2014 Gmc Acadia problems

The GMC Acadia is a crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors for its GMC division. The first-generation GMC Acadia shared the GM Lambda platform with the Saturn Outlook, the Chevrolet Traverse, and the Buick Enclave. The Acadia went on sale in 2006 as a 2007 model in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Acadia replaces three of the 7- or 8-seater vehicles on the Buick-Pontiac–GMC dealership network, the midsize GMC Safari van, the GMC Envoy, and the Pontiac Montana SV6 minivan for the domestic market. As of 2009, the Lambda vehicles have replaced the Buick Rainier, Buick Rendezvous, Buick Terraza, and the GMC Envoy XL and then subsequently the GMC Envoy, Chevrolet TrailBlazer and the Isuzu Ascender. A Denali version of the Acadia debuted for 2011. In 2017, the second generation Acadia was repositioned as a mid-size crossover utility vehicle in order to compete within the growing midsize SUV market against the likes of the Ford Explorer, Edge, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

First generation (2007)

The Acadia represents GMC's entry-level truck-like CUV and is the first unibody vehicle from the marque. It is also GMC's first front-wheel drive passenger vehicle, and also the first such vehicle of any kind since the 1973-78 GMC Motorhome.

The Acadia has seating for eight and either front or all-wheel drive. With a 5,200 lb (2,359 kg) towing capacity, the Acadia slots between the GMC Terrain and the Yukon. The Acadia is the mid-priced Lambda model between the Chevrolet Traverse and Enclave.

In December 2006, all production and sales of the Acadia (and the Saturn Outlook) were temporarily stopped due to the engine mounts not having holes drilled to release accumulated water, as well as an issue with potentially faulty rivets in the load floor just forward of the vehicle's rear hatch. The assembly process was quickly adjusted, and dealership sales of the vehicles had resumed within days of the notice.

The first-generation Acadia was sold alongside its second-generation replacement as the Acadia Limited.

AIR BAGS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-08-27
  • VIN: 1GKKRTKDXEJ
  • Components: AIR BAGS
  • Summary: I have called GM multiple times and the local dealership. GM Motors has airbags and are currenlty fixing vehicles and has not included my vehicle in any current priority group. The local dealer tried to get my vehicle included in this current round and was denied despite my vehicle being in Louisiana where it is very hot and humid. Both of these are risk factors causing the explosion of the inflator. I am disabled and my family needs my vehicle to take me to appointments because we bring my walker and O2 tank and now I have a $54,000 vehicle that they are all too afraid to drive. My daughter is short and has to sit right at the steering wheel. There are newer vehicles than mine on the priority list. This is ridiculous and dangerous. See priority list below.

AIR BAGS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-08-12
  • VIN: 1GKKVPKD3EJ
  • Components: AIR BAGS
  • Summary: I want to register a complaint regarding Safety recall N232404980. I was notified on June 23rd 2023 that my vehicle was included in this recall. It's now more than 1 year later and the recall is still incomplete. I've made several attempts to have the recall addressed including scheduling a service appt on Aug 12th 2024 (at Fox Chevrolet in Caledonia MI).  While at this appointment I was told directly that they had the parts but couldn't do the repair because my vehicle status is "Incomplete. Remedy not available". I also contacted GM customer service under their ticket number [XXX]. My understanding is that if the inflator is defective that shrapnel can be thrown in the drivers face in a collision where the airbag deploys.  This could cause injury or death. It's not reasonable to expect a safety system to injure you nor is it reasonable to expect someone to park the vehicle for more than a year. GMC should, at a minimum, offer to disable the drivers side airbag until a remedy is available. I realize there are almost 1 million vehicles involved in this recall and in April of 2024 only 3500 vehicles had been remedied. At this rate it will take about 140 years for GMC to address this issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

AIR BAGS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2014-01-01
  • VIN: 1GKKVTKD2EJ
  • Components: AIR BAGS
  • Summary: There has been a recall of this part for over a year now, and they still have not fixed it. This could lead to injury and death, and this is ridiculous that it has not been taken care of yet. They have to have airbags available or they would not be able to make new vehicles and sell them. Someone needs to do something about this before more people are killed. I, for one, cannot afford to go out and buy a new car so that I do not drive the one that I have. I am sure that this is the case for many people, and GM has a responsibility to fix this in a timely manner.

  • Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014 Buick Regal, LaCrosse, Verano, and Enclave, and Chevrolet Impala, Malibu, Cruze, and Traverse, and GMC Acadia vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. In the affected vehicles, the transmission shift cable adjuster may disengage from the transmission shift lever. As such, these vehicles do not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect." They also fail to conform to FMVSS number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."
  • Consequence: If a vehicle's shift cable disengages from the transmission shift lever, a driver may be unable to shift gear positions and the indicated shift position may not represent the gear position the vehicle is in. Should a disengagement occur while the vehicle is being driven, when the driver goes to stop and park the vehicle, the driver may be able to shift the lever to the "PARK" position, but the vehicle transmission may not be in the "PARK" gear position. If the vehicle is not in the "PARK" position there is a risk the vehicle will roll away as the driver and other occupants exit the vehicle or anytime thereafter. A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.
  • Remedy: General Motors will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace any affected transmission shift cable adjusters, free of charge. The recall began on April 10, 2014. Chevrolet owners may contact General Motors at 1-800-222-1020, Buick owners at 1-800-521-7300, and GMC owners at 1-800-462-8782. General Motors' number associated with this recall is 14048.

Negative 2014 Gmc Acadia car reviews

This vehicle has decent mileage and impressive AWD performance. However, there have been some disappointments. At 27,000 miles, there is a significant noise coming from the rear axle area at speeds over 50 mph, which sounds like a wheel bearing. The A/C takes about 2 minutes to blow cold air after engaging, which may indicate a low charge. Additionally, the rear gate groans when opening, the rear bumper chrome trim has bubbles in spots, and the rear taillights have moisture condensation inside the assembly, which have been replaced at least once but the condition continues. Despite these issues, this vehicle still has some positive features worth considering.

I purchased my GMC Acadia Denali brand new, but unfortunately, the AC stopped working within the first year, both the front and rear evaporators. Despite being under warranty, the issue persisted even after the supposed fix. After multiple attempts to resolve the issue, the problem still persists. It is unfortunate that I cannot recommend the Acadia or Traverse due to the recurring issues faced by myself and my friends.

Hi there! I recently purchased a 2014 low mileage FWD Acadia and overall it handles pretty well, although it can be a bit jumpy at times. Unfortunately, on the fourth day of owning it, the 'service air bag' light came on and it hasn't gone off since. I took it to a nearby dealer (not the one I bought it from, as they're quite far away) and they told me that something is malfunctioning. I'm taking it back tonight for further diagnostics, which is definitely inconvenient. I'm a bit worried about this issue, especially since I haven't had the vehicle for very long. If this kind of thing continues to happen, I may have to return it to the selling dealer. Thanks for listening!

I purchased this vehicle in November 2014 and have been quite happy with it, with a few minor exceptions listed below. As of 2016, I still enjoy driving it, but the fuel efficiency could be better. It would also be helpful to have a light in the glove box and a way to light up the garage door openers. In January 2018, I experienced some difficulty with the shifter getting stuck in park. The dealership replaced it, but the issue persisted until I heard a loud snap. It turned out to be a cable hanging up at the transmission link, which I was able to resolve. The dealer did not seem very interested in helping me. Unfortunately, the fuel mileage is still quite poor. Additionally, the price to update the navigation maps is unreasonably high, and the oil change indicator seems to want me to change the oil every 1500 miles. Other than these issues, everything else is the same.

Positive 2014 Gmc Acadia car reviews

I've owned this car for 7 years and driven it for 150K miles (I bought it with 24K miles on it). It was a great deal and has a lot of features that are perfect for our family. It's been great on trips too! However, after hitting the 150,000 mile mark, we've had some maintenance issues. We take good care of our cars and change the oil regularly, but at 130,000 miles, the Traction Control bug started happening (still does, just annoying). Most of the modules failed, which was frustrating, but they were easy to fix as a DIY. We also had to replace the plugs and coils around 140K miles and the purge valve at 135K (DIY). After 150K miles, we've had to recharge the A/C every summer. Unfortunately, at 170,000 miles, we had to get a new transmission which was expensive. I would recommend getting an extended warranty or selling it after 150K miles. We are too invested to sell now, but I still like the car. It needs new struts/shocks, but I still feel like it's a fair deal for the money I paid. However, cars nowadays are not made like they used to be. Our mechanic said that a lot of American cars have plastic, computer modules, and cheap metal that just don't hold up well after 130,000+ miles.

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your new Acadia! It's a shame that it doesn't come in rear wheel drive, but the smooth ride must make up for it. As for the mileage, it's still early days with less than 1,000 miles on the clock, so it's hard to say for sure. It's good to hear that you're averaging around 16-17 mpg for city driving though. I agree that the exterior design is much better than the Terrain, and it would be great if whitewall tires were an option. They really add some style, don't they? I think black wall tires can make a vehicle look a bit bland and cheap. Pin striping is another great way to add some personality to a car. I remember when cars used to come with pin striping and whitewalls - they really made a difference!

Acadia Denali is a fantastic SUV with all the latest technology features that you could ever want, and even some that you didn't know a vehicle could have!

I'm so glad to hear that you love this car! It's great to know that you're purchasing another one this week. The mirrors showing vehicles in the blind spot, the speed you are going and other information on the windshield in front of the driver are some of the features that make this car so special. Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us!
