any other issue. The sudden failure of the fuel pump has rendered my vehicle undriveable for over a week. Service Challenges: I reached out to the dealership for inspection and potential repairs; however, they quoted me $250 for the inspection and indicated there is a shortage of necessary parts, with a potential wait time of several months. This delay is unacceptable, given the safety risks involved. Conclusion: Given the correlation between my vehicle’s symptoms and the ongoing recall for fuel pump failures, I urge NHTSA to investigate this issue further. I believe my vehicle should be included in the recall, as it shares the same safety risks outlined in the active recall. This situation poses a significant risk not only to myself but also to other drivers on the road. Thank you for addressing this serious safety concern. I look forward to your prompt action.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-04-12
- VIN: 1HGCR2F3XFA
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: My car has been reliable other than standard maintenance; oil changes, brake pad changes, etc. On Friday, April 12 2024, I was driving down the highway at 60-70 mph when the engine felt like it lost power for half a second and I saw the RPMs rev up and then drop down when this "skipping" occurred. It happened several times and made me feel very unsafe in a high speed situation if I suddenly lost all engine power. I drove straight to my mechanic - they did not experience the skipping at low speeds on a test drive, but they recommended a transmission fluid flush. On draining the fluid, they said it was clean but had more metallic debris than would be expected for a usual transmission service. I drove the car over the weekend and the same engine loss of power was evident, but happened infrequently. Then on Monday, April 15 2024, the engine was losing power on the highway again and on the dash, a "D3" code was blinking. I went back to the mechanic, at low speeds, where they determined the transmission needs to be replaced - upon speaking with their Honda contact, this is becoming a known problem where transmissions are needing replacement in the 60-90k mile range. My car is at about 78k miles, we did have the transmission serviced at 34k miles and then not again until Friday the 12th - however there were no warning signs/sounds or error codes until the power loss on the highway and finally, the error code on Monday. The car is currently at the repair garage awaiting the expensive, replacement transmission and is available for further inspection.
STEERING,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-04-09
- VIN: 1HGCR3F82FA
- Components: STEERING,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: Upon starting the car (54,000 miles) the ABS Light, Steering light, FCW, LDW, Brake light came on. After looking in the manual it was determine that the car was dangerous to drive. I did not experience anything indicating an issue with the car before this happened. I took it to Scott Clark Honda right away. The dealer preformed a diagnostic test which showed the Anti lock braking system Solenoid Value was Malfunctioning, the Electric Power Steering was experiencing a problem in the "VSA" System, the Forward Collision warning, and Lane Departure warning were showing a "VSA" Brake Actuator Malfunction. The car was underivable without getting this repaired. Because the VSA Solenoids are built inside the ABS Modulator they can not be replaces separately. The cost to repair this $2764 the part cannot be replace without a $150 Brake Fluid exchange. The initial Diagnostic fee was $30. The out of pocket expense to drive the vehicle was $2944 plus tax and shop fees. There are multiple complaints regarding the same issue. Please issue a recall. I would like Honda to reimburse me for the repair costs.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-04-07
- VIN: 1HGCR6F52FA
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: I purchased a 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid in 2015. In early April 2021, I noticed my driver’s door lock was not working. At first intermittently then not at all. I took it to my Honda dealership and paid to have it repaired. Shortly after, the other 3 actuators stopped working. This time I realized something was wrong so I spoke to my Honda dealership & they had Honda USA pay the $100 deductible on MY extended warranty. In Nov. 2023 I tried to get my grandchild out of the backseat car seat but the door would not open. I had to run around to the driver’s front door, unlock it, reach over and manually unlock the passenger’s front door and then I was able to open the back door to reach my grandchild. If this had been an emergency, even the few minutes that it took me to unlock the door could mean the difference between life and death. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSSUE! I spoke with my dealership and Honda USA & they agreed to pay for most of the(5t)actuator .I was told “this is the last thing they will do for me!” As if I asked for their door actuators to be faulty. I have owned Honda’s since 1989 and have NEVER had an issue like this. Yes, parts break but not multiple times the same part. It is obviously defective. Yesterday, I tried to get my grandchild out of her car seat again and again the door would not open. I have now replaced the actuators once and am on my second round of replacing them. I Google searched and saw Honda recalled actuators for certain make and models, is there a reason someone’s life is more valuable based on the make and model they drive? I see it took a class action lawsuit to get Honda to recall the actuators on other models and provide a 7 year extended warranty on the part. I’m hopeful it won’t again take a class action lawsuit but rather your investigation to realize there are still too many faulty door actuators still in circulation. I’ve put Honda on notice but would rather it not come down to a life and death situation. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-02-07
- VIN: 1HGCR2F32FA
- Components: STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: While performing a normal U-Turn at a stop sign, I turned the wheel all the way to the left. When the wheel reached it's max rotation to the left, the Power Steering light on the dash flashed for a second, but at the same time the whole car turned off and then back on. I was stopped mid-turn until the car restarted. Not knowing what happened, I continued the turn slowly and when the wheel reached the max rotation the same light flicker and car restart happened. I tested once again while parked and confirmed that when I turn the wheel completely to the left, the car restarts. My safety was put at risk due to other cars at the stop sign not anticipating my car stopping in the middle of the intersection. No accidents or injuries occured. Based on limited research, it appears this is a defect that has been reported before for my make and model of car. I have not had my car inspected at this time. There were no previous indicators (warnings, messages, or symbols), prior to the failure.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-11-15
- VIN: 1HGCR2F35FA
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: In November 2023 I began to experience difficulty starting the vehicle. The issue is the ignition switch has worn out. This issue is very random, I may start my car on average 10 times per day. It may not happen for 10 starts in a row. When it does happen, the vehicle may start after 3,5 7 tries or up to 20 including breaks in-between, different keys, etc. Key factors that have been eliminated are starter, battery and fuse. One important note I discovered today was that a mechanic on YouTube mentioned having to remove starter and add a plate to the one end, so this could be part of an electrical issue that may only be associated with another year Honda Accord specifically with a V6. This should be a SAFETY issue or at least diagnosed by Honda as it seems to be very prevalent within the brand and may occur in year #2 or #8. Having this random inoperable event happen when consumer is: 1. In a frigid snow storm rural part of America 2. In an emergency situation like medical, or safety late at night, with possible criminal entity or environment is not safe.
POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-11-10
- VIN: 1HGCR3F8XFA
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: Initially it started as ignition starter issues, now there seems to be what may be concluded as transmission issues. After doing research i see Hondas history of bad transmissions. Extremely low acceleration causes dangerous lane switching or merging with traffic, also the fear of it stalling and no longer working as I drive.
STEERING,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-12-06
- VIN: 1HGCR2F30FA
- Components: STEERING,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: Winter 2022 The problem occurred after icy conditions in Texas and ABS, traction control and steering system lights came on in my Gage cluster, since then i have tried many things to fix the issue went as far as replacing the knuckle full assembly with abs speed sensor. Later I search across the internet of honda owners and noticed its a common issue and a very expensive 1, my local honda quoted $2800 for the part. My safety has been compromised on many occasions including brakes locking during wet conditions, my car slipped out of control because of the lack of traction control nearly causing a bad accident. I have been driving extremely cautiously, and during wet conditions driving my other vehicle. Due to the abs/vsa module malfunction there are so many components attached to the system Including tpms, srs, steering system, and including but not limited to ABS, currently all these lights are on in my dashboard please investigate this common issue that many honda owners experienced and after further research many youtubers opened module to discover a lot of circuit to selinoid issues, Please help us make Honda accountable for there mistakes and faulty parts that are so expensive and cheaply made, that may or have caused so many Americans hardship and financial repercussions. I shall be very tahnkful.
2015 Honda Accord hybrid recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 1 recalls for different components of the 2015 Honda Accord hybrid.

The switch from electric power to gas had a different sound and the throttle down on all electric was different, which took some getting used to. However, overall, I am very satisfied with this vehicle. It has not missed a beat and is very reliable and dependable. Although there was a recall on the car's software, which had the potential to power down the car, the local Honda dealership fixed it immediately at no cost. I have the touring model, which has leather heated seats, lane alarm, navigation, very nice fit and finish, and overall good handling. The mileage is superb.

This car is quite rare, but it runs well with reasonable acceleration. It offers a comfortable ride and has decent mileage around town and on the road (although expect far less on the highway). Additionally, it sports a nice array of technology. While I do think that Honda could have done more in terms of design changes, such as adding a compass and a spare tire, and increasing the trunk size to accommodate other features like automatic seat adjustment and lane change feature, overall this mid-grade hybrid still offers a comfortable ride and better styling/lines than the 'wide mouth' Toyotas. It's a very nice car.

This vehicle is a great combination of performance and efficiency. Even the back seat is heated and can comfortably accommodate a 6'4

I was searching for a car to replace my beloved one that was unfortunately totaled. Although I could have opted for a newer model, I was determined to find a replacement that was identical to what I had lost. Luckily, I found it, albeit with a different exterior color. I am absolutely thrilled with this car! It boasts an impressive 50 MPG, as well as being comfortable and stylish. I am confident that this car will serve me well until I am ready to switch to an electric vehicle.

I am delighted to share my experience with the iMMD Accord. This is my second one in a row, and I must say that I am impressed with its performance. Although the car is complex, I have disabled the Adaptive Cruise Control and all nanny warnings to enjoy driving it to the fullest. The car is incredibly smooth and EV-like, with immediate torque off the line. I have taken long trips in the past and achieved almost 600 miles per tank, even while cruising at 78mph. The trunk is a bit small, but it was big enough for a trip to wine country. Overall, we love this car, but we're going to sell it because we're on the list for a Honda Fuel Cell Clarity. We have not had any significant issues, and the interior is very comfortable.

I recently purchased the Honda Accord Hybrid after owning the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. Although we were hoping for a better experience, we found that the Lincoln was a better fit for us. During two trips, one 200 miles and the other 500 miles, I was disappointed to only average 37 MPG. Honda suggested that the gas mileage should improve after the first oil change. Unfortunately, the engine noise is quite noticeable inside the cabin area when driving at speeds of 30 MPH or faster. Additionally, the voice recognition software with the radio is not very user-friendly and some of the required commands lack logic. However, it is worth noting that the Honda Accord Hybrid is significantly cheaper than the Lincoln, costing around $15,000 less. Overall, while it may not have been the best fit for us, it may be a great option for others.

Although I have experienced some issues with the car since purchasing it, I am confident that these can be resolved. The text message read option in the display has not been functioning properly, even after trying with both Android phones and iPhones. Additionally, there have been some difficulties with connecting to Bluetooth and Pandora, which sometimes requires several attempts to pair. On occasion, the radio display has frozen and required a car reset to resolve the issue. Finally, the undercarriage could be improved, as the splash guard has fallen off twice during normal highway driving conditions. However, I am confident that these issues can be addressed and resolved.

I usually get around 29-30 mpg in city driving, but despite the instruments telling me I'm driving efficiently, the gasoline running through the engine says otherwise. I haven't noticed much variation with the level of traffic, but the gasoline engine runs a significant fraction of the time even in sparse traffic. When I brought it to the dealer, they kept it for a week and did some test drives. Their best average day on their own chosen time/traffic/distance was 34 mpg, which the head of maintenance said was in line with other Honda Accord Hybrids he sees. Although it's lower than the 'official mileage' promise, he seemed unconcerned. I did complain to headquarters, but they gave me a list of reasons why they wouldn't find any problems. Despite this, I still feel like a sucker every time I drive it. I'm disappointed with the way Honda has handled this issue, and it has definitely affected my opinion of the brand. I've been a Honda person for more than a decade, but this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. The dealer is now trying to sell me an extension for my warranty, but I know better than to fall for that.

The advertised mileage is disappointing. I have never been able to achieve 45 mpg under any circumstances. I bought the car specifically for its advertised mileage, but now I regret not buying a 4-cylinder gasoline engine and saving the difference in cost.

After conducting thorough research on hybrids and electric cars, I decided to purchase the Honda Accord Hybrid based on reviews from various sites. However, my experience with the car was disappointing. The ride was uncomfortable and the transmission seemed to struggle when changing gears. As a result, I made the decision to switch to a Subaru and have been satisfied ever since.
